Ribadu was OBJ’s political weapon - Waziri
Kolawole Daniel, Abuja - 28.07.2009

THE Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Mrs. Farida Waziri, on Monday, disclosed that evidence available showed that the commission, under its former chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, was used as political weapon against perceived enemies of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

She spoke in Abuja while receiving the National Conference of Black Mayors (NCBM) from the United States of America.

Ribadu is currently living in the United States and was wanted in Nigeria for trial over alleged failure to declare assets while in office.

Waziri said the commission, under her leadership, would break the link between tax evasion, money laundering and terrorist financing, adding that the commission had put up preventive mechanism for economic crimes.

According to her, EFCC under Mallam Ribadu was characterised by weak administrative structures, absence of career path for officers, haphazard administration and investigation, non-compliance with the rule of law as well as human rights abuses and political interference.

“It is necessary to admit that in its formative years, the criticisms that had trailed the commission have been that that it is political tool of the presidency and is arbitrary and selective in its investigations,” she said.
Mrs waziri said that the criticism she found was that EFCC under RIBADU was that it was used for political witchunting.

Even, if the criticism are true, EFCC under RIBADU has tooth rather than the toothless EFCC under Mrs. WAZIRI, under RIBADU, you go staight to PRISON, NO FINE OR PLEA BARGAINING OPTIONS. IGBINEDION STOLE ABOUT SOME BILLIONS AND WAS FINE SOME MILLIONS, COME ON PEOPLE SHINE YOUR EYES.

In truth, the way both the military9in particular) and the last civilian administration has bastardise Nigeria, we need more than 7 point agenda at a time but with a systematic development.

1. CORRUPTION
2. ELECTORAL REFORM
3. POWER ( INCLUDING BUILDING BY PRIVATE COMPANIES OF MORE REFINARIES)
4. DEVOLUTION OF POWER TO STATE( OR TRUE FEDERALISM)
5. SUSTAINABLE AND GENIUE NATIONAL PLANNING
6. TRANSPORT NETWORK( PRIVATISE IT)
7.LAWS, REGULATION, POLICIES TO ENCOURAGE SME'S TO CREAT WEALTH
8. EDUCATION( INCLUDING RE-ORIENATION OF LEADERS AND FOLLOWERS)
9. HEALTH( FROM PREVENTION TO EARLY DETECTION)
10. DIVERSIFICATION OF NIGERIA ECONOMY AWAY FROM OIL ALONE.

Thing have to be done thoughtfully and in order withou using education funds for Road building etc.

Now, actualisation or development of it is another matter, a thousand

THE Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has claimed that some politicians are holding clandestine meetings within and outside the country to make the country ungovernable.

Besides, the electoral body said the bane of the nation’s democracy was that virtually every political party, be it the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the Action Congress (AC), the All Nigeria Peoples Party (ANPP), the Alliance for Democracy (AC) and even the minor political parties, used thugs to intimidate and kill opponents and electoral officers.Chairman of INEC, Professor Maurice Iwu, in a document made available to the Senate Committee on INEC, when the chairman of the committee, Alhaji Isiaka Adeleke, led his members on an oversight visit to the commission headquarters in Abuja, said: “If the language of some political actors and their clandestine meetings within and outside the country are anything to go by, the nation may be facing a situation where certain groups of people must win, failing which they are determined to make the country ungovernable.”Professor Iwu, who briefed the committee, said the commission and its leadership had been maligned and continued to be blackmailed for no other reason than that they insisted on doing the right thing and following the law.

Warning that no electoral process could thrive under desperation and violence, he stated that rather than embarking on political education and mobilisation to build credibility and popularity between one election and the next, “most politicians seem to prefer to run electoral thug incubators and hatch hoodlums that would intimidate and decimate opponents and electoral officers.

“Incidentally, the bane of our democracy too is that virtually every party is involved, but they only go complaining when they are outdone by their opponents,” he said.

He emphasised the need for politicians and political parties to be committed to ethical conduct and denounce violence in the electoral process, saying, “no electoral process can thrive under desperation and violence.”

He said: “The stand of INEC is that those who want power must work and campaign for it legitimately. There is the need for politicians and political parties to commit to ethical conduct and the denouncement of violence in prosecuting elections. We are, therefore, working towards getting political parties to commit to a pact for a violence-free election.”

