BiafraBushBoy:If Wike can revoke the c of o of the properties of his enemies or opponents and get cheered by biafrans, I hope they would not cry blue murder if Nigeria revoke all biafran's c of o after they secede. |
nabiz:Why are you guys fixated on Lagos? Is Lagos the capital? Is the national assembly in Lagos? I will know you guys are serious or brave if you take your rally or protest to Kaduna, Kano or even Abuja. |
I dont see a case here. Where is the rape? Or has the legal definition of rape changed. The girl willingly followed the guy (angel), to his house. The girl willingly open her legs for "heavenly blessings" (she probably had heavenly feelings), then on her way home at that unheavenly time of the night she was arrested. It was then she remembered that she was raped. How can people say she was raped by an angel of God when people who submit tithes, offerings, first fruits, seeds, etc to men of God is not said to scam them. |
gberra:Please educate me. |
Viergeachar:The NASS is not a branch of the current presidency because their funding does not depend on the presidency, they are on first line charge. They receive their funds directly from the federation account. The NASS can and do disagree with the president on numerous issues. The second a State Assembly disagrees with a Governor, the speaker and other principal officers will be impeached the very next day. Another point is that the presidents party does not have absolute control of the NASS, which is not the case in the State Assemblies. In the state assemblies, the governor is god. |
clarocuzioo:I Agree with you. Ordinarily devolution of powers would have been an ideal way to ensure developments and efficiency of government, but given our present crop of politicians, devolution will be a disaster and might lead to unimaginable crisis. Ordinary devolving electoral powers to the states in terms of Local Government Elections, and the governors and godfathers turn the state electoral body to its electoral selection organ. So much so that the ruling party always clean sweep the elections. The last Lagos State Local Government elections was a sham of an election, most of electorate had no idea of the candidates in the election, in some centres no election took place, but result were declared. Now, imagine if the governors control the state police, the governors would terrorize all opponents. Already the State Assemblies and State Judiciary is already a branch of the governor's office. |
9jakohai:This is half truth. Even though our generation capacity (grid) is about 8,000 MW, our transmission and distribution capacity is just above 5,000MW. Meanwhile, we total generation capacity (grid + private) is above 50,000MW. Most industrial companies generate their own power. I know many companies with over 1MW generating plants. Most homes and offices run on private power. Dogara: Nigerians spend $5 billion on generators annually |
Ijaya123:First the order does not affect residential, commercial of most industrial users, as i found out from Eko Disco office. It only affect a class of industrial users (M1 i guess). It applies to those that feed directly from 415v feeder line. Secondly, what do you do when NEPA (DISCO) officials stand a ladder on your pole, asking you to show your bill or they bring down your wire? There seems to be no law that applies to DISCOS, they are law unto themselves. |
9jakohai:No one is quarreling with increasing the rates, if they like they can increase the rate to N100/kwh, what people are complaining about is estimate billing and hence estimated increases in bills. You are mandated to pay whether you use their services or not. How can you legally justify billing someone for services not rendered. |
Nackzy:It annoys when you people reduce it to APC affair. The power situation in Nigeria had been comatose before the birth of APC. PDP in its 16 years of Power did not do anything in the power sector. The military did not do anything in power. APC is also failing like all others before it. |
it is very annoying NEPA or Discos are always talking about increases in electricity tarrif without talking about providing meters. I feel really annoyed that Fashola and the Government is allowing these Discos scam Nigerians. I have been having a running battle with Eko Distibution Company for over two years regarding one of my shop. They bring overestimated bill of 10,000 to 15,000 naira monthly despite my spending over 10,000 every week on petrol, because there is hardly any light. They told me i will be metered soon, two years ago. Up till now the meter is not in sight. I am so frustrated that i am thinking of going solar, the only problem is i do not have the money right now. Solar has become cheaper than NEPA + Generator over a 0ne and a half year period. A N1,000,000 system (Solar, Inverter, battery) providing an average of 10kwh per day is enough to run most offices. Nigerians shout start calling NEPA's bluff and go solar. Imagine what will happen if government removes import tariff on Solar and alternative energy equipments, DIscos, Fuel sellers and Generator sellers would go out of business. |
Newmanluckyman:If Buhari is a great failure and an incompetent leader, what will you call Jonathan Goodluck? "Over 20billion dollars unremitted to the Federation account, Nigeria's economy will crumble if nothing is done..." |
NwaAmaikpe:And how is that your concern? Are you the one going to face God's wrath on their behalf. Learn to face your front. |
Jolar101:I forwarded the story to http://www.naptip.gov.ng/index.php/aboutus/our-law-and-our-mandate maybe they can investigate and bring the perpetrator(s) to book. They need to investigate how and why a small boy who should be in school is doing houseboy for the callous man. Any other person that knows other organizations that can handle this case should forward this link to them. |
maklelemakukula:The nonsense you spewed above is sickening, are you sure you are psychologically ok? you sound like a sadist. All children are stubborn. That is the nature of children. If you have children you will know that. We parents know what we face daily at the hands of our children. My second son smashed my 28 inch TV two weeks ago, do i chain him with dogs as punishment? Can the man that chained this poor boy with goats do same with his own children? I suspect that was how you were treated as a child, maybe that is why you are supporting this savage act. |
