KnowAll:you are funny, but you are actually saying the truth. I'm still wondering why those people are complainig that there is no international Airport in the south-east when there is Port Harcourt int'l Airport close to them. Is it because Rivers state is in south-south or what? ask your selves, do we have int'l Airport in the nort-east? what about north-central, do they have an int'l airport?? have they complained? They all use the int'l airports close to them that is Abuja and Kano airports; pls igbos in the south-east should use the int'l airport in PH and stop complaining. |
Sentiments apart, out of the four existing international airport, how many of them are world-class rated, how many of them are being patronized by international airlines, There are other projects i think enugu state is in dire need of which will impact positively on the lives of minors and the state should start on that rather than fighting for an elephant project based on political and tribal sentiments.
Don't mind them. Igbos are always full of political and ethnic complains. They like grumbling too much. |
Dede1:Are the Airports in the other former regional capitals (Kaduna, Ibadan & Benin) of international status?? Why tribalising the issue, as if it is only the igbos that are affected by this international airport thing. |
Ebywizzy:What is the difference between the polytechnic and Uni Technology system of education? Are all of them not geared towards technology?? Why then do they discriminate against polytechnic HND holders, and even give preference to Bsc holders even in areas where technological graduates are needed? Why?? |
Most of the international airports in Nigeria do not meet international standard, i wonder why they even call them international airports?? is it because planes fly to/fro other countries from there? That means Kaduna airport is an international one too, cos some years back they use to airlift Hajj pilgrims to/fro Jedda airport. International airports have standards more than what we are seeing here in Nigeria please. |
HND and Bsc are mere paper qualifications. |
afam4eva:Yes, Enugu is the most important city in the south-east, just as Kaduna is in the north, because both of them were regional capitals before. Kaduna too does not have an international airport, so what are you people saying? Tell your brother never to compare business activities in Enugu with that of Kano to backup you people's support for an international airport in Enugu. |
Look at this minster, Between Kano and Enugu, which of the cities have more traffic and business activities. I don't blame you, the North will just use and dump you tomorrow, the way they dumped Ernest Shonekan your brother.
Tribalism will not help us solve the problems of Nigeria. Hope you are a nigerian sha? How can you compare Enugu with Kano in terms of business activities? Kano has been a commercial city right from time while Enugu has been an administrative city, so stop making such comparison. You should be comparing cities like onitsha and Aba with Kano in terms of business activities and not Enugu. Enugu should be compared with places like Benin-city, ibadan and Kaduna. Though Kaduna was meant to be an administrative city, it has found itself between administration and business. |
dayo23:Yes they spend 5 yrs(6 months IT inclusive) to get BTech, which makes them more technologically inclined and better than the conventional Bsc graduates. But why is it very hard for people to also believe that even HND graduates who also spend 5 yrs(12 months IT inclusive) are better than the conventional Bsc graduates?? |
@manny4life Sorry about that. I was nt opposing what you posted, i was only trying to clarify the distinction between those that actually read mathematics as a course and those that apply mathematics in their own fileds. |
you want to start another argument abi?? |
@manny4life Do not start comparing Economics with mathematics please. An Economist cannot be a Mathematician (or a Statistician). Mathematicians/Mathematical Statisiticians spend their time cracking complex mathematical and statistical theories; they provide the formulas and short cuts for solving applied mathematical and statistical problems. Economist, Accountants and Business analysts, etc. can solve business and financial mathematics very well, but that does nt mean they are mathematicians. Studying Mathematics (especially Statistics) requires you to be doing proofs on existing formulas as well as discovering new formulas with sound mathematical basis rather than applications. I'm not saying they do not know the applications o, they do. that's why we have Applied Mathematicians/Statisticians that deal mostly with using existing formulas to solve applied problems rather than inventing new techniques. Thank you. |
Mathematics is very wide if you look at it carefully; and that is one of the reasons it is very difficult. Mathematical sciences comprises of Pure Maths, Applied Maths, Statistics, Computer science, Operations Research, etc. These courses are very strong courses and needs analytical reasoning to be able to understand them well. |
koko 1:Try Mathematics and see!!. you will see hell, and decide to dropout in your 100 levels. |
Mathematics is something else. it makes you think at a faster rate. but you have to be careful with it. Advance mathematics can make one run mad if one is not careful. On the other hand, Law requires you to read lengthy notes which may go well with a lot of people especially those that hate mathematics. |
