TylerDurden: The Kano State Police Command has arrested nine suspects who alleged specialised in inter-state trafficking, abduction, buying and selling of minors.
The state police commissioner, Usaini Gumel, made the disclosure while parading the suspects at the Bompai command’s headquarters on Thursday.
He explained that the suspects were apprehended after conducting several intelligence-led operations through which the long time cycle of inter-state trafficking syndicates hibernating around Kano, Bauchi, Gombe, Lagos, Delta, Anambra and Imo states was identified and dismantled.
According to Gumel, a total of seven victims, who are mostly minors, were rescued from the clutches of the harrowing criminal activities.
“It was through diligent investigations by our dedicated team of officers that the operations of these criminal networks that had been in existence for more than 10 years were identified,” he said.
The commissioner disclosed that some of the rescued children aged between three and eight that were rescued were sold at prices between N300,000 and N600,000 depending on their ages.
“It was found during investigations that a victim Mohammed Ilya who was abducted from Bauchi but his name changed to Chidiebere was sold recently at Nnewi in Anambra State,” Gumel said. He said the command would collaborate with the state government to ensure that all the abducted children were safely returned and reunited with their original family members.
The commissioner assured members of the public that the command under his watch had put in place reinforced security measures to end the menace once and for all.
This is extreme greed on the part of these people who just want to become quick millionaires in the eyes of their ethnic kinsmen and village age-grade associations.
adecz: Kogi is one state that has been in the forefront of fighting kidnappers, though highway kidnapping has become rampant in the same state❗️❗️❗️
Better to travel by air and to a lesser extent by rail to prevent such kidnapping scenarios on Kogi highways from occuring. Imagine being picked up like a tiny SNAIL by these kidnappers until you empty all your bank accounts. Kidnapped females are usually gang-raped by especially those Ibo kidnappers in the South East and the Fulani kidnappers in the North of Nigeria... Not funny at all! The death penalty is what I have always advocated for such heinous crimes.
The Lagos State Government says it has nothing to do with the demolition at Computer Village in Ikeja.
The demolished structure is owned by the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), which ordered its demolition.
The State government in a Press Statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, adds that the story is the figment of the imagination of the peddlers of the Story.
The State Government says those circulating the fake news that Lagos State Government is demolishing Computer Village are opportunistic ethnic chauvinists who will always relish in vacuous propaganda that can fuel their fiendish mission; they will always fail in dividing Lagosians.
The man talking in the video has to be immediately tracked down and brought to justice for spreading fake news. It is fully verified that the demolished POWA Complex indeed belongs to the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA) and not the Lagos State Government. The demolition is strictly a POWA affair in order to modernize the place. Due notice was given to them to leave that complex before demolitions commenced.
This is one of many fake videos and posts by Ibos online for years now to incite hate and unrest among gullible people. Those who are very wise will NOT fall for this.
North Korean leader Kim Jong Un wrapped the year with fresh threats of a nuclear attack on Seoul and orders for a military arsenal build-up to prepare for a war that can “break out at any time” on the peninsula, state media reported Sunday.
Kim lambasted the United States during a lengthy speech at the end of five days of year-end party meetings that set his country’s military, political, and economic policy decisions for 2024.
The meeting announced plans for further military development in the coming year, including launching three more spy satellites, building unmanned drones and developing electronic warfare capabilities, as well as strengthening nuclear and missile forces, according to the official Korean Central News Agency (KCNA).
After studying the daily habits of 177 self-made millionaires over the course of five years, Thomas C. Corley found that they avoid one costly habit: procrastination.
"It prevents even the most talented individuals from realizing success in life," he writes in his upcoming book, "Change Your Habits, Change Your Life."
This goes hand-in-hand with author Napoleon Hill's assertion that the wealthiest people are also the most decisive people.
Out of the 500 millionaires Hill studied in the early 20th century, "Every one of them had the habit of reaching decisions promptly," Hill wrote in his 1937 classic, "Think and Grow Rich."
One of the major causes of procrastination is lack of passion, Corley emphasizes: "We simply like to do the things we like to do and we put off the things we do not like to do."
If passion and massive wealth are linked, it's not surprising that very few of us lack passion when it comes to our careers: "According to Gallup, only 13% of employees are 'engaged' in their jobs, or emotionally invested in their work," Corley writes.
LordGuru1: As wonderful as this your comment would have being, your desire for Yoruba Land(Igbos are already determined not to be enslaved) to still be Nutritionally Enslaved to the North even with your Tinubu as President shows that your IQ is way below average. Cow, Beans, Legumes, etc. Yoruba And is far more fertile for both Animal Production and Crop Production than any other part of Nigeria and Awolowo proved it.
