PoliticsRe: Oath-taking Lawmaker Apologies by vigasimple(m): 5:51pm On Jun 30, 2009
A thought just came to my mind while reading this.

It appears that blood oath taking is more powerful and put this politician in check. Why don't we just introduce BLOOD OATH TAKING and SANGO(IRON) SWEARING into our constitution.

The blood oath should start by saying that I,  so so so and so swear a bload oath or swear by sango that IF I WERE TO STEAL OR EMBEZEL PUBLIC MONIES to die of coughing blood to death immediately or if swearing is by iron to die by thunder striking to death.

Beleive me, we will have politicians that will sit tight and stop stealing this country resources.

And knowing Nigerian politicians, they will immediately invent fake blood oath or fake iron from china or remedy after taking the oath. It is always difficult to stop a determined thief from being a thief.

Put cash on the bed and asked the girls to sleep with you they will not hesitate, cash is king as they say.

The new owner of the position only has 2 years to function before parilament is disolved - What a joke
The above is the major problem in election and petition thereof. The whole process of election challenge should be done within 3- 6 months and no one should be sworn in before the outcome.

It will stop the abuse by an illegal winner to spend 2 years and wasted monies of the government.

Now for the record, what will you call Kila, an ex senator or one that has never win, and spend 2 years being called senator. The issues is so bad when it come to Governor or Local govt chairman as they are CEO of their state or local govt. If they have policies or manifestos, they will have operated on another party for 2 years.

The law should be amended to account for this.

I believe this story is just a propaganda on the part of Gbenga Daniel because he is the owner of Compass Newspaper and can print whatever news he wants.
I have no opinions about their rituals and oaths, they needed the political power and office to defraud the state and make illegal wealth as a result they will do anything that it takes. Who knows, some of it may even be comical and pretending but since the power grabber need it, he will do anything.

Take for example, a 419 'Pastor' on those 419 eater, the fake pastor will do whatever the 'mugus' ask them to do to get the money.

My only contribution is that , this is propably true, both OGD and that guy knew it, otherwise, the oath taking lawmakwer or lawbreaker would have bring action for defamation of character, if he has any character left.

The only action OBJ can starr in will be a POLITICAL ACTION MANOUVERING MOVIE, and it can only be produced, directed and marketed in Nollywood or at most Bollywood.

OBJ may be crude but he has actions, he also lack vision and does not understand meaning of legacy otherwise he will have spend his political capital on electricity and good succession, I dare say power should have gone to South South at minimum rather than allowing power back up North to the people who have not move Nigeria forward in almost 40 years of their rule.

10,000 girls is plausible. Nigeria has a population of over 150 million people,we can donate 10,000 ashewos to every nation and still be overpopulated. grin
At first, I thought that it was impossible, but I did the calculation, there are about 200 countries in the world, and If Nigeria were to 'donate' 10,000 women each to those countries, it will amount to 2 million, it may sound a lot but from 140 million, it is about 1.43% of our 'official censure population'

Litmus:
Nigerians are so gullible.

Most of the so-called prostitutes in Spain from Africa were not Nigerians nor were most of those in Italy. I did a little research on the matter. Anyway, outside black Africa and increasingly worldwide the new word for African is Nigerian. These days, Eeveryone is Nigerian.
It appeasr that you may be the one that is gullible. The majority of black people in Europe and the west or other countries are Nigerians, and they came mainly from South mid west (EDO in particular, and some DELTA), But it will not be all of them. As far as that business is concern it is a family business in those areas for some generations. It is a question of honour for the girls to go abroad and make monies for the family.

Kobojunkie:
Ok, I have to ask @Vigasimple. What is with your obsession with this man?? Why is it that most all your posts are about him? Sort of like @Chidichris most always brings everything back to OBJ, no matter how removed. lol
I have no obsession with YAR A'CLUELESS other than that I am so angry that NIGERIA IS NOT MOVING. our so called first graduate President, he said he will be servant leader, rule of law , 7 point agenda , vision 2020,  honest government etc.

1. Now, let us start with his graduate, does he fare better that a failed GCSE student?.

2. Servant leadership- what exactly is he leading ? - OBJ  may be a grarrison commander but at least he lead in a way. He assemble some technocrat to solve the banking situation etc

3. Rule of law,- really?, when he cladestinely removed Ribadu from EFCC sending him to college under a false pretence and appointing someone else to his office while at college.

4. 7 point agenda- once comedian start to make something a joke, it is indeed a joke. The joke in town is now let him do 1 point agenda. Do you know the whole 7 point agenda, if you do, please name them, if you finish naming them, please tell me after 2 years in office which of them has he carried out.