Professor Iwu, who promised to co-operate with the Senate committee for the good of the country, said however that how the laws were being implemented mattered a lot in the nation’s democracy, lamenting that several laws had been passed in the past and many of them were making little or no impact on the polity.

He said: “Our problem in Nigeria is not necessarily the absence of laws but lack of effective implementation of the existing laws. It is only through the oversight that the National Assembly can monitor the implementation of these laws, identify if there are challenges and whether there is the need for new laws or amendment of existing laws.”
PDP is the party of DO OR DIE according to their garrison commander OBJ. But Iwu is also right AC, ANPP and others are not too diffrent , if not worse especially if the all defect like fly going to find shit( which is what PDP is) But winning at all costs because of the money they are going to office to steal.

“We are not under any illusion of the intent of Yar’Adua and his PDP on Lagos and we assure them that Lagos remains that bastion that will certainly not be conquered by the neo-colonialist. Even as Yar’Adua would sustain the law that allows Kano, which realistically has less population than the old Alimosho Local council in Lagos to have 44 local councils and Lagos to have only 20 local councils, we want to let him know that he is embarking in a political exercise in futility and should better direct his attention to the simmering ship of state, which Nigeria has become under his perilous leadership.”

Joe Igbokwe.

Lagos AC.

To me the above is the hypocrisy called  YAR A'CLUELESS who tals about RUSS OF LAW and due process and not compare oranges to oranges, and use that in making utterances and recommendation.

The North can continue to lie, LAGOS  is certainly BIGGER in population than KANO, and surely since the matter has been adjudicated by the supreme court, that takes the authority of National assembly if they failed or delayed for Political reasons of LAGOS not been a an APDP state. OBJ did that for the last 8 years and YAR A'LIAR want to continue that policies.

Local government is created from population, and using the recent census, Lagos should be allowed to with the appropriate approval allow to continue with more local govt.

Black_Revo:
A combined team of the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) and policemen, today shut down Mountain of Fire and Miracle (MFM) Ministry, Mobil filling station and other companies over environmental nuisance.

Also shut were Afritec Limited, Wempco Road, Ogba, Investment Holdings, Marina Street and Jesus Warrior Fellowship, Mushin.

The affected places of worship and the companies had earlier been served abatement notices, which they did not comply with.

LASEPA officials and the police stormed MFM located on 22, Ojekunle Street, Mushin and sealed it off over incessant noise pollution and refusing to attend the meeting conveyed by the state government.

Jesus Warrior Fellowship, which shares the same address with MFM, was also sealed off over the same reasons.

Mobil filling station, Okota Road, Isolo, was shut down by the government for polluting the underground water on Okota Road/Dele Ashiru Street and its environs with petroleum products.

Afritec Limited on Wempco Road, was shut down for gross insubordination to constituted authority, as its workers obstructed officials of LASEPA from carrying out their duties.

Investment Holdings on 47, Marina Street, was sealed off because it became a nuisance in the area as a result of the noise and gaseous pollution from its generating set.

According to LASEPA General Manager, Engr. Rasheed Shabi, the agency had over a period of time investigated complaints on sanitation and environmental pollution nuisance caused by the operators of the companies and churches.

He stated that in view of their noncompliance with environmental laws, and after due process had been followed, the agency requested the support of the police to enforce the environmental laws of the state.

Shabi stated that apart from sealing off the churches and companies, the organizations will be sanctioned.

He added that the affected organizations would not be reopened until they stop polluting the environment.

If they are looking to shut down places for generator noises, then everywhere in Nigeria including ASS Rock will have to be shut down for generator noises including PCHN when we hadly have power supply.

It is a good idea, may be our 'non-leader' leaders will wake up from the people agitation.

Always start at the right footing when you can.

If you are going to carry out such thing in Nigeria with maximum effect and you don't allow religion and tribal sentiment to derail the project, do an even handed justice.

Find 6 corrupt people in each of the 6 geo political zone, and let them be an example to the rest, believe me, everyone will be very careful on how they conduct themselves.

