Jobs/VacanciesRe: I Got The Police Job, Now I'm More Confused by vislabraye(m): 8:26am On Dec 08, 2016
kissGuys:
...please read carefully...

i am still very young.. in my late teens now...the last out of six siblings...done with secondary school....bt couldn't further because of finance....

right now tho...the last thing on my mind is furthering my education ...thing is...i see it as a waste of time and money...even though i intend going back...bt that will be when i have made some cool cash...

so...for at least two years since i rapped up secondary school...i have been working as a sales person for people...with few ups and downs once in a while...

then...the opportunity to join the Nigerian police came...right at the peak of a frustrating time...so i thought less before registering for constable cadre....went through all the processes...and now am selected...#do note that i did this with little or no help from anyone...so i think the selection this time is on merit#

bt the problem now is that...i have a bigger dream...i intend going into business if my brother will help...the NPF..tho is good bt..then wont give me the financial buttress that i aim for...

their salary scale is quite poor...imagine making sales of eighty thousand naira in 3days for my present boss...thats like the salary of an inspector...and we all know how long it takes to get to this rank....17 to 20 yrs.. just to be paid that amount...its quite dis-heartening... i blv starting a business will be more fruitful than joining the force...

bt on the other hand...i have no serious capital to start a business and i dont know if my brothers will be willing to support me financially...am quite skeptical about that...

so thats were the confusion sets in...i might reject the offer and my brothers may later disappoint me...i might take the job...bt will not be fulfilled knowing i would have been making much more money doing business.....

pls what is the best thing to do on this issue ??
am terribly confused
See, take the police job. QED.

You see education as a waste if time and money ? huh . That's the height of ignorance. Well, it's a personal thing, though. If you want to join the police, you'll need to further you education to go far.
But since you want to do business, not bad too. Are you sure your brothers you're hoping on will be able to give you the capital when needed?

Nellybii:
I and my wife are nairalanders since 2013, I have a testimony to give. Like numerous other Nigerian families, we have unemployed graduates in my family. Two weeks ago, my wife and younger brother who both have been unemployed for 6 years got selected in the N-POWER scheme. The real shocker was yesterday. My wife was on nairaland as usual she pointed out that the police cadet result was out. My younger brother that did the interview just decided to check the list reluctantly because we thought it was impossible to be selected a police cadet officer in Nigeria without bringing notes from the governor or senator. To our surprise his name was there!!! He read Elect Engineering and has been unemployed for 7 years. We shouted and jumped up and down, made so much noise that I lost my voice. Neighbors had to come to see why we made so much noise.
Now I have seen Real CHANGE in my family. Three federal jobs in two weeks without knowing anybody in Abuja. Just by browsing the net and applying online. Truly there is new hope and beginning for Nigeria. I pray that others looking for jobs will find favor too soon.
God bless PMB.
God bless Nigeria
God bless nairaland.
Thank God for you...

You don't even believe that. You and I both know that when the oil isn't flowing the Naira is worth less. This could have been avoided but the NDA wanted to cripple the economy. I don't know which economy the rest of you rely upon but mine is Nigeria's. So this is the aggregate result of many things but mainly due to the yearlong bombings of NDA.
So what is Bubu doing to stop the bombings ?

Geraldyne:
Hi,
Its not a friends story or from a blog, its mine and I want you all to read and give me matured advice.

I've been in a relationship for almost 8 months now and everytime I go to visit my boyfriend..he must demand sex, even if I say am on my period.
Sometimes I just get furious and say am no longer interested in the relationship and he starts begging and because I love him, I forgive him.
He'll stop that for a while, then start it all over again.

He doesn't consider my feelings at times, there was a certain time I was still mourning the death of my cousin,he came around and after symphatizing with me,he wanted us to have sex..Gosh! I was so pissed.

The one that pissed me off the most was last night, after having like 5 rounds,I felt sore all over, I told him that and he stopped, then this morning, while I was trying to pray,he started touching me again saying he wants me.

I don't just understand whether this is normal, sometimes I just displease myself to please him but still he's not satisfied.

Am confused on whether to quit or not,cos apart from the sex thing,he still has his good sides and I dont want to make a wrong decision.

pls advice a confused sister...thanks

Izen:
I have one honest question for men tho. What else do you really have to offer in a relationship besides finance? Most women have been taught to lose every thing about themselves for the man they love since childhood. The only compensation they've been taught to expect is in terms of finance. So if men hate providing in this generation, what else do they really have to offer?
I'm asking it maybe because it beats me when I hear thing like this especially on Nairaland. It's like no one even values the role women play again. I keep imagining how I would have turned out if my mum didn't have to wake up early to prepare me for school, make breakfast, wash my clothes, care for me when sick, carry me about etc while I was growing up. She was a major part of my growing up years and I loved it. And she did all her wifely duties at the same time. But now, it seems the world doesn't think that's enough unless she contributes financially. Ironically, she does contribute more than enough and that makes her the super woman I don't want to be. Because all I see is her giving and giving and giving. Giving her time, her strength, her self, her money. It must get tiring at some point and I see the stress in her face. It hurts that I had to see my mum cry this year because of the stress of money which shouldn't be her burden.
Anyway, back to my question, honestly if men are not bearing the burden of finance, what else do they have to offer in a relationship/marriage? Is this new ideology of a woman must contribute financially justified or is it due to laziness and lack of responsibility of this generation of men?
The point you are driving at is far different from what the Op is saying. Firstly, he's complaining about his fiancée not being frugal but you're here talking about the struggles your mother went through( which is good by the way).
For you to ask such question (the bolded) shows that you know very little about relationship. It's no problem if you decide to be celibate huh

My people pleaseeee I need sincere advise here. Your advise will definitely guide me on the next step to take.

