Myer: Well the issue here is simple. The end times has been preached since the days of the early disciples. Yet the world did not end, rather it's different t generations that ended.
So basing your gospel kn end of the world and hell fire only makes righteousness sound delinquent and lacking of any spiritual substance.
We all know of such pastors that inculcated such fears into us as children and even preached that o judgment day everyone will line up and God will play all your sins on TV for the whole world to see.
I'm sure even you cant preach such to your kids in this day and age. I preach both to my children. How? The father who loves his children would not spare the rod and spoil the child when the child exercises his free will in disobedience to instructions. The child knows that the Daddy who caned him minutes ago showed him that side of his out of love. The story of the Prodigal Son is one of my favourite...he experienced hell after his wasteful lifestyle...this is synonymous to telling someone about hell- consequences of one's wrong actions JESUS never shied away from talking about the weeping and gnashing of teeth in hell as he also demonstrated God's love and plan for repentant sinners. BOTH GO HAND IN HAND SIR! A Church that does only ONE aspect is deceiving its followers. There is a HEAVEN to strive for and a HELL not to stroll to. God bless you. |

Aburada: The fact that people vote Bubu ahead of this man in 2019 surprises me till date. How can you not vote an educated, smart and eloquent man and prefer a dullard who knows nothing about the economy.
The funny thing is that these are the set of people who believes all politicians are thieves. Like when you have a chance to vote between 2 thieves are you not suppose to vote a better between the 2
What suprises me most is the result of votes that came from Benue state, despite the fact that herdsmen almost finished them. Buhari was still dragging votes with Atiku.
That's why till date any killing news that comes from the state and the North in general don't move me as long that it does not extend to the south Bro, forget about the results posted as peoples' vote in the country. You may need to get close to those who work for these politicians to know that there is another mathematics to the voting and winning paradigm. Don't use those numbers to judge anybody. Even Nigerian politicians know it's not Nigerians' votes that put them there...by their actions |

As possible as this may be, Nigeria needs to be restructured into 6 regions with their autonomous constitutions and a federal (national) constitution. The use of these 7 independence constitutions is the only possible way to achieve a truly one united nation of Nigeria built on equity and justice. |

DubaiLandLord1: Such a thing is not possible. Nigeria is not a migrant country like the USA, Australia, Argentina etc
Even in Europe, people no dey use their culture play. That's why Catalunya wants to leave Spain, Scotland wants to leave the UK, UK lead by England left the EU, Irish left the UK etc.
If People are still shouting for freedom in a develop Country like Spain, so forget all this talk of Yorubas, Hausa, Efik, Ijaw, Kanuris etc seeing themselves as one.
Only practising a true federalism(not this unitary system of government we are operating) go help this country survive as one.
If nah this same system whereby a president will be forcing his will on everybody, like GMB is doing on the herdsmen issue, and the 3%-30% sharing formula etc... Is just going to be a matter of time, Nigeria might not last for long.
We need to run Nigeria the way the USA is run or we can go the UK way.
Over concentration of power in the central is one of the reason that lead to the collapse of the Soviet Union, Nigeria might not last as long as the USSR before it collapse. |

Best speech ever.... Blunt and straight forward
20 years ago, US sent Americans to Afghanistan for their own protection, thousands of Americans died, thousands more physical wounded, hundreds of thousands mentally traumatized, 1 trillion wasted in war expenses without any significant results or benefits to American taxpayers or Christian world
Joe Biden made it crystal clear, 20 years ago some American parents might have been sent to a pointless American mission in Afghanistan, in 2021 he is not willing to send more of the war veterans kids again to witness pointless war their parents witnessed
If you wish to join the Fight as a righteous Christian to defend Afghan Shi'ite, Sunni Muslim or orthodox Catholic, take a flight to Kabul
Joe Biden as a Father watched his son fight as a US Army Major from 2002 to 2015 in the Middle east till he died... That's personal sacrifice of a father

blessedemeritus: Hello Nairalanders, Having read many comments, and response to persons who share their story here on Nairaland and received several advice and positive opinions, I now have the courage and confidence to divulge on you for your guidance and recommendations.
Am a Law student in one of the state University, currently in my sophomore year, I'm in state dilemma as to what step to take next in life, because of my present situation in life, I'm the first child in the family of 4 and taking responsibility of my younger ones'. Because of the burden and responsibilities on me, my school fees, my needs and that of my kid ones' considering how things are tough for me, i think it will be difficult for me to continue my studies at this time. I'm considering dropping out of school to huzzle or learn handwork to meet my kid ones' need and make life easy for us, because things are really difficult for us now. But will appreciate your candid advice on what to do, drop out to learn handwork? Which handwork will you suggest for me? YOUR OPINIONS, ADVISE, RECOMMENDATION SUGGESTIONS, will be appreciated. NO INSULT PLEASE.
Current CGPA 4.70 My candid advice: Don't drop out of school for any reason whatsoever, look for a source of income that would allow you continue your schooling such as security job, driving keke or okada, buying and selling etc. The younger ones you're worried about should get something doing also. IT IS VERY DANGEROUS AND RISKY TO PUT YOUR DESTINY ON THE LINE FOR ANYBODY. Let everyone go and hustle. Shalom |

No matter how we continue to talk about this equality, we can't do the lots men do. Although, some of us are very brave and illustrious, this doesn't still equate us to be same level with men. There's no need talking about unproductivity of some of his employees. I believe also this unproductivity led to them being counselled out of the job.

