which answer is uncomfortable?
You are sounding like a girl.
The society as a whole oppress men if 10 girls and 3 boys are in bus traveling and police stop the bus what will happen to the boys and girls?
I don't deal with emotional stunts. stick to the topic.
I don't know what will happen.
It depends on what the police are looking for. Guns or cultists? the men
will be targeted but if they are looking for prostitutes, only the women are targeted.
I am sure you already know why.

It is the same thing that happens to black suspects in the US.
But in their case, their oppressors are mostly whites and they can point fingers.
However

You see nothing is really black and white as you think it is.

If men and women are in the same room and something goes missing who will be the prime suspect?
I don't know really. For a neutral object, it is the men because it is common
sense to suspect risk takers in such situation.
But if it is a gendered item. The right gender will be targeted first
before others.

You see if I go to a farm and found all the crops destroyed, I won't suspect cheese hawkers, it is herdsmen
with cows that will be my primary suspect.

Do I really need to explain how this work?
Don't you do something similar every day?

If a woman shout and accuse a man of something who will be automatically believed?
Stop using generic examples.
In Nigeria, the accuser is mostly believed by the mob.
If someone shouts "thief" in the market, you will be lynched regardless
of the accuser's gender. That is how it works.
Perhaps, you have a specific example in mind?

Who slap the opposite gender in public and gets cheered on?
So many missing information.
Who cheers such a person?
What is their relationship?

You may protest that is how things are. Humans operate based on hierarchy even if
we pretend not to. It is this hierarchy that determines primal reaction to conflict judgment.
If a senator slaps a fellow, very few will care but the case will be different if a laborer was
abused.

Mention one way women are stereotyped and oppressed in the society.
This is getting ridiculous. Asking this question is itself a big problem because it shows you cannot see what
it is in front of you.
You don't know about the
slut/olosho tag
weak
Too emotional
irrational
dumb
and so on.

A man, right from birth knows that nobody gives a fúck about him so he hustle and society brainwash him to spend the money on women but the minute a woman is able to do a little thing herself she becomes a feminist and start talking down men and accusing them of oppression.
I don't know if you are raised in a family or on the street but I know from birth that
several people care about me but society doesn't owe me anything aside normal social
behaviors from others.
Your problem may be that you cherish people's approval too much and have become
slave to it in the process.
Nobody is brainwashed to spend on women. They willingly do it to get what they want.
When it happens, it is pure capitalism.
If I may ask, how were you brainwashed to spend on women and who did the brainwashing?

The way these fools shout girl child nonsense you'd think that schools don't admit girls whereas most universities have far more girls than boys.
The fool Hillary Clinton, based all her presidential campaign and manifesto on girl child and women right forgetting that USA is made up of both males and females. Imagine if Donald Trump as a man now decide to gear all his policies towards only the progress of men. All female politicians only talk about the female gender, now imagine if all male politicians focused on men.
Women are too selfish, they don't deserve any form of political power. The West started regressing the moment women entered their politics
This is enough
So many lies and distortion in one post.
The man who claimed men are more oppressed is also angry that women are
entering politics. What an irony!

Let us assume you normally pick people along the way to work to help them.
Now picture yourself driving along a narrow path at night in the rain and you spot 4 people waving
you down.
Who are you more likely to stop and pick 4 men or 4 women?
How about your friends, who are they more likely to wait for?
Do you think they are stupid for weighing their risks?

For me, I see nothing wrong with most stereotypes and I won't cry about them because it is what it is.

True oppression involves unreasonable deprivation from what others get from similar scenario
or forcing someone to do what they don't want.
He didn't allow me to play with his bike is not oppression, it is an individual choice.
Any stereotype that doesn't limit finance, freedom or power should be trivial matter
in this part of the world.

In some parts of Igbo land, women cannot inherit their father's land.
That is oppression.
Would you want a female king in your village?
We already know the answer.

Not. Hey SARS raided our house took all the men and left the women.
Or some religious police arresting only women in some Kano streets for prostitution.
Claiming geder-based oppression in such scenarios is foolishness.
Of course, the problem needs to be solved but it won't happen through misplaced gender war
but the sweeping ban of such actions.

