NFF get Amodu sack order Posted: 2010-01-18 07:34 NFF President Sani Lulu Abdullahi has been given what amounts to a 'Presidential directive' to fire Super Eagles coach Shuaibu Amodu and replace him with a foreign coach. Lulu and members of his NFF board met with the Presidential Task Force led by Governor Chibuike Amaechi on Saturday night, where Lulu, who has dug his heels in supporting Amodu, was told in no clear terms that there was a direct order from the Vice Presidency to fire Amodu, especially after the performance against Benin. Lulu resisted as usual, but was told that further intransigence would be construed as direct contravention of a Presidential order. At the end of the meeting, NFF management staff were set to work to review Amodu's contract with a view to ensuring that the terms of termination are properly followed. Another group was directed to look into the cost of hiring a new coach, and means of sourcing the financing. No timeline has been set for the final disengagement, neither has a decision been made as to whether the coach will be part of any arrangement. Colin Udoh |

There is $25 000 at stake in the African Nations Cup group clash between Nigeria and Benin Republic, after strikers Obafemi Martins and Razak Omotoyossi took a bet over the outcome. According to Omotoyossi, the bet was made between both players soon after the draws were made. "He is one of my best friends and he is someone I love and respect," Omotoyossi said in an interview with Nigerian newspaper The Nations. "We discuss all the time and as soon as we were grouped together he called me and said 'look we are going to win this time'. "I said 'we (Benin Republic) are going to win. Then he said 'okay if you (Benin) win then you (Omotoyossi) will get twenty five thousand dollars' and I said okay no problem that if Nigeria win I will give him twenty five thousand dollars and we sealed it there. It’s a deal. I don’t know how it got to journalists but the deal is sealed. He is my best friend so he cannot run away." Omotoyossi is of Nigerian parentage but represents Benin Republic, and will be leading the Squirrels' attack on Saturday. Martins, however, is yet to rejoin his team mates after a trip to Europe. Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu has been handed an ultimatum by the NFF (Nigeria Football Federation) to get a win in his next game against Benin in the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday or face the sack. After losing 3-1 to defending champions Egypt in their opening group game on Tuesday in Benguela, the coach has come under tremendous pressure to deliver victory for Nigeria. Complete Sports has said that NFF officials have been debating pushing aside Amodu and handing the team over to assistant coach Daniel Amokachi. But the federation officials have resolved to give troubled Amodu one last chance to prove his mettle against Benin, failing which he will be asked to hand over the reins of the team to Amokachi. In reaction, the team's media coordinator Idah Peterside said that Amodu has a secure job as long as he leads the team to the pre-tournament agreement of at least a semi-final finish. Also calling for support for Amodu is a member of the Presidential Task Force in charge of the Super Eagles, John Fashanu. He says there is still time for the gaffer to make amends. "It is not enough to crucify Amodu for losing one match in this competition. He needs encouragement to do better in the next matches," Fashanu told The Punch. Reports say that Amodu has already begun to take out his frustrations on journalists at the team's training headquarters by not granting any interviews after the training session on Thursday. |
Plot, intrigues against VP thicken - Power, water supplies regularly interrupted in Aguda House - His correspondences under close monitoring - VP keeps mute By Our Reporters Friday, January 15, 2010 VICE-President Goodluck Jonathan has been subjected to great discomfort in the last four weeks, as events are attesting to this, Nigerian Tribune investigations have revealed. Since the clamour by Nigerians that Vice-President Jonathan should act as president has been intensified following the continued absence of President Umaru Yar’Adua, who is thought to be currently recupperating in a Saudi Arabian hospital, the vice-president is reportedly prone to attacks in the Villa, according to Nigerian Tribune source. One of such attempts against the number two citizen was through food poisoning, which sources said the vice-president himself had taken note of and therefore refrained himself from taking food and drinks served in the State House. Nigerian Tribune also gathered that events in the last four weeks in the Villa suggest that there is more to the threat to the life of Vice-President Jonathan. The latest remote or near incident, according to sources, indicated that a top company which manages Aso Rock, is this time orchestrating the plan. For instance, sources said the entire Presidential Villa was thrown into darkness on Tuesday night, when the vice-president was billed to host members of the Diplomatic Corps in Aguda House. The incident was so dramatic that even the envoys were quite stunned. Sources said that as soon as the diplomats began to trickle in, the Villa was, without warning, plunged into darkness for close to one hour. The confused ambassadors, it was gathered, were seen huddling together, wondering