Exactly.

Those who want to learn arabic can proceed to do so. Their lives, their business. At least now, students will have the choice to decide WHAT they want to study.

Again, great news.
Read the post very well. It says nothing about Arabic studies because Arabic studies is not a religion but a language. It is still an alternative to French another international language.

All these false accusations sgainst snakes! Me think it's just trying to give a dog a bad name so you can hang it. Did you see the snake eating your mummy's Fowl? Why not arrest the snake charge It to court and let the fowls testify. In this case you and your uncle resorted to self help, aka jungle justice. As a snake rights activist, expect a court summons and Lala will be my Chief witness. He has pictures of the innocent snake. Or is an accused not presumed innocent until proven guilty?

Education / Re: Islamic Arabic Studies In Curriculum An Islamisation Agenda - CAN Tells Osinbajo by Xtfield(m): 2:55pm On Jun 16, 2017

I guess you did not read the article.. else you would have seen that when there are no CRK and French teachers (which occurs a lot since French teachers are also few), then students have no option but to do IRK, which is not right. No student should be made to study such if they don't want to.
I read the article and the article just shows the position of CAN. I don't have to follow CAN because I have the curriculum in my office and I know what it says which is quite different from the wrong information that CAN is circulating. I am a teacher, a school proprietor. Except for if anyone misinterprets the curriculum, neither French nor Arabic is compulsory. The curriculum says you must study one local language and one international language. You have fulfilled the requirement if you study English so no one will force yo to study Arabic. Having said that, my question is, "What is wrong in studying Arabic Language?" Oh! Because the Koran is written in Arabic? So If I can speak Arabic, it automatically makes me a moslem? I pity people who reason like this.

I know you are trying to be politically correct here, but it so happens that majority of the countries that have Arabic as their lingua franca are all Islamic countries. You cannot say the same for English, French or German. It certainly cannot be considered a religion-neutral language.

Reference:

Arabic (Arabic: العَرَبِيَّة‎‎, al-ʻarabiyyah [ʔalʕaraˈbij.ja]) is a Central Semitic language complex that first emerged in Iron Age northwestern Arabia and is now the lingua franca of the Arab world. It is named after the Arabs, a term initially used to describe peoples living from Mesopotamia in the east to the Anti-Lebanon mountains in the west, in northwestern Arabia, and in the Sinai peninsula.
Algeria (Arabic: الجزائر‎‎ al-Jazāʾir) (Tamazight is the other official language (minority), French is used in education, daily life and business)
Bahrain (Arabic: البحرين‎‎ al-Baḥrayn)
Comoros (Arabic: جزر القمر‎‎ Juzur al-Qamar) (Comorian and French are the other official languages)
Djibouti (Arabic: جيبوتي‎‎ Djībūtī) (French is the other official language)
Egypt (Arabic: مصر‎‎ Miṣr)
Iraq (Arabic: العراق‎‎ al-ʿIrāq) (Kurdish is the other official language (minority))
Jordan (Arabic: الأردن‎‎ al-ʾUrdun)
Kuwait (Arabic: الكويت‎‎ al-Kuwayt)
Lebanon (Arabic: لبنان‎‎ Lubnān) (French has a special status)
Libya (Arabic: ليبيا‎‎ Lībyā)
Mauritania (Arabic: موريتانيا‎‎ Mōrītānyā)
Morocco (Arabic: المغرب‎‎ al-Maġrib) (Tamazight is the other official language (minority), French is used in education, daily life and business)
Oman (Arabic: عمان‎‎ ʿUmān)
Palestine (Arabic: فلسطين‎‎ Filasṭīn)
Qatar (Arabic: قطر‎‎ Qaṭar)
Saudi Arabia (Arabic: المملكة العربية السعودية‎‎ al-Mammlaka al-ʿArabiyyah as-Saʿūdiyyah)
Somalia (Arabic: الصومال‎‎ aṣ-Ṣūmāl) (Somali is the other official language)
Sudan (Arabic: السودان‎‎ as-Sūdān) (English is the other official language (minority))
Syria (Arabic: سوريا‎‎ Sūryā)
Tunisia (Arabic: تونس‎‎ Tūnis) (French is used in education, daily life and business)
United Arab Emirates (Arabic: الإمارات العربيّة المتّحدة‎‎ al-ʾImārāt al-ʿArabiyyah al-Muttaḥidah)
Yemen (Arabic: اليمن‎‎ al-Yaman)
Nobody is being forced to study Arabic in Nigeria. It is optional. It is an elective just like French. Why is CAN objecting to those interested in studying Arabic from doing so? Why are they deliberately misinforming the public by equating Arabic Language with Islamic studies when they are two different subjects? By the way, If I was younger than I am now, I would have loved to study the language so I can read the Koran and Hadith in the original language they were written. Maybe then I will be able to get across the message of Christ to my moslem neighbors more effectively. There is nothing wrong in seeking knowledge.