All that Yoruba Youths needs to massively be demanding from President Tinubu at this Point is that he should massively pump Billions into starting Mechanized Agricultural Farms and Farm Settlements that should be leased to them so that those that seriously work and Profit are later allowed to forever own the landed Properties. This would make the Yourba Youths know that you don't need YahooYahoo to become a Millionaire. The President should also do what Awolowo did by Providing means of Processing, Transportating and Exporting the Farm Produce into International Market. This was how Awolowo Encouraged Yoruba Land to become the Richest Part of Nigeria and generated the Money with which Cocoa House and all the Industrial and 1at Ever in Africa Infrastructural Developments were achieved by the Yorubas. The Enemies of Yoruba Land soon quickly Forcefully merged Yoruba Land with other Parts of Nigeria and ever since Brainwashed the Next Generation to think that Farming is Useless to them.
Let me come into your convo here.
You made valid points in your post about not depending completely on the far-North for food supplies but @dapson who you responded to has two-decades of post-graduate qualification as an Aquaculturist according to what he posted on this thread. You were harsh on him for saying that his IQ is way below average simply because he gave his perspectives.
Yorubaland will continue to supplement food supply from especially the North Central states like Plateau, Niger, Kwara, Kogi, Benue, etc, because NOT all food crops will thrive in specific areas in Yorubaland. However, folks can go for hydroponics, aquaphonics, improved seedlings from international institutions such as IITA, and the use of greenhouses to ensure more bumper harvests in peppers and tomatoes for instance. Hybrids and organically-grown crops are key to sustainable food production in Yorubaland and indeed other Nigerian states as long as there is massive security on farmlands.
I watched and listened to the video. The chants on Lagos Island were definitely planned to embarrass the man (President Tinubu) based on the comments of the men close to the guy doing the video recording.
The guys in the government at all levels have to quickly bring down inflation, stabilize the exchange rate, and introduce price control once the Dangote refinery starts full production in early 2024, and the CNG vehicles for food and passenger transportation have been fully deployed to prevent greedy folks from further increasing food prices and ruining the economy further... And more.
Faiththatworks: I believe there's a coordinated attempt to instill fear in the minds of Nigeria concerning 2024. I read Dr Sobowale column in the Vanguard online edition today and I was really bemused and flabbergasted, his doom day prophecy concerning 2024 is worse than what Isreal faced in the bible during the famine and drought of Prophet Elijah. He predicted food scarcity, currency scarcity, fuel scarcity, forex scarcity and concluded 2024 will be very difficult year for Nigerians. Bloomberg has decided to follow the same pattern as the Dr of Doom by predicting the Nigerian currency will perform terribly in 2024 meaning expect more devaluation of the currency next year. I beg to disagree with all these Messages of Doom being released by these so called experts, even when Baba Buhari with his Buharinomics was using 98% of our earnings to pay off foreign debt, the Naira didn't collapse. These experts all have something in common, they always try to downplay the significant impact the Dangote Refinery and the port Harcourt refinery will have on the economy of Nigeria. In the report by Bloomberg, they alluded that things will get better if Nigeria is able to produce more crude oil,I daresay Nigeria is already producing more, with local refining expected to Increase significantly in 2024, Nigeria will definitely produce more. 2024 is the year my country will turn a corner for good, like Dr Rewane said, revenues have increased by 200%,the states and local government have more money to work with. I can testify to this because my mother's pension in Lagos state was increased by 105% in the month of December. Naysayers should keep their message of Doom cos things are about to get better in Nigeria. God bless Nigeria.
True that.
A lot of people on NL indeed have a VERY poor grasp of simple English. The article says "MAY" and some ethnic bigots, creeps and semiliterate posters here just barge into a topic without reading to understand the full body of the article and they are busy gloating and spewing unwarranted falsehoods and hate speech. Gosh!
The article says the Naira MAY depreciate... The empasis is on the word "MAY." This simple English implies that it is NOT concrete OR set in stone! There will be more refineries in full operation in 2014 in Ibeju Lekki, PH, and Akwa Ibom so like Bismarck and Olayemi Cardoso said, the Naira WILL APPRECIATE in 2024.
"Vetiva Capital Management Ltd told the publication that the naira MAY depreciate further unless Tinubu’s government attracts international investments or ramps up oil output.
Bloomberg’s prediction is at variance with that of Bismarck Rewane, chief executive officer, who said Nigeria’s exchange rate is expected to rise in 2024.
Olayemi Cardoso, the apex bank governor, also projected that exchange rate pressures are expected to reduce significantly in the coming year."
sukkot: nice one Chief, this is great information. I would look into juli pharmacy most especially cuz I never heard of them
Greetings Sukkot. Juli Pharmacy on Kodesoh street in Ikeja, was founded by the industrialist and pharmacist, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi. They have cheaper prices and quality products and they offer dental services too. You can do some Googling on them.
