Nairaland General17 Things You Absolutely Need To Stop Doing In Order To Make Your Life Amazing by Yarnvibes(op): 6:11am On May 06, 2016
The best way to stay miserable is by avoiding change. If you want to see improvements in your life, then you need to make changes in your life.

If you want to find greater happiness in 2015, consider these 17 things you need to stop doing:

1. Comparing yourself to others

Someone is always going to be better than you, and that’s OK. The only person you need to compete with is yourself. If you are better than you were before, then you are on the right track.

2. Waiting for the right moment

Stop waiting. Make this the right moment. Join a dating site, take a college course, ask for forgiveness, sign up for a marathon, give up a bad habit. The timing is never going to be perfect, so you just have to take a leap of faith and move forward.

3. Spending time with people who hurt you

Don’t waste your time on people who make you feel bad about yourself. Fill your life with friends and family who uplift and bring out the best in you. Toxic relationships aren’t worth it.

4. Judging others

So a person looks a little different or says something you don’t agree with. You have no idea who they are, or what they’ve been through. Who are you to judge? The world is full of people who hate and hurt. What we really need is a world full of people who love and care for one another.

5. Running away from your problems

Your challenges aren’t going to go away until you face them. It might be hard, and it’s going to push you to your limits, but you will come out a better person because of it.

6. Putting your own needs on the back burner

You can only give so much to other people before you break. In the midst of taking care of your family, responsibilities and job, don’t forget to take time to take care of yourself. Get a manicure, take a nap and go out for a girl’s night.

7. Trying to be someone you’re not

Judy Garland says it best: “Always be a first-rate version of yourself and not a second-rate version of someone else.” People love the real you.

8. Being scared to make mistakes

Nobody has ever made it through life without making mistakes. It’s going to happen, so don’t paralyze yourself.

9. Trying to buy happiness

When people talk about the things that made them the most happy in life, they always include two things: their spouse and their kids. It’s not their car or the endless stuff they accumulate. It is their relationships. Money can buy fleeting happiness, but not lasting joy.

10. Missing out

It’s easy to get sucked into your phone, but sometimes you just need to put Facebook away and start living in the moment with the people around you.

11. Being a pushover

Stand up for yourself. If someone isn’t treating you right, call them out on it. You deserve love and respect, and it’s perfectly fine to ask for it. Learn to say “no,” and stand by your decisions.

12. Being too busy

Don’t let your life be defined by your to-do list. These days, it’s not hard to fill up your schedule with endless lessons, meetings, obligations, and commitments, but it’s also OK to have a day off.

13. Blaming other people for your problems

When you allow other people’s actions to dictate your life, you give them the power. Don’t be submissive to your situation.

14. Relying on others to make you happy

There is only one person in this world who is in charge of making you happy, and that is yourself. Relying on other people to always bring you joy is risky business.

15. Doubting yourself

You CAN do it — don’t let anybody tell you otherwise. It doesn’t matter how difficult or extraordinary the challenge, you have the ability to succeed. Believe in yourself and trust that the talents and knowledge you have will get you where you want to go.

16. Eating out excessively

Unless, of course, you really want to pack on the pounds. Eating out is expensive and unhealthy. Save yourself some money and calories and make yourself a meal at home instead.

17. Being complacent with your life

Don’t be content with something you’re not happy about! If you don’t like your job, then get a new one. If your marriage is on the rocks, then sign up for therapy. You have the power to change the things that you don’t like.

Properties5 Abnormal Things Lagos Landlords Do Often by Yarnvibes(op): 5:46am On May 05, 2016
Some Lagos landlord see themselves as demi-gods, formulating rules that only favour them. A lot of Nigerians spend almost all they earn on rent and food, yet some landlords are hell-bent on increase their rents monthly or yearly as the case maybe.

