Wow! This is extremely sad. |
KnightsTemplar:Death rate is higher in Nigeria. I think that should be the ultimate factor. |
BigDawsNet:A man shot in the states, it's news. Hundreds die in Nigeria, it's normal. Yes, I still need that visa. |
richiemcgold:Lol... Thank God there's no gun violence in Nigeria, right? |
I'm sure they're both getting what they want. HML to them! |
elonmuskbaby:It was posted in the celebrities section. That section exists for things like this and there are people who find it interesting. I understand if it's not your thing but the forum isn't tailored to fit into your personal preferences. It's a public forum. The ideal thing would be for you to ignore anything you don't find appealing. Being the first to comment on a thread you don't find newsworthy just to say you don't find it newsworthy doesn't really help cause you're only proving such threads could generate traffic and that's all the mods need to keep pushing them to the front page. Hope you catch my drift. |
elonmuskbaby:She put it on her account. Her own Instagram account where she has the right to put anything she likes just like anyone else. Then NL and bloggers found it newsworthy. I'd say it's not her doing. |
crafteck:You guys always keep hammering on gender modifications as if it's the worst thing that has happened to mankind. If you're given the options of switching your problems as a country with those of Canada, would you honestly opt to to stick with the Nigerian problems? Yes, we advocate for freedom of choice. You have the right to see it as a bad thing, but even at that, it doesn't make the general situation of things in the western world any worse than what is obtainable in Africa. This idea of picking one "vice" and hammering on it is just ridiculous. |
Ddokie:The guys who laid the foundations of the developed societies and made those societies what they are today were raised very hard and under very strict standards. The same standards that Africa has been applying since creation, why is the foundation not laid just yet? If the way to harden kids is not responsible for your situation, how come you believe the strict standards of the ancient westerners are responsible for their superiority? You can't apply double standards. And if none of the both approaches is superior to the other, then what's the justification for hitting your kids? |
kiddkash:Hope has never changed a child. I wouldn't advise you bank on it. But there are other ways to be strict asides flogging. Just saying. |
UncleKoboko:Guys, this person I'm quoting was probably flogged by his or her parents. Now, would you say he turned out well or better than kids who weren't flogged? He doesn't know my religion. He doesn't even know me. But his best approach to make his point known is to start with "shut up" while gearing up for a fight. He knows I can't flog him so there's nothing to fear. He never learned the need for decorum when there’s no one to hit him. This is just an illustration. |
Godszilla:There's a difference between intelligence and wisdom and you think Africa is wiser than the western world, right? Ok, that's fine. Back to the topic, I was raised by parents who never hit me for once. So I'm a product of my own experience. The Bible made the statement but the same bible also said you should cut out the body part that would lead you to sin. How many have you cut out so far? There are many ways not to spare the rod, bro. How many times did Joseph hit Jesus when he disobeyed? |
Llight101:Even these countries were 'colonized' by the western world. So one can't say flogging thier kids brought them to where they are. I'm not saying the western style is the best, but flogging isn't any better. So if flogging doesn't create better adults, what's the justification for it? |
Nauttyprof:I didn't choose a side. The action is here hitting a kid. And that's what needs to be justified. If none of the two sides is superior to the other like you said, then what's the justification for hitting your kid? |
ezenwajosh:You've said it all. |
bukatyne:Thanks for the info. However, I still believe a parent can be extremely strict without hitting the kids. I grew up with parents like this and my siblings don't hit thier kids too. Like I always said, we're all products of our experiences. |
Ideyontop:Lol... the same bible said you should cut out the body part that would lead you to sin. How many have you cut out so far? You'll have to know what God is saying before asserting who claims to know more than God. |
fof1:Ok, sir. Your first line is self contradictory though. You said it's not figurative, then you went ahead to describe it as figurative. If it doesn't literally mean you should hit the child with a rod, then it's figurative. |
coolcharm:I never said Africans don't love thier kids. I'm sure they do. I'm only talking about their way of expressing that love. A little deviation, you ask what good the humans raised in the West are, yet they are the brains behind the modern world as you know it today. Civilization started in Africa yet the West is light years ahead today. Everyone wants to run away from Africa to the West yet we say they're of no good. I know the only thing Africa has got going her is her dignity and pride, and Africans like to think they're more reasonable humans. That's a great sense of pride. But it would be ridiculous to pretend Africa has contributed half as much as the West to the well-being of mankind. Let's just leave it at that. Back to the topic, I think flogging kids is a brute force approach adopted by people who do not have the knowledge or skills to implement alternative methods. It's hardening and only teaches the kids to master better of ways doing what they want to do without getting caught. I think a kid who doesn't do something wrong not because he understands the implications, but just out of fear of being hit is a time bomb. |
Interesting. It looks harmless, but scary nevertheless. Thanks for sharing. |
For the same reasons some people prefer apples to oranges. |
coolcharm:That's actually a figurative statement. If hitting kids with rod makes them better adults, Africa would have been producing the best humans. I believe a child raised without being hit like an animal has a higher tendency of being honest, open and compassionate. |