5. Vision 2020 - Nigeria is presently about 40 or 50 leading economy in the world, 2020 is barely 11 years from here and having wasted 2 years, election campaign to start next year, you sincerely think that we will not move southwise rather upward to 30something

6. When the guy was campaigning in April 2007 before the election he said that ' he will declare emergency on power within 100 days of assuming office' , we are now well over 750 days he still hasn't done so, on the most important problem of our times.

7. HONESTY. The guy is very sick, and obvious, and he is in denial. If one is very fit mentally but unfit physically it will affect productivity.  I am not a doctor but I am connvinced that he is not fit physically and  mentally (like most of our former President who are not fit mentally). The first attribute of a leader or a good one is to be honest with people as much as possible. If he is doing his job he may succeed in masking his illness BUT one brought the question about the other.

If Nigeria is YAR A'DO NOTHING  father's business he will never employ someone like himself.

I hope you understand my anger now rather than obsession,

This is when YAR A'CLUELESS was in the PRP Peoples Redemption Party) of Late malam Aminu Kano NOT now that Mr. President has sold his soul to the Poverty development party (PDP).

You will notice that one is a peoples redemption party and the other one is a poverty development party, quite a contrast.

That apart, his own father the senior Musa Yar A'dua belongs to the old National party and was a minister in the first republic. His brother, the friend of OBJ Sheu Musa Yar A'dua also got a lot of money from being a military guy and member of the Predecessor to PDP.

Don't judge the book by its cover, YAR A'DULL is know to live modestly BUT has A LOT OF MONEY STACK AWAY. If you don't believe me go and look at his Assets declaration, where did a lecturer got so much money.

Let no one be fooled, he may live modestly BUT  he has NIGERIAN DOSH from HIS FATHER Loot during the First Republic and all the 'GIFTS' from his late brother. THEY ARE NIGERIAN MONEY.period

Gov. Isa Yaguda of Bauchi State (who I believed won the election on the platform of ANPP) is back again in the PDP. This governor is the in law of YAR A'CLUELESS , our dear servant leader President.

The news was carried on the NTA tonight. My concern is that this cross carpeting business is a disgrace to our politics. You win election (by using another party platform, their policies and programm) and then abandon that party in the middle of your term.

My questions to the forum is that should our law not say that such politcians either governor or president first resign, and call an election for him/her to be ratified.

What are you guys take on this?

PoliticsRe: Nigeria At 50 by vigasimple(m): 6:36pm On Jun 27, 2009
Please stop trying to run before you can crawl, Nigeria is not yet 49, and the way our servant leader is running the country, what are the assurance that we will make 49 not to start to talk of 50.

If one applies simple rule of logic, we are not likely to see anything different except high budget to celebrate 50 anniversary with importations of party stuff, and 140million events organisers every part of the country.

Shakespeare once said that ' a fool at forty is a fool for ever' that is some many many years ago. A fool at 49 or 50 , well that is it, it will be
re-adjusted after re-incernation.

The bottom line is that for some strange reasons we have being cursed with bad LEADERSHIP since independent. Not that the followers themselves fare too much better. But once you have set of good LEADERS, what you are going to have is subtly re-orienting the people or maybe radically revolutionise them( like JJ Rawlings did in Ghana).

Until then, we are likely to continue with 7 POINTLESS AGENDA,
VISIONLESS 2020,  leading to REBRANDING and REPACKAGING 2009. The purpose of REBRANDING and REPACKAGING  is DIVERSION 2010 for (SELECTION) ELECTION 2011.

This question was first asked in 2007, about 2 years ago. I wonder if anyone can tell me what, if any improvement has been made since then.

Nigeria is NOT a developed nation, it is between standstill (sometimes retro) and developing.

We sometime takes 2 steps forward and take 5 steps backwards. OBJ with his limitation did some basic stuffs and his friend's brother YAR A'CLUELESS came and all he could do is first reverse, then reverse himself again.

Example is the power projects. He still hasn't  declare any emergency and he lies too much.
PoliticsRe: 5 Million Nigerians Worth More Than $1 Million Dollars by vigasimple(m): 12:43am On Jun 27, 2009
There are just over 10 million  millionaires in the world before the credit crunch since then, there are now only 8.6million millionaires in the WORLD, so the figure of 5million millionaires in Nigeria is VERY OVERBLOWN even with all the executhieves and fraud House and Senate members, including the military.

