SavvyLanre:Oh no, nothing linked to the NSE. I was just terribly impressed that's all goes to show how good 'ol research can pay off (as opposed to going with the herd . . .) |
easimoni:Yes! GO PATRIOTS!!! but wait oh, i thought you were a colts hommie? ![]() Look at the A-section of the WSJ, front page -- nothing to do with naija stockmarket though . . . |
pumping777:True, true, true!! But what do you care? Just take advantage of the madness and ride the bull IEI in the last quarter of 2007 was such a money spinner with terrible fundamentals, same as companies like first aluminium and livesstock feeds. It's a crazy market innit? ![]() |
Rob-roy:Dun know nothing about Skye Shelter Fund. As per Union Diagnostics, spoke with someone who informed me that they've submitted all their papers to the SEC (or is it NSE) and fulfilled all of the requirements for listing. Said that the reason it's been this long is that they (SEC or NSE) kept asking for more papers back and forth. All things being equal, they should be listing March/April at between N3 to N3.25. The PP was oversubscribed as you already know, and they're absorbing everything. I was like |
By the way, did anyone see the John Paulson story in today's Wall Street Journal? |
**catchin' up, catchin' up, catchin' up. Will start posting in a while** |
FatherOF2:Ok o, no problem. Greet the pickins and dem mom. I'm off. |
FatherOF2:Thank you! And you sef be POLITICIAN See as you take style avoid providing the name of the conglomerate in question. Abeg make you say the name of the conglomerate na. Abi you think say na for free I take answer all those tough questions ![]() |
grabdaloot:Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you! I'll be waiting eargerly and did I remember to say "thank you" again ![]() |
FatherOF2:Hmmm, UACN is cheap no doubt, what with a forward PE of <18. But at the current price, I don't see too much upside for the stock (i.e. if one wants to trade oh). Also, they've done an interim dividend of 50k so the final payout may not be too enticing to lift the share price that much. Besides, results won't be out until late April at the earliest, So Unilever will most likely rally before this one. For Unilever, the coy has been in the doldrums and with the turnaround this year, they're definitely going to do something relatively good for the shareholders. So that anticipation will give a better upside than UACN. That's my take though, and it may be completely wrong but then again, it may be absolutely right ![]() |
FatherOF2:Na unilever jo! But that your question hard small. The company has turned around but is still quite expensive. Me ordered in December at 19.5 and will be looking to sell at 26 or thereabout, which is where I think it might peak out. But the stock seems to still be taking a beating, so whether or not time don reach will depend on the returns you're looking to make. If you're happy with 10 or 15% return, then I'ld say maybe next week would be a good time to enter when it bottoms out from the current downward trend. Results will be out in March, so rally might start toward Feb. ending. Over to you! |
FatherOF2:It's UNILEVER. No secret there ![]() |
@grabdaloot: did you reconfirm the story on Eterna Oil? |
wanaj0:No point. Money has gone out the door already! wanaj0:Actually I think they do. My source in UBA GM said that the issuing houses each have their allocations and will be meeting every week to guage how far things are going. Their objective is to avoid oversubscription and having to return monies. So once each exhausts his allocation, collection should stop. Now having said that, I won't be too surprised if one or more of the issuing houses doesn't abide by that. Afterall it's free money walking in the door, why turn it back when you can use it to trade? I hope they would be scrupulous enough to not do that! But somehow I'm trusting that UBA GM won't do that. |
Na wa oh! This thread is something else. Less than 24hrs wen I log on and more than 7 more pages! Oga Wanaj0, which analysis you dey wait? No be you talk say "no analysis paralysis"? Me don commot for that side long time ago. It's a good offer, and yes I've turned in my application. Those UBA guys try for me well well. They were even willing to wait beyond the Monday deadline they gave me, and agreed to accept my application online while awaiting the cheque from my broker. Anyway, that one's done. As per AG leventis, I'ld say "yes" it's good at the current price. I tried re-entry today after selling a few days back but no show. Thought twas going to fall another 5% today. Na wa for Transcorp oh! I remember when they were doing their PO sometime ago and I told some folks who were planning to invest to beware. One guy nearly bit my head off, even calling me unpatriotic, bla bla bla. Sentimental investing can be terrible! Well after a while I just had to shut up, abi na my money? wetin come concern fish with raincoat na? Someone told me recently that he's still averaging down @all: can anyone with the MTN prospectus post it? Can't seem to find it anywhere online. Thanks. Good weekend everyone! |