Hhmm... the school has rules and she either accepts them or find another school. But then again, why hit a kid for her haircut when you could easily reach out to the parents and reprimand them if the hairstyle is not acceptable by the school's standards? That girl is barely a teen. She's the responsibility of her parents/guardians. Talk to her parents, you can even expel her if they refuse to conform to the rules of the school; just don't treat the kid like an animal. |
Tapout:Haha.. that got me laughing too. Even Rihanna 'japa-ed' from the country to the US. It's a nice place actually. Besides, I believe choosing a vacation location has little to do with how developed the place. I just fear these countries will start requesting visiting visa when Nigerians start going there as "permanent visitors". |
ifyken:Wow! I didn't see that coming. You're really angry. But you don't seem like the type of person you're trying to portray. I mean, you clearly know the difference between right and wrong, and you wrote like someone with conscience. I don't have a solution because we all have our problems regardless of where we live. But I sure know that going haywire when one is frustrated is the fastest way to spiral down. It has never helped anyone. In fact, it makes you a source of frustration to others, and the state of Nigeria today is a good example of the possible rippling effect of that. We always have choices and we must live with the consequences our actions. Do what your heart tells you is right and stay open minded. Good luck! |
Wow... women are trying. |
GIANTPLUSHUB:Lol... it's not a competition. We say black lives matter not because white lives don't matter, but because racism against blacks is the subject. Likewise, she's preaching love for the girl child not because the boy child deserves any less, but because the African society already prefers the boy child. Tonto already worships her son, that's enough to tell you she wasn't out to undermine the boy child. Good morning. |
LaserWr:What exactly did he do NK? |
ifyken:American? Ewww... Hell no! Lol... just kidding. But yeah, I'm not American. And as much as I like spending time in the US, I think I prefer being Canadian. To answer your question, I've been on NL for almost 10 years. A Nigerian friend of mine who came here to do his MSc. program introduced me to the app when I indicated interest in learning the African culture (actually, I can't remember what exactly I wanted to learn, but you get the point). My parents are Nigerians, so invariably, I'm also a Nigerian (at least, I have a Nigerian passport). So I'm not actually your guy if you really want to have an idea of what an American with no connection to Nigeria thinks about the country. Now speaking as a Nigerian, I'd say NL does not paint a good image of the country. Heaven knows I'd never share this app with my non Nigerian friends, lol. Asides the fact that people are unnecessarily aggressive here, the herd lifestyle is disquieting. People of religion A think they are superior to those of religion B. Ethnic group C thinks ethnic group D is inferior. Region E people think they can't progress until region F people fail. The police/military believe they are higher citizens than the civilians. The men believe hardworking women are a threat to thier status as the superior gender. Straight people think it's thier God-given right to kill gay people. The politicians believe themselves to be above the law. The youths see gaming the system as being "smart". Everybody is blaming everybody else. Nobody is really willing to fight for true equality/liberty. People only cry out when thier own herd is at the receiving end of the discrimination. And then everyone acts surprised when the leaders aren't angels. Where would the angels come from? Lol Anyway, this is an overly generalized perspective and shouldn't undermine the fact that people are different. Besides, NL isn't really enough to go by. Are you Nigerian? |
TheGidRedpiller:Lol... you call yourself a red piller and you're this scared of women? Pardon me, I really don't know how your redpill/bluepill thing works but I believe a man who's looking for a woman without dreams to marry is a sissy who is easily intimidated. An true male whose masculinity is not as fragile wouldn’t have any problem with career women. But like I said, it's very simple, don't marry a lady with high potentials. Get one without ambitions and be the only earner. Some of us can't enjoy the kind of life we want or give our kids the very best without support from our spouses, so leave those hardworking ones for us. Set a standard for yourself and stick to it. We are products of our life experiences and backgrounds. I went to some of the best schools North America cause my parents pooled their resources together to make it happen. I won't deny my kids that cause I'm intimidated by ambitious women. |
Limassol: KevinDein:Dignity and respect? Lol... You guys can't be serious. How many people really think about dignity and respect when pursuing sexual pleasure? The man of the house that sleeps with the help doesn't know he'd likely lose dignity and respect? Does the madame that sleeps with the driver think of dignity and respect? All of a sudden, you expect it from a random lady you met? While trying to judge her with high standards, you end setting a low one for yourself. You're so eager to call her stupid but you don't really know what she wants and as a result, you can't tell if she's getting it. You treat her like trash but she does not mind. The door is very open for her to leave but she insists on staying. She even gives you food. And you think she's not getting what she wants? I'm not saying she isn't in love, but if you really think that's the only possibility, then we're going to have a hard time figuring out who the stupid one is. |
LaserWr:When you say "this happens...", what exactly happens? Nothing special has happened yet. Countries do war games every now and then. North Korea even made it a routine during Trump's administration. Or should the American president stop them from doing war games to prove he's tough? |

How many of our leader have been to those countries for vacation or anything?? That's what we should be asking him.