Just a raw poll, at most 250,000 people, and that includes all those people who got their money illegitimately which are in the majority.

Also there is a difference between Gross worth and net worth. The later is used as a proper measure, the former includes liabilities which sometimes are much larger than assets, don't ask me how this happens.

What they are doing with their monies is another matter.
PoliticsRe: Governorship, A Criteria For Presidency by vigasimple(m): 3:24pm On Jun 26, 2009
The isssue the poster is alluding to is track record and antecedent. In a society that things work properly, executive experence, as in a CEO of a state is a good starting point but must not be limited to it.

LEADERSHIP is the main criteria that we should be looking for whether you are a former Governor, Senator, house member etc as long as you have good leadership skills everything else will fall into places.

You can get the gist of my view by comparing and contrasting
YAR A'CLUELESS who is a governor of a state for 8 years who has no clue what he is doing or what he needs to do except Tv jingle of 7 POINTLESS AGENDA and VISIONLESS 2020.

Then compare that with OBAMA with barely 4 years of Senate experience but with a background of community service, and extraordinary leadership skills. He started a movement that have the whole world energised for his command of issues and engaging the next generation of Americans , and the youth all over the world.

The other problem we have in Nigeria apart from godfatherism, lack of leadership and dubious people is lack of good institutions. When you have a good , enduring institutions, it will matter not who is the President because the institutions will play a big role in shaping him/her.

Without good institutions in America, GW Bush will have fininsh that country (USA) completely rather than the near bankruptcy he left the country. He GW Bush is a fool but the systems and institutions did not let him wreck the whole country completely.

Both writers have their point.

Unfortunately the ABATI's generation who are still ruling this country brought all the shame to us.

They themselves are so corrupt and have no LEADERSHIP materials that they lack the moral authority to tell the youth anything what they can , should do or not do.

I wish our 'leaders' past and present should apologise for failing Nigerians, seek forgiveness and restart decently rather than ask us to rebrand and repackage when they continue to steal nations resources like there is no tommorrow.

If you ask me bluntly , may God punish them from generations to generations those executhieves.
PoliticsRe: How Do We Stop This Re-branding movement? by vigasimple(m): 5:40pm On Jun 25, 2009

Until the LEADERSHIP and people at the helm begin to show honesty it is the same story. Things like WAI became succesful because the messanger is carrying the message truthfully and leading by example.

I am only sorry for madam nafdac because all the reputation she built up will be soiled by 2011.

Twelve years after their conviction, former Chief of General Staff, Lt. General Oladipo Diya, and 44 other military officers, convicted in the General Sani Abacha coups of 1995 and 1997 are to finally get presidential pardon and amnesty today.

This followed the recommendation of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM), which was approved by President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and to be considered for final reprieve today by the National Council of State meeting scheduled to hold in Abuja.

Others to be granted the presidential pardon and compensation include: Major Generals Abdulkareem K. Adisa (deceased) Tajudeen Olarewaju, Col. Lawan Gwadabe, 41 Other officers, four other ranks, a current serving Senator Chris Anyanwu, the late Dr. Beko Ransome-Kuti and a journalist, the late Bagauda Kalto, former special adviser to the Chief of General Staff, Professor Odekunle, an activist, Comrade Shehu Sani and two State Security Service operatives, namely, Anthony Awoloyi and Julius Badejo.

In a document, exclusively obtained by Daily Sun with serial number CS (2009)6 dated 23rd June 2009, copies of which have been given to state governors, former Heads of State, Senate president and speaker of the House of Representatives, President Yar’Adua has accepted to grant the former convicts presidential pardon in accordance with the provisions of 175 of the 1999 Constitution.

The document prepared to apprise the National Council of State of the intention of President Yar’Adua to grant the ex-convicts presidential pardon to eligible prison inmates, is categorized into four different groups for which the first set included 68 persons convicted by the Abacha administration for alleged participation in the 1995 and 1997 phantom coup d’état but most of whom are no longer in detention and were earlier granted clemency.

The presidential document further stated that those in the first category, even though were granted clemency, but not full pardon thus their property were still forfeited, while category two contained list of 87 persons who are 60 years and above serving various terms in prisons all over the country. Category three included 12 eligible serving prisoners convicted of federal offences.

The fourth category comprised 2 persons, namely the former Managing Director of Bank of the North (BoN), Alhaji Shettima Mohammed Bulama and Dr. Chiichii Ashwe, who were convicted for contravening financial laws but crave for the removal of the stigma attached to their names for purposes of re-integration into the society.
In the recommendation of the presidential pardon to the Council of State, following the advice of the Presidential Advisory Committee on Prerogative of Mercy (PACPM) for 2009, the debilitating ill-health likely to incapacitate or terminate in death of the inmates, as well as young persons of 16 years and below and all those that have spent 15 years and above on life sentence were part of the consideration for the presidential pardon.