Tenants in Lagos go through a lot at the hands of these type of landlords and the landlords more often than not get away with their excesses because there are no stringent rules holding them accountable. For some who have experienced some of the unconventional things landlords in Lagos do, this piece by Yarnvibes would only take you down memory lane…

Lock your door with Padlock: You will be so shocked to return home from work one stressful day and find your door locked with a padlock other than the one you used in the morning before leaving and BOOM!!! it hits you in the face – your good-old-landlord came calling and just had to do something to make you feel worthless just because your rent is due in two weeks.

Leech: You would probably need a sharp tool to unplug them from your stuff. These kind of landlords can borrow anything from their tenant even up to salt. You would just be signing yourself into his trap, the day you refuse to lend him.

Hike rents: A Lagos landlord might as well be tired of seeing your face every morning and would personally decide that the best way to send you packing is to hike the rent when your rent is due and it doesn’t matter whether you’re a new tenant or not, because no one will hold him responsible, its his house afterall.

Greed: Some landlords would be right on time to collect their rents but would completely disappear when they have to fix something in the house. They expect you to pay the rent and fix something that naturally should be their responsibility.

Intrude: An apartment after being paid for, for the duration of the rent should be the tenant’s but some landlords especially those that live in the same house make it their duty to interfere in everything that concerns the tenant. They monitor every single detail that it becomes almost impossible for the tenants to breathe without being criticised.

What do you thinkhuh

CelebritiesWished I Had Gotten Married And Had Kids At 25!’ – Ini Edo’s Birthday Msg At 34 by Yarnvibes(op): 2:56pm On Apr 24, 2016
https://gist.mp3bullet.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/iniedo-1.jpg

“My name is Iniobong, meaning God’s time. God’s time is always the best. My life is planned and directed by He who created me. Reason I can never be bothered.” (sic)

That was one of her posts on Instagram. Playful, down-to-earth and friendly, this Nollywood actress said she attended a convent in her secondary school days. But the now 34-year-old Ini Edo is far from being a nun!

Sexy, curvy and with looks that would make any man drool, she has held her fans (foes too) in awe of her skills.

A graduate of Theatre Arts, Ini, who was married to US-based businessman, Philip Ehiagwinani, thought as a child that she would be a lawyer or a newscaster. She would not have fitted well into any of those vocations, at least not with those curves she flaunts.

Her marriage failed. The dramas that followed would fill a book. According to her, it was due to, “irreconcilable differences.”

Sexy Ini moved on. Her lifestyle changed—new house, new businesses, new looks and she hobnobs with the wealthy and mighty.

She says about her looks, “I love to look very feminine and elegant, casual but sensual. I love sexy too. I love good handbags, I spend money on bags, and I have tons of good leather and designer bags. The weirdest thing you would find in my handbag is a hand sanitizer.”

Still single, she did not hesitate to post this on IG lately: “It doesn’t matter how many times you get hurt or let down by the people you love, hold on to your true self because God knows every tiny detail of your heart, as long as it’s pure, in “God’s time” he will come through for you and all of your setbacks will become your stepping stone and when God says yes, who de***** can say no?(sic)

Why is sexy Ini Edo, who has almost a million followers on Instagram, single?

Simply put. Guys are always afraid of settling down with a woman like her! Many reasons abound—she is an actress, has money to throw around, she would not be submissive, every man desires her, she will not obey her spouse… etc.

But to marry a girl like Ini is easy—just know her likes, dislikes, be tolerant and know that she is wanted by millions of fans out there. After walking her down the aisle, let her remain a star, while you lie low, face your business, ignore comments and make sure she gets pregnant every year like Omotola Jalade, who had her four babies in less than five years!

At 34, she wished and said in one of her interviews, “I would have gotten married and finished having kids before 25.”

CelebritiesBanky W Offers Advise To Colleagues In The Music Industry by Yarnvibes(op): 11:30am On Apr 21, 2016
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/Banky-W-NEC.jpg

Samsung ambassador, Banky W, drew a bright reflection concerning Nigerian music while speaking at the at the 4th edition of the Nigerian Entertainment Conference held on April 20, 2016, at Landmark Event Centre, Oniru, Lagos.