if the Presidential Villa had no standby generator, or if there was something sinister about it. Nigerian Tribune learnt that, when power was finally restored, the central public address system failed to work, causing the vice-president’s aides to run helter-skelter for remedy. The Nigerian Tribune gathered that it was not the first time such an incident had happened. Sources said that in December 2009, during the Christmas Carol night hosted by the vice-president, the Villa was similarly thrown into darkness, causing a similar scare. “And when power was eventually restored, the air conditioners were deliberately shut down. Over 100 guests had to endure the suffocating heat of the banquet hall during the event, but dramatically, the air conditioners began to work again as soon as the event ended,” the source said. It was learnt that mobile phones are programmed not to work in the Presidential Villa, leaving the principals and staff with no choice but to use the telephone lines run by the company. Nigerian Tribune learnt that situation had become so bad that the company is being fingered in an effort to sabotage the vice-president’s activities in the Villa. During the week, Jonathan was said to have issued a query to the company over recent happenings. The role of the top company said to be managing the Villa was also said to be another “instrument” being used to sabotage the efforts of Vice-President Jonathan or cause him discomfort. The Nigerian Tribune learnt that given its vantage position, the company holds sway over virtually all activities in the Villa. It was gathered that its access to every part of the villa is unrestricted. Sources said: “The company has unfettered access to the vice-president’s offices and the innermost recesses of his living quarters. They control the telephones, so they can have access to the vice-president’s conversation, and they run the internet services, so they have access to private e-mails through the web portal.” It was gathered that this company is being used to monitor the vice president’s activities, while sources said that “they do this by shutting down facilities like electricity and water at such hours in sections of Aguda House and when they are inevitably invited to check what has gone wrong, they are able to pinpoint where the vice-president is and when.” Meanwhile, rather than abating the constitutional crisis, Wednesday’s verdict by the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court, Justice Daniel Abutu, has further deepened the logjam occasioned by the long absence of President Yar’Adua. Abutu, had on Wednesday, directed Vice-President Jonathan to perform the functions of the president in his absence. Curiously, the judge was emphatic that Jonathan was not an acting president as adherence to section 145 of the constitution, according to Abutu, was at the discretion of the president. This is coming on the heels of a warning by the Ijaw National Congress (INC), the umbrella body of Ijaw ethnic nationality, that the verdict was capable of causing further damage than ameliorating it. INC’s position was made known by its National President, Dr Atuboyedia Obiannime. Obiannime spoke as constitutional law expert, Professor Itsey Sagay, said that the verdict had said nothing new. Also, the coordinator of Ijaw Monitoring Group, Joseph Evah, canvassed that further steps should be taken to address the issue along the constitution instead of putting the nation’s judiciary to ridicule. ”The development is a very welcome one. I mean it means that the judiciary is also seen to be performing its duties as the third tier of government. But I doubt if the verdict has really leveraged anything near the resolution of the crisis because it is already a constitutional crisis. Rather, I see a situation where some persons have decided to impose their political inclinations as well as their personal views on the nation. By and large, what they are doing is simply replacing the nation’s supreme document, which is the constitution, with their views. “In my own view, this is very dangerous and it is capable of instigating doubts in the minds of the people, whether the prayers of Nigerians are, indeed, needed. Nevertheless, much as the INC will continue to pray for the quick recovery of the president, it abhors anything aimed at undermining the nation’s constitution to suit the personal whims and caprices of a few individuals. “We pray for the vice-president as he pilots the affairs of the nation, but he has to be wary of booby traps such as this verdict,” Obiannime said. Sagay said “this verdict has said nothing new in its enterity. I have not seen the full text of the verdict, but from what I have seen this morning in some newspapers, it is mere academic exercise for anyone to say the vice-president should continue to perform the duties of the president. “The verdict is nothing new from what the justice minister said that all other things requiring the attention of the president are being attended to by the vice-president. To me, the verdict has successfully affirmed that position. Beyond that, the verdict is a very trickey one that requires the carefulness of the vice-president because it is capable of pitching him against the constitution and, even, his boss. In his own reaction, Evah said ”the verdict delivered by the chief judge of the Federal High Court has confirmed that there is a cabal in this country that is trying to subvert the nation’s constitution by all means, but Nigerians will reject it with all legal means because the nation belongs to all of us. “What the judge said in the verdict was just to read out the provisions of Section 50 of the constitution; does Jonathan need a judge to answer his name as Jonathan or doesn’t he know that he is a vice-president? As far as we know, the verdict is another way of deceiving the vice-president to believe in the wrong thing but he will survive all these intrigues.” |

