itchie:This is what is called a pyrrhic victory. It will not discourage or reduce abortion. It will only make it more expensive and unsafe. Other countries tried banning abortion. It did not work, only for them to realize their mistakes decades later and unban it. |
basilico:I highlighted the key points in your argument. You talk about stable family. How many families in Nigeria (and even the US) are stable? Lots of children grow up in disjointed families. Might be a a consequence of polygamy, separation, divorce or even work related stress and pressures. There are families in which the children are subjected to all kinds of emotional, physical or sexual abuse among other types of child abuse. Good school? How many good schools have you identified particularly among boarding schools. Schools of nowadays suffer from the same incompetence, corruption/immorality and greed that afflict the general society. It will be a grave error for parents to abdicate the raising and monitoring of children to schoools. My wife and I monitor my children like hawks and believe in the Bible injunction of "spare the rod and spoil the child" when necessary. Women have myriad of ways of avoiding pregnancy. I know of some couples where the woman gets depo provera while the husband wants kids .True. But the myriad of ways does not always work or available when needed. Family dynamics must be discussed and agreed upon before marriage. In my own case I only wanted 2 children, but after 2 boys my wife was begging for another child because she felt lonely being the only female in the house. I agreed and tried again. When she got pregnant, she practically spent the early period in her church in prayers. I made it clear that if its also a boy, that is, because I don't have the energy and resources to raise 4 children. So when it came out a girl, she was over the moon. Since then she had been on birth control. It failed once and she had to go to her chemist friend for an abortion pill. Which took care of it effortlessly. My daughter was 8 yesterday and it was a big celebration both at her school and at home. What I am getting at is that the decision to have a child should rest solely on the couples or woman or bears responsibility for birthing, caring and raising the child. If you hear the cost of CS nowadays fear go catch you to get pregnant. We never even talk of pampers yet. Ectopic pregnancy. The life of the mother and kid are in danger so terminate. But the screaming liberals want to be sent abortion pills via mail any time they feel like they want to get rid of the baby inside them. But many red states says want to prohibit abortion under all and any circumstances. Yes abortion pills should be made readily available just like contraceptive pills. Afterall they work in similar ways to achieve the same goal. If a woman does not want a foreign body inside her, you cannot force her to. If you force her to birth a baby she doesn't want, then what happens to the baby once it leaves her body. Are you also going to prosecute her for abandoning the baby and refusing to breatfeed it? |
Elnuk34:You guys are still avoiding the main mystery question. How did a poor boy pushing wheel barrow in Ikotun meet a whole senator (a former deputy senate president at that? What is the relationship between the senator and the boy? |
itchie:If all safe sex options available fails nko? Or if she is too young (12 -14), was raped or involved incest nko? What of ectopic pregnancy? How will you guys deal with ectopic pregnancy? |
otipoju:Applying for a visa for the boy does not exonerate Ekweremadu from human trafficking. What will exonerate him is how he came about the boy, his relationship with the boy. People buy slaves in Nigeria and applies for visa to take them abroad. |
obailala:Leave the harvest his organs without his consent part. That's to add spice and salt to the story. Most likely there was some financial inducements and the boy is aware that One Ekwerenmadu dare not raise the issue of money in court, else he will land in jail. |
Halo22:Implicated or vindicated? Did the boy truly agree to donate one of his kidney to a complete stranger ? And why? |
jaxxy:You dey ask that one again? Is there any 21 year old guy from a poor family that would miss the opportunity to japa? Any gentleman's or under the radar agreement is the boys business to prove if he likes and if he can. Everybody will play smart. The agreement gentleman's or otherwise is null and void abinitio (according to my learned friends). why not say NO than causing trouble for people who didn't force u into anything. He saw a once in a life time opportunity and took it. |
obailala:Ekwerenmadu was not very smart at all. UK (and US) is not the place you should carry out such not so legal activity. The doctors and authorities would interrogate the boy and pass through some rigorous administrative process before carrying out such operation. They would want to find out why the boy agreed to donate his kidney. Ekwerenmadu should have done the operation in India or even UAE where they would not ask much questions. |
Judolisco:I am sure the patents were not aware of the arrangement. Which parent will agree for his son to donate a kidney to a total stranger even with money involved? I am curious to know the relationship between the Ekwerenmadus and the boy. |
jaxxy:Answer this question, why will a 21 year old agree to donate a kidney to a stranger? What are the incentives? Even though I think the boy is playing smart, you can not exonerate Ekwerenmadu for being shady and liable for engaging in illegality. What is his relationships with the boy? Is there monetary inducement involved? If the boy was a relation, I am certain there would not be any issue. Paying (buying) for an organ is clearly illegal. There are legal processes for getting donated organs. |