Mathematics appears to be more difficult than Law, but i still believe Law on its own is not as easy as some people think. I'm a Statistician; during my school days, I was able to pass most of my maths/stats courses like Calculus, Linear algebra, DE, Statistical theory, sampling techniques, Mathematical modelling, Programming, etc easily by obeying the rules of mathematics (those rules are actually not easy). I got "A" in some of those courses. But coming to courses lake Law, International Relations, Citizenship, etc, the highest i ever got was "C". But that does not mean that Law is more difficult than Matheamtics. I believe it is what your mind and brain wants that matters. I just love figures |
Dandas Re: Fg Begins Payment Of N65,000 Monthly Allowance To Ex-militants « #23 on: Today at 12:23:12 PM » -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Not only paying them that amount, let FG go and develop that area,u will be enjoying the resources coming from their side and be using the money developing other places, leaving the pple who own the minerals resources.Give them their fair share and treat them well. They are the engine house of Nigerian economy. God put the mineral resources there; the militants are not the owners. Remember most oil companies do off-shore drilling; are you also saying that the militants own the high sea and oceans too?? |
janine000:You are not advicing me; it's the man complaining that you need to advice. I have both HND and Bsc certificates; i'm only trying to say the truth that the discrimination is uncalled for considering the skills the HND graduates possess. |
bilms:Please buy DE for 200 levels or write UME jamb and start from 100 levels; i can bet it with you it is better than going to do HND. HND will make you even more skillful than the uni grads, but it may turn you into a slave if you are not careful. Except you want to be self-employed, else go to uni and get their fucking Degree. I'm yarning from experience. |
janine000:And who told you holding a Degree determines ones success in life? |
Musmus:well said, and thanx for ur contribution. a lot of Bsc holders believe that holding a Bsc make them better than HND holders. the orientation of nigerians need to be changed from mere theoretical university education to technical and technological education, thats the only way nigeria can grow and become relevant in the world. |
@POSAKOSA1 Abuja is among and is in the north. But i wonder why they cannot have private universities in states around Abuja like kaduna, plateau, niger and nasarawa state?? |
tboy1:Do you agree with him or not? why are asking him for the course he read? Is it not obvious that poly graduates in nigeria have better skills than their uni counterparts in business-related courses, applied sciences and technology, engineering and environmental sciences?? Uni graduates are better off in courses like Arts, social sciences, sciences, medical sciences etc. most of which are not offered in the polytechnics. |
candylips:well, HND certificate has suffered so much. Let government abolish it please. |
DEJ01:Mr. man get your facts right before posting. Polytechnics were designed to produce middle level technical manpower, which is ND and not HND. The HND was later introduced to enable the polytechnics produce high-level technical manpower; and the high level technical manpower is equivalent to the high level managerial manpower produced by the universities. This makes HND and Bsc or Ba equivalent. They are never the same thing. The discrimination is uncalled for. |
@owojaiyeo you are right. Good of you. But try and go for masters, that will make you more relevant in your work place. |
canuck:Many people who are made today at one time or the other passed through the polytechnic before migrating to the university for fear of being discriminated; and that's why you dont hear so much about polytechnics producing top guys in the soceity, but they actually in one way or the other contributed in moulding some of the top people in the soceity. Remember even former president Obasanjo holds HND certificate too. My project supervisor in ABU is a PhD holder in statistics, and these are his qualifications; ND statistics & computer - katsina poly HND statistics - kadpoly PGD statistics - uni ibadan MSc statistics - uni ibadan PhD Statistics - ABU zaria He is a senior lecturer with the Department of Mathematics, Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. |
@HND-holder How far with the discrimination issue of Civil Defence?? Have you sent the circular to the minister of interior? How can a minister not be aware that HND holders should be employed as level 08 officers in thecivil service, when even other vital jobs like the armed forces take both HND and Bsc together as officers cadets?? |
can anybody with Bsc tell us the difference?? |
HND is still HND, nothing like BTech yet. continue to pray hard so that the government of yaradua will implement it. |
@diplomand You may be correct, but in Nigeria it is not like that. What you do in A-levels is similar to what you do in ND in poly. HND is much more advanced and higher than them. For you to do HND in nigeria you must have passed thru ND and that makes you as good as someone that did a Bsc course. During the ND and HND programs you offer some courses that people in the universities don't offer. I believe the polytechnic students study more than the university students in nigeria; except if the university curriculum would be jerked up. No university graduate has been able to tell us the difference between HND and Bsc. |
when will this discrimination against poly graduates end?? |