Three pages, over 50 comments and over 15,000 views, yet no one has said or done anything to help the poor boy. This signifies the typical attitude of the average Nigerian, some huff and puff, others take the moral high road and condemn and insult, but no one is ready to take any action. This is the story of our lives. Does anyone know the relevant authorities to send the pictures and story? Police, or other human rights organizations? At least we have the address. |
midfinger:Why not educate us who stated the hate speeches here, was the "gworo chewing Fulani cows" or the "amala and ewedu eating cowardly, betraying yoloba bastards"? Luciky Nairaland posts has history. |
iamexcelblog:Every tribe in Nigeria are being marginalized. My tribe (Itsekiri) is far more marginalized by the Nigerian state. The Idomas are Marginalized. The Calabaris are marginalized. The Gbagyis (original inhabitants of Abuja) apart from being marginalized were driven from their ancestral lands to pave way for FCT. The least marginalized tribes in Nigeria are The Hausa/Fulanis, The Yorubas and the Igbos. The worst form of marginalization is not even tribal, it is class. Class marginalization is far worse than Tribal marginalization. The upper class are seriously marginalizing the lower class and poor, so much so that over 90% of our revenue is expended on the top 10% upper class of the population irrespective of tribe. Even Boko Haram and IPOB seems to be a sort of revolution by the poor class against the rich upper class. Again it was my view that Politicians from Igboland are being shielded by the Nigerian state. The Nigerian state protects the upper class (whether politicians, Businessmen, civil servants, etc) and exploits and oppress the lower class. It does not depend on tribe. It is only those that fall out of favour among the upper class that lose that protection. But after calculating events and seeing the way things are moving, I have actually come to discover that 80% of our problems is from us. To be candid with you, a lot of Nigerian tribes are really tolerating us. I have gone round almost the whole Nigeria and seen the nuisance most of my brethren constitute there. Am not joking. Nobody paid me to malign anybody.Everybody has their positive and negative sides. The Igbos are brash, proud, boastful and has a "make money or die trying attitude", but at the same time they are independent, hardworking and innovative. We really need to go back to the drawing board and fix a whole lot of things.Agreed 100% Frankly speaking, I am now going to abide by the laws of the Anambra state government on this issue and also listen to the leadership of the current Ohanaeze Ndigbo. This is the only way to succeed. Elect people that can change the status quo. or better still organize yourselves into a pressure group to advance developmental causes. You do not need government money or influence to promote developmental agenda. Most of the innovators of igboland did it without government intervention or by shouting marginalization. |
OP, i am glad there are still some young Igbo youth who are not carried away by emotional social media rants of Kanu and his IPOB gang. The Igbos are far more intelligent than IPOB is presenting. You cannot base secession on hatred of Hausas and Yorubas. You cannot threaten or bully every one that does not agree with your opinions. Afterall if you secede, you will not be in a perpetual state of war with Nigeria or the Hausas and Yorubas. IPOB needs to present intellectual reasons for secession and not emotional ones. IPOB should be ready to engage those of opposing views in intellectual debates not threats. Even if a referendum is called, a vibrant debate must ensue between proponents and opponents in a peaceful atmosphere. |
Abagworo:Some people's brains is frozen in the middle ages and refuses to evolve into the 21st century. So you are saying a widowed woman or lady should never have sex again until she dies, or she should abandon her bedroom or house because she is widowed. The Irony of all these is that the man does not have to wait for the wife to die before bringing another woman into their matrimonial bed. We now see why Africa is underdeveloped, it is due to the underdeveloped brains of the people. |
Which God exactly are you referring to? Throughout recorded history, we can count anywhere from 8,000–12,000 gods who have been worshiped. But we can only count around 9 different types of gods (based on theological characteristics) that have been worshiped. Every modern god also fits into one of these types, and 5 of them are Hindu types. |
KINGOFTHEEAST:Igbos are also not known for political suaveness unlike the Hausas and Yorubas. Maybe Ekweremadu has realized that the only way to defeat northern domination is by working together with the Yorubas instead of working at cross purposes. |
Thewrath:No way the whole of delta state will go with Igbos to Biafra. The anomality of putting Igbos with Delta state with other tribes does not mean they must be forced to pursue Igbo interests. |
Nnaabros:Fear of what? It is very annoying for Igbo people to be roping this their Biafra on the throats of other tribes. It is an insult for Igbos to be the ones fighting for the freedom of others - unsolicited. Even those that were sympathetic to the Biafran struggle had since hardened their position because of the way IPOB (representing Igbos) are forming "VOLTRON" defender of the universe for all tribes of the Nigerdelta. Igbos have the right to fight for their interests, but why pull others along with you? |