If any set of people tried the like the Nzeogwu one , it will lead to another civil war. And with war, in most cases there are usally no winner or loser but painful loss on either side and very very sour memory. Even if we divide Nigeria today, the perceived beneficiaries may not be the real beneficiaries.

We had missed one opportunity during Abacha regime to clear out hoodlums in our midst. But, i am sure another opportunity will present itself.

princekevo:
So in the present Nigeria today how do u think there would a general cleasing without some tribe feeling cheated or seeing it being unfair, Go and read the history of Ghana, they have 2 major tribes who see themselves as rivals since Independence, the Ewes, and the Ashanti. If you study the revolution that happens 1979 very well u will understand that the killing practically favours the Ewes and most of the people killed were from Ashanti region,
If you read this:
On June 4, 1979, Akuffo's government was deposed in a violent coup by a group of junior and noncommissioned officers – Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) – with Flt. Lt. Jerry John Rawlings as its chairman. The AFRC executed eight senior military officers, including former chiefs of state Acheampong and Akuffo; established secret Special Tribunals that tried dozens of military officers, government officials, and private individuals for corruption, sentenced them to long prison terms and confiscating property.

From the info above the eight senior military officers, including Acheampong and Akuffo are all Ashanti and even the other military officers sentence to long term prison well mostly from Ashanti region,
But people of Ghana didn't these as being biased or tribalistic, u know why? What matters to them was the Objective and intension of J.J Rawlings. Cos the top corrupt military officer who was in power from February 24, 1966 to that June 4, 1979 happens to be majority of Ashanti region since they took over power from Nkrumah is an Ewe,
If that happened in Nigeria today we will all count is as being traibalistic on the side of J.Rawlings who is an Ewe or as a revenge for the overthrow of Nkuruma By the MillMilitary putting Brigadier. A.A. Afrifa as the chief of state who is an Ashanti,

Then bringing it down to Nigerian we have today, Ask urself Which tribes has been majority in power since Independence which tribes has less tested power, We all know that if there happen to be a cleansing of these past corrupt leaders and criminals still parading themselves as Elder states men, the North will have a bigger share of it, followed by the west, How would you feel abt it, and wht would they say? Probably they would proclaim it as being biases unfair and tribally motivated, But it must happen someday irrespective of how some group of people are gonna feel or think abt it, Because we cant jst sit watch these criminals who should be in their grave yards or serving a life term jail for the Atrocities they commited against Nigeria, parading themselves on the street boldly and even wanting to come back to steal more.
You are very close to the point, but you still miss the point.

The nzeogwu plan was to eliminate those that are puling Nigeria backward,. It was agreed and they were identified by whatever criteria and it includes politicians from North to West and to the East.

When it comes to implementation, the people who are meant to carry out the East operations leak the plan to the people they were suppossed to get rid of, and those people were able to escape.

What happen afterwards confirms that an Easterner planned a coup and only eliminate the Northerners and Westerners when the plan and intentions were different.

In Nigeria of today, you will find good (or shall we say very bad) 6 examples of very corrupt politicians in 6 of the geo political zones. They are to be made as an example so that 'leaders' or public officials we have fear of doing something bad or illegal.

Don't allow accusation of tribalism rightly or wrongly, as that was how Nzeogwu was recorded in Histrory.

It was this same Jerry Rawlings action that open the floor for 1967-70 Civil war,
Nigeria is to big and Diverse to have such succesful national cleansing.
NO, it was Kaduna Nzeogwu not JJ rawlings, but the concept is similar except that the Nzeogwu case the 'elimination' ended up on ethnic line favouring the Igbo's and that is why it fail miserably.

The best case scenario, such leader like rawlings will take 6 people in each of the 6 geo political zone, and make them an example. Choose them according to the severity of their corruption. It must be 6 in each region otherwise the perspections of Tribalism will make it to fail again.

IDIAGBON has tried something similar and succesful against Drug tarffickers, result 90% reduction in Drug Trafficking overnight.

Nigeria is not too big or too diverse, it is the usual excuse NOT to do what it is necessary.

Unfortunately, poverty has destroyed the moral fabrics of most Nigerians and I bet you if IBB wants to be president again he will sure be. All he needs to do is put his money in the right quarters and all will be well. No amount of noise by the common man or the voters would change anything in Nigeria.