HealthPlus and MedPlus are very credible phar macy stores located at malls where ShopRite is also located and at MMA2 (the domestic airport in Ikeja).
Contentplug: Around 3:00 pm on Friday, December 29th, 2023, former US President Barack Obama dropped his 2023 playlist titled: “Barack Obama's Favorite Music of 2023.”
The playlist which contains 28 songs, spanning across continents and genres shows the politician's high taste for music beyond borders and biases. This isn't a new thing as the President has a culture of appreciating arts all over the globe, from music to movies and books.
In what Africans do not particularly find surprising due to the recent success of Afrobeats, a couple of Afrobeats top hits made the playlist. However, there seem to be a little surprise in the former POTUS choice Afrobeat songs.
Every African with even a below average knowledge of African music will admit that Afrobeats is incomplete without the exploits of Nigerian stars.
With his Grammy-nominated hit song “Unavailable”; off the Timeless album, featuring South African star, Musa Keys, Davido makes the list.
Also on the list is Burna Boy with his didactic hit “Sitting on top of the World” which featured American rapper 21 Savage. Asake of YBNL made it to the list too with “Amapiano“; an Amapiano-themed song featuring his boss, Olamide.
The last Nigerian artist to grace the playlist is the Grammy-winning vocalist, Tems. She got into the playlist with her recent hit song “Me & U.”
Although many Nigerians accept this as a testament to the massive growth in the Nigerian music industry, others wonder why their favorite artists didn't make the list.
In the spirit of celebrating Afrobeats, it'd suffice to add that South African biggest female rising star, Tyla, made it to the list too with her Grammy-nominated track “Water.”
What do you think about this playlist?
That's a very eclectic music playlist by Barack Obama... Very interesting.
sukkot: thats good information bro and a splendid 2024 to you too indeed. May we all prosper and be healthy and happy in 2024. It’s interesting to know that ebeanos exists in Canada and scary to know the lekki guys may have been infiltrated. I guess shoprite it is then. I doubt they can infiltrate Shoprite. Then again who knows eh 🤣🤣
Indeed Sukkot. ShopRite, Domino stores, Cash 'n Carry, Juli Pharmacy, etc, are the cream of the crop. These folks get their merchandise direct from the manufacturers at whole sale price... And even at slightly below wholesale price for items got at foreclosures, auctions and more.
To you question... Ebeano in Canada would definitely be well regulated... Conforming to the high standards of that country. However, the Ebeano branch in Lekki may have been infiltrated by a few of the expired products which were repacked by these creeps in warehouses just like other retail and wholesalers may have fallen victim. The co-founder of Ebeano is from Agbor in Delta State and not from the core South East so I'm sure he knows the value of service to clients and total quality management.
It's just better to watch out for any clues that will give a food product away as fake.
Mikespecialone: Gaston Glock, the Austrian engineer who transformed from crafting curtain rods to pioneering the production of globally renowned handguns, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 94.
Glock Inc. confirmed the demise of its founder on the company’s website, providing no specific cause of death.
The website featured a solemn tribute, “In Memoriam Gaston Glock 07/19/1929 – 12/27/2023,” accompanied by a photo of Glock in a dark suit and maroon tie, standing with crossed arms against a black backdrop.
The company also acknowledged Glock’s impact, stating that he not only revolutionised the small arms industry in the 1980s but also established the Glock brand as the outstanding leader in the global handgun industry.
The Glock pistol, favoured by law enforcement agencies, made its mark in blockbuster movies like “Die Hard 2” and “U.S. Marshals,” and found mention in numerous rap songs, including Wu-Tang Clan’s “Da Glock.”
Born in Vienna, Austria, in 1929, Glock’s company initially supplied knives and bayonets to the Austrian Army in the 1970s. In 1980, he discovered the army’s requirement for a new handgun.
Despite not personally owning a handgun, Glock gathered experts to assist in creating the “pistol of the future.” During the project, he underwent training on handguns and test-fired prototypes with his left hand, ensuring the continuity of his design work in case of accidents.
The outcome was the Glock 17, a groundbreaking semi-automatic handgun crafted from industrial plastic or polymer, featuring a magazine capacity of 17 rounds and an additional round in the chamber.
The Austrian Army adopted the Glock as its new service pistol in 1983, and the Norwegian Army followed suit the next year, designating it as their standard sidearm.
Glock’s influence extended to the United States, where the company established its headquarters in Smyrna, Georgia, in 1985.
It claimed that over 65% of U.S. federal, state, and local agencies have been equipped with Glock pistols.
othermen: “ It is with heavy heart that I accept this onerous responsibility of taking over the reins of governance and affairs of our State following the unfortunate loss and passing of our beloved Governor, leader and dear boss, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu, SAN, CON.”
The above was the beginning of his inaugural speech.About 90% of the speech was about the past governor and continuing his legacy.
