Gerald Levert... (Born: July 13, 1966 – November 10, 2006).
Gerald created great songs since the 1980s!
I miss his soulful songs... creative lyrical genius!

Gerald Edward Levert was an American singer–songwriter, producer and actor. Levert is best known for singing with his brother, Sean Levert, and friend Marc Gordon of the vocal
group LeVert. Levert was also a member of LSG, a supergroup comprising Keith Sweat, Johnny Gill, and himself. Levert is the son of Eddie Levert, who is the lead singer of the
R&B/Soul vocal group The O'Jays.

At the bolded, I wonder why your brothers don't get this grin grin. It's the same shyt you see with black men with low self esteem, once they get a white woman to open her legs for him, they start bashing black females and society at large grin. But when you take a closer look most of these women are out of shape (image is very important to the white men),old ,and if they are good looking and young , chances are she has different baby daddies or a string of failed marriages or she is or was a call girl grin. 99. 9% one or more of the characteristics I mentioned are the reasons she " prefers" black men grin. Women always go for the best of their own men as a first choice, the second will be the average and good among them then if there is someone from another group who is financially buoyant, he becomes the third choice. I've never met women who prefer strangers over their own kind , this only happens in the brains of Nigerian men grin grin

“Preparations are in top gear for the commencement of production in Dangote Refinery, as the petrochemical company has received the fourth crude shipment of, one million barrels of bonny light crude supplied by the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPCL), and expecting the fifth crude shipment, anytime from now.

A whopping annual revenue of $27 billion!! And 20% of this company belongs to FG.

The shares of this company stock will be listed on Nigeria Stock Exchange so that an average Nigerian can have a piece of the company.

This is a huge milestone and I am very proud of everyone who made this possible. What seemed important in the eyes of the unpatriotic naysayers became a reality and they are still in shock at the audacity of hope that this huge project will become a reality.

Congrats to the vision bearer, Alhaji Aliko Dangote, GCON, President Buhari, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and other patriotic Nigerians.

They set aside 483000 bpd of crude supply for him and other refineries monthly but with our oil production currently around 1.4 million bpd, that's a tough one. Out of the 1.4 million bod, some are tied to forward sales contracts. So we may only have 800,000 bpd for export and FX. If we give local refineries 483000 bpd as touted by NNPC, that would mean we have very little for crude oil exports and FX.
True that.

The fact remains that Tinubu is using Alpha Beta to milk the entire common wealth of Lagosians for personal gains
Apara did accused Tinubu of so many things including fraud and also diverting government asset to himself

Below is a link to it, read it up and stop spreading lies, falsehood and propaganda

The so called apology by Apara was an afterthought, an out of court settlement because Tinubu realized that Apara knew so much and could jeopardize his election plan
Just to be very clear here, I insist... Below is Oladapo Apara (a Nigerian chartered accountant and former MD of Alpha-Beta Consulting) endorsing now President Bola Adekunle Ahmed Tinubu for the Presidency in January 2023 based on an original article in ThisDay newspaper and republished in TheCable:

=>https://www.thecable.ng/hes-the-best-alpha-beta-ex-md-who-accused-tinubu-of-fraud-endorses-him

=>https://www.nairaland.com/7539330/oladapo-apara-endorses-tinubu-after#120342184

I gave you the NL thread Weblink above that was created by @Naptu2 to read [where Dapo Apara in January 2023 officially campaigned for Tinubu] and you have the audacity to say it was an "afterthought" because of your BIGOTRY and HATRED for Tinubu. That is pure act of defamation of character and spread of FALSE INFO on your part as of 2024, and a CLEAR violation of NL rules!

I've been a veteran member of this forum since 2005 with an older moniker still existing (19 years now), (Naptu2 is also a credible NL veteran here) and you are saying in your insidious post that we are not telling the truth and spreading propaganda? That's very UNWISE of you!

You are the one clearly misinforming readers and spreading propaganda here, and you MUST desist from repeating the old falsehoods from 2020 online articles, when as of January 2023, Dapo Apara had CLEARLY admitted that Bola Tinubu was innocent and begged him for forgiveness!

