Without a bank acount, you can't have a BVN (bank verification number), but you can have an NIN. They are 2 separate numbers that serve 2 different purposes.
NIN and BVN can be linked for those that have bank accounts, but there will always be a need for a number not linked to one's bank account and that is the NIN.

It wasn't working before, but many people have used it this evening and it's fine. I actually used it few minutes ago. The problem with going direct to the bank is the crowd, so hopefully more people can get it done without going there.

You beat me to creating this topic. GTB has been bombarding me with messages to link my NIN with my bank account on their website. I've navigated the entire website carefully but there's no link where one can do that. They said one can dial *737*20*NIN# which I tried and was not successful. Anybody that has successfully linked their NIN to accounts should kindly put us through.

It's on the homepage, I just linked successfully few minutes ago.

Meanwhile, the NIMC app for NIN is not working well, same with the website, email too non functional. For goodness sake, they should make it easy for citizens to comply with the directive.

I was hopeful when I saw that the new DG, Engr Bisoye Coker-Odusote was a young person, different from the usual older ones they put there, but haven't seen her impact at all.

That's commendable, it shows leadership to take accountability for your actions. I hope all his aides have taken note of his statement before they resume the blame game tomorrow and start blaming Buhari, GEJ, and even Peter Obi. WIsh him the best.
