Nairaland General › Re: Two Methods To Ensure No Loss Of Principal by XAUBulls: 8:40am On Jun 16, 2023
Fisher85tow:
There are only two ways to keep from losing money: one is to have a small stop-loss space (reflected in the entry position), and the other is to not bet too much at once. For example, if you spend $10,000 to buy one lot, you can make $1,000. If you spend $100,000 to buy ten lots, you can make $10,000. The likelihood is the same, but the more you do, the more you earn, and the less you do, the less you earn. But preventing loss should be the top priority. As we've already talked about, if you buy too many lots this time and get stopped out, you'll suffer a significant loss, which goes against the principle of capital preservation.

After making profits, some traders get more and more greedy and add more positions. Adding positions is a common thing to do. For example, if you bought 10 lots at first and then made money in the expected direction, the trader would blame himself for not buying more at the start. Then, he would start to think that the market would continue to move in the way he thought it would, and he would put most of his money into this product, even though he didn't know how to do things right, like taking profits in small amounts.

When you add more positions, the cost changes. You will go from being profitable to losing money as soon as the market slightly changes. At this point, you panic, lose your ability to think, and your greed slowly turns into hope. You hope that this is only temporary, but the loss keeps getting worse. You might get lucky a few times, but it won't be long before there's a risk of a big loss or liquidation.

It's important to realize that you can't get rich from just one market movement, so don't focus too much on this one time. Greed makes people forget about risk, so they don't always think the market will move in the way they expect it to, ignoring the risk of the opposite trend. This is the key to keeping your money safe.

If you follow me, I'll give you more interesting ideas that will help you trade a lot.

Nairaland General › Re: Top Tips For Beginner Traders by XAUBulls: 8:39am On Jun 16, 2023
Fisher85tow:
Trading can be profitable and entertaining, but it can also be intimidating and dangerous for novice traders. Whether you're interested in stocks, forex, or other markets, there are some crucial tips to bear in mind as you embark on your path as a trader. Let's describe some of the top tips for beginner traders.

Start with a solid education
Gaining a thorough education on the markets you are interested in trading is the first step in becoming a great trader. This may involve reading books, attending seminars, and conducting online research. You may avoid many common errors and build a solid basis for your trading career by mastering the fundamentals of trading.

Develop a trading plan
It is necessary to construct a trading plan including your strategy, risk management method, and objectives before engaging in any trades. Your plan should also contain the types of trades you will make, the timeframes you will trade on, and the tools and indicators you will use to analyze the markets.

Practice with a demo account
Demo accounts are available from many brokers, allowing you to practice trading without risking real money. This is a good approach to test your trading tactics and gain a feel for the markets before engaging in actual deals. Once you are confident in your technique and have a firm grasp of the markets, practice trading on a demo account.

Manage your risk
Managing your risk is one of the most crucial components of effective trading. This includes utilizing stop-loss orders to limit your losses and position sizing to ensure you do not risk more than you can afford to lose. Never trade with funds that you cannot afford to lose, and always be aware of the dangers associated with each trade.

See each trade as a separate concept that receives a share of your capital. That makes it easier to trade in bulk instead of betting everything in 1 or 2 trades.

Keep a trading journal
Keeping a trading journal is an excellent method to monitor your progress and identify areas for improvement. Record your trades, their causes, and their outcomes. Regularly examine your trades for patterns, errors, and successes, and modify your trading plan accordingly.

Your journal will differ from that of other traders, so be mindful to maintain dated records of all your actions.

Be patient and disciplined
Successful trading requires fortitude and discipline. Stick to your trading plan and avoid the temptation to make impulsive trades based on emotions or rumors. Remember that trading is a long-term endeavor, and instead of attempting to get rich quickly, focus on making consistent gains over time.

If you add stress to your voyage, becoming a profitable trader will not be enjoyable. You can preserve your mental and physical capacity as a trader by exercising patience and discipline.