hispy99:kai, una no go kill me with laughter for this place! Me think say prof. peller don retire long time ago. So na business im come set up? ![]() |
Oga Pumping you sef see am? They're going to grow EPS from 2kobo to 27kobo within 12months, yet the length of their shortest project to which they would apply the PP funds is 12months? That one na abracadabra or business Abeg make we move on to other things jare! I wish them plenti plenti success.Enjoy! |
Greetings, greetings, greetings Ladies and gents of the forum! My schedule is twice as busy in the first 6mths of the year as it is in the second, so keeping up with the forum is quite a challenge. However I'll try to post as much as I can. Just looked through the Acorn Oil PP prospectus, and I have just two words for anyone considering putting their cash in: DON'T BOTHER! I was however impressed that they included a projected CF statement and balance sheet -- this is something I ordinarily have to do myself in analyzing other PPs I've looked at. But from my perspective, the company's future isn't looking exciting at all, and the projections are too too too unrealistic. With Chams for instance, I also thought the projections were not 100% realistic but even after discounting them by more than 50%, I was still getting interesting valuations. With Acorn however, just reading through the prospectus and crunching the numbers made me yawnnnnnnn continually i'm even still yawning as i'm typing The pitch is not just compelling enough. This is coupled with the fact that their margins are too slim and growth appears limited, especially with all the other muscles in the sector. No show jare.Hot-off-the-grill news: Emerging Capital Partners has invested about $35m in Ocean and Oil, the company that holds 32% of Oando. Yet another sign of goodies to come for the NSE, which incidentally is beginning to feel more and more like an ATM and windywendy is seriously liking it . . . ![]() Laters! |
esco399:Thank you jare! Easimoni, see I don get representation already. Bet your colt supporters have deflected to the Man-uu camp somewhere in boring ol britain Pumping777, watch out! |
@invisible: I doubt the current bear run will last, as more companies will be releasing results soon. Insurance coys will be releasing results around april/may (going by the timeframe within which 9mths results were released) and the sector will most likely rally in anticipation of that. Be patient. @Pumping777, you wan patent "No Shivering"? that phrase has been around from time time before before na Any attempt to patent that which has already been patented constitutes treachery of the highest degree and will be met with the most severe and hitherto unprecendented consequence ever known to or imagined by the human race remember philly is not too far from anywhere ![]() |
pumping777:Chei!! You no go kill me with laughter o! Warfare?? Ah! Colts na cartoon?? Kai, you don finish dem patapata! Which sports channel carries man-uu? Must be one of those boring british ones abi ![]() |
easimoni:Colts Ko, Colts ni Just because we (the PATS) let you beat us in the last superbowl doesn't mean it'll happen again. We were just being magnanimous back then . This year, NO SHOW!! |
bigjay01:Hehehehe, funny, funny funny! I guess your "james bond" performance has paid off big time! watch out for interswitch, might be another juicy one ![]() |
easimoni:Oh No! Can't believe you missed this one |
@invisible: Nice to see you posting after that my post to you from before before . When I didn't see you posting for a while after the post, I been don dey worry say I don offend a dear brother. Anyway, no shaking sorry no_shaking, no intention to use your screen name |