It's an open secret that there was indeed an out-of-court settlement in 2022 because ORIGINALLY Dapo wanted his 30% SHARE PROFITS of the business [Oladapo Apara, was a founder of Alpha-Beta Consulting LLP] after Alpha-Beta management had issues with him but that was rejected by the management. After being sacked in 2018, Dapo then started spreading wrong info in 2020 about Alpha-Beta and Tinubu. The FACT that Dapo came out publicly to apologize and campaigned for Tinubu by saying "He's the best for the job of Nigerian Presidency" based on his conscience shows that he wasn't telling the TRUTH originally. I don't have the time for this kinds of back-and-forth convos and I will stop here.

Nairaland is a 2 billion naira worth at the minimum of venture if seun decide to take it seriously

Seun still runs this as a side of side project from his "cubicle" in sango-ota .

Knowing Seun to be an introvert who doesn't like the spot light or want to be popular just as myself, if I were him

I will

Run Nairaland as a business' by

1. Opening a physical office space in Lagos, Abuja, Sango-ota as HQ

2. Employ a CEO to run it while I continue to serve as founder and CTO

3. Employ a full team of enginneers, UX front end designers, marketers

Manage

1. Front page should be very current with update as it happens, ( I see a news/even on instablog and see it days after on the frontpage), alot of people only visit the front page, so it must be regularly updated and of high quality

2. limit posting to some section for new accounts, like have some way you rank accounts, new account should have a 3 month sandbox restriction.

3. make it impossible to register multiple account from thesame device,

4. Use text verification and real email ( no temp mails) for registration

5. Moderation : Each section should have atleast 2 mod and very active section 3 with 1 supermod.

6. Tribalism and hate speech should attract ban, device ban, email ban if possible an IP ban after two warnings

Buid

Implement new feature,

One of the allure of Nairaland is it simplistic UI and fast loading time

That doesn't need to change but it can be better,

1. Add Night mode, this will switch the background to black which is easy on the eyes at night, users can toggle on off

2. Add a bit of self moderation by adding a dislike button (when a comment has so many disikes, a moderator manually access if it should be hidden, users can still view the comment if clicked

3. An email system should be designed, communication stays on nairaland instead of third part email (all nairaland user get a user@nairaland.com email after 6 months of active usage provided the haven't been banned more than thrice,.

4. Build a robust ad management system, from creation, funding , moderation,

5.make it easy to share, the share button can be linked to whatsapp, fb, tiktok, IG, so when someone click on share they can also share outside the platform
a short url like naira.land will also make sharing easy

6. native ios/app with great push feature

mabe more later if I think of more
+1... I'm on the same page with you here.
The simple green-colored monochrome background with black texts, and blue weblinks are part of the subliminal factors that have kept me on NL since March 2005. There's NO going back.

He added, “Lagos was not easy for many of you, but you went through it and today, Lagos State is the most viable state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

Many of today's Yoruba-haters and their Yoruba-hating parents who now see and covet Lagos today were nowhere when our state and the whole of Yorubaland was under seige and vicious selective punishment by successive Federal Military Government because our illustrious son, Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, GCFR, won a credible and fair Presidential election.

They were still in their primitive villages envying and hating the highly sophisticated and organized Yoruba when our state was sabotaged and brought to its knees, filled with filth, bomb blasts, our Yoruba leaders being assassinated on our Lagos streets and in their homes in Ibadan, Abeokuta etc, idi-araba OPC wars successive Lagos military administrators could not solve but Tinubu solved , our Lagos central business district with eye-popping skyscrappers made a ghost town by a vindictive FG throughout the 90s revived with massive infrastructure renewal, abandoned FG Bar beach with its coastal erosion taking over Victoria Island and chased businesses out of VI until Tinubu took it from FG to fix it and birthed the vision of today's iconic Eko Atlantic city, every June 12 anniversary, they mocked us for marking the day while many of them and their parents, especially the Igbo, flee Lagos to their villages never to return until we rebuilt our city. https://m.facebook.com/OnuIgbo/photos/a.169328666819123/1490688431349800/?type=3

They were not trooping to Lagos then. They didn't remember then that Lagos should be a collective Federal responsibility but abandoned our Lagos for us. Now they want to reap after we have rebuilt our city.