According to Banky, the music structure in Nigeria requires a lot of re-organising, so that benefits can be properly distributed.

He said, “I think that the structure of the music business in general needs a lot of fixing in Nigeria. We all need to come together and fix the structure. Everybody in the industry value change.”

“Yes the artistes record, the producer should be getting money on the back-end. They should be getting royalties for every of their music that’s played.”

“I always like to use 9ice’s Gongo Aso album as example. In my opinion, it’s one of the albums that’s ever come out of Nigeria in our history.”

“I think the producer that worked on it, Id Cabasa should be getting royalty from the album. His children’s children should be eating from every music he has produced.”

His comments addressed the obvious challenges concerning the Nigerian music scene, which has seen poor management render it to be a shadow of its true potential.

Banky W, also known as ‘Mr Capable’ is a RnB singer known for popular hit songs like “Capable”, “Strong Thing”.

He broke into the Nigerian music industry with a remix of Rihanna’s “Umbrella” hit song, which he titled “Ebutte Metta”.

Politics5 Governors Who Will Likely Contest For The Senate In 2019 by Yarnvibes(op): 10:02am On Apr 18, 2016
Nigerian governors are perhaps the most powerful and influential political bloc in the country.

The power and influence wielded by an incumbent governor in this country is better imagined than talked about.

Having enormous power and influence, most governors tend to remain relevant in the scheme of things after their tenure ends.

While some of them position themselves for a federal appointment, others head to the Senate in what has now become a merry-go round for these politicians.

At the moment, there are over a dozen former governors in the Nigerian Senate.

While some political watchers argue that the experience of these governors cannot be wished away having presided over a state, others say the governors ought to take a bow after eight years in the saddle in their respective states.

Yarnvibes.com lists five governors whose tenure will end in 2019 and will likely run for elections into the Senate in their respective states.

Read below:

1. Ibikunle Amosun (Ogun): He is not new to the Senate having served as a senator representing Ogun Central Senatorial District from 2003 to 2007. The 58-year old will most likely head back to the red chamber after his tenure ends in 2019. He has a firm grip on the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state despite the return of his political arch rival and former governor, Olusegun Osoba. Amosun will likely have an easy ride if he decides to move to Abuja.
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkytd6ucab4luu4.70c28456.jpg

2. Abiola Ajimobi (Oyo): His political journey is similar to that of Amosun. He left the private sector to contest for the Oyo South Senatorial District election in 2003. In 2007, both men contested for the governorship elections in their states under the banner of the defunct All Nigeria People’s Party (ANPP), a bid they both lost. As they complete their tenure in 2019, it is expected that they will both head back to the Senate.
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt33a48akr9i2g.64becb7f.jpg

3. Kashim Shettima (Borno): He is a rising political star in the North east region of the country. He has been hailed by many for the way and manner he has handled the pressure of insurgency in his state. His resilient spirit, outspokenness and achievements even in the face of terrorism gives him an edge in any electoral contest. Shettima is in the class of politicians who will be pressured by his own people to represent them in the Senate.
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkytkmba07c36pc.9ead3f03.jpg

4. Abdul’aziz Abubakar Yari (Zamfara): It is not for nothing that he is the leader of Nigeria’s Governors Forum. Yari who is a former member of the House of Representatives, is one politician who has paid his dues as the chief executive of Zamfara state. Due to his intimidating political influence, some of his die-hard loyalists say he is bigger than the Senate seat. But it is likely Yari will give the Senate a shot come 2019.

5. Umaru Tanko Al-Makura (Nasarawa): He is one politician who should be hailed for standing firm in the face of federal-backed intimidation as the lone governor in the defunct Congress for Progressives Congress (CPC). At 63, Al Makura has seen it all in politics. Having served as a youth leader in a political party and a member of the constitution assembly in the 1980s, his loyalists say his experience is needed at the federal legislature.

