saasala: Tinubu is an astute politician. He knows how power works.
This move is what Robert Green wrote in his book, 48 Laws of powers. Law #2 states that you should use your enemies.
Falana and his son, Falz are big enemies of Tinubu, but now, baba has called them to dine with him and also tap from their wisdom for his own good. Femi Falana is a close legal friend, an associate and constructive critic, not an enemy of Tinubu, the Nigerian President. Femi Falana and Tinubu worked hard with others in the struggle against Military dictatorship in Nigeria back in the early to late 1990s for democracy. Tinubu and Falana are one of the true heroes of democracy that is being enjoyed back in Nigeria. It could be better though. It is Folarin Falana his son that has been more antagonistic and a bit naive in some of his actions... But I assume he means well. |

Olu317: Adé in léké is royalty triumphant. The crown being translated is literary. Whoever bears such surname or name which has Adé that is related to kingly is that the name is associated with royalty.
Even the "Adébọ̀bóyè" is still royalty despite the description of the name that(arrival to be heralded with chietancy title) may also be interpreted based on whatever circumstances each individuals get to position and gives name to child that was born at that time in history. Thanks @Olu317 for adding more meat to this topic. Ade means crown or related to royalty so I was a bit stunned reading a different interpretation in the original post here. But then since Yoruba is a tonal language, one has to be cautious about interpreting some of those Yoruba family names based on regional or dialectic differences, like the surname Okusanya. I used to think the prefix Oku (the Ijebu deity of wealth) has to do with "death," but now I know it means a different thing in the Ijebu dialect of Yoruba. I learned new insights from the original post though. Thanks again, and all the best. |

seunmsg: Your ignorance is appalling. You think the price will remain static till now from 2012? If we’ve allowed GEJ to fully remove subsidy in 2012 and eliminate regulated prices, the price per liter would still be around N500 today so what’s your point? Gosh! There are too many economic illiterates on this website these days. Can you imagine that dweeb you responded to here saying that the current government should take the price of fuel back to the GEJ period. GEJ and his team were supposed to build Greenfield refineries then but they never did after NLC and others had discussions with the government. The primary reason Occupy Nigeria took place around Nigeria then was simply because there was NO efficient refinery operations going on and GEJ wanted to remove the subsidy without visible palliatives or plan for a functional refinery. Dangote will start production next month and that has been the saving grace otherwise a lot of Nigerians would have revolted. |

ogododo: https://www.vanguardngr.com/2023/06/apologise-to-jonathan-obi-okonjo-iweala-peterside-tells-2012-fuel-subsidy-removal-critics/ Atedo is talking B.S. There was NO functional refinery as of 2012 and GEJ wanted to remove the subsidy. Besides, as part of the negotiations with NLC in 2012, the GEJ government was supposed to construct greenfield refineries but that administration NEVER built any. Only people with short memories or who were little kids as of 2012 would fall for this apology blackmail ramblings. A whopping $10 billion annually would be saved by the government which can then be channeled towards critical infrastructure and human capital development. Dangote Refinery will begin production in July and that should be able to meet the needs of folks back in Nigeria, and have more for export.I expected buses and cars powered by CNG to have been launched by now just like Lagos State in partnership with Oando launched electric buses in May 2023 to minimize pressure on transportation in the short to medium-term. In any event, fuel pump price will drop drastically this year with Dangote coming on stream. |

Raskimonojendor: This woman is economical with the truth. We all know how the ibos dominated the North civil service and taunted northerners before and after the coup that took out Amhadu Bello, tafawa Balewa, Akintola and other non-ibo leaders. That's the origin of the Ibo dislike in Nigeria.
Your people can take a lesson or two in humility and not being boastful. Reduce your crimes outside Nigeria as well. The crime is the origin of the dislike outside Nigeria. Indeed. Sometime last month, Reno Omokri whose father is Urhobo and mother is Itsekiri wrote about how his uncle, the iconic Okotie Eboh (an Itsekiri Chief and Finance Minister of Nigeria) along with other prominent politicians and Senior Military officers, were gunned down by those majorly Ibo "schoolboy" coup plotters in the January 1966 coup. Reno wrote about how post-January 1966 coup, Ibos living in the North and East of Nigera proceeded to jubilate and openly taunt and insult others through media articles and songs (which is still going on as of today) and he had to report those Obi supporters to Obi, but Obi could not call to order his majorly Ibo supporters who were always insulting and mocking others online and offline. These led to the reprisal attacks on Ibos in the North in 1966. Nnamdi Azikiwe confirmed all these narcissistic tauntings by some Ibos in the pamphlet he wrote on the immediate causes of the Nigerian Civil War. Chinua Achebe also wrote about the notorious Ibo narcissism in his last published book: “I will be the first to concede that the Igbo as a group is not without its flaws. Its success can and did carry deadly penalties: the dangers of hubris, overweening pride, and thoughtlessness, which invite envy and hatred or, even worse, than can obsess the mind with material success and dispose it to all kinds of crude showiness. There is no doubt at all that there is a strand in contemporary Igbo behavior that can offend by its noisy exhibitionism and disregard for humility and quietness.” ~ Achebe |

