klas:When i meant no one gave the order, i was directly referring to the head of state, http://allafrica.com/stories/200908050058.html It will be helpful if you could provide valid references to where the then commissioner of police was promoted to Assistant Inspector General! |
your arguement is weak.are you saying yardua didn't have or give order for the crackdown on the boko haram leader which its ultimate goal would also to have him captured or killed ?
Yes he {Yardua} did, but he was captured, not killed in action!. . . Once he was captured, the process is to prosecute him through appropriate channels, the Nigerian Police failed in this regard! It is only justifiable to kill him if he was exchanging live rounds with the Police. Osama on the other hand has been declared an enemy of the United States, and the US congress has authorized a resolution which allows for the use of force against all perpetrators of the 911 attacks to either be apprehended alive or brought in dead. |
klas:It's too early in the morning to be smoking deep shít! The goal in any operation as in crack down of miscreants or terrorist, is to apprehend them alive if possible, and in turn, bring them to face Justice. The Boko Haram leader was captured, handcuffed and killed by the Nigerian Police, ---- I will repeat those words again "Captured and Killed"!, no one gave the order, the Police simply took over the responsibilities of the courts to implement Judgement. Osama's case is a completely different scenario, the standing order on Osama is to either capture or killed in action. whichever is more convinient, clearly the Americans would have preferred the former! |
if the queen is just a figure head and powerless as you suggest ,why are they still maintaining the monarchy system ?
simple! Because it brings money to Britain! |
The people of britain have been agitating against the british monarchy for long, how many times do you get to hear them or is the government suppressing them ?
Which people of Britain are agitating against the monarchy? ---- Mostly the minority i guess! |

. . . . wtf is using Ice cubes to cool off? whatever happened to the ol' man to hand relationship? that asides, the story is too entertaining to be true, sounds like something someone somewhere imagined! . . .{like the sorts of stories with a predictable ending} |
Dyt:ah!. . .you knew this since babyhood? what kinds of baby do we bring forth to the world these days self? they knew of MouthAction in their first two hours of life! |
@OP: Firstly the British Queen is the Queen of the United Kingdom NOT England. Calling her the Queen of England is an error, It would be just as accurate to call her Queen of Wales or Scotland or N. Ireland. Telling you exactly what the Queen's powers are is complicated because the UK does not have a comprehensive written constitution. This means that the Queen in written law has vast sweeping powers but in reality the Queen only executes these in line with the elected government of the days wishes In foreign matters, she retains the authority to declare war on any country! In terms of net worth, Buckingham Palace, is state owned, and although she sits on billions in pounds, they are mostly owned by the British government |

just watching that you tube video makes me think WTF does this dude bring to the table when quality of governance is being measured? |
“That the present. . .the FG should simply shut the fúck up!. . I have stopped counting the number of times i've heard this statement from this spineless administration! It's almost as though they now just copy and paste past comments, nothing special, no big deal, all simply empty promises. |
. . . . and boom! the same rascal under whose tenure Oyo citizens have experienced untold hardship, has suddenly become commendable in the eyes of Nairalanders for accepting defeat from an opposition he had earlier on frustrated with the power of his office! His sins can now be forgiven, his loot shall be remembered no more, let's give him a national award and name landmarks after him. In Nigeria, once you don't show people the worst of your animalistic ability, then you are likely to earn a sit amongst the gods!. . .same way some donut-headed fellow forumites think it's appropriate to thank the President for not rigging the elections. a big shior! |

Go back and read again you ídiot, the question i was asking was NOT about the justification of the war in Libya!. . .the question was more centered on the fact that no one would fart just because "Putin lashes out" |
sorry o |
Sun of god:or what? even Putin's árse is roastable! |
The fact that the country is conducting another election when hundreds are still being slain from a post electoral violence says a lot on the value the government places on human lives. From all indication, it seem as though everyone, everywhere, save the families of the victims have come to regard these things as normal. Very shameful and disappointing I must add. In any sane country, all elections would have been placed on hold pending the time peace is fully restored, anything short of this would have been met with massive civil actions such as strike or protests at the National Assembly. Sadly in Nigeria, everything goes, or so they say! It's a very shameful thing, those corpers, and thousands of other residents who have died from the violence have died in vain, and their country will simply move on as if it's just another stressful month! |
Nigeria will proceed with national gubernatorial elections Tuesday, despite continuing violence that has raised fears that an Islamist group will step up attacks against voters. Bomb blasts Monday in Nigeria's northeastern state of Borno killed three people and wounded dozens, police said. In one of three blasts, a bomb thrown from a motorcycle on which two young men were riding detonated, resulting in the three fatalities, said Michael Zukoma, police commissioner for Borno state. Nigerian police told CNN that Boko Haram, an Islamist sect that has challenged Nigeria's government, is responsible for the attacks, which they described as an attempt to intimidate voters who this month re-elected President Goodluck Jonathan, an Ijaw Christian from the south. The explosions occurred a day after the Nigerian Red Cross reported that rural villages had held mass burials in northern Nigeria. Witnesses say that violence in the wake of Jonathan's election has resulted in hundreds of deaths, though there is no official death toll. The government has provided few details. This month's election of Jonathan, who is from the majority-Christian southern part of the country, sparked violence in the Muslim-dominated north last week. Concerns about ongoing violence led Nigerian election officials last week to delay the planned gubernatorial elections in two of Nigeria's 36 states. Voters in Kaduna and Bauchi states will go to the polls Thursday. Northern Muslims in some areas charged that the presidential election was rigged. Armed protesters in the region took to the streets chanting the name of former military ruler Muhammadu Buhari, the main opposition front-runner. The last election, four years ago, was widely condemned for rampant vote rigging, violence, theft of ballot boxes and intimidation. While this month's presidential election was marred by violence, reports of underage voting and logistical problems, observers said they considered it an improvement. After he was declared the victor, Jonathan warned that persistent post-election violence could threaten the stability of the country. "These acts of mayhem are sad reminders of the events which plunged our country into 30 months of an unfortunate civil war," Jonathan said last week. Jonathan was referring to a period of unrest in the 1960s that spawned a civil war in Nigeria. Nigeria is Africa's largest oil producer and its most populous nation, with 150 million people. |
