Writing creative literature is not an easy task. Kudos to you. Are your books properly edited for themes, settings, language, style, characters/characterisation, plot structure etc? Do you read stories and books by other writers especially award winning literary works from Commonwealth Writers Prize, Caine Prize etc? Do you send your stories to online literary journals, magazines, sites for publication especially the free ones? Do you attend any program online/offline to develop your skills in the field of writing? For the skits, you can use a good phone to shoot some skits, I know a person who started his movies making career that way 2 years ago, today he is shooting a standard movie. More importantly, pray as the spiritual has influence on the physical. 2 Likes |

Sai Baba now and forever. Our darling daddy has shown the world that Jack is not his mate.
This Twitter ban will bring more foreign investors to our great country because they are sure that our government can speedily implement declarations.
This Twitter ban has further built my confidence in our darling daddy. He is a man of his words, in less than 24 hours of declaring the suspension of Twitter's operations in Nigeria, all Telcos have complied and the ban implemented. Even the Attorney General has cooked up a law for offenders.
But it is not fair that CBN is yet to comply with our darling daddy's declaration of 2015 when he said that as President he will make $1= N1.
It is also not fair that the army is yet to comply with the FG's declaration of Boko Haram being technically defeated. Our Attorney General should please pass a law that incriminates anyone; bank or individual who exchanges dollars above 1Naira.
Because the speed used in implementing one decree should be the same speed used in implementing other fictitious declarations. |

NwaAmaikpe:

Point of correction Mr Osoba, do not try to rewrite history.
Fake news did not trigger the 1967 civil war because the pogroms were already ongoing in the North before the war. The civil war was triggered by the Hausa-Fulani leaders' decision to jettison a perfect resolution to the volatility that was agreed upon at Aburi, Ghana.
Sadly, this breach of agreement was encouraged by the Yoruba elites like Awolowo, Mobolaji Johnson and Adebayo who never considered that the accord was to their favour as well. Today Sanwo-Olu is fighting for a special state status for Lagos State. Would he have to do that if his kinsmen didn't sabotage the struggle for a federated nation of sovereign areas?
The civil war could have been prevented if only Yakubu Gowon kept to his side of the bargain.
Just like as in January 4th of 1967, the escalations going on right now can only be defused by regionalizing the nation and abolishing the 1999 Constitution to create one that won't encourage the impoverishment of him who should be rich to enrich him that should be poor.
It is not fair that it is okay for someone from Kebbi who scored 110 in JAMB gets admitted on merit for Medicine in a prestigious university while another from Anambra who scores 360 can't get into the same school for the same course.
It is also not fair that it is okay to see a Fulani man clutching daggers and machete while a Yoruba man who holds a pen-knife is arrested for being in possession of dangerous weapons.
Is it fair that the proceeds of Crude oil gotten from the Niger Delta region are spent in the North while the proceeds of Gold mining only belong to Zamfara?
Is it fair that Kano State should benefit from proceeds of alcohol sale through the Federation Accounts Allocation Committee (FAAC) despite sabotaging the profitability of Alcoholic Breweries and threatening their existence by destroying alcoholic drinks?
To think it is okay for Bagudu to get some of Sani Abacha's recovered loot but the Federal Government has the exclusive right of that of James Ibori and not even Delta State whose funds it is in the first instance.
If different laws apply for different people, then it is only fair to split the country so as not to make anyone feel disenfranchised.
This is common sense but my suggestions can't be taken seriously since my only forte is in masturbationn. Thank you OP for the correction. |
Romance › Re: Why Are So Many Decent People Single Nowadays? by writeprof(m): 10:19pm On May 30, 2021 |
Eriokanmi: Yea. Then, people nowadays have set a seemingly unachievable standard for themselves in view of what's obtainable in the present day world. Hardly would you see a man who would want to marry in a single room. Hardly would you also see a lady who would marry a guy who's struggling or managing in one room with shared toilets...whereas the billionaires and successful men and women of today started their lives this way after marriage. Some even married and managed in a friend's house before being buoyant enough to rent an apartment.
No jobs yet, those managing small salary job believe they can't survive with that, as if they created themselves in this world. They've forgotten the fact that God is always there to turn things around. I've referred to my case in various instances here in the past. I married in a room apartment with a leaked roof. Our kitchen was located outside the house . Today, all I can say is, thank God because there's nothing my peer can lay hands on, globally that I can't afford, except private jets but when the time is ripe and God says I'd acquire one, it will happen.
Youths of nowadays can't start from little...both male and female alike and that's why some of them take to fraud, rituals which many call yahoo plus. If you ask them whyare theyinto such illicit acts, they'd tell you there's no job but if you ask whether they could take up a 50k job, na insult you dey find. I started with 11k salary nearly 2 decades ago. My wife earned almost same amount and we saved and rented the one room apartment after which we got married. I've dined with pres Obama and other prominent figures globally. I remember a day I visited my friend who was a driver in Naira Pool, a pool company off Allen. The owner was very rich. I once heard his son say, he would never settle for anything less than 100k minimum as a fresh graduate as of that time. I just graduated as well. 100k that time is like 400k now. The last time I saw him, he was operating a small laundry outfit in Allen avenue. Things dabaru after their father died. You don't have to keep up with the jonesis in life. Make do with what you have and all will be alright. Our marriage was low-key and we've achieved far more than what those whom I knew growing up, who had expensive wedding published in ovation. I wonder why Africans don't copy the oyinbos we always copy them wrongly and in the end , we find ourselves in a mess. Thank you OP. This is insightful |