chrisxxx: Food The Ikwerre people are predominantly farmers and hunters, this is because we have a very fertile soil and forests teeming with wildlife. Our main indigenous meal, which you must find at any major occasion (burials, weddings etc), is a combo of Miniwiri-okazi (with plenty of smoked fish, smoked meat and major periwinkle presence) and Odogoro (Fufu) or Otara-iji (Pounded yam). A typical Ikwerre person of Apara/Rumuapara extraction knows how to Dundu; this is the act of eating your well spiced and smoked fish or meat with your Odogoro or Otara-iji… and without any soup. Yum!
Dressing The Ikwerre people traditionally use Jioji wrapper. Ikwerre women tie two pieces and a blouse with a head-tie of a different but corresponding jioji wrapper, while the men wear an Etibo top and tie one piece of jioji wrapper with a pair of jumper shorts under.
What do you love most about Ikwerre people? What I love most about my people is our pride in our land and resources. I also love the language and our indigenous songs. The native lingo in Starboy ft Wizkid and Duncan Mighty- Fake Love gives an idea of this beautiful tongue. Female dogs are a taboo in my community and many others in Ikwerre-land. This is one of the most unreasonable laws I know of and this continued adherence to a custom which has no significance is something I really dislike about Ikwerre-land. Tell us about any local or indigenous festivals One of my favorite festivals is the Egelege festival. It is a local wrestling competition that occurs annually, with neighboring communities competing for the prestige that comes with winning, hosting rights are alternated between communities and so in spite of its nature, it is a sport that builds friendship amongst communities and brings families together. Please share a few Ikwerre proverbs with us Nye lo biekun o nye ruhuru soga (It is he who carries the burning firewood that the smoke will follow)
Nshi kamma ke Igo nyorun (The eagle’s shit is best)
Nye doru evu evu gba (He who disturbs bees gets stung by bees)
What do you wish more people knew about Ikwerre people We are quite welcoming and accepting of people of different tribes. Our language has many words in common with the Ekpeye , Etche and Igbo people but we are neither any of them. We are a distinct ethnic group. That's interesting. |