CelebritiesCheck Out The Billionaires Who Are The Biggest Sponsors Of Music In Nigeria by Yarnvibes(op): 8:14pm On Apr 17, 2016
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/young-360x335.jpg

The music business is a money-gulping endeavor and as such, admits only the financially buoyant less the artiste becomes broke and signs up for bankruptcy. Many an artiste and many a label have ran down as they couldn’t keep up with expenses—cost of production, recording, promotion, distribution, branding, even photo and video shoots.

In the seventies, eighties and nineties, men and women with fat pockets were known to sponsor talented acts – King Sunny Ade, Chief Ebenezer Obey, Oliver de Coque, Kollington Ayinla etc – who in gratitude sang their praises in highlife, juju, waka and fuji songs.

Here are seven sponsors of contemporary Nigerian music:

1. IB Dende
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt45l6l00qn17.383e7e78.jpg
Born Ibrahim Egungbohun, 45-year-old IB Dende (Customs-licensed clearing agent and hotelier) is one of the biggest funders of contemporary music in the country. Chief IB Dende’s generosity has extended to Pasuma, Olamide, Phyno, Lil Kesh, Small Doctor—with the ‘ain’ creator famously singing “IB Dende Olorun fa e l’owo s’oke (God will lift you up)” on hit single Arrest.

2. Ayiri Emami
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt643cohigaje.1a3d974e.jpg
Warri billionaire Ayiri Emami, the Akulagba 1 of Warri, was famously referenced by Akwa Ibom comedian/singer/dancer, MC Galaxy, on the ubiquitous dance track Nek Unek. Oil magnate Ayiri who had a stint as a music artiste during his come-up has lavished his goodwill (including financial resources) on Nigerian artistes such as 2Face, D’banj, MC Galaxy, Oritsefemi, Iyanya, Majek Fashek, etc. He even showed his benevolence featuring in Omawumi’s 2014 Megbele video in honour of her father.

3. Baddy Oosha
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt3rpuo3p45lt.84ab64ee.jpg
Self-titled “street lion”, Baddy Oosha has been referenced by not a few Nigerian entertainers—name-checked on different occasions by those whom his generous pockets have flowed to. Badmus Akeem O. first got showered with praises in 2012 when rapper Reminisce rapped on smash hit 2 Mushh. Olamide, Lil Kesh, Small Doctor are others who have found his kindness. Recently, he decided to try his luck on the mic.

4. Sir Emeka Offor
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt3i4qookfv0h.9d26bc7f.jpg
The fifty-six-year-old founder and executive vice chairman of Chrome Group, a Nigerian conglomerate with interests in oil, biofuels, insurance, dredging and logistics is well known for his philanthropic gestures. In 2013, he donated one million dollars towards the eradication of polio and two years later reportedly donated ten million dollars to fight river blindness. Towards music, he has been benevolent in the development of stars, and so it wasn’t a surprise when KCee sang his praises on Ogadinma and Phyno on Nme Nme. Highlife artiste Flavour has also praised his generosity.

5. MC Oluomo
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt2oqnulnmguug.c8ab64c9.jpg
The National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) leader in Oshodi, Lagos, Musiliu Akinsanya aka MC Oluomo came to national prominence some weeks ago when he reportedly hosted a braless party to celebrate his birthday – a stunt he denied. Headies-winning pop artiste Sean Tizzle eulogized him on Momayan. KWAM 1, Pasuma, and other fuji artistes have been beneficiaries of his.

6. Opa 6ix
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt1mrdm3q9ubdo.a09067e3.jpg
Born Oluwasegun Akinola Opaogun, Opa 6ix has extended his charity towards music. Reminisce once rapped his praise: “Shout out si awon omo ni Malay waya waya, Opa 6ix” on 2Mushh. Street pop artiste Small Doctor also had thankful heart on Uzobu off his Omo Iya Teacher sophomore album. Like Baddy Oosha, Opa 6ix has delved into music recording.

