100% supported. I have always told the Igbos on this forum that non Igbo tribes of the Nigerdelta wants nothing to do with their utopia - Biafra, but they often get offended, cursing and calling us all kinds of derogatory names like Yoruba ( Yoruba is the most derogatory name to a Biafran), backstabber, efulefu, slave, etc. Is alliance by force? I understand their pains, Igbos need Portharcourt for sea access, and they would fight tooth and nail to include it in their Biafra. Without Portharcourt, no Biafra. Biafrans are now calling the whole of Portharcourt Igbo land. Imagine how Yorubas feel when they say Lagos is no man's land and not Yoruba land. Barcanista, just prepare yourself for serious war over Igwe-Ocha. You will be surprised that majority of those claiming Portharcourt are not even Ikwerre, but Igbos from anambra and imo. |
Rose2014:Crap... Biafra never wanted regionalism, all Biafra wants is DOMINATION. It was a Biafran that took us away from regionalism and imposed Unitarianism on all of us, of which we are all suffering now. Biafra only threatens secession if she losses out in the Nigerian power play. I am still at loss with you obsession with our own problems, when you have your own problems. We know our own problems, we will fight for resource control and 50% derivation our own way and on our own terms, we do not need Biafrans to prompt us. Afterall, we started from 0%, we have achieved 13% as of today, and we are working at 25%. Our final goal is 50%. The reason you see most non Igbo Nigerdeltans talk about resource control when Biafra is mentioned is because you people always mention us in your talk of Biafra. We are educating the rest of the world that we have nothing to do with Biafra and Biafran struggle is different from Nigerdelta struggles. |
BushidoBlue:Do not try to justify what is wrong. The post of EZE-INDIGBO is a misnomer, there cannot be two Kings in a territory (a king for the indigenes and one king for Igbos). The Igbos can have representatives that protect their interests in diaspora, but having kings complete with crowns and palaces is unacceptable. Even Jesus was persecuted and killed because he was accused of claiming to be the King of the Jews when there was an existing king. |
EUROBOMBER:Welcome back. It is good for people like you to come out and speak against the senseless rants by Kanu and is Aba traders gang. They are trying to mislead and radicalize Igbo youth with lies and falsehood in other to turn them against other tribes in Nigeria. You will never find older generations of Igbos who actually experience the civil war advocate for another civil war. Nobody is condemning self determination agenda of some Igbo Groups, it is their rights, but the problem, is the manner they are going about it. You cannot force other indigenous people into your own struggles. Secondly, You have over 10 million Igbos scattered all over Nigeria, what will be their fate should hostilities break out between Nigeria and Igbos? Can IPOD handle the expected "exodus" into Igboland? Remember, the population of Igbos in other parts of Nigeria had increased over 10 fold since the last civil war. If the Igbos want to secede, they should form political groups with secession as the manifesto and win elections. Then their political representatives can make a case for secession at the National Assembly, OAU and UN. Threatening everybody that does not share your views is foolish. What is even the strength and influence of IPOD? I doubt they are not more than 10,000, at most 20,000. Are these small minority a fair representation of the dreams and aspirations of millions of Igbos? |
Barcanista's views represents the views of most tribes of the Nigerdelta, except Igbo related communities. We do not care about Biafra but would hate to dragged along with Igbo agitations for succession. If Nigeria were to split, we would prefer to be on our own. So IPOD and Kanu sould quit mentioning Nigerdelta anytime he makes is case for Biafra. |
kaycid77:Why don't you take up Amaechi's challenge to the senators, since you are wiser than them all and present the the sections that indited Amaechi of corruption. |
wirinet:Prophesy come true. |
creepsyme:The question you should be asking is why is Wike and PDP so desperate in thwarting the ministerial appointment of Amaechi as though the survival of the party depends on it? If he was not nominated as minister, the same PDP would castigate Buhari for being ungrateful and using a traitor to achieve his aims and dumping him, and would make a jest of Amaechi, calling him use and dump. |
Yanks101:And you? were you a result of a fail abortion? Are not River's senators PDP members lead by Felix Obuah and Wike? So what are you talking about? You People are the greatest antagonist of Amaechi outside PDP and Wike, especially on social media. As i said i can understand PDP pains, what i cant seem to grapple is you people grouse. |
This is the main difference between northern and southern politicians, while northern politicians collapse their personal interest into a single group interest in order to acquire and retain power, southern politicians - especially the southeastern ones destroy their group interest on the alter of personal interest, vendetta, hatred and jealously. Amaechi is one of the most influential south south or Igbo politician today, he was the most influential governor in the last dispensation and he is one of the closest person to the president. Instead of Igbos and south south Igbos generally to leverage on this influence, they are desperate to destroy the most influential politician of Igbo extraction, just because he was instrumental to the defeat of their hero at the polls. Even the Ijaws have move on and are positioning themselves in positions of influence in the new administration. Jonathan himself has been reaching out to political adversaries like OBJ to make peace. I won't even be surprised if Jonathan makes peace with Amaechi. One can understand Wike's grouse with Amaechi, but what is beyond comprehension is Igbos anger with him. It is ironic that the Igbos support and demonstrated for Saraki ( a yoruba -fulani man, but wants Amaechi skinned alive. Tomorrow the same people will come out and complain that Hausa fulanis are dominated the political space. Even if Amaechi is confirmed, he might be antagonistic towards the interest of the Igbos because of the hatred shown by them, and if he is not confirmed, the ministerial slot might be given to an inconsequential politician. In politics there is no permanent friends or enemies, only permanent interests. |