After all, the current president- Yar’dua only came out of the blues and became president.
If you doubt me could you please remind me when he started his presidential campaign before he finally emerged as winner.

Naturally Nigeria is corrupt. To sanitise the country we need somebody like Jerry Rowlings of Ghana.
I have said it number without times that Nigeria

The other 10% are Nigerians who live in the dark ages (Illiterate, Bush, in the Cemetery) and the other 10% are simply Pastors and Imans.

How can you expect a Man his likes to be remorseful and try to repair the damage, since when have you seen a Black African President become remorseful for his grave misdeeds.

The good thing though is that they Die eventually, Bad thing, they always have one worse to replace them
@ lagerwhenindoubt

That was a good reply and very concise. A lot of people need educating on 'our dubious leaders'.

Secondly,

'If it weren't for Christians, I'd be a Christian.'

Just be a Christian in the mould of Jesus Christ. All he preach and practice is Love for everyone, and not judgement or hatred. A lot of people practice self righetousness, unfortunately God is so mysterious that even some'perfect' person may be wrong

The sign of being a good religious nation is progress in our moral and care standing, which we cannot lay claim to today because of 'those religious leaders' who are turning religion's to super business.

BUT, my brother , whatever you do, be a christian, practice it in truth and
ask for the Lord's wisdom to be a good example as Christ was and is still.

The report says that it was the Greek's Ambassador's wife that said 'Nigerians are theives' whilst her husband was there watching, and not reprimand her.

1. Every country has its own band of thieves including Greece, so the business of thieves is not exclusive to any country.

2. She and her husband are not diplomatic, and not a good representatives of their country

3. We have a hopeless and 'directionless' govt who should have laid a complaint, and asked the Ambassador and his wife not only to apologises to Nigeria and Nigerians then for them to be recalled.

4. Our 'leaders' are certified thieves, so they cannot question the woman, because she is saying the truth.

PoliticsRe: U.S., Argentina May Supply Nigeria Gas For 6000 Mw by vigasimple(m): 3:47pm On Jul 20, 2009
naijatoday:
Disturbed by the destruction of some oil platforms by militants, the Federal Government is considering sourcing dry gas for power plants from the United States and Argentina.

The government is placing the two countries on standby for the supply of dry gas to meet its December deadline for 6,000MW.

The Presidential Steering Committee on National Integrated Power Projects (NIPP) has claimed that although the nation is generating 4500MW but only 2,500MW is being transmitted.

The energy currently available is put at about 1,800MW, owing to the destruction of pipelines and platforms by MEND. This has made supply of dry gas to power plants difficult.
The government had about a month ago approved $2.6billion for Joint Venture (JV) partners to supply gas.

Some of the benefiting partners include Shell Petroleum Development Company, Mobil, Total and Chevron, which run most of the gas facilities in the country.

But the attacks on Shell and Chevron facilities have threatened the supply of dry gas to the power plants.

The attacks forced Shell and Chevron to shut down their operations in key areas where dry gas can be sourced.

It was gathered that the gas constraint made the Minister of State for Power, Nuhu Way, to address the press last week on the challenge being faced by the government.

To avoid last-minute disappointment, findings revealed that the government came up with a Plan B.

A highly-placed government official, who pleaded for anonymity, said: "We are determined to meet the 6,000MW by December and that is why President Umaru Yar’Adua is pumping money into the sector.

"Although MEND declared a 60-day ceasefire the damage caused by previous attacks was enormous.

"As part of remedial steps, the Federal Government is already looking forward to the United States (US) and Argentina for the supply of dry gas to put the power plants at optimal level.

"You know due to lack of dry gas, the hydro-power stations in Kainji, Shiroro, and Jebba are presently being overstretched. We cannot afford to wait till these hydro-plants breakdown before we act.

"The Minister of Power, Rilwanu Babalola, has been telling the Ministry of Petroleum Resources and the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (whose duty is to provide the dry gas) that time is running out. That is why we are looking towards the US and Argentina."

Asked what will become of the $2.6billion hitherto remitted to the JV partners, the source said: "We have a contractual obligation with them and if they can’t meet our target, there is a clause taking care of such an issue.