OndoEyes: It was needed to rejoice and dance on the same day his boss just died? Aiyedatiwa was nothing before Aketi brought him to contest with him and this is how he repaid him. Nothing can justify this treacherous act
It's interesting. All the threads that you created were geared towards tarnishing the image of the new Governor. I watched the TVC live coverage video and officially when a Governor or President passes on, his or her deputy get's sworn in the same day to prevent a vacuum in governance.
I remember that John F. Kennedy's successor got sworn-in on the U.S. Presidential plane while Kennedy's body was being flown back in a casket after his assassin.
Last but not least, I noticed that some folks in the hall were rowdy and I deduced that some of them were from the Ilaje area where the VERY eloquent and well-read Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa hails from. I didn't like that noise from a section of the audience but I guess it was excitement that caused it.
Akeredolu was a great man who achieved a lot in the legal profession. I'm really proud of him.
Biodun556: ;In a big boost towards achieving Nigeria’s energy refining capacity and security, Nigeria’s Dangote refinery has received its next one-million-barrel crude oil cargo from Shell International Trading and Shipping Company Limited (STASCO), bringing the total to three million barrels at the facility’s Single-Point Mooring.
It was also gathered by the ARISE NEWS team that the fourth shipment of crude is on the way.
The company, gearing up to commence operations at 350,000 bpd, is scheduled to start production of diesel and aviation fuel by Mid- January 2024 in which Premium Motor Spirit production is to follow.
Dangote Petroleum Refinery has the capacity to meet 100% of the Nigeria’s requirement of all refined products, gasoline, diesel, kerosene, and aviation jet, and also have surplus of each of these products for export.
Earlier this month, the $20bn refinery received its first crude of 950,000-barrel cargo from Nigeria’s Agbami crude berthed at Dangote’s offshore crude receiving terminal in Lekki at about 7pm on December 7, marking the initiation of crude supplies for the refinery’s operations.
The tanker chartered by the Nigerian National Petroleum Company (NNPC), symbolised the initial crude supply to Dangote’s state-of-the-art refinery as it geared up to initiate production.
.
The owner, Aliko Dangote had earlier stated that the Dangote Refinery, will fully come online with the refining of 650, 000 barrels per day by the end of 2024.
Dangote, in an interview in November, also said that the refinery would start with refining Nigerian crude, insisting that the refinery’s first priority is to supply petrol to Nigeria before exporting elsewhere, including the West African region.
“We don’t want to start our refinery with foreign goods, we want to start with the Nigerian crude.
We’re more than ready and you will see our gasoline products soon.”
The refinery situated on the outskirts of Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub, had faced delays since its announcement in 2013, despite substantial installation progress made in 2019.
In September 2023, the refinery announced that it will start producing diesel and kerosene in October 2023 and gasoline one month later.
In October, it was clear that the refinery would not yet be able to start operations because the supply of crude oil was stalling, which caused considerable public reaction.
Beremx: Ojo is the headquarters of fake and unregistered products in Lagos. I have known this right from the days of Dora Akunyili. If you're buying pet bottle drinks from that axis, one has to be very careful.
Below is also a NAFDAC sting operation in Aba in December 2023.
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency NAFDAC has uncovered factories in the popular Cemetery market in Abia state where fake wines and fizzy drinks are being produced.
Channels TV reports that the agency stormed the market and discovered shops where adulterated products from other brands were being reproduced.
sirchim: Am just ashamed of many comments I have read so far. What a tribalistic country? And many of them called themselves graduates. Is really a pity, school never passed through them at all, they only went to mark register. Must everything in this God damn country, turn into a TRIBAL war? How will the citizens of other countries, feel to see we don't even love ourselves. Why don't we all CONDEMN this evil act and just save our breath, rather than all these noises. Meanwhile, the main CRIMINALS and EVIL one's, called poliTHIEFcians are at the top doing the worse, while we celebrate them. There was a country INDEED!
By the time you realize the damage the stubborn makers of these fake unhygienic products are making month after month, year after year, then you will understand the anger targeted towards the criminals on display here.
Attached below are FOUR images of a 2017 crime scene in ikorodu, Lagos State showing the unhygienic production of contaminated fake malt drinks, fake wine, and fake ethanol.
A dead RAT was found in one of the drums of the fake and uncertified malt drinks by NAFDAC and Edgal Imohimi, who was then the Lagos State Commissioner of Police and 5 arrests were made in Ikorodu... All the culprits were Ibos from the South East of Nigeria.
They were producing in open blue drums in unhygienic conditions and this is one of the reasons why there's been a spike in kidney failures from the use of harmful ingredients and coloring matter in fake drinks and drugs.
It's better to get these malt, wine, and stout drinks from accredited dealers, shopping malls and department stores, instead of the open markets to avoid buying poisonous, fake products.