Stay informed
Ultimately, it is essential to maintain an awareness of the markets you are trading in. I am a firm believer in not following every trader's advice or suggestion, as doing so would result in trading their voyage. While their journey may be great, yours may suffer if they decide to cease trading and you are unable to compete.

To achieve the greatest results, it is essential to monitor current price movement. If you are a fundamental trader, remain current on the economic data that is influencing the market. Make sure you understand what you do for yourself and not based on what others have to say about the market.

In conclusion, trading can be a rewarding and profitable venture, but it requires dedication, discipline, and a sound education. By adhering to these essential guidelines for novice traders, you can avoid many common blunders and build a solid foundation for your trading career. Remember to be patient, to manage your risk, and to remain informed, and you will be well on your way to trading success.

I hope to see you there and I hope you enjoyed these tips.

Nairaland General › Re: How To Have An Edge Over The Markets by XAUBulls: 8:38am On Jun 16, 2023
Fisher85tow:
Hello Traders. This is Richard, also known as theSignalyst.

Today I want to share a basic trading plan that you can follow to quantify your trading edge.

📌Step 1:

To identify the current long-term trend, start with higher timeframes like Daily/Weekly. Is it bullish, bearish, or stuck inside a range?

If the price is sitting in the middle of nowhere, it is a NO-TRADE zone because the price has a 50-50 chance of going up or down. Thus no edge!

📚Wait until the price approaches the lower or upper bound. then continue to Step 2

📌Step 2:

No matter how strong a horizontal or non-horizontal support or resistance is, it can still be overcome. Therefore, do not blindly buy/sell as the price approaches a support/resistance level.

Instead, zoom in on smaller timeframes such as H1 and M30 to look for setups.

🏹A fundamental strategy would be to wait for a swing low to be broken below a resistance as a sign that bears are gaining control.

Wait for a swing high to be broken upward around a support for the bulls to take control.

This is the confirmation to enter the trade.

Of course, your second advantage would come from risk management, where you would aim for at least twice as much risk as your indented risk.

But that's a topic for a different post.😉

Always adhere to your trading plan's entry, risk management, and trade management guidelines.

I hope you find this post's content helpful.🙏

Nairaland General › Re: Smart Money Concepts | Supply & Demand by XAUBulls: 8:37am On Jun 16, 2023
Fisher85tow:
🧐What is Smart Money?
Smart money refers to the capital that institutional investors, central banks, and other professionals or financial institutions control. It is run by professional investors who know how to predict market trends and make the most of the money they make. The term "smart money" came from the world of gambling, where it was used to describe gamblers who knew a lot about the game they were betting on or who had access to information that the general public didn't. The idea behind "smart money" is that these investors can spot trends and opportunities before the rest of the market and position themselves in a way that takes advantage of them. They might also be able to influence the market in their favor by making people want to buy or sell certain securities. Some traders try to follow the smart money by looking at public filings, news reports, and other sources of information. However, it's important to remember that not all trades made by institutional investors or large financial institutions are necessarily "smart," and it can be risky to just copy what they do.

🔹 Supply Zone
In trading, a "supply zone" is a range of prices where there are a lot of orders to sell. This means that there is a lot of selling pressure and that the price may temporarily hit a "resistance level." On a price chart, a supply zone is an area where the price has turned around or stopped moving and where there are a lot of sell orders that haven't been filled yet or are pending. When making trading decisions, traders can use supply zones as a point of reference. For example, if the price gets close to a supply zone, traders might think about selling or taking profits on positions they already have. On the other hand, if the price breaks through a supply zone, traders may take that as a sign that the price is going up and buy or add to long positions.

🔹 Demand Zone

In trading, a "demand zone" is a price range where there are a lot of buy orders. This means that there is a lot of buying pressure and the price may be temporarily supported. On a price chart, a demand zone is an area where the price has turned around or found support in the past and where there are a lot of buy orders that haven't been filled yet or are still being processed. For instance, if the price gets close to a demand zone, traders might think about buying or adding to their long positions. If, on the other hand, the price breaks through a demand zone, traders may see this as a bearish sign and decide to sell or take profits on positions they already have.