"I think JV partners understand the power situation we are confronted with. There is no cause for alarm."

Babalola on Saturday addressed the Board of Trustees of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) on the power situation.

A member of the BOT, who confided in The Nation, said: "The Minister assured us that the December target is still achievable for the 6,000MW.

"All our leaders, including ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo, were interested in having stable power supply nationwide. We are hopeful that the Minister’s assurance will come to pass."

http://thenationonlineng.net/web/articles/10976/1/US-Argentina-may-supply-gas-for-6000-MW/Page1.html

December is fast approaching
Anybody can say what they like, they have already started to invent excuses for December 2009. they remitted $2.6 billion dollars just like that. If they sit down with MEND and fix what is wrong that money could be saved. Our leaders are idioits, we are flaring, wasting gas, and then paying to import it. MADNESS, LUNANCY,

They always have hidden agenda. Our current supply is from hydro, they are balimg MEND, how can that be when the gas has yet to take effect.

Also the most dishonest thing about YAR A'LIAR December 2009  6000MW  declaration is that it mask the truth , that it was OBJ work they will be commissioning after 2 years of dragging their foot, reversal and re-reversal. basically it is the completion of the NIPP projects.

Although I agree with the Kolawole, BUT I balme OBJ who is the most VISIONLESS 'LEADER' that Nigerians have ever had.

He was in an unusal position twice with good opportunity to become a Nigerian icon and hero, he failed woefully. There are too many idiots in Nigeria politics. to the point that they make us look like idiots, because our'leaders' should be a representative of the best we can provide.

In 1979, OBJ gave the power to Shagari, because the North were blowing hot and cold.  Which lead us to SAP/IMF loan

In 2007, OBJ also gave power to YAR A'CLUELESS, our so called 'first graduate President'. I must say that in this day and age, from his performance so far, a secondary school drop out anywhere in the South will most likely do better.

The concept of having Federal character in govt because of our history in Nigerian  is commendale and necessary. However, any region that their own candidate does not do well should loose their slot.  So, we should start fighting hard for competency rather than mediocare we have been operating since independence.

I must also acknowledge that OBJ got bank consolidated through Soludo, and repay all Nigerian foreign debts( even though he could have used part of it to develop chunk of the country for greater economic growth)

He left well over $50 billion dollars in foreign reserve. Now, a lot of people may not understand that the foreign reserve is an equivalent of saving/insurance against raining day. That is the equivalent of 2 years Nigerian budget just in case MEND or anyone bomb us to stony ages.

My take, these  PDP govt of DO NOTHING will blow it as they did in 1979-83.

I have tried as much as possible to find another qualification or better way of referring to this President because we all have hope when he came in over 2 years ago with Rule of law, 7 pointless agenda, Visionless 2020, but all his appointment immediately make me  to come to the conclusion that the man is YAR A'LIAR.

He has promised to prove all of us wrong and shame us, and for the sake of Nigeria and Nigerians, please prove us wrong and put us to shame by DOING SOMETHING, FIX SOME OF THIS COUNTRY PROBLEM, STARTING WITH POWER.

YAR A'DOUBTFUL  is another thing that comes to my mind as I write that conclusion of hope.

Mr. President YAR A'DO NOTHING, you have been the President of this country for over 2 years from a 4 year term, and you have not done anything, can you please tell me what should inform Nigerian's by waiting for the end of your term to judge you. You don't have track record other than soundbite, 7 pointless agenda, visionless 2020, rebranding and repackaging.

If we have true election in this country and a legacy system, you will want to fight hard for Nigerians to see what you have done by 2nd year to justify starting to campaign at year 3 for re-election for 2nd term. and even if youspend 4 years for people to point to something as your legacies for whatever time you have spent in office. This is the major reason why we need ELECTORAL REFORM for true voter partcipation, and for votes to count.

'YOU CAN FOOL MOST PEOPLE MOST OF THE TIME BUT YOU CAN'T FOOL THEM ALL THE TIME'

If Mr. President YAR A'DULL has spend two years doing nothing, believe me, he has no chance when campaign start in a little over 6 months. He has lied about rule of law and declaration of emergency on power.