Indications emerged on Friday that the Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, was awaiting the reaction of either President Umaru Yar‘Adua or his wife, Turai, to Wednesday‘s ruling by a Federal High Court, Abuja, asking him to perform all duties vested in the President. This is even as a cabal in the Federal Executive Council loyal to the President and some stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party scheme to stop Jonathan from becoming Acting President any time soon. A reliable source in the Presidency told one of our correspondents on Thursday that the reaction of Yar‘Adua or Turai would determine the way forward for Jonathan. It was gathered that the Vice President had decided not to obey the Justice Dan Abutu ruling until he was directed to do so by Yar‘Adua or Turai. It was further gathered that Jonathan contacted Turai on Wednesday night to convey the court ruling to her husband and ascertain the disposition of the President to it. A source said, ”The Vice President, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, has contacted President Umaru Yar‘Adua for advice on the ruling of Justice Dan Abutu on Wednesday. Since the VC (Jonathan) could not access the President directly, he spoke to his wife (Turai) to ascertain the disposition of her husband to the ruling. ”The VP is still waiting for necessary directives from the President. Although the court has directed him to perform the duties of the Office of the President, he cannot go ahead to perform those duties just because the court has so directed, otherwise he would be seen as being disloyal and overbearing. So, any attempt to hurriedly obey the judgment would be misinterpreted by the loyalists of the President.” As at Friday (yesterday), our correspondent learnt, Jonathan, who does not have direct access to Yar‘Adua, was still waiting for a directive from the ailing President, who is today spending his 54th day in a Saudi Arabian hospital, to determine his next line of action. But while waiting for Yar‘Adua‘s response, the VP is said to have raised an independent team of legal practitioners to advise him on the ruling by the FHC presided over by Justice Abutu, that he could perform all the duties vested in the President without the latter transmitting a letter to the Senate President and Speaker of the House of Representatives as required by Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution. The FHC sitting in Abuja had ruled that Jonathan could exercise all the powers vested in Yar‘Adua in line with Section 5 (1) and 148 (1) of the 1999 Constitution in the absence of the President. The action determined by Abutu on Wednesday was instituted by a lawyer, Mr. Christopher Onwukwe. It was gathered that Jonathan opted for independent legal opinions outside the government because he had no confidence in the person of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aondoaka, SAN. Our correspondent gathered that the action of the VP was reinforced by the feelings in some quarters in the Presidency that the cabal loyal to Yar‘Adua might have masterminded the legal action before Abutu‘s court in order to portray Jonathan as nursing an inordinate ambition to become Nigeria’s Acting President. Saturday Punch investigation also revealed that the 2011 general election, jostling in the PDP by presidential aspirants of northern origin and the fear of Vice President Goodluck Jonathan among some powerful members of the FEC, are the reasons ailing President Yar‘Adua is being discouraged from handing over power to Jonathan. It was authoritatively gathered on Friday that although the President was flown to Jedda, Saudi Arabia on November 23 last year without formally handing over to his deputy in accordance with Section 145 of the 1999 Constitution, a cabal in the FEC who did not relate well with Jonathan were blocking the rectification of the constitutional breach to enable the VP to assume presidential power in acting capacity. A source in the Presidency who spoke with one of our correspondents on the condition of anonymity, said the cabal had been joined by the powerful northern members of the PDP who want to contest for the office of president now that it was obvious that Yar‘Adua will not seek a second term in office. “It is this cabal that is very close to the President and the bigwigs in the PDP that are stalling efforts being made to have Yar‘Adua endorse a letter that would be transmitted to the Senate President and the Speaker of the House of Representatives about his medical trip, which will make his deputy, Jonathan, the Acting President,” he said. Our correspondent learnt that the fear of the cabal made up mostly of ministers stemmed from the fact that they had not been relating well with the Vice President. “Before now, many of them, according to the source, did not see Jonathan as a force to reckon with in the Yar‘Adua