7. Ateke Tom
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/vllkyt659335q5sas.201e203f.jpg
Ateke Tom at the head of his militant group

On March 26, 2016, the Nigerian music scene received with pleasant surprise the news of reconciliation between members of the defunct Plantashun Boiz spearheaded by ex-Niger Delta militant, Chief Ateke Tom. Former member, Faze posted a video on his Instagram page with the caption: “Just yesterday. When plantashun Boiz turn (sic) to men. Thank you Chief comrade Ateke Tom.” Aside from 2Face, Faze and BlackFace; KCee, MC Galaxy, Iyanya, Cynthia Morgan and Harrysong have benefitted from his right hand of fellowship.

Celebrities5 Type Of Nigerian Artistes That Managers Will Never Work With by Yarnvibes(op): 2:23pm On Apr 17, 2016
One of the most frequently asked questions I get from upcoming artistes is “Will you be my manager?” And many times I tell them to hold on, that a manager will find them. The answer usually rubs them the wrong way, but it’s the truth.

Managers are talent scouts in their own right, and it’s their job to seek new talent and find the right fit for their representation. Just because you think you’re ready to have someone manage your career doesn’t necessarily mean that they will necessarily see the same value in you and your project as you see in yourself.

Every manager looks for a different recipe in artists, of course, but these are five types of artists that any good manager will never work with.

1. The dreamer, not the doer

We all know these artists – the ones who talk large, and details the things they want to achieve in a very unrealistic amount of time. They never have a plan or hard work experience to back up those claims, nor what they wan to achieve. No real manager is interested in artists with inflated goals and no intention of getting their hands dirty to do the hard work required to get there.

Keep in mind that the manager is there to guide the career, create and maintain relationships, get you involved in the right things at the right place at the right time, and lead you to making many successful career moves to set you up for years of growth and prosperity. But the manager is certainly not interested in doing his or her job and yours, or doing the heavy lifting alone. If a musician starts talking a lot of stuff without doing the legwork to back up the efforts they’re making independently toward those goals, that’s an immediate red flag to a manager to dump you.

2. The artist with the wrong goals

A manager and an artiste have to agree on common goals. There are very few things more frustrating than to hear “To be famous” when a music business professional asks an artiste for goals.

That’s a wrong answer. That’s not a real business aspiration; that’s an inevitable side effect of being incredibly successful and known for your talent, but not the ultimate end goal that anyone working with you desires to hear.

A manager wants you to have a tangible goal in mind, like “sell out my tour” or “have my record go platinum,” not a vain, response that signals that you’re working towards something that would be destined for nothing more than a fleeting moment of controversy on Pulse. Furthermore, that’s not what any manager wants on their resume, let alone having their professional name attached to it.

3. The Guy Who Complains

This is the artist that’s just never happy; it’s always “too this” or “too that.” A manager is not an assistant or a servant. The manager’s job is to head your career and build and represent your brand. They don’t ever want to get in bed with someone who needs looking after constantly. Unpredictability and irrationality are two very dangerous things in an artist. Managers want to know that when they set their clients up with an opportunity, they’ll do their best to perform as promised with no strings attached. If an artist shows any telltale signs of being a “complainant” early on, you can pretty much count on that being the end of the relationship right there. How you treat the people around you, how you react to things not going as planned, and the way you present yourself all come into consideration when managers want to see if you’re the right fit for them.

4. The One with too much ‘Wahala’

Sure, everyone has issues, but are you an artist who lets those issues follow you into your professional environment? When I mean issues, I mean a lot of different things – for example, the teenage singer whose parent is overly involved and detrimentally uneducated in the business, the aspiring singer whose boyfriend is always hanging around influencing decisions negatively and fueling emotions distracting from her work, the artist with deeply rooted issues that result in destructive behavior… and many more. Even the artiste who always wants his dog in the studio during recording. Good managers can sniff this stuff out right away, and if it seems like they would have to spend more time babysitting you or playing your therapist than being your partner in business, you probably won’t hear from them again.