Nairaland General › Re: Common Trader Biases by XAUBulls: 9:55pm On Jun 15, 2023
Fisher85tow:
🔴 Let's discuss the common trading biases that many traders encounter on a regular basis. These biases are some of the most prevalent that we run into when trading, and if you don't recognize them, they might be the reason why you don't succeed in the forex market. If you are able to think probabilistically, it will be much easier for you to deal with them and understand why giving in to them can hurt your results.

▶️ Recency Bias
It is a common mental tendency in which people focus on what is happening now rather than what has happened in the past. This is referred to as a cognitive bias, and it has an impact on traders. People who have had previous success are more likely to be overconfident in their subsequent trades, expecting things to go their way once more. Each trade, however, is unpredictable and has no relation to the ones that came before or after it. This knowledge can help you manage your emotions while trading.

▶️ Loss Aversion Bias
Some people tend to feel the effects of losses more than they do of equal magnitude wins. Lower performance is frequently the result. Traders who are only concerned with avoiding losses will miss out on large opportunities for profit and lose their positive advantage. Keep in mind that each trade is only one data point in a larger distribution. There will be setbacks. Don't avoid trades because you're afraid of them; instead, accept them as a necessary part of the process. Don't let previous losses make you doubt yourself if you have a competitive advantage. When you win, you win more than when you lose. The Law of Large Numbers is on your side. Think about things probabilistically rather than emotionally. This entails considering the likelihood of something occurring rather than simply assuming it will. This can assist you in making better decisions and avoiding losing trades.

▶️ Confirmation Bias
Taking in only information that supports your points of view. It is tempting to look favorably on your previous conviction because it feels good, but doing so increases the risk of missing important information that could help you get your conviction overturned. You can use objective rules to determine whether your advantage is present. Without proper rules, you will begin to see only what you want to see. To avoid this bias, it is critical to have a statistical advantage and strict rules to adhere to.

▶️ Bandwagon Bias
In general, this means participating in trades that everyone else is doing because you don't want to be left out. FOMO is a term used to describe the latest and hottest trade (Fear of Missing Out). You are succumbing to your emotions and following the crowd rather than following your own well-defined and positive edge. Forget about others and concentrate solely on yourself and your competitive advantage. Everything else is noise.

✅ Conclusion
As you can see, these biases are only temporary. As we've discovered, this is extremely risky for our trading because it's a long-term game in which we let our edge develop gradually. We understand that in order to be successful in trading, we must take the long view and believe in probability. If you succumb to these biases in the short run, you will ruin your trading and your trading account. However, by becoming aware of them, you can take steps to change your frame of reference in the present, preventing these biases from wreaking havoc on your trading performance.

Romance › Re: My Fiancee Is Good In Terms Of Character But She Isn't Resourceful by XAUBulls: 11:01am On Jun 15, 2023
boborosky:
Firstly, I am a guy who is goal driven. I work my ass off to ensure that I earn a living and this has left me with hating anyone who is lazy.
I met my fiance about a year ago. We don't reside in the same town but we talk everyday. When we started dating, she had told me she was done with schooling but she had a few issues which have prevented her from graduating. According to her, she finished in 2019 but has not been cleared because of those issues.

In the first few months that we started dating, I asked her why she was idle since the school was yet to clear her. I further advised that she should start something rather than stay at home. She told me then that she would like to produce and sell a particular commodity. I asked her what it required for her to start. She told me and I provided those things and travelled all the way to see her and hand those items over to her. Few weeks after that, I asked how the business was doing - she went from one story to the other. I was pissed because I thought she could have put all those excuses into consideration before letting me go through the stress of providing those items - It is not about the money for it wasn't much, but her lukewarm interest in pursing goals. Truth is that she never started the trade.