We have that from President Maradonna IBB asking us to judge him after his tenure before, and that history will judge him. That is just a cliche, the truth is that you have nothing on the ground anybody can judge you on, other than use of the office of the Presidency for 2 years not doing anything for Nigerians except you and your cronies pocket, exactly like IBB and OBJ did.

As for we NIGERIANS we have PRECEDENT from your Predecesors to work ON, you Mr. President have no track record either as Governor of Kastina State  for 8 years or the last 2 years as President to inform our confidence.  So, why should we wait for another 2 or 6 more years to judge you?

The useless and hopeless  govt we had in Nigeria want validation and are desperate to have OBAMA visit for photo opportunity and resources wasting in hosting and partying him, maybe even declare a public holiday.

They will ask OBAMA to come on a Monday. The civil servant will close on the previous Thursday to prepare for his arrival , the govt will declare Monday and Tuesday a public holiday for OBAMA visit, then the rest of the week will be recovery from tiredness from OBAMA send off, and work will resume next Monday.

This Maduekwe and his boss YAR A'DO NOTHING are just dreamers. Obama has enough in his plate to worry about visiting a govenment like we have. I am sure they will continue to beg him to come in advance of 2011 elections.

PLEASE STOP THE FIXTATION ON OBAMA, FIX ELECTRICITY, ROADS, AND OUR INFRASTRUCTURES.

ACTUALLY DO SOMETHING, STOP YOUR USELESS 7 POINTLESS AGENDA,
GET A BETTER VISION AND STOP YOUR VISIONLESS 2020 NOISEMAKING

stolen money in govt house.

Govt security agent in governors house in a govt property trying to steal governor's property that the governor has stolen from the people including the sss guy, so what is the problem?

Remember Barkin suwo former governor of kano state in the second republic.

Thief steal am, thief carry am. The guy must have seen his boss stashing away millions on weekly basis, and he didn't want to die of abject poverty.
PoliticsRe: MEND Attacks Lagos by vigasimple(m): 7:43pm On Jul 15, 2009
I am not sure who is behind the blowing of Atlas Cove in lagos.

Let us for argument sake agree that it is more likely to be MEND.  It is my opinion that MEND by this action has demonstrated and confirmed that they are a criminal organisation.

Their claim is that Shell , chevron and FG is on their land in Niger Delta, so has their land extend to Lagos?

Now, imagine if Lagosians, Yoruba, Igbo , hausa etc  were to attack Niger Delta, how would they feel?

The MEND and Niger Deltans are playing right into the Hands of the FG. Why don't they go to the seat of government in Abuja?

and also I noticed that the issues has degenarated to TRIBAL warfare between Yoruba and Igbo, again that is a mistake, our common enemy is our 'leaders'  who has not done anything for any part of the country other than share money in Abuja.

I think that the bombing by MEND in Lagos is a big mistake for MEND and they propably live to regret it.

@ kobojunkie

Whoever has the power is the one we should call out of what they do or are doing with the power.

If tommorrow, the AC or ANPP or a combination of them behave like PDP, we will call them out. If you have read any of my other posts, I have said that we don't have any opposition parties in Nigeria as AC ANPP etc are no diffrent from PDP( if not worse).

However, those other paties are NOT IN CHARGE as of today, so we should concentrate our energy on the party who has 'power' by whatever means either elected or selected to do the right by the people.

If, somehow we succeded in unseating them, (that is a BIG IF) the other parties will take notice.

That is exactly the OBAMA point, good and accountable democratic institutions that don't rely on Bribery and corruption.

Now this is what i call leadership.
Soyinka is the man, all the respect i have for him has just increased.
How can Obama visit a Nation that is so corrupt, messed up, lawless, care less about development, and practices demon-crazy?

“No country is going to create wealth if its leaders exploit the economy to enrich themselves, No business wants to invest in a place where the government skims 20 percent off the top, ” that is the word of a true leader in his address to parliament when he visited Ghana.
demon-crazy. demonstration of craziness etc  grin grin grin
that is what our 'leaders' practice and they don't give a toss whatever anyone says. Infact AKINYULI was celebrating her daughter's wedding on the day of OBAMA's visit to Ghana to do a news 'blanket' of the visit.

