FashionRe: Why Do Women Of African Descent Relax/perm Their Beautiful Hair by WesleyanA(f): 12:49am On Apr 07, 2007
londoner:
The ladies posted seem to have soft natural hair from the looks of it, its not the same as course afro hair, Hair needs to be combed whether permed or not,try not combing it for two days and see where it gets ya, lol, definately agree that we need to know how to look after our natural hair, its not a mistake that God gave us the hair we have.
nah. they have coarse afro hair. type 4 a&b. trust me I know. my hair is ridiculously nappy if i left it uncombed/ unkept for days. but it is soft when i mosturize and take out my braids/twists.

Like they say, "nappy hair is easier to take care of if you know HOW to take care of it"
I have type 4a/4b hair and my hairdresser complain that it's too full etc and threatned to charge me more.
so before going to the hairdresser, i condition my hair, mosturize it and braid it into several places, by the time i take my braids out the next day and went to the hairdresser, she thought I had straightened it.

braid outs or twist outs and moisture make the hair softer and easier to manage (all pics are twist/ braid outs. the last one was combed out after the braid/ twists were taken out, i'll asume)

if you leave your afro out for days without twisting/ braiding or mosturizing it, it will turn really uncontrollable and impossible to comb.

there are ways you can make it manageable. you just have to KNOW HOW.

my sibling is worse. he "feels like puking" to everything. especially car freshners and some food
I thought it was symptom of being gay. j/k

there are people like that trust me. I personally don't like coffee, ridiculously oily food etc. apart from the nausea, i get stomach aches to go with it.

one question, does this happen all the time or it comes and go. it comes and go for me.
if it happens all the time, you probably want to go see a doctor

PoliticsRe: New Nigeria Police Force Uniforms by WesleyanA(f): 8:00am On Mar 31, 2007
the nigerian police definitely deserve criticism.
i read some article where a group of about 50 armed men attacked a bank, the police arrived late, and even when they arrived with all that they have, weapons and all, they stayed for like a few minutes and retreated 'cause the armed men were too strong for them undecided . they managed to shoot like 1 or 2 guys down and the police declared it a victory. because the rest 48 got away with all the money and 2 are dead. that's a police victory undecided undecided the police chief declared it too and congratulated his men.

that isn't the exact story but really close. I read it a while ago so i don't remember every detail.

shame undecided

I hope they have plans for some sort of reform though. I take the new uniforms as a sign that there's something coming ahead. i hope

Actually it isn't an understatement, poverty is easy. Poverty is the lack of money and resources. Give money and resources directly and through infrastructural developments, The poverty will be history. Humans have ruined this planet, we make things look hard when they aren't. There are more resources than their are people. what Nigeria needs to do is simply invest in the areas that really matter, develop all sectors that can be exploited, commence on surveys that can determne the amount of resources that is needed o be allocatedd. I laugh when people talk about things such as electricity, poverty etc as if they difficult problems. Nigeria's biggest problem isn't povery it is Ethinc Violence and Aids. I may be optimistic but you shouldn't be deluded into thinking that Nigeria is in such a state that it can't heal it's self. The reason why Poverty isn't decreasing as fast as it should is due to fact that a Lot of politcians are unwilling to tackle it. The money is there, bu they'd rather spend the money on cars on mansions. Like I said Poverty is not a disease. The effect that poverty has on people is more serious than poverty itself. The ways that people start to think, the things people start to say, the things they do out of desperation is more serious than Poverty itself.
Arise people, it doesn't have to be this way wink
yeah. I say we build an infrastructure (jobs, efficient transportation etc )and more importantly, lessen our dependency on the western countries.
govt should subsidize and encourage farming, local manufacture, creativity among the people rather than importing high priced finished products. and rather than exporting our raw products to the west for cheap.
I know this is hard to do but that's why we have to learn to rely on ourselves. we should strenghten OAU and ECOWAS and trade among ourselves. Rather than doing "follow follow" and always having the west as the model for all things we do (including how we build our skyline j/k). They are only looking out for their own best interests and trying to keep the status quo despite their ostensible aims to "help" poor nations.

I disagree with the part of your quote in bold though. poverty definitely triumphs those problems. if there was no poverty in the first place, HIV won't be a rampant virus. there will also be less violence.

I definitely agree with the infrastructure part
The money is there, bu they'd rather spend the money on cars on mansions.
no. the money always end up back in foreign accounts,
there will be millions of vacant cars and mansions in Nigeria if what is quoted were true.

TravelRe: Pictures of Lagos Skyline (City-Scape) by WesleyanA(f): 1:32am On Mar 31, 2007
Poverty is not a disease nor is it a part of Nigeria. Poverty is just something that is around and in time it can be removed.
this statement of yours is an extreme UNDERSTATEMENT. making poverty sound petty, sign of too much optimism.

I personally think this thread is done. Post more pics after new buildings are completed. Tired of seeing the same pics over and over again *from different angles* lol

or you can post pics of other stuff, like the last one with the guy and crafts. that's a cool pic.

You know, we really don't need some weblink for "proof" of the medicinal value of weed - especially of the green, raw and wet ones!

There are lots of people who roam our streets (from 42nd Street, Manhattan, NY to Idumota, Lagos) who are living "proof" of this medicinal value - they have been cured of their sanity! And society has no problem with that!!

Infact, here's a recommendation: smoke the wet weed - there's "speed" in that brand; and the next we know is that another Reverend King will be on the loose!!

FashionRe: Why Do Women Of African Descent Relax/perm Their Beautiful Hair by WesleyanA(f): 12:09am On Mar 27, 2007
passing a comb through it would be hell, natural hair is good if u can handle it
if not u'll end up looking like u come from d bush
because it hurts when u comb it. when u don't comb it it makes
u look like someone from a mental hospital.
read:
http://www.motowngirl.com/myths.php

"natural hair is not meant to be combed and styled as straight hair"
"some people fight with their natural hair instead of just living with the natural texture of it and work with it"

point is: same thing you do with relaxed hair (combing 24/7, running away from water, saloon every two weeks, retouching etc) isn't what you will be doing with natural hair.