The list of other military officers granted the presidential pardon include; Colonels G. A. Ajayi, O. Oloruntoba, R. S. B. Bello-Fadile, R. N. Emokpae, J. Isa, Olu Craig, E. I. Jando, D. Ndubueze and Y. Bako, while those in the Lt. Col. group include K. H. Bulus, S. E. Oyewole, M. A. Igwe, R. K. Obiki, C. P. Izeogu, O. L. Nyong, V. O. Bamgboye and S. B. Mepaiyeda.

Others are A. Lawal, M. A. Ajayi. G. P. Okiki, O. O. Akiode (deceased), Navy Cdr, D. A. Omessa, L. M. Fabiyi, Majors J. O. Edeh, E. Obalisa, N. U. Okoro, A. Umar, A. A. Akinyemi, O. O. Fadipe, B. Mohammed, Capt. A. A. Ogunsuyi, U.S.A. Suleiman, M. A. Ibrahim, Lt. Olowookere (Navy), Lt. D. K. Olowomoran, 2nd Lt. R. Emouhe, Sgts. M. Potiskum, and P. Usikpeko (deceased) as well as Cpl. Godspower Ogbinovia.

Affected journalists include Bagauda Kalto (deceased), Ben Charles Obi, Kunle Ajibade, George Mbah, and Niran Malaolu, amongst others.
All the former convicts in the Abacha coup of 1995 and 1997 are being granted presidential amnesty and compensation including those dead.

I have several observations to make .

1. This is DIVERSION 2011 FOR SELECTION 2011

2.You have a sitting senator who is an ex convict, is he cleared or dischrged and acquitted before becoming a memeber of the law making bodies, if not can anybody obeys laws make by convicted felon, NOTWITHSTANDING that majority of the others are not yet convicted criminals.

3. The so called coup as I see it only seems to involve a lot of Yoruba officers and some Ibo and other minorities?

4. We need good opposition NOT abig umbrella PDP THIEVS AND A DO NOTHING PARTY.

The problem here is that YAR A'DYING is just the head of  A DO NOTHING PARTY  IN NAME ONLY like SHAGARI in 1979-1983 but the real power lies somewhere else. since he is just a figure head and don't do anything than shaking hands.

Maybe we should revert back to parliamentary system of govt, and have Prime Minister who isactive, agile and able, and also have a head of state who is a constitutional head ( and allow people who want to be called President to be so).

If you look closely at YAR A'DO NOTHING, he has actually become a distraction from the business of governace. It is very clear that he is very sick and continue in self denial. Concealment is usaully bigger than the crime. If he has been able to run the country well, I will care less if he want to put his own health in jeopardy. Selective, subjective, opposition attack dog.

You can accuse RIBADU of whatever you want to, or for him fleeing for his dear life,BUT let it be said and on record that EFCC under him fought corruption, and as he Ribadu predicted corruption fought back to the extent they rubbish him and painted him with whatever brush they like.

What the present govt and their cronies want to achieve is exactly what they are achieving, and even get ordinary members of the public like me and yourselves to buy their rubbish.

On main question we need to ask ourselves to expose their lies is WHY DID YAR A'LIAR NOT SAY THAT RIBADU IS UNFIT, INSURBODINATE OR CORRUPT AND REMOVE HIM DIRECTLY?

What did they do instead, they send him to some dodgy school in Kuru while YAR A'CLUELESS is maintaing that he is not being removed when the whole Nigeria knows that is exactly what they are doing through the back door.

Ask yourself another important question, WHEN IN THE HISTORY OF NIGERIA BEFORE RIBADU DID ANY POWERFUL PERSON GOT PROSECUTED LET ALONE GOES TO PRISON. NADA

Having said that, I think it is apperas that the appointment is intentional. The PDP led govt of President YAR A'CLUELESS  is playing politics here, they want to find someone with little intellect to further weaken our university system.

YAR A'DO NOTHING may have a degree from a converted college of commerce or science himself that does not equate to LEADERSHIP, and the only thing missing in Nigeria is GOOD LEADERSHIP.

If you give a bad leader, the product will be further bad leaders. Can anyone, the lecturers or student respect someone who has no proper qualification. The answer is certainly NO.