KingOdart: 5 Young Nigerians Make List of Most Brilliant Black Students in UK, One of Them Attended UNN
Rising Stars, an annual publication, that picks out top students in the UK has come up with a list of top 10 brilliant black students in the UK.
Out of the pack, there are five Nigerians on the list. These are people whose years of academic records really speak for themselves.
In this report, Legit.ng will be looking at these five Nigerians and what they have done.
1. Folu Oguneye When she was in Cambridge, Folu was a mentor to other students who wanted to come into the university.
Despite the financial burden her family was facing, she was able to balance work with schooling.
At A-level, the lady was able to get multiple distinctions, a feat that saw her getting a place at the University of Cambridge. She is now the CEO of Vamos Careers with a team of six.
2. Hope Oloye Hope was a precocious child. At the age of 13, she attended a lecture on neuroscience at the University College London.
That lecture made her fall in love with neuroscience and no wonder that was what she would study later at the University of Oxford.
She was among 300 people selected for the much-coveted fully funded Junior Research Fellowship at New York University.
3. Khadija Owusu grew up in the UK. In March 2012, she was invited to the White House by the then-American first lady, Michelle Obama for the exceptional essay she had written about her mother.
When she was in her third year at the University of London, she co-founded a charity called Melanin Medics.
The aim of the organisation was to give more voice to black and Caribbean students in the medical profession. The organisation later got £20,000 (N11,382,088.17) from the British Medical Association.
4. Nwangele Godwin (Emeka) Chukwuemeka Emeka who was born in Jos did his first degree at the University of Nigerian Nsukka (UNN) where he later finished as the best graduating student.
After series of achievements, he became a Rhodes scholar and went ahead to study for his masters in energy systems at the University of Oxford.
He has together with Enugu State Scholarship Board created Coal City Fellowship.
5. Segun Afolaranmi The young man grew up in Lagos. His parents are petty traders. Segun is not only good with books, but he is also an amazing public speaker.
After secondary school, he took his A-Level in biology, physics, and chemistry where he had straight As and got admission into the University of Ibadan.
During his graduation from school, he got over 30 awards for his excellence. He is the co-founder of a youth-based organisation called The Ganglion Initiative. He later got a Clarendon scholarship for his masters at the University of Oxford.

Family › Re: Most Touching Experience I've Had In A While. by writeprof(m): 12:49am On Aug 14, 2021 |
SeaTrade: Have been very busy all through today trying to fix some things,
So after all that ,decided to go to coldstone to grab some ice cream to calm my head. Seated inside, wasn't so pleased while I was having it because I saw a lot of things I don't like.
1) Parents pampering unruly children. If you carry that behaviour come close to me I will give you a stern warning infront of your parents regardless the outcome.
2) Treating maids like subhumans. Nigerians are very fond of this, like it's so easy to spot the maid amongst them because usually they cloth them in rags, their hair always turn to baobab tree under their watch whereas their kids always look fly and fresh, they are being talked to so rudely and with so much authority whereas their kids who might probably amount to nothing in life are always spoon-fed and get the best treatments, seated at different tables even though they came together, atleast the one I see today them try buy am ice cream sha
Anyways, got uncomfortable with the whole environment and left.
Got to my car,a kid (10-12yrs)approached me and asked me for food money or something ,didn't respond as I usually never do cos I really don't like begging ,but then as I was about to leave ,I asked the boy why he doesn't get a small job instead rather than beg? His response shocked me till now. He told me if I could buy him a box of pure water to sell, that I will not see him there again begging.
Was dumbfounded as I didn't expect that kind of a response from him considering his age and also I thought he was one of those career beggars.
I wanted to give him cash but didn’t have any,I told him I will come back, and left. Now I wanted to go and withdraw and give him cash but on a second thought, I said why don't I go and get him those wares instead rather than hand him cash?Atleast he will have to work to sell them off to generate cash from it ,which will teach him some principles of money atleast.
Went to the closest store, bought Ten 12bottles/pack bottled water ,load up and head back there.
Looked for him a bit around and later found him sitting helplessly, hopelessly, aimlessly on a culvert looking very frustrated mehn, probably thought I won't come back. That thought still never commot from my head like this. Anyways, handed them over to him, advised and encouraged him a little, asked how he was gonna refrigerate them?
He said there are some abokis in his street that can do that for him and he will pay them small money. Asked how he was gonna sell?He said he will take them to pleasure park tomorrow to sell. Was impressed at his sharpness tbh..he had answers to all I was asking even though he was shivering a bit cos he was intimidated or something.
Wished him well, help carry them close to the road, before I could turn to head home ,he had already moved them to the median of the road and I think I saw him counting the bottles or so ,couldn't figure as I passed fast, Reached a turn, turned again to go add his inventory but dude was already gone.Damn! Anyways make we dey see...just make we dey see.
I think Nigerian Parents, the church and religion are the reason why children are still experiencing this kind of suffering at this point in humanity.
Felt really bad today mehn, really bad. It's to be selecting the ones that want to hustle from them and help and leave the career beggars alone .
Children only,no old person. Good steps you took. However, I need more clarification on your position about the Church and religion being responsible. I'm here to learn. |