5. The artist with a false sense of entitlement

Last but not least, the artist with the overly inflated ego and underwhelming talent is the last thing a manager wants on a roster. Confidence is great and absolutely necessary for any artist, but having a rational understanding of your value and the ability to be self-aware is a very important determining factor of whether or not a manager will want to take you on. A thirst to learn and grow is appealing, but a false sense of entitlement, no matter how good you are, doesn’t make anyone want to play on your team.

NYSC6 Things Anyone Who Just Finished NYSC Will Relate With by Yarnvibes(op): 3:12am On Apr 17, 2016
https://all9ja.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/04/12519392_560074240836384_2103410862_n_gltrends.com_.jpg

Now that they have hung the jungle boots and folded there khaki away, life has just begun as a Nigerian graduate. You know all the dreams and ideas, they had while in school and waiting to hit the ground running with after NYSC, well, the time has come to make it happen. Your destiny is in your hands now and you have o make the best of your time – And because life doesn’t always go through the pattern we dream of it, Yarnvibes has put together 6 things most of these ex corp members will definitely go through…

Getting ready to trek: We all know the jobs in Nigeria are fewer than the available number of graduates hence the struggle to grab the few available ones are too real for those people who have no ‘oga at he top’. This isn’t the endurance trek -NO! This is the one where you deck up in your best shirt, skirt/trousers and the traditional brown envelope, head out early to make that appointment for your first interview and subsequent ones or to submit our cv anywhere and everywhere just in case there is an opening.

Parents don’t care anymore: Now you are going to realize that your parents who provided for your every single need back in the university, will no longer do. they are either focusing on your siblings in school or easing off the stress of child rearing. So, all they do now is pray and hope you get a job, so you too can come and take care of them.

Nigeria as a student is different from Nigeria as a graduate: Now you are going to realize that life is not a bed of roses. Things have changed and you are now your own boss. Life is going to step on your toes, there will be times when it looks like your dreams will never come true or that God doesn’t answer prayers anymore but you are going to gave to keep moving.

Uncles don’t really care: Sadly, you are going to find that, that uncle who ave you a pat on the back and said ‘send me your cv when you graduate so I place you somewhere’, would now tell you that he has very little power to do anything for you. The sadder part, their child who also just passed out of NYSC the same time like you, wouldn’t have a problem getting a job.

Bills won’t pay themselves: Now you are now an adult. Like your parents say ‘we won’t always be there for you, a time will come when you have to stand upon your own too feet.” Now that time has come, and you are standing on your own two feet without a job in a sight and bills o pay but keep strong, there is God.

No more allowee: This is the moment where you realize that the constant N19k which you were paid as a corper and took for granted, will no longer come your way. This won’t matter to you, if you get a job immediately (which we hope you do) but would start to look like the whole world is against you, when you check your account balance and the little you saved up is about to finish.

And the only question on your mind is “We thought Buhari was going to give unemployed graduates 5k, where is it nowhuh” LOL!!!!!!!!!

Nairaland GeneralEXPOSED! Popular Pastor Buried 3 Beautiful Ladies Alive On His Church Foundation by Yarnvibes(op):
The bible says by their fruits we shall know them. Ladies and gentlemen, miracles seekers, signs and wonders seekers, be very careful where you go.

Those men you call prophets are nothing but occult boys. Be very careful where you're looking for miracles. God is a God of everywhere, pray yourself out and stop running to occult boys for miracles. None of them are prophets, they're nothing but devil servants.

Now see his life, the news is everywhere. He buried 3 live people on his church foundation. The shame is upon him. My African sisters and brother, please be careful whom you call your prophet. They're nothing but money seekers. Be careful where you go for your so called miracles.