But President YAR A'LIAR kept lying and in SELF DENIAL about his health. There is a latin word we lawyers use, RES IPSA LOQUITO, meaning

PoliticsRe: Is This Self Praise Or What? by vigasimple(m): 8:46pm On Jun 23, 2009
If our 'leaders' including the President are mediocare, anybody can feel justified to 'celebrate' or publish their achievement.

The gentleman or lady in question may think he has done very well, yes he has and we  should commend him BUT unfortunately the LEADERSHIP  in this country who are suppossed to be the leader , ambassador, and role model upon which the world assess us are CERTIFIED FRAUDSTERS.

The majority of our leader actually have a PHD in FRAUD, whether it is election fraud since that is how they got into office or their performance which is stealing monies from national treasury on minute by minute basis, and most importantly THEY DONT HAVE SHAME. They store this money in foreign countries while their people are hungry.

I don't know how old is the guy BUT is making more mockery of himself. Nobody is saying that all Nigerians are fraudster but majority of 'our leaders' are. That is a fact, and you can take that to the bank and cash it. So when leaders are thieves, then unjustifiable as it may seems, the outside world takes the followers to follow such example. And again a lot of Nigerians abroad want share of national cake.

If on the other hand you have been paid by PDP govt led by
YAR A'DO NOTHING to help Madam Nafdac to rebranding you have not succeded, YAR A'LIAR and his people should rebrand themselves first, the Nigeria will automatically rebrand. Rememebr IDIAGBON on war against indiscpline.

They should stop election fraud and thugerry, stop stealing Nigeria money, provide electricity , good roads, and I will be the first to travel the world on my own money to broadcast about Nigeria to the whole world.

As the saying goes 'IF YOU PUT A LIPSTICK ON A PIG, IT IS TSILL A PIG'    sorry Mr. President this is 2009. You mr. president has a very bad health and you are still lying and you want people to start telling the truth, what kind of leadership is that. I called it VISIONLESS 2020.

I completely agree with you, even though a lot of people have not stop to think about it seriously. They spend too much time on the negatives

NYSC conceptually and to some extent in practice is THE BEST thing that has happen for the UNITY of Nigeria.

We need inter tribal understanding, marriages and organizations. A simple raw poll on nairaland will tell you that we still have big and serious Tribal lack of trust for different reasons, some true and some not true.

Whenever you can get people of different Tribes and languages together and open up dialogue, inter marry etc, you are likely to have better understanding and mutual respect.

NYSC  have much challenges operationally BUT in terms of it as MODEL, it is like a BIG BRAND NAME, and  it is very succesful especially when young youth meet each other and become friends and even marry, they realised that we are just dividing ourselves out of the fear of the unknown, and bad history between good and great people of this country.

May be we should wait till he's offered N25M before we can confirm his claims undecided
Seun has already make it clear that he will only talk if N25 BILLION is on the table. You can read all his post on this matter.

Now if YAR A'FAILURE can offer him a BANK licence and capitalization of
N25 BILLION I think I will advise him to take it but N25 million I won't be a party to that, as a Lawyer if he retains me to advise him I will tell him to give YAR A'LIAR the fingers.

He has said repeatedly that he will only consider N25 billion to enable him open his own bank.

YAR A'HOPELESS can keep his ' N20 stolen millions' .

The niger deltan one bazooka is worth more than that from the FG, so why will the intellectual powerhouse of Nigeria be offerred N20million.

This is the peoples national assembly where we can bash anyone without throwing punches and chairs, and the mace.

If you the poster are thinking of buying NAIRALAND, it is available for N30 Billion naira, and I will do the negotiation etc. you pay more if you are not FG or YAR A' DO NOTHING as it will not be used for rebranding by yourselves. you gerr it.

Yes with MIRACLES from the good LORD all things are possible.

Now, I cannot second guess how God will do it, because he is mysterious.

One thing I know for sure God always raise LEADERS to lead in anything he want to be accomplished. From Abraham, Noah, to Moses, David etc.

God business is the business of Miracles and he can do the unthinkable BUT he will ask someone competent to LEAD. when we have a LEADER, then miracle can commence. All the leader has to do is to LEAD, his qualification, age etc is immaterial.

In law, there is a saying 'RES IPSA LOQUITO' it is a latin word meaning that LET THE THING SPEAK FOR ITSELF.

They can do more than cyber warfare, the facts of YAR A'LAIR
NON ACHIEVEMENT can speak for itself.

The English equivalent is ACTION SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS.
YAR A'DULL knows thate he has NO ACTION but all talk and no trouser. Believe it or not TALK IS CHEAPER.
