Women, more than men, tend to feel stultified by long-term exclusivity—despite having been taught that they were designed for it.

(...) Marta Meana of the University of Nevada at Las Vegas spelled it out simply in an interview with me at the annual Society for Sex Therapy and Research conference in 2017. “Long-term relationships are tough on desire, and particularly on female desire,” she said. I was startled by her assertion, which contradicted just about everything I’d internalized over the years about who and how women are sexually. Somehow I, along with nearly everyone else I knew, was stuck on the idea that women are in it for the cuddles as much as the orgasms, and—besides—actually require emotional connection and familiarity to thrive sexually, whereas men chafe against the strictures of monogamy.
But Meana discovered that “institutionalization of the relationship, overfamiliarity, and desexualization of roles” in a long-term heterosexual partnership mess with female passion especially—a conclusion that’s consistent with other recent studies.
“Moving In With Your Boyfriend Can Kill Your Sex Drive” was how Newsweek distilled a 2017 study of more than 11,500 British adults aged 16 to 74. It found that for “women only, lack of interest in sex was higher among those in a relationship of over one year in duration,” and that “women living with a partner were more likely to lack interest in sex than those in other relationship categories.”
A 2012 study of 170 men and women aged 18 to 25 who were in relationships of up to nine years similarly found that women’s sexual desire, but not men’s, “was significantly and negatively predicted by relationship duration after controlling for age, relationship satisfaction, and sexual satisfaction.” Two oft-cited German longitudinal studies, published in 2002 and 2006, show female desire dropping dramatically over 90 months, while men’s holds relatively steady. (Tellingly, women who didn’t live with their partners were spared this amusement-park-ride-like drop—perhaps because they were making an end run around overfamiliarity.) And a Finnish seven-year study of more than 2,100 women, published in 2016, revealed that women’s sexual desire varied depending on relationship status: Those in the same relationship over the study period reported less desire, arousal, and satisfaction. Annika Gunst, one of the study’s co-authors, told me that she and her colleagues initially suspected this might be related to having kids. But when the researchers controlled for that variable, it turned out to have no impact. (...)"
Creativity, spontaneous living, and more exclusive relationship strategies can help to minimized the effects of the pressures of everyday living and sexual boredom in those kinda long-term heterosexual relationships.
Biglittlelois: Lol, the spirit behind sex is very strong.
@Biglittlelois,
Indeed. It's a very strong spirit... Raging hormones, etal. Tbh, I have NO pity for most of the clueless dude's out there who think women are simply prudes. The society has for centuries triggered women to pretend so they don't get called "sluts" in the male-dominated society. Only few men like me have a more realistic, insider view about this societal discord.
On the other hand, sex is a normal pattern in nature without which our species would be totally extinct.
tonywonder: Marriage has being polluted and defiled by both men and women. When you read what couples do outside of their marriage as a bachelor or spinster, you might end up never getting married, becoming a baby daddy/baby mama or just adopting babies and enjoy your short life on earth.
tonywonder: Mrs Amara, a married woman, confesses to sleeping with her driver because she was bored and lonely, but she later discovered her husband was also cheating.
lhordspy: Another mistake. There are differences between politics and governance. You people like mixing it together.
Everywhere in the world where democracy is practised. You have to be elected to be able to govern. And also have to play your politics right to be able to be elected.
Politics keeps you in that position to govern. There are thousands of people who knows how to govern well, but bad at politics. Then how can they attain that position to be able to govern well?
You have to be able to play the two well, simultaneously. Without one colliding with the others. That is what makes a great leader.
Extra If you're looking for options for unlimited internet and still considering whether to get Starlink or not, here's an unboxing, setup, and speed test for the device I got last month.
I'm based in North-central Nigeria, learn about my experience here:
Skyview01: The shipping agent added on more charges that was not agreed upon when the car landed in the port.
Due diligence and getting second or third opinions is the key to avoiding these kinds of added charges tbh.
For any subsequent new or pre-owned car pre-orders, there's an Ikeja, Lagos-based shipping agent that I have seen here on NL with some positive appraisals from clients that have had cars delivered to their doorsteps from the U.S., Dubai, Europe, etc. You can check the NL profile of @gimporters for more due diligence.

olat: All of u should just go get all the Mainframe collections, viz: Saworoide, Oleku, Thunderbolt, Oga Mako (I just forgot the title-about customs), Agogo-Ewo, Campus queen, Yellow card, they are all too much. Then the second batch, just go and get all OGD piuctures (Tade Ogidan films). From Hostages, Diamond ring, Dangerous twins, Madam Dearest etc. You 'll be proud to be a Nigerian and an African too.