Presidency and therefore treated him with disdain. They are also said to be of the opinion that their days in government would be numbered as soon as Jonathan becomes their boss. A source said, ”You see, the man (Yar‘Adua) is not power-hungry as many Nigerians think. The problem is beyond him. There are people who are nursing fears that if he transfers power to his deputy, they are gone. “This is because they have not been relating with him (the VP) very well. They have no regard for him. Many of them even see themselves as being closer to the President and therefore more powerful than the Vice President. “This is their dilemma. How will they begin to relate with him if power suddenly changes hand? They are afraid that they will be relieved of their jobs anytime the man becomes the President. That is the issue. But I think that the group will have to bow to the wish of the people and let the nation move forward.” Asked to name members of the cabal, the source listed the wife of the President, Turai; Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Chief Michael Aondoakaa; and Minister of Agriculture and Water Resources, Dr. Sayyadi Abba-Ruma as prominent among the group. It was also revealed that powerful northern PDP members who want to contest the 2011 presidential election on the platform of the PDP believed that if Jonathan was allowed to become the Acting President, he would become so powerful before the election that he could thwart the ambition of those he didn‘t favour. Our source said that although the VP would not be allowed to contest the presidency because of the power arrangement in the PDP which still favours the North to produce the President come 2011, allowing Jonathan to rule now would make him so powerful that he would have a say in who becomes the President. However, it was gathered that as it increasingly became inevitable that Jonathan would become the Acting President, the PDP chieftains who are nursing presidential ambition have already started working on an idea that would make the party to produce its presidential candidate as soon as the Independent National Electoral Commission releases the 2011 general election’s time-table in March this year, to neutralise possible interference by Jonathan. “In this arrangement, the party would select its presidential candidate and his running mate early so that the Jonathan Presidency would not wield such powers as to decide the party‘s candidate,” the source said. |
Turai Yar”Adua: A silent but influential First Lady National News Jan 15, 2010 By Chioma Gabriel, Deputy Editor She is one First Lady that is seen but hardly heard. Yet, she is perceived to be very influential in government and over her husband, President Umaru Musa Yar’ Adua. Part of the speculations about her was that certain decisions believed to be taken by President Yar’Adua were indeed taken by her. It is believed in several quatres that because of President Yar’ Adua’s failing health, his wife Turai holds sway on his behalf on many issues. For instance, during the last cabinet reshuffle, it was reported that ministers who were desperate to retain their portfolios lobbied the first lady. She is believed to be very influential in the appointment of the former Director-General of the National Action Committee on AIDS, Prof. Babatunde Osotimehin, as the Minister of Health. Before this time, Oshotimehim was said to be contending for the post of Director-General of National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration. Turai Yar’Adua whose pet project is cancer eradication was said to be interested in Osotimehin’s appointment to the health ministry because of the way he handled NACA anti-HIV/AIDS campaigns held in the six geo-political zones of the country. The First Lady who married Umaru Yar’Adua in 1975, and they have five daughters and two sons is also perceived to have influenced the President in several decisions although the President denied same when asked during a media pally whether his wife influences him. The President’s denial that his wife influences him has not however changed the common opinion about her. In the Villa , the First Lady is perceived to be fully in charge of many of the decisions being taken. She is perceived to be the President’s closest adviser and in the present era of his absence, she is said to be fully in charge. In the event of Yar’Adua’s inability to continue in office, the former Kebbi State governor Senator Adamu Aliero, who is now the Minister of Federal Capital Territory is listed as a likely vice-president. Turai was reported to have played a role in his emergence as the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory. It was also reported that the First Lady was responsible for the deployment of a long-serving minister, Dr. Hassan Lawal, to the Ministry of Works and Housing from his previous Labour portfolio. Lawal, a Minister of Labour in the last administration, combined his portfolio with the supervision of the Ministry of Health, when Prof. Adenike Grange and her deputy, Mr. Gabriel Adiuku, were made to resign on allegation of financial misappropriation. State governors also allegedly courted her friendship in their bid to remain close to the President. Sources alleged that these governors used their wives to court Turai’s friendship by advising them to initiate some projects that would demand inviting the First Lady to their states. Apart from