Ofodirinwa:Who told you her website is no. 1 in Africa? she is not even no. 1 in Nigeria. Check Alexa for most popular Nigerian Sites - http://www.alexa.com/topsites/category/Top/Regional/Africa/Nigeria The most popular Nigeria based site is Jumia, nairaland is the second most popular. While Nairaland is the 8th most popular site including foreign based sites, Linda Ikeji is number 32 - http://www.alexa.com/siteinfo/lindaikeji..com So, it is a lie that linda lkeji blog is number 1 in africa. If Linda can buy a half a billion naira house, Seun should be able to buy a 1 billion naira house. So i wonder why Seun is not monetizing the huge popularity of Nairaland. |
vanunu:Do you have evidence where he threatened to soak Nigerians in his own blood? Please show me where he incited his followers to arm themselves and be ready to kill other tribes. |
crixtex:He is now a "statesman" |
crixtex:Buhari wont and cant face OBJ. First OBJ was Buhari's oga, just like he was IBB's oga. In the Military, the esprit de corps spirit would not allow a junior officer to embarrass his former oga. It was only Abacha that broke that tradition. Then OBJ was instrumental to some extent in Buhari's victory at the polls. Buhari is known to reward people who helped ascend the presidency. |
PassingShot:You are politically sagacious (apology to Patrick Obahiagbon). Amaechi is the only bargaining chip Saraki and PDP has. If they refuse to confirm Amaechi based on Wike's allegations, then most PDP Senators and Politicians would not escape Buhari's wrath. The first to go would be Saraki himself, then all past PDP governors and ministers (even madam world Bank might not escape) and finally Jonathan. Akpabio is just being shown sample.. When the books are opened on all former PDP office holders, no body would come out unscathed. So Saraki and the Senate should "jejely" ask Amaechi to take a bow as he is the Son of Buhari, with whom he is well pleased. |
jemype:You remind me of those days when we used to go to the so called banana island to catch fish. We even used to walk from there to Ikoyi park (now park view estate). All these places were swamp in the early eighties. It is beyond belief that someone would be comparing Banana Island to old Ikoyi. |
He will be charged for Sedition and Treason. Inciting jobless igbo youth and illiterate traders to take up arms and kill Nigerian citizens. I hope the Nigerian government has recordings of all his hateful speeches to present as evidence wen charged to court. |
OP must be on cheap grass or an illiterate. How can you compare the value of one plot of land on Banana Island to a property on Bourdillon ( probably one acre). Most properties in old Ikoyi are built on a minimum of one acre. The real value of Tinubu property on Bourdillon can't be less than N1.5 billion. |
lygn19:Why are you this incoherent. You insinuated that an Eze Ndigbo is equal to a king and i asked for clarification and you are talking about fancy hats. What if the Deji hate the fancy hat and orders for its removal, besides you do not wear hats (fancy or otherwise) when visiting higher authority like kings, elders and deities. |
chuna1985:So an Eze Ndigbo is an Igbo king and must be accorded royal protocols when they visit the traditional kings of where they reside. This is my understanding of your response. |
lygn19:Stop threatening violence, nobody can predict the outcome of violence. Tune into CNN or Aljazeera and see millions of Syrian refugees treking thousands of miles including virtually swimming across the Mediterranean in order to get to Europe as refugees. If they knew they would suffer this much, they would have "jejely" let Assad be. Even if the war stops today, it will take Syria and syrians 20 years to get back to where they were before the war. |
lygn19:Careful what you pray for, you just might get it. Would achieving biafra mean Ndigbo would not have Eze Ndigbo anywhere in what is left of Nigeria. Does it mean also that Ndigbo would not live and trade anywhere in Yoruba or hausa land ? What exactly would change for the Igbos in diaspora (what is left of Nigeria) after achieving Biafra? |
Can someone explain to me exactly what eze ndigbo means and what his functions are. Is he akin to a king?, because according to this Akure saga, he wore a crown (some say it is a cap) and royal regalia to see the Deji, he is also said to have come with some chiefs. Is he a market leader? because the bone of contention was who is to be appointed or elected market leader. If the the Eze Ndigbo is not well defined, the Igbos will always have issues wherever the migrate. Imagine an Eze Ndigbo of London wearing a crown or cap in front of the Queen of England claiming to the the king of Igbos in London. |
rusher14:And how did you know the specs of the Bore hole, are you the one signing the checks? Fashola that was governor did not use specs as an excuse for such exorbitant cost, so you need to tell us how you came to the excuse of specs. |
I do not believe i would be on the same side as Chukwudi on any issue, but i have to agree with you here. Fashola goofed with this question. How can a governor feign ignorance at payments made and authorized by him. What Fashola is saying is that no executive office (whether public or private) should be held accountable for fraud and embezzlement in his organization or government as chiefs executive officers do not sign checks, it is the accountants or finance directors that do. |