Career › Re: From N10,000 Salary To Millionaire Pay: My Grace Filled Career Journey So Far. by writeprof(m): 7:40pm On May 24, 2021 |
Godsownchild199: Hi Everyone, I’m 26 years old and I want to share my little story with you all. I hope you can learn a thing or two from it. This is not my main account, I had to create a new account in view of my decision to share my story on this platform. I’ve been a Nairalander since 2012 and I inhave benefitted from the amazing academic and career insights shared by many. So, I thought it kind to share mine to help others in this amazing community.
I graduated from the University (if I reveal this, my colleagues who are avid Nairalanders would identify me ) some 4-5 years ago with a second class upper, then proceeded to the Nigerian Law School (still made 2:1) and served in Rivers State. I did my NYSC in a reputable law firm (name withheld) in Port Harcourt. It was quite an experience both good and bad. I left the firm after service year out of frustration due to the poor leadership and mismanagement of funds by the head of office (the guy has since been fired). Mind you, my salary as a corper was 10k (the average NYSC legal associate in Lagos earned at least 5 -7 times this amount). I had depression at this point in my life.
After my unpleasant experience at the Port Harcourt firm and months of depression coupled with deep thinking and reflection, I decided to relocate to Lagos in January 2020 hoping to find a change in perspective. Mind you, I’m not from a poor background, my parents are both highly educated and middle-class workers residing in the South. Part of my resolve in relocating to Lagos was that I wouldn’t practice law again, I’ll probably go into technology, banking, or corporate communications (I speak eloquently).
After my relocation, I teamed up with a friend to work at a technology startup somewhere on the Island but this newfound path didn’t go as planned (I call this divine providence) and I was back to sitting at home. I did a few speaking jobs (volunteering) and some petty legal jobs for my friends and family to get by. At this same time, I was aggressively applying for both legal and non-legal jobs. This decision came on the background of my Dad’s advice that I should dust my CV/Certificates, search for a job and revive my already dwindling legal career. My Dad’s attempt to connect me to a senior partner at a hotshot law firm in Victoria Island failed and I basically had to do it my way.
Fast-forward to mid-February 2020 I had three interviews in three law firms within a space of two weeks. These firms ranged from mid-sized to small-sized. I attended all the interviews, the first interview was in a small law firm managed by a Senior Advocate. The SAN immediately liked my personality and offered to instantly hire me on a monthly pay of 100k (below industry standard). The other two law firms had slightly better remuneration, great structure and were bigger in size and outlook but their recruitment process was lengthy and I had to start immediately with the SAN on my Dad’s advice. I grudgingly stayed with the small firm hoping that I’ll get an offer from either of the two mid-sized firms and then port. Unfortunately, COVID happened and one of the firms discontinued my recruitment process while the other firm out rightly rejected me. I was deeply heartbroken. In order to keep my spirit and dreams alive, my Dad kept drumming into my ears that a smaller firm meant more work and a better learning experience. He kept reiterating the need to “know” the law and stop chasing money (what all senior lawyers say ). So, I was basically stuck with this 100k job, trust me at first the environment was deadening and monotonous (reading law reports and writing legal opinions every day isn’t fun at all ). I felt like ditching my Old man’s advice and resigning during this period but due to COVID, I had to borrow commonsense and stay back. Little did I know that staying back was the best decision I would ever make to date, all thanks to God, my Dad and COVID.
While 100k may sound fair to most people, kindly note that some of my colleagues (with the same academic grades as mine) in top firms earned a monthly average of 250k or more. This awareness made me very discontent and unhappy but I still hung on to my job (a bird in hand is worth more than two in the bush) besides, who quits his or her job in the midst of a COVID induced global economic crises.
Then in October 2020, everything changed! My boss got this very big personal legal project, it was really big and my boss asked me to come on board the project team. I was then paid the sum of N2.5Million for my participation and input in the project. Later on, another personal project came through, although little. I did not even do much this time and my boss gifted me 500 Pounds from the project. All of this financial largess is outside my boss’ magnanimity in other areas like superb mentoring, paying for my professional certifications, and giving me advice (my boss can advise for Africa ), etc. Mind you, no matter how much I’m gifted or paid from the personal projects handled by my boss, my salary is still fully paid and as at when due. All these legal projects are reflected in my CV and have greatly boosted my career prospect. These projects have also helped me to build an impressive Linkedin profile and I’m currently very active in that space.
Recently, I got involved in another personal legal project with my boss and was paid N2 Million from the project fees. Sometimes, I look back at the events of my life and ask myself how I got to this pivotal point. If I hadn’t listened to my Dad’s advice and sought God’s face, I don’t think I would enjoy this type of privilege. I remember asking God for a multinational job but here I was, stuck with a 100k job completely unaware that God put a multinational remuneration in a small office with barely 8 employees. I’ve only worked for a year and 3 months but I’ve achieved what some people haven’t achieved in 3-5 years (career-wise and financially). Please don’t reject certain little offers that come your way, pray to God and seek advice where possible. Some blessings come in disguises and you may never know. This is my little grace-filled career story; I hope it inspires someone today. I want to thank God Almighty for his grace in my career and my lovely parents for their advice and tremendous support.
PS: I have abridged my story to hide certain facts and information for my personal safety and that of my office and boss. My story may sound too good to be true but believe me, it is absolutely true. Quite inspiring! My Bible says to him that is joined to the living, there is hope. Your father did well. You did well also to listen to him. I hope many young people learn from this story. More grace and promotions to you OP |