Thank God for other media outlet.

We all miss FELA ANIKULAPO KUTI may his soul rest in peace. he saw it and sang about it.

Nobel Laureate, Wole Soyinka has backed U.S President Barack Obama decision to visit Ghana. I'm suprised even after reading Femi Falana's stand on the issue.

The only way you could be surprised is if those things are not true, and you are paid agent of the PDP, the  DO NOTHING PARTY.

If you support fraudulent elections, corrupt and clueless leaders then you will see points in FALANA argument.

PoliticsRe: Falana Slams Obama Over Speech In Ghana. by vigasimple(m): 6:03pm On Jul 15, 2009
@ samparian and walakolobo

Thanks for you guys comment. OBAMA has said his own, if we like, let us blame the whole world for whatever the problem, as far as that which we should be concerned about, is finding solutions to our present predicament.

I have said it before, and I will repeat it again

1. LEADERSHIP
2. CORRUPTION
3. TRIBALISM
4. DIVERSION FROM REAL ISSUES- which Falana has now become part of.

I can continue with intellectual debate which is enriching BUT  i must consider FOOD NOW ON THE TABLE FOR THE HUNGRY and build infrastructures, systems and institutions of the future so that this generation and the ones yet to be born will see a future and have a sense of direction.

FALANA  is a waste of a space, OBAMA is the real deal and that is why he is today the President of the United State.

We in the South of Nigeria have too much academic knowledge and practical  little real world knowledge (the North posses that abundantly- they have used that to obtain or retain political power)
PoliticsRe: Falana Slams Obama Over Speech In Ghana. by vigasimple(m): 10:53pm On Jul 14, 2009
To sapeleguy  and kobojunkie

I am sorry to say that you guys are missing the point and digressing.

Part of the problem of us in the south is the 'intelectual argument' that has not got us anywhere in nearly 49 years of independence.
Remember the word KISS - keep it simple and stupid, our brothers in the North has done that since 1954 and control political power.

OBAMA said that our leaders are very corrupt and he indicated that yes some of our problem may be colonialism/imperialism etc, but we should value ourselves first and others will value us. We cannot conduct a mere election to elect leaders to give us basic necessities of life, like infrastrutures and FALANA  was doing the exact bidding of our dubious, dishonest and very corrupt , fraudluent government by adopting  the aged long tested tactics of diversion.

As I said before, we in Nigeria in particular and Africa at large are where we are today because of the corruption and inhumane treatment of our own people by the people leading us.

Just in 2007-2009, compare leadership of YAR A'DO NOTHING to FASHOLA. One has 8 years of direct CEO experience and has done NADA in 2 years, the other has 8 years  as chief of staff and has achieve so much in such period.

'YOU CAN PUT LIPSTICK ON A PIG, IT IS STILL A PIG'

Our 'leaders' are extraordinarily corrupt and on top of it shameless about it, and we to start to argue some other people policies that may or may not affect us is exactly what the 'ruling class' order- confusion , diversion of attention among us, the ordinary people.

OBAMA is spot ON, FALANA  is just seeking attention.

There is a Yoruba proverb that say

' We should call out a thief as a thief, rather than saying that the owner has made it accessible for the thief'

OUR LEADERS ARE THIEVES , IF THE ARE TO BE GIVEN THEIR RIGHT TITLE, FIRST CLASS THIEVES.

YAR A'LIAR

They spent the last 10 years making excuses and lamenting. Those are the trademark of  A DO NOTHING GOVERNMENT. You may want to add

YAR A'FAILURE

lamentation, excuses, diversion, rebranding, repackaging, visionless 2020,

PoliticsRe: Falana Slams Obama Over Speech In Ghana. by vigasimple(m): 12:08pm On Jul 14, 2009
Every country that has ever make serious progress always look inward and stop looking for real or imaginary enemies.

If we ever have a govt near Idiagbon, Nigerians will become discpline and patriotic, and we can then together fight our outside common enemy.

Our internal enemy are even stronger than the outer ones.

1. CORRUPTION
2. AWFUL LEADERSHIP
3. TRIBALISM
4. DIVERSION FROM REAL ISSUES- which Falana is helping to do in this case

Falana may have one or two point BUT he is basically diluting OBAMA strong message to our' leaders' who are bleeding us to death, and trying blaming foreign powers.