benalvino3:Sorry but I have elect not to respond to you. It's not reasonable arguing with someone who is so obsessed with trump and all his election fraud conspiracies, that they become delusional. Its like arguing with a flat earth believer. No matter the evidence presented, even if you put them in a rocket and send them to the moon, they will still find a conspiracy to continue his delusions. No matter the evidence. Even if Ivanka, Jared, Steve bannon and Trump himself confess that the Biden actually won the elections. A few maniacs will still find a conspiracy to dispute their statements. |
budaatum:Imagine states are free to determine their abortion laws but are not free to determine their gun laws. And conservatives claim to concerned about human life. Hypocrisy of the highest order. |
BenzEne1:So a woman can wear bum shorts and spaghetti top to a public school or space if she can prove that it's part if her believe, culture or fashion sense? |
JARUSHUB:In this post Covid era of Internet and work at home? My friend that works for a indigenous oil company has not gone to his physical office since covid. He goes to their physical office maybe once a month. |
Greenscientist:So how would you then interpret Section 10 chapter 1 Part II of the Nigerian Constitution Section 10 that Prohibition establishment of State Religion. "The Government of the Federation or of a State shall not adopt any religion as State Religion." |
Naajjii:If Islamic law is supreme to you and to be its the constitution, why then should be be lumped in the same country? Should you not advocate for a separation where you can create an Islamic Republic and me in a secular Republic where I can drink my beer and gin in peace. |
Naajjii:And my Christian school is also predominantly Christian area. Which standard? You are preventing me from practicing my religion and you are talking of standard. My religion demands the use of alcohol before my prayers and supplications can reach my God? I know your bigotry and hypocrisy cannot make you understand that. There are many mosques and Islamic activities in igboland. In fact many igbos are Muslims. |
Naajjii:But you specify that non Muslims must not sell or drink beer in kano. You guys are just to obsessed with imposing your religious views on others. |
Naajjii:You sound like one of those suicide bombers, who is ready to commit murder and suicide for Islam. Why will you impose your religious dress code in my private business? |
Naajjii:Then you are saying a non Muslim girl can go to a Muslim school without an hijab or head coverings even if hijab us specified in the school uniform? |
Naajjii:What if I don't want hijab in my school? |
Greenscientist:Are you now insinuating that uniforms should ve done away with? and people can dress whichever they like according to their religious, cultural or social preferences to places or situations that demanded uniforms. That also means Muslim women judges (including supreme court judges) can wear hijab on top of their wigs while presiding in court. |
jacoik:I concur.
|
feedthenation:It's shocking that Trump and his fellow coup plotters are still walking the streets. In other climes death penalty is the punishment for attempting to overthrow (even with violence) a democratically elected government. I have lost all respect for the US democratic system. Its only a matter of time before someone more intelligent than Trump take power illegally in the US. |
JARUSHUB:Which exposure, growth and learning opportunities wey dey ikoyi wey no dey ikeja? |
olamilarks:You are only talking about half the stress. The stress of coming from ikoyi daily nko? If you face Kingsway/Osborne traffic, then come add am to oworoshoki/third mainland Bridge traffic, come conclude am with Oshodi/ikeja traffic fives times a week. You will age ten years in just one year. |
mmsen:Gbam! That's the strategy of fundamentalist Muslim and Christians. Encourage people to have multiple children to further impoverish them to the point of desperation. Thereby making them prone to political and economic exploitation. |
Romanoff:Unmarried folks have sexual urges and needs just like married couples. The hormones testetorone and estrogen don't care if you are married or not. We should learn to accommodate our sexuality instead of fooling ourselves by fighting it. Sex education and dangers of indiscriminate sex should be a taught to children entering puberty so they can understand and cope with changes in their bodies. You religious folk behave like the proverbial ostrich. You hide your head in the sand hoping the problem will go away and pretend you are not seeing it. As for married folks, if after you've had a form of birth control and it fails, have the baby and seek a more permanent form of birth control after the birth of the child.I am married with 3 children. I just cannot cope with one more child. I am already working my bones off to provide quality life and education for them. My wife is on birth control and monitors her cycle. If she misses her period by 3 days, off do the pharmacist she goes. To me,the only grounds for aborting should be if the pregnancy is as a result of a rape or child molestation, if the fetus is not forming well or if the life of the mother is in danger so the pregnancy must be ended.Good for you. To me a woman or couple should not be forced to birth a child they are not financially and emotionally ready to take care of. |
Romanoff:To me they are better grounds for abortion than abandoning newborns in the Bush, dustbins or gutter. They are better grounds for abortion than watching children suffer depravity and abandonment. You think without the one child policy, China would have become an economic giant it is today? |
Romanoff:Not being emotionally, physically or financially prepared for a baby is a medical reason. Now answer this. How was China able to effectively implement the one child policy for over 30 years? |
Malachite:The same advice too should be given to religious people. They should also stop the condemnation and discrimination against couples - married or otherwise who live by their non religious beliefs. |