Cpossibility: What a friend did to me last week.
Just like in my case, so many graduates in the country are today, traumatized, depressed or even suicidal. Nothing is more depressing than seeing oneself jobless after several years of graduation. More annoying is when there's no finance to even start a business no matter how brilliant the business idea could be. If I have capital or even a collateral to use and get some money somewhere, I would rest completely from job hunting.
My ordeal. Few months ago, I stumbled on a friend on Facebook whom we were school mates back in secondary school. His parents resided outside the state which he normally came back on school resumption and would go back during holidays.
On meeting him on Facebook, taking a look at his pictures, he's obviously doing well and claimed he's working with an international NGO. I told him my pains which is unemployment. Immediately, he was happy and telling me not to worry again that with his connections here and there, I'll get a job. His promise was to fix me either in the NGO, an insurance company, factory work or any other place of which he has links and connections.
We talked extensively and negotiated my movement and arrived I should come over last week. The plans was to stay in his 2 bedroom apartment and until 3-4 months when I can rent my own place. So I moved from Rivers state to Lagos Monday last week with just 16k on me. En route Lagos, we were keeping in touch so to know how closer I am and until I got to Lagos (God is Good Motors park) around 8pm. I called him that I have arrived the park and he said he was coming to pick me.
Long story short, that was the last time his number went. Initially, I thought it was network, or may be temporary low battery. I kept dialling the number through out the night but it never went again. Of course I had no choice than to sleep in the park. Woke up the next morning hoping his number would go but still same. I had no body else in Lagos nor knowing any where as that was my first time in Lagos. So I was just roaming around the park the whole day like a lost sheep, hungry, frustrating and pains but still hoping for his call but none came. When I tried reaching via Facebook and realized I was blocked, that was when it dawned on me that I have to start going back immediately. Already, transport fare from PH to Lagos finished about N10,500. So I was left with about 4k on me. At that point in the evening, I knew my best bet as I said earlier was to find my way back immediately but I didn't even have enough cash for my return. I had no option than to start telling people about my predicament and appealed for help to raise fund to return home the next morning. I was mocked and laughed at while some were asking to buy my phone at a very ridiculous amount. But then at that point, I could have sold it at the ridiculous amount but the phone was the only medium of communication with people especially my mum who was already worried over the journey right from the onset. I kept approaching people to help me and until one man graciously completed the money for me and I paid for my return.
On reaching home, I did nothing than thanking God that at least my case wasn't like that of late Iniobong Umoren. At least I came back home alive...which is the most important thing. But what I don't understand is why the guy chose to be that wicked to me forgetting this world is a very small place. I mean if there was never a job, why did he have to put me through that? Anyways, I have since moved on. Not even swearing/cursing him but leave everything for God. Such is life!
Fellow nairalanders, that is the dairy of a Nigerian job seeker. This leave me with the question, "will Nigeria ever be good for ordinary Nigerian?" Thank God for your life. Start a business of selling food. With less than 20k start frying Akara, making Pap and selling bread. Just identify a busy area where commercial riders and people are. Let's stop waiting for white collar jobs. Many companies are not paying salaries today. Cheers |

When death comes knocking Even the most powerful must bow You and others died in active service What a way to exit with imprints in our books Imprints written in pens of gold and points of silver.
You all left with amazing goodwills Nigeria thanks you for your service Now that you've tendered your last salutes To all that died in that aircraft We hereby accept your last salute. Goodnight.