WHAT DID FALANA SAID WHEN RUSSIAN PRESIDENT CAME SOME FEW WEEKS BACK AND SIGN NUCLEAR CONTRACT?

I think Falana just want cheap publicity and he may be suffering from ASD- attention seeking deficiency.

OBAMA  has told our 'leaders' and ourselves the truth. We can either take it or leave it. We should take our own future into our own hands, and stop complaining about colonialism  or whatever. Even our own people are more wicked than the colonial masters. Most of the things in Nigeria today is built by the colonial masters.

An average African trust a white person more than his/her own people with some justifications.

NIGERIA: GOOD PEOPLE, GREAT NATION, AWFUL LEADERSHIP grin grin grin
PoliticsRe: Why Didn't Obama Apologise To Africa? by vigasimple(m): 8:47pm On Jul 13, 2009
Edoji:
My detractors on this trade entirely misses the point. They fails to appreciate that one set of truth does not render another set of truth irrellevant.

That President Obama spoke some home truths to African leaders does not belie the fact that he failed to admit the dubious role America has played that contributed to the ills of the African continent.

Even a white British, Richard Dowden in his article 'Fine words, but will Africa Listen' (here http://www.elombah.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=1134:fine-words-but-will-africa-listen-richard-dowden&catid=36:omoba&Itemid=59) said

"There are, on reflection, things that Obama might also have mentioned, for example America's $31bn in subsidies for US farmers which squeeze some African farmers out of the market. And Obama, always careful to say he is American but of African parentage, leapt from colonial times to the present without mention of the US role in supporting dictators during the Cold War, an apology many Africans would like to hear".

He added:
"Obama made no mention of the US's own economic interests in Africa which have frequently overruled the democratic, good governance agenda which he spelled out on Saturday".

I have written other articles that was prescient on Obama's speech last Saturday approvingly here(http://www.elombah.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=517:barack-obama-and-the-corruption-of-african-leaders&catid=25:politics&Itemid=37)

But that does not belie the truthfullness of what I said above.
You are the one missing the point. You are the equivalent of David Mark(senate President) who said Nigerians have nothing to apologise for in respect of 419 yahozee people and blaming it on greedy foreigners.

We should take out foreigners out of the equation and sort out our fraud minded youths and leaders which was the only leesson taught by those leaders to the youth.(even though David mark may have a point)

Whatever the ills of foreigners, let us fix our own home. OBAMA was able to apologise to those other ountries because they are making progress despite US policies etc in those countries. Holocust was not caused by the Americans.

OUR OWN PROBLEM IS HOME MADE. CORRUPTION BY OUR 'LEADERS'. Why should OBAMA apologise for vote rigging by PDP in Nigeria. or OBJ and
YAR A'CLUELESS misrule? my friend, you don't get it.

If OBAMA had apologised, he would have diluted the message
AFRICAN LEADERS need to hear, and you sound like one who wishes the message be diluted for whatever reason.

STOP FINDING AN EXCUSE AND LET US CALL THIEVES OUT FOR WHAT THEY ARE. EVEN THEY THE LEADERS CANNOT COMPLAIN BECAUSE THEY KNEW IT IS THE TRUTH
PoliticsRe: Why Didn't Obama Apologise To Africa? by vigasimple(m): 2:05pm On Jul 13, 2009
Just to make the poster a little bit more stupid.

OBAMA in his speech said that colonialism is wrong as much as holocust  (he made that comparism to his visit to Bucenwad-in Germany).

So what should he apologies for and what would the apology do for you. It was your forefathers who were selling their own people into slavery in the first place, and those slaves are being treated as second hand citizens.

But the same America has the decency without name recognition or godfatherism elect OBAMA as the first African American president based on his ability.

Your own people(GOVERNMENT) kept you down, raped you and your resources, throw stupid parties all over the place. store your monies in foreign account. Did not use your monies to provide any infrastuctures for you, and you did not ask them for apologies.

DAFTNESS IS ONE THING BEING VERY STUPID IS ANOTHER MATTER.
A COMBINATION OF BOTH IS DANGEROUS.