President Yar’Adua denying the allegation of his wife’s influence, her spokesman, Mr. Lawan Bakori also dismissed them as mere rumours which were never substantiated. Turai Yar’ Adua was born in the Katsina Metropolis in July 1957, and she spent her formative years at the Government Girls Secondary School, Kankiya. Later on, she enrolled at the Katsina College of Arts, Science and Technology, Zaria, where she reportedly emerged as the best student in 1980. She obtained a Bachelor of Arts (Education) in Language from the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, in 1983. She had previously worked as a teacher before she became Katsina State First Lady when Yar”Adua was elected governor in 1999. She came into national reckoning in 2007 when her husband was elected president of the federal republic of Nigeria. Her antecedents affirm that she is committed to family life, love, charity and a strong faith in the Almighty God. Hajiya Turai Umar Musa Yar’ Adua, was later made the National Goodwill Ambassador for Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNCH) in Nigeria. |

Amodu drops Yakubu, Taiwo By JOHN JOSHUA-AKANJI Thursday, January 14, 2010 Following their floppy performance in the 3-1 loss to Egypt on Tuesday, Super Eagles’ Chief Coach, Shaibu Amodu, may have wielded the big stick by dropping striker Yakubu Aiyegbeni, defenders Taye Taiwo and Obinna Nwaneri. It was reliably gathered that there was much uproar in the Eagles’ camp after the loss with the players trading blames and also indicting Amodu for poor tactical formation. Also, Amodu was tongue-lashed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) for fielding an unfit Aiyegbeni and off form Taiwo and Nwaneri. Consequently, Amodu has decided to try out new players in the next game against Benin Republic on Saturday. The changes could see Elderson Echiejile replacing Taye Taiwo, Osaze Odemwingie replacing Yakubu Aiyegbeni and Chidi Odiah taking the place of Yusuf Mohammed. It was reliably gathered that Amodu was advised to make the changes in order to field only fit players for the match against Mozambique. The Eagles who is placed last in the group, plays Mozambique on Saturday in a match that will decide their progress in the competition. Meanwhile, Super Eagles handler, Shaibu Amodu, has revealed why the Super Eagles fell 3-1 to the Pharaohs of Egypt on Tuesday. “We played well and controlled the game, especially in the first half but somehow we made some silly mistakes and we were punished.” The erstwhile Orlando Pirates of South Africa gaffer assured Nigerians that the Super Eagles would work harder to ensure they win their next game against Benin slated for Saturday. Assistant captain, Joseph Yobo, further added that the players approached the second half of the encounter lackadaisically. “We started well and got a goal but they came at us and equalised. They also scored early in the second half to unsettle us. Had we come out in the second half, as we did in the first half we would have won this very difficult game,” the Everton of England defender lamented. |

"All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness," 2 Timothy 3:16 It is safe to conclude that all scriptures were divinely inspired by God and that obviously includes the Songs of Solomon. Osaze pushing for Benin start Posted: 2010-01-14 08:01 Osaze Odemwingie could start against the Squirrels of Benin on Saturday after the player himself confirmed that he is back to full fitness and ready to return to the pitch. “I am very fit now and ready to go. Yes, I am very okay,” the speedy forward said on the Nigeria Football Federation website, saying he was disturbed, like every member of the squad, over Tuesday’s loss to the Pharaohs of Egypt and is eager to step on the field against the tiny neighbours to the west on Saturday. Odemwingie has played at three African Cup of Nations finals (2004, 2006 and 2008) and is eager to have a feel of the ball at his fourth. He was one of Nigeria’s two alternate players at the 2002 World Cup finals, but did not play. He had been disturbed by an infection since the team arrived the training camp in Durban, South Africa at the end of December |
Amodu ultimatum, Nooij favoured Posted: 2010-01-14 07:57 Nigeria coach Shuaibu Amodu will have to win his next game against Benin convincingly or see himself shunted aside for his assistant Daniel Amokachi to take charge for the rest of the Nations Cup, while Mozambique coach Mart Nooij is favoured for the World Cup. Tuesday’s defeat to Egypt has seen the pressure on Amodu rise to unbearable levels and the Nigeria contingent held no less than three meetings on Wednesday as they sought to find a way forward, with confidence in Amodu’s abilities falling to a dismal low. The NFF executive committee have previously backed Amodu publicly, but KickOffNigeria.com understands that a heated meeting on Wednesday saw the majority of board members asking for Amodu to be asked to ‘step aside’ with immediate effect and hand over to Amokachi for the rest of the competition. However, NFF chairman Sani Lulu Abdullahi would have none of it and insisted that Amodu be given at least one more game, against Benin, to save his job. For the World Cup, the bulk of the NFF Executive Committee are in favour of Nooij, who is currently in charge of Mozambique. Nooij’s major edge over other contenders, including Claude Leroy who is in Angola, is his deep knowledge of the Nigerian team and players after scouting them during the qualifiers, and again for the Nations Cup. “There is no time between now and the World Cup for someone to try to study the team and we need somebody who already knows the players and understands the team,” a top official of the NFF said. An additional advantage for Nooij is that he is Dutch, and favours the 4-4-2 formation – which most Nigerians prefer – with an emphasis on wingers. The NFF top brass have also been impressed by the job the Dutchman has done with the Mambas. Another NFF official however told KickOffNigeria.com that although there has been no contact with Nooij recently, there has been ‘informal’ contact in the past and is confident a deal can be thrashed out after the Nations Cup. |
Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Hon. Daisi Akintan, has confirmed that Governor Gbenga Daniel of Ogun State will be vying for the Ogun East Senatorial District slot in the 2011 elections. Speaking with P.M.NEWS, the longest serving council chairman in Ogun State, said there is no iota of truth in the rumour making the rounds that he was eyeing the senate seat in 2011. Prince Akintan affirmed that his boss would be going for the seat. “There is no truth in the rumour that I will contest the senate seat in 2011. I have the authority to tell you that my boss, Otunba Gbenga Daniel, will be going for the senate, come 2011 and you know he is from my senatorial district. Why should I be competing with my Oga? That is not proper. We are going to rally round him and ensure that he gets there,” he stated. The soft-spoken council chairman assured further that the development witnessed in the state in the last six years would continue when Otunba Daniel moves to the senate. “We are all living witnesses to the development brought about by the present administration. We are lucky to have OGD in our senatorial district. So, when he gets to Abuja, I can assure you that he will continue with his laudable programmes and ensure that the district is developed beyond the present level,” he added. Ogun East Senatorial district comprises nine local governments out of the 20 local governments in Ogun State. The district is presently represented in the Senate by Senator Lekan Mustapha, who sources claim, is still interested in the position |

i think the point in all this is knowing where to strike the right balance - a guy who respects himself should never pester a lady coninously - as a guty when you toast a girl the first time and she says 'no' - sit back and watch her reaction - it is her reaction that would decide if you should make a second move or not - or sometimes if the first 'no' is so emphatic that should tell you that you don't need to make a second move for the ladies - it's only safe to say only someone from a low class or someone who lacks confidence will resort to insulting a guy -just like the example i used earlier : toaster: ngozi, you are fine o!the only mad person in this scenario is ngozi because the toaster has not done anything wrong - ngozi is the one whose behaviour is out of place |
Colin Udoh rates the Super Eagles’ performance in the 3-1 defeat to Egypt. Vincent Enyeama 7 Exposed over and over by his defence. Had to come out for that ball with his defenders nowhere to be found. Yusuf Mohammed 4 Continually lost his man and was under pressure for most of the game. Taye Taiwo 5 Strong defensively, when he stayed home to defend. Got caught when he advanced and was slow to track back. Joseph Yobo 6 Kept his composure and held his own against Zidan, but should have organised his defence better. Obinna Nwaneri 5 Tried too hard to cover for Taiwo and was left out of position on too many occasions. Yusuf Ayila 6 Strong in the tackle, full of running, kept it simple. Dickson Etuhu 6 Silently covered plenty of ground, but could have done more to cover for Taiwo. John Mikel Obi 6 Did not quite take charge of the offensive midfield position, but still shouldn’t have been subbed. Chinedu Obasi 8 Star of the show, and not just for his goal. Ran rings around Moawad and his defending was the reason Mohammed was not exposed more at right-back. Kalu Uche 5 Missed three glorious opportunities that could have sealed the game for Nigeria. Offered no defensive cover for his fullback. Would have been a four but for the assist he gave to Obasi for the goal. Yakubu Ayegbeni 3 Offered little. Obinna Nsofor 4 Came on and tried to run at the defence, but it didn’t quite fall for him Kanu 3 No time for him to warm himself into the game to make a difference. Shuaibu Amodu 4 It could all have been so different. All he had to do was take out the ineffectual Yakubu at the midway point and get on Nsofor earlier. And how do you explain taking off Mikel for Kanu? |
@hotchyk (poster) your friend wanted to use the guy to obtain visa so desperation might have pleyed a part but on a serious note, i feel only girls who lack self confidence engage in playing 'hard to get' - contrary to popular opinion, the length of time it takes fr a guy to get you does not affect the level of respect he accords you - just like i said on another thread, what men really want is the quality you bring into a relationship not the resistance you show - playing hard to get is sometimes counter-productive and could make the guy loose interest especially if such a guy has other options to consider ![]() |
