Makanakico: Nairaland is becoming an engine of promoting hatred, bigotry, social unrest and it is becoming a threat to the national security, moderators are always looking for flaming concocted stories to push to front page in order to push their wretched agenda of dividing the country.
How can you say people are leaving Kano in droves when we are in the city and people are all going on with their affairs especially today when there is an ease of the lockdown, this is misinformation and a wicked attack to the image of Kano and Kano people.
Seun please do something as soon as possible before the situation goes out of hand. These days I am always promising myself not come back to Nairaland due to high amount of insults and hate speech direct towrds the North, Huasa people and Muslims, but I always end up coming back because of the familiarity with the platform. It becomes a "concocted story" when it reports something that is unpleasant to you. That report was from a national daily. Check the source again. Meanwhile, trailer loads of people escaping from Kano have been intercepted in the SW and SE since the past two days. Check the stories on the front page, they are there as well, just as reported by some national dailies. Seem like the people trying to leave Kano are supposed to inform you first, which is how you got the info of the amount of people leaving Kano, right? |

Ebonyi typifies how rapid Biafra is gonna develop You forget that we have people like Okezie Ikpeazụ, Abia State governor? It won't be all rosy. Would have to transfer the small change I have there before stories that touches happen As a customer of the defunct Diamond bank, I can see that most banks on that list to be shut down are former diamond Bank branches. I quickly skimmed through the list in search of a branch located in my village, and I found it. Sad. I have fond memories of that particular branch. I hope the original branches of Access bank are well distributed to cover up for this. |

Politics › Re: President Buhari Didn't Wear Face-Mask. EU Delegates Wore FaceMasks As They Meet by whirlwind7(m): 9:48am On Apr 15, 2020 |
Wilstino: Before you speculate, Experts says wearing nose mask, only helps prevent an infected person from passing the virus, it does not prevent an uninfected person from contracting it. Hence social distancing and good hygiene is being advocated. This is also the reason people are now advised to wear nose mask.
Hence, you may also look at it from the angle that Mr President is clean and doesn't want anyone meeting with him, to infect him with the virus. Not entirely true. New data gets churned out everyday from researches over this virus. Nose masks also prevents infection when used properly. The virus floats in air for some minutes (at least) after discharge from an infected person. The virus also stays active on surfaces for several hours or days. Now, anyone could touch those dirty surfaces and within the next moment of distraction, transfer his hands to his nose or lips. This is where the mask serves as a barrier. New things are discovered about this virus everyday. With the Chinese government who has made it a punishable offence for anyone, infected or not, to appear in public without a mask, you should realize that there's some merit to it. After all, they created it. And they have absolutely refused for other countries to research into the origin of the virus. |
Politics › Re: Legal Cannabis In Nigeria Will Create Many Overnight Millionaires by whirlwind7(m): 7:33am On Apr 14, 2020 |
Jakumo: His Excellency President Buhari will already be aware of the enormous economic benefits that Nigeria can reap from legalizing cannabis production and commercial exploitation, therefore it is too early to presume that he is likely to oppose such an initiative that offers such a strong promise of triggering an economic boom in Nigeria, similar to the one under way in several other African countries that have legalized this highly effective medical plant.
Many would be surprised if it were ever disclosed how many lawyers, medical doctors, police officers, military top brass, university lecturers, and other highly regarded members of society in ALL nations, enjoy relaxing at home by smoking, vaporizing or eating some high grade cannabis, in EXACTLY the same way as glasses of fine wine are imbibed after a long day's work at the office.
I strongly believe that it is President Buhari that will legalize marijuana in Nigeria and thereby transform the economy of the nation for the better, literally overnight. Nigeria is blessed with highly fertile agricultural soil, ideal tropical weather, and consistent daylight hours, year round, all of which combine to make Nigeria a cannabis growing PARADISE, just waiting to be so recognized by the laws of the land.
President Buhari sir, we await your timely action on this matter. Help Nigeria emerge strong, from the Corona virus pandemic, by taking its place at the table where multi-billion dollar medical cannabis profits are being divided up among the worlds mot insightful and innovative nations. See that quote of yours in bold? I'm ready to place a bet on that, sir. GMB is too dumb and too religious to see anything good in marijuana. |

At what time has your president ever been bold to face the media and address the nation? After he was sworn into office in 2015, he didn't bother to reveal his economic plan, foreign policy, budget implementation or appoint ministers....nothing. Because he has no plan. Of course you have forgotten that everyone at the presidency started talking about his "body language" because buhari has nothing to say. Lots of things will happen by the time this epidemic is over. There's bound to be more babies in 9 to 10 months from now. There's gonna be a lot more divorces (as witnessed in China, where the courts had to rule that they will only entertain 20 divorce cases per day, after such cases hit record highs) On the flip side, some families will get closer as they spend more time together. The economic impact on businesses and those who depend on daily earnings to survive will be horrible |

Much as I don't have any love for this government and Naija politicians in general, I must admit there is some level of credibility to this claim. In UAE, one had to pay AED375 for the test (this is about USD101.68 Though the test is made free for pregnant women and those above age 65.
Also, you may Google to see how much the test costs in certain cities in USA. Health insurance may cover part of the cost in some places. There are different billing modalities involved in different countries and locations. |

UMUAHIA1stson: We can't do it alone. We need igbos to help us liberate Abia state This comment makes me think: For someone like Nnamdi Kanu who wields a lot of influence among the populace through IPOB, what is his position on the situation of things in Abịa? I know he has not been in good terms with governors from the SE, and Abịa State governor in particular. So, why hasn't he called on Abians to observe days of civil disobedience, to make their displeasure known to their governor? IPOB could declare a sit at home, or non violent protests. Things like that. Charity should begin at home, right? There is a disconnect somewhere. The trio of Orji Kalu, Theodore Orji and now Ikpeazụ has made a huge mess of that state, and the people only seem to murmur about it, and nothing gets done. Few days ago, a document purporting to be an oath sworn by Ikpeazụ to give full access of Abia State finances to T.A. Orji emerged. Don't know how authentic that document is. Abagworo: Sometimes people write out of ignorance. Okorocha as a Governor spread development as evenly as possible but you can't take away the importance of Owerri as the only major city in Imo State. Some States like Abia, Delta and Anambra happen to have 2 major cities and it wasn't any Governor's creation. Orlu developed tremendously under Okorocha with the face of the city changing drastically from a rustic roadside town to a city with chain of dual carriageways, streetlights, children's park, organized markets and we also saw several business establishments spring up. He is actually the 2nd Governor to do that. Achike Udenwa built the Orlu international market and Okporo housing estate as well as the teaching hospital in Orlu. To me those are development while Okorocha built the Eastern Palm University probably the best in Eastern Nigeria, New Stadium, New electronics market, building materials market, several new markets in respective towns, several dual carriageways, new zonal Mopol barracks for improved security. Those are just within the metropolis but other towns outside the metropolis also got their fair share just like Okigwe. In all both Okorocha and Udenwa did well in Orlu but Okorocha did more in Okigwe than all those before him. Right now Uzodimma is poised to deliver good governance unlike Ihedioha that dwealt on vendetta and vengeance on behalf of the elites whom Okorocha took power from and gave to the masses.