abiodunalasa:The way you use the term technology is highly ambiguous. I thought you are talking about information technology because you made reference to Google. Technology is simply the application of science, so from agricultural sciences, you have agricultural technology and from information sciences we have information technology. Man had embraced technology since the stone age, so it will be impractical to practice agriculture without the use of some technology, the question should be what level of that technology. As i said earlier, our problem is our educational policy and priorities, we lay emphasis on humanities, administration and social sciences to the detriment of pure sciences and technology. So our agricultural technology is at best rudimentary. We lack appropriate machinery, good seedlings and poor harvest and storage facilities to produce food crops (and even cash crops) competitively. We rely on local illiterate farmers while we have millions of graduates roaming the streets. I am not saying we should jettison information technology altogether , but the reality is if we want to become food sufficient, get our youths employed and start on the road to industrialization, we must embrace an agricultural revolution. We would be wasting our time trying to to compete with the US and western Europe in terms of information technological services. |
abiodunalasa:I have static knowledge? that is a laugh. I am not on nairaland to boast of my knowledge, i am here to exchange ideas and maybe influence policy decision that would lead to a better Nigeria. I have studied the industrial revolutions, that started in England, moved to continental Europe, to the US, to Japan and most recently to China, and i can tell you one common thread, they mastered agriculture before ever starting out on an industrial revolution. Europe embarked on colonization of Africa simply because they needed cheap raw materials (especially agricultural) to drive their industries. As i said earlier, we cannot embark on an industrial revolution without an agricultural base. As it is, we import fish, poultry, fruits, rice, beans and lots of our food from abroad. All the industrialized countries are net exporter of food. We cannot industrialize on imported raw materials and imported food. The reason you people are parroting industrialization is because of free oil from the nigerdelta, with which we import food from abroad, if oil dies out or becomes less than $10 per barrel, nobody would tell the government before they take agriculture serious, except you want us to live on food aid from the industrialized nations. Why do you think President Roosevelt sign the " New Deal" policy in the 1930s, a policy that contain Socialist tendencies like Social security, Welfarism, social control of some resources etc ?I honesty do not understand how the quote above relate to the topic under discussion, please explain. Sir, knowledge is never static. It grows and evolve as our reality changes. Presently, every aspect of human existence is governed by Technology. That is our 21st century reality. We must wake up to it. Just like our mates, Malaysia , Singapore and Nicaragua , did !No body said knowledge is static, but evolution of societies follow a static pattern. Societies evolve from hunter/gatherer to agricultural to industrial and finally to information societies, it cannot be the reverse. |
Seun , why has this topic not hit front page ? If this had been an Igbo vs Yoruba mud fight, a Boko Haram bomb explosion, or any topic with the following keywords like Amaechi, Diezani, Wike, Jonathan and even tonto, it would have been rushed to the front page even it it has less than 10 views. Here we are talking about a critical part of Nigeria's history and possibly future, with well over 2000 nairaland views and over 1 million Facebook views, and Seun does not deem the topic good enough for front page |
I consider myself a student of industrialization, in fact i have read the industrial revolutions over and over again. But i have realized that you cannot have an industrial revolution without an agricultural revolution. A country must be able to feed itself before embarking on industrialization. Besides, the raw materials for industrialization is from agricultural products, so you don't expect our manufactured products to depend on imported raw materials. Secondly, and most importantly, we lack the technical manpower to embark and sustain an industrial revolution. Our education policy favours administrative education and support services, like accountancy, law, banking, finance, than technical education. We lack a machine tools industry, materials and metallurgical industry, and adequate power. Other crucial elements of industrialization are efficient and cheap transportation system and other infrastructural support. So for now, especially with highly limited resources, agriculture is more important to us than embarking on industrialization. |
ahaika23:So you know all these when Stella Oduah was indicted by a panel set up by Jonathan and even a panel set up by the senate and you people still went on to defend her because she is "our sister". You people still voted her into the Senate. When Buruji is still a Fugitive in the US, you guys opposed his extradition and supported his election into the senate, no issues there. But you now want to use Wike's hurriedly put together Kangaroo panel to stop Amaechi from becoming a minister? you must be joking. |
Editor1:Amaechi had never (and i emphasize NEVER) lost a political battle. He triumphed against OBJ, He won against Mama peace, he even won the governorship forum Chairman against a largely PDP dominated forum, and most importantly, he lead the defeat of Jonathan at the polls. I honestly do not see Wike and his 3 senators stopping Amaechi from becoming minister. |
Jonathan replace Dieziani? That is "impossicant" How can president number 5 remove president number 3. (remember the hierarchy of presidents, namely; 1. Patience, 2. Ngozi, 3. Dieziani, 4. Stella and last and the least Jona.) |