I also had my doubt about the guys being badoo members, but after questioning many people present at the scene including that saw the guys before they were lynched, my doubts have been eroded. This are the some of the details that eroded my doubts as narrated from a friend who live very close to the scene of the incidence; 1. The Car was parked on a particular spot earlier in the night and the guys were still in the car by 2:am in the morning. 2. After the guys were accosted by the first set of vigilante boys, they could not explain what they were doing there at that time of the night. 3. More vigilante guys were called in as reinforcement that late in the night, still the guys could not state their mission at that time of the night. 4. At this junction it was further decided that the guys be taken to the Baale's place for further interrogation. 5. The boys were put into the jeep and the jeep was driven to the baale's place. By the time there were being interrogated at the Baale's place a huge crowd had gathered at the from of the Baale's place, waiting for the outcome of the interrogation. 6. During interrogation, it was said that the boys confessed that they were actually sent on Badoo mission and that they dropped others at various points around the area on similar mission. Meanwhile, those inside informed the huge crowd outside that the guys had confessed, so the crowd was becoming restive. A decision was taken to search the jeep. On searching the jeep, it was said that badoo's tools of trade was discovered in the car. All hell became lose and people started attacking the jeep with cutlasses, stones, etc. The jeep was overturned and subsequently set on fire. At the same time the mob demanded for the head of the guys. It was said that the Baale tried to save the guys by refusing to hand them over, but after threats to burn down the baales palace and all within, the baale had no choice but to let the mob have the guys. The guys were brought out and brutally hacked to death in a most gruesome matter. The crowd was tremendous. They guys were subsequently burnt and completely decapitated. This is the report i got from those that witness the whole scene. As i said earlier anybody driving or even walking around Ikorodu after midnight at this time wants to commit suicide. I was informed that a military man was driving around odogunyan with an army sticker in the early hours of this morning. He was stopped at one of the numerous vigilante check points and was told to come down. When he hesitated, he received hot slaps. He was asked to sit down and then searched. On further interrogation he told them that he was an army officer, he then produced his ID card. Nothing incriminating was found in this car. After the Vigilante guys were sure that the soldier was not a badoo operative, he was advised to sit down in his car and wait for till about 6 before attempting to drive home, because there are so many vigilante check points along the way, and that they other guys might not be so civil. So you see Ikorodu is like a war zone at night right now. |

PreyingMantis:Like the adage goes, what a young bride will look like when she matures, can be inferred from the looks of the mother. What are the manufacturing and Agricultural base of the present biafran states? Where are the raw materials, agro allied industries, machine tools, machines, power, transportation system, manpower, etc to support a manufacturing and agricultural base in present day proposed Biafra? To day, which of the state governments earn any appreciable revenue from this manufacturing and agriculture? The Igbo states still depends of Bail out funds from oil revenues from the nigerdelta to pay salaries. |
Dedetwo:You are just on an emotional rant without basis in reality. Your rights as a foreigner is determined by the host government. Countries have expelled certain nationals and nothing happened. Presently, Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states have given Qatar citizens quit notice and all the Qataris are doing is try to negotiate a resolution of the crisis. Nobody would bomb the gulf states because of it. In the event of Nigeria Nationalizing Biafran assets or expelling all Biafrans from Nigeria, what retaliation can Biafrans exert? Expel Nigerians and seize Nigerian owned assets in Biafra ( Igbo states and other igboid groups in the south south)? Please do the maths and tell me the mean, median and mode of the equation. |
PreyingMantis:With the current structure, Nigeria cannot survive without oil. I cannot say if Nigeria would have diversified their economy away from oil in 30years time, but if it continues to rely on crude for over 70% of its foreign earnings, then Nigeria would not survive. A good reference is Venezuela. The country is failing simply because oil revenues dried up. Now answer the question, how will Biafra survive without oil revenue? How will you earn money to run your government and stabilize your economy ( including exchange rates) without petrodollars? |
Wrong assumptions, leading to wrong calculations and leading to wrong conclusions. Even if we agree with your assumption that Anambra, Imo and Abia produces 126,000 barrels per day at an international price of $50, you will not have 126000 x 50 =2.268 billion dollars at the end of the year. First you will have to deduct the cost of production of the crude ( which hovers between 25 - 30 dollars per barrel), then you do profit sharing with the oil companies producing the crude ( Nigeria's ratio is 60:40). At $50 per barrel, you will be lucky to get $15). If the Nigerian government just pockets $50 per barrel of crude sold, then at over 2 millions barrel per day, we would be very wealthy indeed. |
attackgat:We had that opportunity just before independence, but the Igbos pushed for and got a one Nigeria, thereby forcing us into this marriage of convenience. A referendum could have been possible before independence (afterall, southern Cameroons held a referendum to stay with cameroon instead of Nigeria), but a referendum now is impractical if not impossible. |
attackgat:I am reacting based on IPOB strategy of seeking to secede with the use of threats and hate speeches against Nigeria and other tribes in Nigeria. If Biafra unilaterally declare secession, that is tantamount to declaring war. Countries are like civil marriages, once contracted is often very difficult to divorce. Some divorces are highly acrimonious and difficult. Scotland that you guys like to use as example had fought two independence wars, held a referendum and still not free from England. Northern Ireland is a different cup of coffee. Even Honk Kong is yet to free itself from Chinese rule. |
