s4short: Those improvements will only come when there is a complete overhaul in the way Nigerian universities are run and there is a huge limit to how well government alone can fund universities especially at a time the economy is struggling and oil price is on a downward trend. Oga, stop making excuses with economy and fall in oil prices. This FG ran this economy for close to 4 years and grounded the economy. The oil prices should not be a majot issue if the FG really diversified the economy. I thought the government is quick to flaunt agriculture as a major source of employment, income and revenue for the FG. What about the capacity of the steel and mines industry? Do you know how much of gold and other mineral resources are illegally explored in this country. Why is the proposed budget of 2019 still majorly dependent on oil revenue? Have you done a check on all the revenue generated by FIRS in recent years? What about the Abacha loot refund recently remitted to FG from Switzerland? What about the funds confisticated by EFCC in effort against corruption, especially the funds without owners? Stop giving lame excuses for the FG, the FG must show commitment to improve education significantly by fulfilling their part of the agreement. Otherwise, Nigeria will keep producing graduates like you. |

Even the repetitive strike actions by ASUU is more likely to lead to the dearth of public education than inadequate funding. The core problems affecting our universities lie with the members of ASUU, neither have they ever been in support of any move to liberate or overhaul the Nigerian educational system eg scrapping of postUME, education Bank etc, all they care about is money. Be rest assured this whole strike is all about their earned allowances (every other thing na jara) which though is their right does not in anyway warrant strike at the expense of the students. It is not gonna be sudden, it will be work-in-progress and eventually, you will see the improvement. However, I am convinced that goverment must fund education significantly and honor the agrement the FG signed. |

"Kindly provide evidence that the advocacy of ASUU, that resulted to the strike, is self-serving." I'll do just that if you provide detailed information on the agreement. But take note, I didn't say all their request. I only responded the part that says, "Thr interest of ASUU is the improved standard of education in Nigeria..." OK. Are you aware that one of the things they are fighting is for their members to retire at 70? And other requests mostly for their benefits? My guy, the "70 years retirement age" issue has been treated and done already: https://www.premiumtimesng.com/news/5099-jonathan_signs_law_raising_dons_retirement.htmlI strongly believe that the interest of ASUU is ultimately the improved standard of education in Nigeria. I honestly like the decision of a concerned person willing to try the case of fraud and false declaration by PMB in the court of law. He swore to an affidavit that his SSCE original result is with the military however, the military punctured the position and even recently debunked it again; that is tantamount to false declaration before the law and fraud. I want to have the position of the law on the matter. INEC should justify the reason they still listed PMB as a contestant despite an invalidated court affidavit. If an ordinary citizen did such, it will be taken as a criminal offence. |

olujastro: Exactly. ASUU has become a very useless body and a thorn in the flesh of Nigerians. Wasting precious time of Nigerian students.
Imagine ASUU demanding N3trillion funding in 2009 for Universities alone (excluding primary and secondary schools, polytechnics, etc.), when the federal budget for the same year was N3trillion . So govt should abandon all sectors and salaries of workers to improve universities only. They embark on long, needless strike actions and govt is coerced into making agreements just to end the strike, then they later accuse govt of not fulfilling near impossible agreements.
ASUU or whatever you call yourselves...Can Nigerian universities develop faster than the country? Should we abandon roads, rails, electricity, etc. for university funding alone so that ASUU members can die on bad roads? The issue is majorly about an agreement with ASUU signed by the FG in 2011 and revalidated in 2017. The FG is still to implement the agreement and made no provision to implement it even in the 2019 budget. I think the FG is more irresponsible than ASUU. Thr interest of ASUU is the improved standard of education in Nigeria. Yet the FG kept establishing new higher institutions without concrete plan for funding, improvement and standardization of existing ones. Tell me: who is the culprit? |

Nothing justifys a child rapist not even seeing the girl walking around in pants
please what is in a child's body that would make a man sexualize her even if she's naked in front of him
That's sick perversion
you know why?
these men will rape your daughter even if she was all covered up because they are first and foremost molesters. Even if she was wearing an hijab they will UnCloth her in their mind.
I hope you will have a daughter some day and defend the child rapist if such happens to her ( God forbid). Get this straight: no one is defending child rapists, he is only asking you to dress your kids appropriately. |

Children are never assaulted by strangers, it is the teachers, maids, church members, family and friends who do the assault. Hence, the dressing "advice" from those 2 cavemen are useless. Do you think a paedophile will grab a random kid inside ShopRite because of dressing? Nevermind, your eyes go clear in future, maybe soon. Dress your children indescently, let them run around unclad. How can you tell me that bum shorts are inappropriate for a child of 5?
What you guys should say is that the Nigeian society is no longer a safe place for a girl child (even a baby girl still breastfeeding) to expose sensitive parts of her body.
It's not the baby's clothes that's the issue. It's the mentally sick, morally depraved, conscience dead "Nigerian" man who finds a 5 year old girl in bum shorts attractive that is the problem. OK! Let me agree with your assumptions however, in the light of those assumptions, you should be guided in dressing your kids especially your female children or better still, relocate to countries or evironments where there are no perverts, maybe heaven. |

Delete the browser history and you think the person is a saint. You have no idea what people do when YOU ARE NOT THERE LOOKING AT THEM. Western countries wear bum shorts -Does not mean that it is correct. Computer viruses, Trojans, pornography, First and Second World war, abortion, all manner of legalised evil started in the Western world. We are hearing about it now because of the internet transmitting such information UNCHECKED, UNREGULATED, Direct INTO our smartphones here in Nigeria. It is thesame western world that has the highest rate of sucide, that caused the credit crunch, that 9/11 happened, that school children randomly shoot each other dead. So never idolise western world. The problem is you and the kids. You have copied western world and the kids have COPIED YOU. And will now go out to the road to tempt weak men who will comit another crime on the Kids. Evil is like coal tar (or chewing gum). You stick one finger in it and it GUMS all your other fingers. Would you blame a car owner that parked her car in public without locking it and activating the security features if the car got stolen? |

sweetrace: It certainly is NOT inappropriate. Your seeing that as inappropriate is probably a product of your upbringing and your environment. It is actually the mind of anyone who will sexualize a child that is inappropriate. I worked in an office sometime back and my colleague got angry with me in course of a general conversation on indecent dressing. She is plump, stout and chubby. When she was in primary school, she went to school dressed in body hugging, curves revealing and short skirt. The teacher disapproved and tongue lashed her and she felt dejected, traumatized and bad. She was complaining, while we were having that discussion, about her male teacher's orientation and assumed that he was sexualizing her as a kid, based on that event. The mistake I made was to boldly tell her that it was expected that every lady should mind what they wear too and that parents should endeavour to have their kids dress appropriately. She became aggressive, confrontational and almost physical but for the intervention of other colleagues. Honestly, I was shocked. Come to think of it, we live in a very perverted world today. I hear babies being raped and I can't comprehend what the adult rapist was thinking or the feeling he derived from it. But for the insanity in the society today, men are often moved by what they see. Hence, I feel ladies and men can wear whatever suits them but with caution and consideration of the influence their wears have on others. I apologize to the lady folks, especially the slay mamas and those who love to dress provocatively, but we must all realize that there are some people that can not keep their pervert demons in check out there. Their pervertions are often triggered by what they see. They are in the churches, mosques, schools, streets, environment and everywhere. Oftentimes, they look well behaved and respectable. |