Mixt: Billionaire businessman, Terry Waya has shared a throwback photo of himself with his son, Kiddwaya and his older son, Junior.
The Benue-born business mogul who keeps much of his life off social media has been speaking more often, of recent considering the fact that Kiddwaya is a contestant on Big Brother Naija reality TV show.
Beautiful Lady Used For Joy Soap Advert In The 80s, Aging Gracefully In those days, people had crush on the joy girl in the video because of her unflinching beauty and this is how she looks now. The pretty young lady that was used for the advert then, has now turned to an healthy looking old woman.
Real Beauty Never Fades.
Wow... Nostalgic images from back in the day. I have goose bumps right now... 43 years ago!
Yeah! This was back in the very early 1980s, but I remember this particular TV ad started showing from the very late 1970s (1979).
Joy Toilet soap, LUX, and Cusson's Imperial Leather soap, used beautiful young Nigerian ladies as models in their TV and print ads back in the late 1970s right to the 1980s.
ogaemma: Disclosing this in statement, Afegbua’s family said: “The Afegbua family of Edo state has confirmed the demise of the first woman senator in Nigeria, Senator Franca Afegbua, whose sad event occurred this morning, Sunday, March 12, 2023.
“She combined beauty and brain during her service to Nigeria. Funeral details will be announced by the family soon,” the family said.
OgundeleT: We have what we call faweli aranmupe iin Yoruba a which are an, en, in, on, un. These only can be put in a word. So that is why those Ogundele and co are allowed. Using Shola instead of Sola is part of corruption that has entered the Yoruba writing
Indeed. "Shade" with the letter "h" too is a corruption.
Sade without the letter "h" is the actual spelling just like that used by British-Nigerian multiple Grammy Award singer, Sade Adu who is of Ikere-Ekiti paternal lineage with a white English mother from England.
OgundeleT: Grova can't be a Yoruba language because two consonant can't follow each other and letter "v" isn't in Yoruba writing. it is gurofa and tomaati
FFK should have kept that NSA info below the radar for now, then wait for an official announcement. There could be last minute changes to the NSA position.
lhordspy: I remember when the stories of this guy's atrocities were making round. The SE folks where at the forefront of the criticism. With help from their propaganda media house, AriseTV; They maligned Lagos state government. They ran commentary 247 about how Lagos state is a den of 'agberos' . and how it is very unsafe.
Well, BROTHER OGBONNA CHIWENLU, the professional developer , Onyi gburugburu has been the one terrorising the state. I am very sure he also joined in the criticism party back then on social media.
Tbh, over the last 20 years, based on several online and offline media reports, there have been many traffic robberies, kidnapping for ransom, rapes, and other vicious crimes in Lagos, Oyo, Ondo, Ekiti, and the rest of Nigeria (outside the core South Eastern states) that have been commited by young male Ibos.
The first major kidnapping for ransom in Lagos State that I remember vividly was carried out in 2009 by a gang of 8 Ibo criminals who kidnapped the wife of Ifesinachi Transport in Lagos State and took her to the South Eastern part of Nigeria. The Police Intelligence Team got involved and later rescued her in Anambra State. That was the period when Police check points on the highways where reduced. Many other kidnappings in Lagos by Chukwudumeme Onwuamadike aka Evans and other Ibo criminal gangs took place during Governors Fashola and Ambode's governments but they were eventually busted by the Police IRT members.
Tomorrow, this 25-year-old idiot who has been brazenly stealing car side mirrors on Ikoyi Island (without realizing that security cameras had captured his criminal actions) would grant an interview to a Journalist and tell his family members in the South East about how he "worked hard" (in Lagos, PH, or Abuja, etc) to make it in life in order to become a "millionaire."
It is high time the full details of these criminals such as their full names, towns, villages, and the ancestral compounds are fully publicized in print and electronic media because most human beings are usually detered by the name and shame method. Nobody will want to be disgraced among his or her family members, girl friends, colleagues and Town Union members.
datola: Please ban the rubish okirika. It is our major economy sabotage.
Those illiterates commenting up who want to look like oyinbo do not know it's because of the toxic okirikas that textile industry collapsed in Nigeria.
Textile industry used to be the largest employer of labour in Nigeria. Millions of jobs have been lost because of trade liberalization agenda that allow all rubish from other countries to be dumbed into Nigeria.
If we produce and sew almost all we wear here we would enjoy these benefits among others:
1. Millions of jobs lost will be recreated
2. Most youth will be gainfully employed and thus reduce crime especially insurgency in the North
3. Naira will gain strength
4. Health hazard as a result of wearing toxic clothese will be averted.
5, Nigerian fashion brands will grow
Hope those who want to eat their tomorrow today will understand.