Even our universities were not spared then! University of Lagos ULSU under Olusegun Maiyegun , Omoyele Sowore and their University of Lagos Students Union (ULSU) aluta Comrades and successors were hounded and all SW universities that are still today's ivy league universities of Nigeria and Africa like University of Lagos(UNILAG) ,University of Ibadan(UI) and Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU) were starved of funds by FG with armoured tanks and fierce gun-totting soldiers permanently stationed at our universities gates because our brilliant Yoruba students and intelligentsia including the likes of Nobel Laureate, Prof Wole Soyinka then overseas were actively supporting the June 12 struggles and powering the pirate radio station. Bayo Onanuga and his warriors doing guerilla journalism with Tempo Magazine, TheNews, Tell etc. Late Ibadan-based muslim cleric, Ewi exponent and human right activist Adepoju dishing out Yoruba ronu protest messages.

They abandoned us and even moved the capital to Abuja and abandoned huge liabilities of dilapidated decaying infrastructures behind. We suffered while they mocked us. Out of all the ruins, we remained unbowed, hungry for success to defend our rich history and led by Asiwaju Tinubu to build back our city and Yorubaland. We built our own deep seaport, Lagos free trade zone, roads, bridges, railways, multi-modal transport systems, teaching hospital, waste management system , security architecture, brought Nigeria's 1st GSM telco, Econet, to Nigeria, upgraded to a knowledge-based performance-driven efficient professional civil service etc and we are grateful to God and everyone. We are grateful to our parents and Yoruba leaders who toiled and suffered to defend our educational system and progressive Omoluabi culture in Yorubaland and sent us to the top schools.

We are grateful for the blessing of having a great, competent, brilliant, visionary and hardworking leader in Asiwaju Tinubu. We will never forget other Nigerians like Chief Frank Kokori of NUPENG, Bagauda Kalto, Chima Ubani, Rear Admiral Ndubuisi Kanu, Dr. Bala Usman , Nosa Igiebor and others who were part of the June 12 struggle led by Late Chief MKO Abiola, GCFR.

Thank you Asiwaju Tinubu. God bless you sir.

Lagos still working with Tinubu’s 20-year blueprint – Sanwo-Olu
28th December 2023

By Samuel Bolaji

The Lagos State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Wednesday, praised President Bola Tinubu for creating “the origin of modern Lagos,” adding that to date, the state is still running on the developmental ‘blueprint’ that Tinubu designed about 20 years ago.

Sanwo-Olu, who made the declaration when he played host to the President at the Lagos House, Marina, on Wednesday, also thanked Tinubu for accepting to represent Lagos at the federal level.

“We want to thank you for your leadership. We want to thank you for the origin of modern Lagos that you created and started for us. But more importantly, we want to thank you that you accepted to go (and) represent Lagos at the federal level.

“I want to thank you because indeed you have continued to do this state proud as an indigene, as a son of the state.”

While appreciating the President for providing leadership for the State Executive Council, the governor stressed that his administration was building on the legacy established by Tinubu.

He said, “Let me thank you on behalf of the 43 members of the State Executive Council for shaping us, for working with us, for directing us, and for always ensuring that that legacy, that blueprint that you worked on, that I was privileged to have worked on with you over 20 years ago, that is still a living document that we’re working with. It’s still a life document that will continue to ventilate and speak to and realise the yearnings of Lagosians.

“Just to mention, early this month, one of your setups at that time, LAMATA, was 20 years old on the 5th of December. This was a creation of yours 20 years ago.

“LAMATA has moved beyond just being a Lagos story. It has moved beyond an African story. LAMATA is a worldwide story. LAMATA is now referenced as one of the foremost transportation, and urban transportation infrastructures in the world.”

“I want to thank you for your leadership because we still have the working document that you have bequeathed to us,” he added.

In his response, Tinubu thanked the governor and his deputy, Dr Obafemi Hamzat, “for holding the fort strongly and committing yourself to the value that you cherish together.”

He added, “Lagos was not easy for many of you, but you went through it and today, Lagos State is the most viable state in the Federal Republic of Nigeria.”

A Russian frigate carrying 'unstoppable' Mach 9 nuclear-capable hypersonic cruise missiles has deviated from its course and is sailing towards the US coast, reports have claimed.

The Admiral Gorshkov, armed with Zircon missiles which Vladimir Putin boasts has 'no equivalent in the world', is being closely monitored by NATO navies during its maiden voyage.

Earlier this month, the frigate was escorted through British waters by the Royal Navy, and French and Spanish ships then escorted it through the Atlantic.

Monitoring sites claim it took a sudden diversion and headed west towards Bermuda.