There is a beautiful girl I've been considering getting married to, but the way she requests money and fast food is making her look very ... lol.. "hungry" and opportunistic to me. The values she sees in a man seem to me like its basically what he will BUY for her. I confess that I made matters worse initially by "fast fooding" each time we meet... Now I think she sees me like a free lunch at crunchies. If I call her in the afternoon, she says I'm hungry.. its so irritating now.. in fact I lost a lot of regards for her..but she doesn't know yet.

Recently she asked me for some money and I refused very politely..she said she was "disappointed".

I wonder if she even loves any other thing about me asides the MONEY I WILL GIVE HER. she pays ABSOLUTELY NO attention the things I want her to see in me...like level of maturity, my leadership skills, I taught she was just being childish, but lately I discovered its just her nature. her ideology about a guy is WHAT WILL I GET FROM HIM.. I might dump her .. i wont even talk to her about it. please advise me
You've answered your question. I wanted to tell you to give him the benefit of the doubt but it looks like she will never change huh . Just move on.

The crowd of Muslims gathered in front of the palace of the Emir of Fika, Alhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammad Idriss, to celebrate the event as done before in previous years.

Soldiers from nowhere immediately stormed the venue to disperse the crowd who all took to their heels with many abandoning their footwear and other items to avoid being caught up after the pandemonium broke out.

After the company I had worked for 3 years plus announced they were leaving Nigeria due to the harsh economic situation, I was happy when I secured another job on 30th of November 2016, which was the last day of my previous job. I couldn't wait to share my testimony here, lol.

Upon resumption, I realised people worked like horses for the company(Monday to Saturday)with no overtime bonus for working till about 10, 11pm if u have to, the best u get is a hotel room for the night if you can no longer go home. I was the only one going out for break and closing by 5.I understood because I was new, they didn't want to complain and wanted me to settle down. Hmmmmm, see work Oooooo. Although I had heard of such companies It was beginning to dawn on me that I had just gotten into one.

I terminated my appointment and no amount of persuasion from the management could stop me (If the offer is so cool, they should give it else with my experience and pay the person, shikena!)Why beg me?

I know the situation in Nigeria is terrible and many people doing such jobs are holding on till they get another job, its not easy to bear, sincerely.Employers especially Lebanese are taking the advantage to enslave Nigerians. Unfortunately, our government is still asleep.

I resigned because my circumstances at the moment does not demand for me to work under such poor conditions of service. But then, not every Nigerian has same circumstances and can take such a bold step.It is really heart breaking to see people suffer like this.

Have u worked under such conditions before? please share.
My brother, sometimes quitting is the best option. If you can quit such jobs, I wonder why this government is producing graduate conductors and people are lauding them.

TravelRe: Beauty Of Nature: My Trip To Olumirin Waterfall(Pictures) by vislabraye(m): 4:05pm On Nov 30, 2016
Bbsharon:
If you are pondering on where to go this festive season or your next holiday, I would recommend you take a visit to admire the beauty of nature. This my second time of visiting this place and to my surprise I had a totally new experience of the place. The water was so white that mere looking at it for long one can assume to be blind for some seconds as it makes you dizzy as you stare at the magnificent falls. The last time I was here was during the dry season and the view was not as beautiful as during the rainy season, it was like rain falling heavily non stop with very smooth and consistent rythm.

The Olumirin waterfall is a seven step waterfall located at Oriade local government in Osun state, Nigeria which is 2km from the main town Erin Ijesha. Interestingly each step of the waterfall has a flowing fountain which to me gives it it's unique nature. Based on some myth by the people of Erin-Ijesa, they believe that there is a big pot located at the utmost top of the cliff where the waterfalls flows from.  Also the falls was said to be discovered by a powerful woman called Akinla a grand - daughter of Oduduwa who founded the Erin-Ijesha town. Legends has it that when the fall was first discovered it had the appearance of a mysterious figure and was believed to be a very tall and huge living spirit whose height reached the heavens and  has several mouths  from which the water gushed out.

The place is not so developed as the entrance looks somehow deserted and before you get to the falls is not Interesting to me at least. And I really think Osun state government is not taking the place that serious as it meant to be a very good tourist centre and source of revenue for the state. The entrance fee was 500naira for adult and 300naira for kids, and things around there are just a little bit above the normal price especially when they know you are a visitor. Ordinary 30naira shower cap those very light one is 100naira and one funny looking bottle water for 100naira too.

Another interesting part is the mountain climbing and a good exercise platform. If you are looking for a good experience of mountaineering then you should not just stop at the 2nd floor as most people that visit do but proceed further to at least the 4th floor. The first time I was here I got to the 7th floor and didn't even get much time to have fun at the falls as we were eager to get to the last floor in time. To get to the last floor takes lot of determination and strength as it's more than an hour journey and the sun on the mountain might be scorching, I remember having to massage my legs for like 3days after. So this 2nd time I just decided to  chill at the water and enjoy it to the maximum, I must say the water was very cool and refreshing and keeps one wondering about the wonders of nature.

At the 7th floor is a little settlement not even up to a village of mud houses, though they have an electric  pole and they had light when we visited. The place is called Abake and the residents referred it to " Ilu Aba-ke " in youruba which means the village on the  top ". There was a little river where the children washed and some were playing, speaking to some of them they quite understand English as they made us know they go to school down the cliff towards " Effon Alaaye " local government in Ekiti state. Sadly there is basically no infrastructure in this place not even a little clinic. They major in farming and thereafter go to nearby villages to sell their produce.

Also to spice up your fun there is an old man who plays the talking drum, I recognized him from the last time I was here about 2years ago. He plays the instrument with so much enthusiasm and at the end you will just have to tip him generously after he must have whine you to the last (lol).

Conclusively I had a great time and would visit again if I have the chance.