OZAOEKPE:

Why introduce Arabic when you know its a secular country.... You need to open your eyes and see that these people are pursuing their demonic agenda to sell this country to their moon god
Arabic is a language in the same mould as English, French, German, Hebrew, Chinese, Japanese, Yoruba, Igbo, Hausa, Ebira, Twi, Efik, and so on. Arabic language is not the same as Islamic Studies. It is not a new subject in the curriculum. It has always been there. It's just more popular in the North than the South. The Christian leaders are just playing on the ignorance and gullibility of the average Southern Christian.
That the Koran was written in Arabic does not make it an Islamic language. Arabic is the language of Arabs. The Bible that many of us are used to is written in English Language. Will it be right for anyone to advocate the scrapping of the study of English Language in Nigeria because it is a Christian Language? Let leaders understand that they are accountable to God and so shun all forms of sensationalism.
Now coming to the new syllabus, it is called Religion and National Values. The syllabus is designed in such a way that it fuses Religious studies with Social Studies, Civics and Security Education into one. The syllabus has a Christian Religious Studies option for Christians and Islamic Religious Studies option for Moslems. So I find it hard to comprehend the objection of the Christian leaders.
Now before you crucify me, let me clearly say that I am a Christian, of the Pentecostal fold. I own and run a school so I am very conversant with the syllabus and I do not see anything wrong with it.

This is really simple. The child is wearing his school's sportswear. Let the Ondo State Police contact the Ebonyi State command, give them the name of the school. Ebonyi state command should get in touch with the Ministry of Education to locate the school. Once they get to the school, the boy's parents will easily be located. But Police will not do this because the parents must come to Akure to settle.

Religion / Re: My Pastor Ordered Me Out Of The Church During Sunday Service by Xtfield(m): 4:14pm On May 28, 2017
edidiongmichael:
What Happened To Me On Sunday Service In Church

What's your candid view on this?

Recently I joined a church, I know how to play piano but not really well. The church has a standard pianist that plays literally on every church's event. When they discovered I knew how to play, they gave me the opportunity to be playing at least 2 times a month. Honestly, I didn't see myself as a church worker because I've never been to their meeting before. I only play when they tell me to otherwise I stay at the congregation. Last Sunday, I wore a shirt with a suit trouser and a sandals to church, then I wasn't expected to tuck in my shirt with a sandals. When I got to church, the pastor ordered me out of the church to tuck in before coming inside and instructed the ushers to not let me in until I tucked in my shirt. The church was still on and I got so ashamed and embarrassed. Everybody's eyes were on me during that time.

As confused as I was, I angrily left the church that moment to another nearby church.

Then I started thinking, Do we really have to tuck in our shirts to show how holy we are in church? What do you think had prompted the pastor to order me out? Do Christians have a dressing code? Will I be judged on the final day for letting loose my shirt to church? What's your view on this?
Christians do not have a dress code, but it's good to dress decently. Tucking in your shirt surely adds to your decency. I wont allow my students go about with flying shirts. Most employers wont allow it too. If I were, you, I would have gone out, tuck in my shirt and come in to continue to enjoy my blessings. The m,an who ordered you out was your Pastor, your teacher. He is an authority God has placed over you. Going away means rejecting his authority and by implication, God's own authority. His actions (no matter how bad it may seem) may be a test from God of how broken you are. David said, "Let the righteous smite me, it shall be to me like a sweet smelling ointment on my body". You should have obeyed him and allow God to convict him if he was too harsh on you. God bless you.