I understand why you hold these erroneous beliefs. Most people who live in the shadows
usually think their ideas are a reality because they have never been challenged but when
they go outside their comfort zones, they are usually shocked.

You saw the plights of underprivileged women, what of plights of underprivileged men?? Men are far more oppressed by the society than women. Men have no one to cry to when oppressed hence the rate of suicide in men is four times that of women.

The specie called man has also being faced with challenges that helped him in helping the woman to survive on this cold planet.

Caring about empowering women while forgetting about men is detrimental to the development of the society.

Caring about the girl child while ignoring the boy child will lead to a dysfunctional society.
Oppressed by who?
That is the most important question.

Who do women cry to? a god?

Okay so maybe Ekweremmadu is not that bad... I don't know.

But still, if we start treating these politicians like this, they'd know we now hold them accountable for their actions and behave accordingly. Other countries shame their politicians when they misappropriate funds too and it's certain at least 70% of Nigerian Public office holders thoroughly misappropriate funds.

Right now, they take and take and never give.

Especially South Eastern/Niger Delta Governors.
Look at how miserable the road network is in PH.. and we have a Governor called Mr. Project? I laugh!
Or is it the issue of security... Serial killers roaming the streets, people getting kidnapped in broad day light and security agencies going after any funky looking male... Yet there's a government there.

Abi na Abia State? That place that barely ever moves forward... The past governors did pratically little or nothing for the state. Smh

And then most public hospitals are a mess, yet a public office holder will have the guts to be going for medical tourism abroad.
Why can't you fix the hospitals in your country?

Abeg they should be shamed and chased home. Especially when they go for those their abroad hospital treatment. All those things you go for abroad, can be replicated here... But No, they'd rather not!

You can't mess up this place and then travel out of the country for anything... Apart from reasons that are viable to our economy.

Let's all be mad. undecided

Actually, it is about age because only those actively involved in the struggle then

You see nobody is disproving Abani's writing talent. In fact, nowhere did this
writer suggest such. If he did, I would have seen him for an ignorant fraud himself.

However, fighting for human rights is another area entirely. People have been killed,
maimed, lost family and jailed for a long time for it. So it is totally wrong and even evil to
try to ride on the wave of other's persecution to fame.

I have seen no evidence that he was jailed for activism and sentenced to death during the

About Emeagwali, he might have exaggerated or taken advantage of his claims in order to benefit monetarily from it but let us ask these simple questions:

The answer to all these is YES. So, how is he a fraud? The only issue I have with him is that he should have focused more on coming up with new inventions rather doing a self-promotion that materially benefits him. If you have not worked at the highest technical position in the US or any white dominated society you will never understand some of the challenges he might have faced. If you are not ready to "kiss" asses or lie low in front of your "white-gods" they would try to get at you. He surely couldn't fund his research by himself and would need a university or an organization/company to do that until he can do so independently. I believe he was frustrated out of the system and that likely "killed" his career. I have done that and been there so I know what it could be like. I have two joint US inventions, worked in a University and top energy company and once I was told to my face that "I have to speak like an American" to keep my job. If it were you what would you do? Go on kissing asses because you want to earn a living?

So most people who come up with this accusations don't have a clue how things world they are focusing on.
I guess you don't know much about computers and how they work.
The answers to all your questions are no and you don't have a clue about what you are saying.

[qquote]

1. Did he ever invent anything that greatly impacts the way computer communicates?
No. He never invented anything. The thing with invention is that they have a name and function
but Emeagwali cannot say what he invented and prefer obsfuscation instead.
Every piece in your PC has a name and those who invented them whether an individual or a company.

2. Did he invent what's called a supercomputer that carried out the fastest calculation at some point?
This must be the greatest joke I have read.
Supercomputers have been in existence decades before Emeagwali was born.
He did not invent supercomputers let alone the fastest because nobody can.

3. Was he ever rewarded with one of the top awards in the computer science profession?
No.
He was a member of the team that came second in a Gordon Bell prize.
We don't even know if he made any meaningful contribution to the team.

Let me tell you a secret. If someone invents something, then don't go to the media.
They file and obtain patent first and other people in their field would recognize them.

Emeagwali's claim is just as laughable as someone coming up second in an Etisalat prize for literature and then declare
themselves the inventor of fiction.
