To mourn as presented by Webster.com

Main Entry: mourn
Pronunciation: \ˈmȯrn\
Function: verb
Etymology: Middle English, from Old English murnan; akin to Old High German mornēn to mourn, Greek mermēra care — more at memory
Date: before 12th century
intransitive verb
1: to feel or express grief or sorrow
2: to show the customary signs of grief for a death ; especially : to wear mourning
3: to murmur mournfully —used especially of doves
transitive verb
1: to feel or express grief or sorrow for
2: to utter mournfully
— mourn·er noun
— mourn·ing·ly \ˈmȯr-niŋ-lē\ adverb

again mourning and grieving are both approaite when you deeply love a person and still love them when the r/s ends.
I dont mourn or grieve for every ex only happend once.
Yet again, i implore u, stop showing off your low level of reasoning here. Websters and oxford and all the dictionaries u quote will define the word "Grieve" in different contexts but absolutely none of these contexts suits what you're trying to use the word to represent. I have no problem with the definition, i however do have a problem with the context u have used these words in.

Allow me school u:

All the examples above go in line with what i've been saying to u, how can u express grief or sorrow when heartbroken? u express those when someone dies, but u r upset or hurt when heartbroken - irrespective of how deeply or emotional. Is it clearer now?

here is what Webster says:

Main Entry: grieve
Pronunciation: \ˈgrēv\
Function: verb
Inflected Form(s): grieved; griev·ing
Etymology: Middle English greven, from Anglo-French grever, from Latin gravare to burden, from gravis heavy, grave; akin to Greek barys heavy, Sanskrit guru
Date: 13th century
transitive verb
1 : to cause to suffer : distress <it grieves me to see him this way>
2 : to feel or show grief over <grieving the death of her son>
3 : to submit a formal grievance concerning <grieve a dismissal>
intransitive verb
: to feel grief : sorrow
— griev·er noun

I believe I used the right word.

Just because you move heartlessly in and out of r/s does not mean that we all do.
Wrong, i dont move heartlessly in and out of relationships, i move on and try not to grieve or mourn like u do. . .  Surely u wont discriminate against that now, would u?

Just because u had to mourn the guys u dated does not mean we must all be that heartless!

And i still think u r wrong with the grammar, u dont mourn someone when they're still alive - except [like no.1 states] they're better off dead than in the state u find them. There is a difference between mourning and hurting or being upset, grieving or mourning are too powerful to be used in the context of a mere relationship gone sour. . .  Pls!

i thinki agree with @sistawoman - you mourn the person they presented themselves to be - not the real them you later discovered

and in my case sometimes what annoys me is how long i deceived myself and kept living that lie
Now I wonder if my exes mourn me too undecided, frankly i hope they're celebrating me instead grin grin grin

@Sistawoman:

Point made.

You are upset when a relationship breaks down.

You grieve when someone dies.

There is absolutely no inter-relation between those 2 words. . . . Simples!

have you properly greaved or did you just give yourself the "I am too big to cry over him" speach.

If you have not properly greaved then now is not too late.
You know, i always thought u were over-emotional with your posts - whats with the grieving over someone who's not dead. . .  or do u wish him dead? Damn, thats malicious pls!

RomanceRe: What'd You Do? Walk Away Or Stay? Men, Air Your Opinions! by whitelexi(m): 1:05pm On Jun 24, 2009
Even if there was no infections or permanent dysfunction of any sort. . .  It would be a reference point. A point of malicious attacks when there's a disagreement or quarel as there will always be in a relationship. Imagine u as the guy in question, having to react when she says something like "It seems that gay session u had yrs ago has made u incapable of seeing reason". I still think, even if the woman stays, it will affect the relationship and eventually cause it to crash. Because most women as we know them, speak first then reason later.

Let's twist the question a bit. . . So this dude is really nice and seems to be the perfect one for u when suddenly, just before your marriage, some homosexual armed robbers broke in and gave it to him real rough from his behind - leaving him with a possible terminal infection and a permanent anal dysfunction which meant that he could no longer control how or when he made doodoo.
Would u, as a loving prospective wife, still go ahead with the marriage, or will u thank God the marriage has not yet happened?

Seeing as it happened just before marriage, i reiterate: I no marry abeg!
That has absolutely nothing to do with her virginity, or the fact that she got raped. People get raped everyday - its no biggie. Some dont even remember they were raped when they wake up the next day after a drunken night - There was actually a court case in those lines recently.

Nobody is saying rape is a good thing, but personally, i dont see any big deal in it - some women actually like it rough.

What's the best course of action when a girl tells you she only likes you as a friend, yet she keeps calling to say hi.

How should you start acting towards a girl that wants to be "Just Friends"?
This morning, i officially ended a very similar circumstance. There are people u just cannot be "just friends" with, she was one of them. Our communication henceforth shall strictly be on the basis of extremely important texts. She doesn't know it yet, but i will not be taking any calls from her anymore, but i shall respond to her texts if i deem them important.

Dont let anyone play silly games with u, it aint worth it. I should really be adding that to my book of principles.

I'm still trying to recover from the shock of your OP, u say and i quote:

She is begging for forgiveness. am just confused because i have deep feelings for her and i've always known her to be a good girl.
Forgive her but move on, all u will succeed in doing by dating her again is to bring shame and laughter to yourself, she should've known better!

It is natural for the female posters to ask u to forgive her, with words like, "to err is human and to forgive is divine". But the truth has to be said, if the tables were turned around right now, all u will hear from the same posters will be "Dump him like its hot". grin

A girl did your superior in the office and u want to continue with her? Are u ok at all. . .  Na wah oh, is she the only chic available for u? Things happen for a reason, or maybe God just wants to show u the way. . . Bros, no even think twice, vamoose now.

There's a girl i dated yrs ago in the knowledge that she was a virgin, but now, yrs after we broke up, i realise it was all one huge puff of lies. I met this dude and it turns out he is a very close family friend of hers and knows her very well, and we've become really close as we work in very similar fields here. Everyday i'm learning new stuff about her and her lies and i wonder whether i was silly or plain dumb to have believed all that crap i was getting.

I am tightening my screws further on naija girls, every word will now be taken with some salt!

RomanceRe: Is It Possible To Be In Love Without Money? by whitelexi(m): 9:39am On Jun 23, 2009
For a naija guy, i think its possible, however there are very few naija women who wont insult u, especially when they see your friends doing well. The possibility of having your respect and dignity intact as a man with nothing in naija is very low. . . I remember the joke about the widows in church who were asked to come out to the pulpit, a woman whose husband was seated right beside her tried to follow suit, and when questioned by her husband, she said whe was worse than a widow - she questioned his validity as a man and insulted his person.

Whatever happened to "for richer for poorer"?