It was scheduled to head south past South Africa to the Indian Ocean then enter the Mediterranean Sea through the Suez Canal.

But monitoring sites claim it took a sudden diversion and headed west towards Bermuda.

An unconfirmed Russian Telegram channel report says the warship was 'spotted on radar in neutral waters of the Atlantic Ocean - at an effective salvo launch distance from the US coast'.

The Russian defence ministry has not commented on the Navodka channel claim.

Pictured: Launch of an 'unstoppable' Zircon nuclear-capable hypersonic missile from the Admiral Gorshkov.

Radar monitoring sites suggest the Gorshkov separated from its tailing tanker ship Kama in the Bay of Biscay and headed west.

The Kama has continued its routing to the south, passing the Azores.

The frigate carrying the Mach 9 missiles had been tracked 807 miles west of the Portuguese island of Flores in the Azores, suggested ItaMilRadar.

If so, at this distance it would not at this point be in range of the US for its deadly Zircons.

The frigate is also carrying Kalibr missiles, a type used in Russia's aggression in Ukraine.

Pictured: The Russian frigate 'Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union Gorshkov' armed with Zircon hypersonic weapons leaves the naval base in Severomorsk, January 4, 2023.

Putin personally took part - remotely - in the farewell ceremony when the warship departed from Arctic naval base Severomorsk on 4 January.

He made clear this mission was intended as a show of strength to the West.

He boasted that NATO could not match his 'latest-generation' hypersonic firepower.

He said: 'I am sure that such a powerful weapon will allow us to reliably protect Russia from potential external threats and help ensure our country's national interests.'

The cutting-edge frigate Gorshkov is due to sail to the Indian Ocean and Mediterranean on this mission.

Next month it will take part in exercises with the Chinese and South African navies near the ports of Durban and Richards Bay.

It is not clear why the frigate would head towards the US.

https://i.dailymail.co.uk/1s/2023/01/12/16/54733059-11628191-image-m-25_1673539811397.jpg

Royal Navy Type 23 frigate HMS Portland monitored the Russian warship and accompanying tanker Kama as they sailed close to the UK.

Earlier the Norwegian navy paid close attention to Putin's hypersonic mission.

Moscow has boasted that the Gorshkov is 'the most dangerous enemy of surface ships in the world's oceans' now it is armed with the new hypersonic missile.

The frigate's captain Igor Krokhmal has said previously: 'No one will see the missile launch or its flight.

'They will only see when the missile hits the target.

'A surface target, a coastal target. I don't think there will be anything to counter this in the next few years.'

You are correct. I am from Anambra and I know what happens. Nevertheless, there are lots of legit business men and hustlers. Living in an extended family setting, where you are not doing well could be very depressing for the man or the young guy. You could see their countenances on certain family issues.
Sometimes, they thread softly to avoid any body yabbing them stylishly. For married ones, the pressure from madam will make the man to lean by force. For families where they cook together and live in the same compound, you just have to contribute, no matter how small to avoid you and your wife being used for side talks.
That's awesome! I didn't even realize you're from Anambra when I responded. I appreciate your forthrightness in confirming the facts that I earlier stated. I'm more of a solution-based person than always complaining about issues in the society.

Do you think that the pressures from the families members can be stopped by the communities through persuasive examples like I earlier stated showing the negative effects of these on Anambra society for example? If people in the villages and town unions get to see the statistics of these crimes, I believe things can change.

Second, indeed I'm aware of legit business people from Anambra such as Coscharis (Cosmas Maduka) whose inspiring story I have read from back in the day and how he made his money by supplying scarce motorcycle parts to the East (and he made a huge profit because there was demand), which he got in the late 1970s from a major Lebanese importer and supplier in Lagos State.

But there are also opaque young guys from Anambra and other states who do NOT have verifiable sources of income but suddenly became millionaires overnight. "Bitcoin Lord" is someone I used to be suspicious of, but he has come clean and shown evidence of how he made his money from crypto investments after he took the EFCC to court and won the case over his detention.

There have been many arrests of criminally-minded Ibo drug barons from Anambra (who were living in Lagos and other states) and they were busted within the last 17 years by the NDLEA and police intelligence teams for manufacturing, exporting, and locally distributing the mentally dangerous methamphetamine (meth or ice) from several poisonous and illegal laboratories located within private residential areas and estates (such as VGC, Satellite Town, Iba New site, Lekki, etc, in Lagos), Asaba, Nnewi, Ozubulu, Obosi, etc, with the aid of their South American drug partners. So, I have been sceptical about quickly believing any stories of so-called young millionaires and Naira billionaires until I get to see some legit evidence of how they made money. The supposedly legit but criminally-minded Obinwanne Okeke (Invictus Obi) and Hushpup come to mind here.