@loma, your friend's post on the PP for Chams would make a lot of sense if the company's past is going to be the same as its future. Read the prospectus very well. The main catalyst for growth is the CAS terminals to facilitate online banking and bill pay. Not too sure if the online banking will be a huge lift as most banks already have ATMs, but the bill pay will be the hit. Are there risks? YES, YES, a thousand times YES! But that company's future is going to be RADICALLY different from the past. Watch out for the cash flow statements in future. I don't even have the time to go into the potentials that will open up once they're able to interface their CAS terminals with Visa and Mastercard, which are already being rolled out! That's the "meat" of this offer. All the other stuff like the huge government contracts, etc are just what I'll call "extras". Plus the fact that they'll be listing shortly after the PP closes, creates an opportunity to exit if you're not happy with the company's performance in the future. And if I might add, you'll be able to do this with a handsome return. That just moves this PP from Juiccccyyy to yum, yum yummmmyyy .@all: Yes, its possible that the PP is closed. I got my invitation to participate yesterday, and even as I was on the phone speaking with the guy, he said the response rate has been CRAZY! I've been given one week to pay up or lose it . UBA Global Markets are the folks you should be speaking to. They're trying to avoid over-subscription. But there's a waiting list though, so perhaps you can get yourself on it. Alternatively, you can call the other issuing houses and see if they've not exhausted their allocation.@AKtopgun and Pumping777: was just reading your posts on Man-U, Arsenal and Co. Funny! Forget Man-U, Forget Arsenal, forget European football!!! American Football ROCKS! and New England PATRIOTS RULE!!! man-u bow, bow, bow! |
Chams! Well what can I say? With the way I was talkin’ talkin’ talkin’ this weekend while jumping up and down in my seat and doing all the hand gestures, my hubby just had to conclude that any deal that gets his wifey this excited has gat ta be made in heaven! Amazing, amazing amazing! There is one BIG risk though, pay attention to page 45. oh oh, my boss just came in gotta run, Will give my analysis on this one later today. Bye guys!@ Easimoni, forget orient, this one's better. |
Octupus:Not good enough ke? By whose score card na? I DON'T make recommendations based on hunches, so you can safely forget about that ever happening.@All, just thought to upload the Chams PP memo before going to bed. Def something to chow on this weekend. Already 100% underwritten . . . Amazing who no like beta thing?!. See link attached: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=OJRTQYTY |
@easimoni, pls hold off on the Orient PP. Doesn't look realistic. I'll take a better look this weekend and let you know my thoughts further. Also, the chams pp is out! JUIICCCYYY infact just reading the prospectus is almost making me dance in my seat right now . Ends second week in Feb. Will share further next week.Wonderful weekend everyone. Don't forget to spend quality time with your families! |
pumping777:Pumping777, thanks for taking the time to answer all my questions. Don't worry about opportunities. If what happened today is anything to go by, I'll say some opportunities just opened up and will be available next week. |
invisible!:You this man, make you take time oh! Apart from bigboylarry, no one has a crystal ball to tell exactly how a stock will perform. At best, predictions can be made based on fundamentals and maybe some technical analysis. Eventhough I'm not one of those who responded to your inquiry, my guess is that at the time there was nothing exciting about the stock then. The peeps who give recommendations here can only do so based on whatever analysis is available, and if I might add, that takes a lot of work and a generous heart. Sometimes they'll be right, sometimes they'll be wrong. But it's all done in good faith. So make you no lash out at any so-called "guru" for doing their best to provide answers to your inquiries. Abi you dey pay them salary? Oya apologize na na! smiling, but angry ![]() |
bigjay01:Ah not so o! You know how things turned around ever since the (referring to the silent millionaires and billionaires that quickly gooble up any stock mentioned on this thread . . .)Anyway, seriously, this was a hunch. There had been a rumor last year that the bank would be doing a PO and just while browsing the NSE earlier this week I had an inkling something could be up with these guys. Checked up and found that the rumor might indeed be true. I would have shared anyway but you know I can't come here and be recommending stocks based on hunches or inklings na ![]() |