I let that slide and we moved on... Each day I noticed she doesn't have the desire to pursue goals. I mean, how could she have stayed over 3years at home without learning any skill or being purposeful. When it was clear that she wasn't being purposeful, I told her crystal clear that I would not want to be with anyone who lacks purpose or isn't resourceful. In response, she told me that she would work harder and do something. But as each day passed, it was the same old story. Right now, she teaches at a school - this was after a lot of pushing, and forcing and begging and all of that. Even, of the teaching, she complains that it is stressful.

She visited my family house twice. The first time she visited, I had to literally tell her to help in the sweeping of the house the morning following the night she arrived, which she did - I mean, I expected her to know (without being told) that that was expected of her as a first-time visitor in the frame of a prospective wife/in-law. Even as a man, you don't stay inside the room when you visit a family especially when they are doing chores - that was how I was raised. Maybe it isn't a general expectation, but that was how I was raised (Don't crucify me).

As it stands now, she isn't cleared yet and each time I tell her to go to the school, she would either reply reluctantly or get upset. Moreso, she doesn't have a skill. The truth is that, though she is nice, a virgin apparently, she may end up depending on me 100%. Given the way Nigeria is, one needs a partner who can support one. Also, coupled with the fact that though she loves me 100%, she is not very exposed (a bit timid), and lacks the desire to be independent, hardworking or achieve her own goals.

We had discussed marriage, though I have not proposed yet. Conversely, right now, I am having a rethink which has caused me to be a bit withdrawn and retrogressive. I do not want a spouse who would drag me backwards, I have suffered a lot to get to where God placed me - I don't want a setback given that my family partly depends on me. From all indications, I don't know whether she will be able to handle and account for a business if one is established for her.

Even though the decision to either proceed with or withdraw from marriage is solely mine, I'd like a piece of advice.

For matured folks.... What do you think?
She is not motivated enough. Let her go for paid-for seminars and workshops in entrepreneurship and more. Finance and course-related stress may have contributed to her having a delay in graduating. Information at my disposal indicates that these entry-level teachers earn as little as N20,000 or less per month! Also, not all businesses have high returns on investment, so you have to do your due diligence.

Second, she should also take "free online personality tests" to find out what career paths will suit her temperament. People should always do what they love and things that have public demand or mass market demand.

Third, a very good time and business management book I have in my home library and have read over again is the "80/20 Principle" by Robert Koch. Anyone can read that.

If she is not motivated to do something beyond the teaching job, (such as organizing lessons or home tutoring, or profitable entrepreneurship, then ditch her). Period.

The so-called "lawyer" who wrote this article in the Cable is dishonest and engaged in puerile propaganda.

There are so many internal errors in this article and I strongly doubt that this guy is a legal practitioner.

First off, Onne is a river port NOT a seaport. The only seaports that exist in Nigeria are in Lagos State. All other ports in Nigeria are river ports because they were ALL built along RIVERS and not along the SEAS or oceans. The new Lekki Deep Seaport is a classic example of a seaport built on a sea or Atlantic ocean.

There is also NO part of Iboland that shares direct boundaries with the sea so there can be NO seaports there, ONLY river ports like Onitsha river port can exist there. Since Iboland shares direct boundaries with the great river Niger, the Ibos are Nigerians because the country or landmass called Nigeria was named after river Niger.

Last but not least, there is NO such thing as the "corruption" of Bight of Bonny. As of 1967, based on official government gazette, the Bight of Bonny officially became the name of the body of ocean waters bordering the present 4 states of Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Cross Rivers. The Ibos have NO right to appropriate that illegal name "Biafra" because Iboland does not share direct boundaries with the Bight of Bonny or the Atlantic ocean. It is even these 4 states that should be laying claims to the Portuguese name Biafra but they are not. Period.

Strawberries takes about 70 days for the crop to mature and produce the first fruits. But because the fruits are highly perishable (stays fresh for 4-5 days after harvesting), it is advisable to start looking for market early enough to avoid incurring losses.
Demand is readily available in major urban markets especially among green-grocery suppliers. You can also access a larger market by marketing to companies like eatery, supermarket and fruit sellers that are in a very good location and major supermarket chains. In that case, you will require to invest in good packaging and get accreditation from The right Board.