Happy New Year to you.

The drive to bring Dangote Refinery on stream started with the Lagos State Government inviting him to the Lekki Free Trade Zone (set up as a public-private sector partnership by the now President Tinubu). Dangote Refinery was being planned for the oil-rich Ondo State initially but it was moved to Lagos State which already had a better offer in the Lekki Free Trade Zone (LFTZ). So, it was a confluence of major events from those who lent Dangote money to the CBN interventions and much more that made Dangote Refinery possible.

So true, especially in the SE. Not just among siblings but cousins and extended families. The intimidation no be here o from the super rich siblings. The competition and show-offs too much. I pity those struggling in the midst of their wealthy siblings and cousins. To talk or contribute in family gatherings is always difficult. For the married ones, the pressure from their wives increases when the wife sees what Oga's siblings and cousins are doing for their wives and children. May God prosper all men struggling legitimately.
That cultural value system has to change in the South East. I'm certain you are making reference to majorly Anambra State. Even Ibos complain in back-and-forth intra-Ibo thread arguments and convos on NL and elsewhere online about the hubris, overbearing attitude, and cockiness of a lot of Anambra people.

There have been many Ibo kidnappers, bank and interstate highway armed robbers who were arrested by the crack teams of policemen in my over 25 years of relentlessly following crime stories and patterns in the media.

One of the several armed robbery confessions that STRUCK me was that of a less than 30-year-old young interstate armed robber from Anambra State in 2010 who said from where he comes from, if you are NOT yet a millionaire at the age of 30 years, the age group members would make fun of you and look down on you. He said some youths like him from Anambra are going into crime in order to get rich quickly. Another drug trafficker from Anambra who was arrested at MMIA while trying to fly to the Far East of Asia with the heroin on him said his impending marriage made him to engage in drug trafficking for fast money because of the heavy expenses!

It then occured to me that the reason many young Ibos especially from Anambra where going into these crimes of drug barons, meth and heroin drug trafficking, fake drugs production, fake malt drinks, fake wines, money rituals, kidnappings, armed robberies, etc, was due to these SOCIAL pressures and very unhealthy competitions and show-offs from their home villages and age-grade societies in the SE. These pressures to become millionaires by any means necessary have to stop otherwise there's gonna be more killings and trouble ahead. Period.

If you are the poorest amongst your siblings or not doing well financially, avoid family gatherings until you have money - Nigerian lady says

Lolo Nneka Obani Wrote on her Wall:

If you know you are the poorest amongst yoursiblings or you aren't doing well financially, l recommend that you avoid family occasions or gatherings until you have money. If you must attend, kindly sit at a corner like a visitor.
Let the people that are serving the food and souvenir serve you like one of the guests, so you don't end up embarrassing yourself.
Do not go close to where the food and drinks are being served, sit at a corner and observe. Stop setting yourself up for insults.

What happened to lifting one another up in turbulent times or turbulent cycles of life?
It's only a dyfunctional culture or society that would elevate such practices and put older siblings into negative societal pressures.

A dysfunctional family wouldn't experience such even if they have all left their parents' home and started their own families. When you truly love yourself, you would love others and give genuine assistance to them. Period.

President Tinubu's New Year message to Nigerians (Video)
An above average message to sum up 7 months of governance under President Bola Tinubu. Where are the CNG vehicles meant to bring down the massive cost of food delivery from the farms?

Second, what are the plans for expanding agribusiness in the Southern states? In Oyo State (which has the biggest landmass among all the southern states), I saw a documentary years ago on a huge abandoned Ikere Gorge dam in Iseyin being built by the Federal goverment since the 1982! This is a good opportunity for the Tinubu-led Federal government to finish that dam project to ensure that electricity and dry season agriculture will get a boost in Oyo State and the nearby Western states.

Cross River State too has fertile lands where cocoa also thrives just like in Western Nigeria... The landmass in Cross River State is the second largest in the southern states. It's only BIG agricultural projects in the far-North that President Tinubu referenced here in the New Year message.