Mrnairalandd: Let’s talk about this topic you have just addressed without prejudice. Can we? It baffles me when i see the Igbos addressing this sensitive issue with levity. Would Igbos have voted for an igbo man who had used derogatory names(Yamirin) to refer to his own people(The Igbos) in the past and his mother happens to be a Yoruba woma? Would you? You and i know that the Igbos we all know won’t vote for such person. So why are Igbos trying to force this particular guy down d Yorubas’ throats? A typical case study here is Okorocha, the Igbos hate that guy cos his association with the North. The Igbos even refer to him as “Ewuhausa” cos his mom is an Hausa woman. Just imagine Okorocha referring to the Igbos as “Yamirin”, be honest, would the Igbos go ahead and vote for him? The answer ll surely be capital NO.
Finally, if Igbos are not hate-filled people like they say, why are Igbos always oppose the choices of their hosts-The Yorubas in their own land?
Why can’t Igbos work with their hosts-The Yorubas to pick the best candidate instead of going against their preferred candidates with “Block Votes” all the time. It was so bad that the Obas had to invite the Igbos in 2015 to threaten them. Can’t you see this is a provocation that ll eventually lead to war if we don’t call the Igbos to order.
Let me say this before i go, either Igbos like it or not, in eventuality of war, Igbos must go after the war as seen in Sudan and South Sudan case or Pakistan and India case too. UN charter says it all, Igbos ll need to leave if separation is the only way out. However, i believe if Igbos could look inward and tell themselves some truths and begin to respect the political views of their hosts communities, peace ll reign.
In UK or Europe, the white Europeans won’t stand this Igbos attitude as far as politics is concerned. Let me use Sunak UK prime minister as an example. The conservatives delegates who are 98% white people didn’t want Sunak despite the fact he was born and raised in England and speaks fluent English. They decided to pick the lady before Sunak despite the fact that Sunak is more intelligent with track record than Liz Truss(White Brit). Eventually, do you know that Conservatives MPs had to force their way through and voted for Sunak. The MPs realised that the white british conservatives delegates won’t vote for Sunak to lead them… Nicely put. |
Culture › Re: Ooni Inaugurates National Orisa Day In Brazil by XAUBulls: 7:54pm On Jun 04, 2023 |
Mrnairalandd: Everything you talked about was clearly understood but you seemed not to get my points and many Yorubas’ perspectives about the igbos getting involved in their politics. Let me use Peter Obi and UK as case studies.
In UK, even though it is an advanced country, and over 300years in existence, they understand the need to create a room for ethnicity cos it’s part of human existence. In animal kingdom, animals are naturally territorial even a year old child does want his friend closed to her/his mum. So UK and most European countries paved way for regions just like what is obtainable here in Nigeria.
In UK, they have Scotland- Igbos with Edinburgh(Enugu) as their capital, Wales(North) with Cardiff(Abuja) and England(Yorubas) with London(Lagos). Having lived in England for 50yrs as a Scottish man does change your place of Origin in UK, you are still a Scottish. Can you see how much UK has been able to avoid what is happening in Nigeria right now? There ll be a WAR if you as a Igbo man or Ijaw man want to tell a Yoruba man that an Ijaw or Igbo man is the right candidate for his state. UK could have lump everybody together without Scotland, Wales, England and Northern Ireland if identity with politics are not delicate and sensitive issues.
The reason why there are a lot of tribal wars in Africa over the years is because cos of tribal issues. We are trying to be sophisticated about it but it won’t work. If you ask me, i ll say we are playing with fire, it ll be a war eventually.
Here is another issue, wrong mentality, you talked about how you should be entitled to be a Lagosian by the virtue of being born and raised in Lagos for 15years. No i disagree! There are so many countries in the world that prevent you from being a citizen or indigenous to the land regardless how long you have lived there. We all came from somewhere and that somewhere should be our home.
Finally, you didn’t address one of the main point i raised in my last response to you which is, the Igbos need to stop throwing “Block Votes” to the Yorubas in South West. Individual igbo man should go and cast his vote without making it seems like the Igbos are competing with their host communities.
Our forefathers who fought for independence and federalism knew that we are different people. Only Nigeria state bounds us together nothing more. You can’t come from your Igboland to tell me your Igbo kinsman is the right person to govern me when there are thousands Yorubas that would do a better job. Just imagine this, let’s assume the Igbos wanted to vote for Peter Obi to be the Governor of Abia state but the Yorubas living in Abia decide to build a “Block Votes” purely based on their ethnicity-The Yorubas and begin to campaign for Ngige, naturally, as humans, they ll begin to get agitated just like you see the Igbos in presidential election.
The Igbos need to focus on their region politics if we are to avoid a civil war. And sadly, if Igbos continue to do what they are doing right now, it ll only lead to one thing; it’s war. And sadly, Igbos ll need to leave just like Pakistan left New Delhi for their own capital Islamabad, South Sudanese left Khartoum for Juba and many more. Remember, it got bad that the Oba had to call the Igbos in 2015… There are many tribes in Yorubaland but none behaves like the Igbos.
Beating your chest as a fighter doesn’t mean nothing when the war finally comes. So let’s be real and speak the truth. Politics is like a religious topic, quite sensitive, we need to be careful when it comes to people land. Deep. |

A video went viral of two guys receiving a Mouth Gig from a fair lady. From most of the comments, it was alleged Shatta Wale is one of the guys in the video. But how did the video leak? Well, Shatta Wale himself posted it on his Snapchat! Abnormal right? But sadly very true. He posted it himself. Interestingly, he deleted the snap few minutes after but it had already been recorded by some folks and it quickly went viral.
And as usual, Shatta Wale was on his snap after he deleted video throwing jabs at bloggers. Almost every celebrity who messes up in Ghana finds it comfortable blaming bloggers. Shatta Wale claims bloggers recorded it and are spreading to disgrace him. Meanwhile, he posted it himself.
Funny enough, Natty Lee Gh, a fan and a friend of Shatta Wale was on Facebook stating that the person in the video is him and not Shatta Wale. He gave some funny reasons as to how his video got on Wale’s snap.
One question that has been on the lips of everyone since the video leaked is, Who is that lady giving that skillful BJ? Well, she has been busted by social media users.
We on MandyNews.com gathered on social media platforms, the lady in question is a very close friend of Shatta Wale’s baby mama Shatta Michy and she is always seen hovering around Michy whenever they go for any outdoor program.
MandyNews.com has not yet caught the name of this lady, photos of her are already going viral on social media.
More update coming soon.

Eating pig is haram in Islam and to Arabs but in the west, almost everything has pork in it and it’s normal to eat pig. In India amongst Hindus (Hinduism), cow is sacred but people eat cow in almost every other culture. So, would you say those who eat pigs and cows are uncivilised?
But I think she shouldn’t have done it publicly if she’s trying to grow her brand internationally, especially after slaving it up for days, in her conquest for international recognition with a world record. She ended whatever hope she had in the west with this because white people don’t play with dogs and cats. And this is going to follow her everywhere she goes. Nicely put. But then on a closer look at the third short video here with Hilda and the male influencer (Enioluwa), it seems both of them were just goofing around and the fried meat in front of both of them ISN'T dog meat.