David Adeleke's paternal grandmother is an indigene of Akwete in Abia State. Akwete folks are part of the Ndoki people whose lands extend into Rivers State. She got married to David's paternal grandfather in Enugu when they both worked there in the Nursing profession. She passed on in 2009 and that was when I first got to know that the Adeleke's, especially the more popular late Senator Isiaka Adeleke had an Abia State-born mother.

As a result of the exactly 2 years and a half, July 1967- January 1970 Nigerian Civil War, the Adeleke patriarch from Ede in Osun State relocated to Ibadan with his wife and all his children (who all spoke fluent Ibo) due to the fact that the bearded rebel leader told all non-Easterners to leave the East. On relocating in 1967 from Enugu to Ibadan, the Adeleke kids then had to start learning how to speak their Yoruba language at home and in school.

It was providence that brought them back home to Yorubaland in 1967, otherwise they would have been cut off from their paternal culture and not learned fluent Yoruba language.

David's late mother (Imade Adeleke) is from Edo State. She was a very beautiful and intelligent woman and she passed on at just 39 years.

Igbos are the biggest enemies of the South South, all that fake love you show us only happens when you need our help to escape your Fulani masters and Yoruba tormentors. Igbos always claimed they voted for GEJ, yes you did, but Ijaws are not fools, we know you supported GEJ because of your hatred for Yorubas, not because you love us.

Igbo political character, motive and motto has always been "Anyone but Yorubas". Igbos will always go in the direction that destroys Yoruba political interests. This was the only reason you supported GEJ; but later it was still the same Igbos that ruined the GEJ govt and made other Nigerians to despise our great Ijaw son and vote him out.

Now that no Yoruba or South West is contesting for Senate Presidency, only South South, Igbos are showing their true colors and exposing their hatred as usual by maintaining a political stance that if Igbos can't get Senate Presidency, then their Northern masters should have it. Typical slaves with their wicked and hateful spirits.

How many times have Igbos been Senate President since 1999? But greed and hatred won't allow you wicked tribe to support others genuinely. It is the turn of the South South to have the Senate Presidency in Nigeria whether Igbos like it or not.

You claim to love South South, always attaching yourselves to us by force with fake love, but now when there's no Yoruba candidate contesting to direct your hatred on, you expose your true colors as the enemies of the South South.

Igbos were the biggest enemies of the South South during the era of regional government; Igbos were the most wicked enemies of the South South region during the civil war, commiting all kinds of wicked atrocities and evil against our men, women and children - we have not forgotten this; and now in 2023 Igbos are the biggest problem for South South to win Senate Presidency. We will not forget this wickedness.

Don't worry, when the time is ripe, you Igbos should come and beg South South for Presidency votes, and we will remind you about how you worked tirelessly against the emergence of a bonafide illustrious South South son, H.E. Godswill Akpabio. And like his name states, Godswill, let me tell you it is GOD'S WILL that Akpabio will become Senate President at this time and there's nothing you Igbo saboteurs can do about it. undecided

I hope you won't come here to shout ''islamization of Nigeria'' o.

Yari is a northern muslim and part of the reasons pbat is backing akpabio is to balance the apple cart seeing that he -akpabio- is a christian and a southerner!

Unfortunately, the ppl that shd support akpabio the most, seeing that he's a fellow se/ss bloda are the ones supporting Yari.

Tomorrow, the same ppl will open their mouth waaa and say 'islamization' as if they're not part of the cause.

It's actually being filled by immigrants from Europe, especially non-EU, and from Nepal, Kazakhstan and South Africa.

Indians and Pakistanis immigrants tend to go to school where they learn to become UK prime minister.
Nepal, SA, etc... That's insightful.
Indeed, Indians and Pakistanis tend to gravitate towards the STEM fields and the corporate world OR go into entrepreneurship.
