Super1Star:Exactly. So until you and your people get to the level or league of those that have 'Broken away', do not criticise those who have achieved the same in the past because on the slavery scale, you guys are way below. Self determination is an expensive business, it is not for the faint hearted, it is for the brave. You and your people don't even come close to this. |
pansophist:You can read about him from the link below. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Godson |
ObinnaIzuora:At least us and Ojukwu fought for 3 long hard years before he fled to Abidjan. That's miles away from a tribe of cowards that can't fight for anything talkless of fleeing any where. Go and get the spine to fight first before you criticise those that have fought before. |
Super1Star:Maybe you never head about it but we did break out of Nigeria and fought to retain that freedom for 3 years. Nobody else in Nigeria can do that not even if they wanted to. |
Kastonkastroll:Don't make me laugh. You people don't have the spine to leave Nigeria. You think self determination is typing nonsense on Nairaland? The Yoruba man is a congenital coward. |
Ugomba:Yeah. His name is John Abraham Godson Chikama Onyekwere. He is an indigene of Umuahia, Abia state. He went to study in Poland many years ago but ended up settling there. He later made history as the first black person to be elected into the Polish national assembly. The first time he got up to make a speech, almost half of the all white Polish assembly got up and left |
I've got to hand it to Metuh, the man eats well. |
In over 4 thousand years of history, the much larger Igbos never attempted to 'colonise' the minority tribes around them like the Yorubas did with their Oyo empire and the Hausa/Fulani did with their sokoto caliphate. It is now that the Igbos will want to colonise them? Jokers! |
I would like the same DNA prescribed for Okorocha. |
3rdlegxxx:Oh really? 4 years after Lugard created Nigeria, Czechoslovakia broke away from the Austro-Hungarian empire in 1918 and became a sovereign nation. After many years, in 1992, the Czechs said to the Slovaks 'I want my own country' The Slovaks replied 'no worries, let's shake hands and remain friends' Both sides became the Czech Republic and The Republic of Slovakia on January 1st 1993. There was no noise making. In Africa, whenever someone says 'I want my own country' The reply is 'let's settle this with bullets!' |
Okoroawusa is a disgrace to us Igbos! How can a well managed Imo state be broke? How can an Oil producing state like Imo be broke? Okorocha must tell Imo state people exactly what he did with their money. APC chief apologist of the Igbos has ran Imo state into the ground. Change indeed! |
I think that many people were far more interested in the Buhari administration arresting some 'big names' that they forgot that Buhari should have put emphasis on how to make it impossible to steal. I have no problem with Buhari going after people from previous administrations who embezzled public money as long as he does it within the ambit of the law, however, this alone will not rid Nigeria of corruption. If anything, it will just make those currently stealing to find more ingenious ways of hiding their loot. What is Buhari doing to increase accountability, checks and balances that will make it hard for anyone to steal? |
Alikote:You and most people like you like to dance around the main issue instead of addressing it. You think this about Kanu? You think it was about Ojukwu? My people have been fighting a long time for their freedom. They fought the British in the Ekumeku wars. They fought again in Arochukwu wars. This was long before Kanu and Ojukwus fathers were even born. They fought again in the Nigerian civil war. So if these people are fighting for their freedom all this time, what is the point of keeping them? There is no need for any war and there would have been no need for it if the powers that be had asked my people "Do you want one Nigeria?". A simple referendum would have solved everything. And a referendum we still seek because it is the right of a people to choose where they belong. Taking that right away is what has caused ever war in history |
Major Chukwuka lives in Enugu while Captain Nwobosi lives in his native Obosi near Onitsha. Both men fought galantly on the Biafran side. I don't condone coup plotting especially when it is against a democratially elected government. However, it should noted that Nzeogwu and co did not strike because all was well and good with Nigeria. There was serious political problems and killings in Nigeria that arose from the 1964 elections which continued in 1965. I believe that even if Nzeogwu and co had not conducted a coup, Nigeria would have still went down the road of violence. |
I urge all those that want warri to be capital of Delta state to push for the creation of Anioma state which Anioma people have been agitating for a long time. As an Igbo man, I want Anioma to become the 6th Igbo state. |
Alikote:Yet, at the end of the day, it will still be all of you who will be begging to be in 'one Nigeria' with IPOB. |
Alikote:Ojukwu was too dead to decide what flag he got wrapped in, his wife can accept any post for this has nothing to do with her and anyone is entitled to own any property, anywhere in the world as long as they have money to buy. |
omenka:Nobody rejected Ojukwu, Ojukwus people voted massively for him. PDP rigged Ojukwu out. Later on, people like Peter Obi managed to reclaim their mandate. |
One of the few Governors in Nigeria who came to work for the people. I'm still not happy how he handled the IPOB shootings but I can't deny that he is working |
ovation232:This my home state. There is no way the people of Nnewi, the home town of the great Ojukwu, would have booed anything Biafra. It's just not possible. It's either those who came were not IPOB or that those who booed were not Nnewi indigenes. Besides, why would IPOB retreat when there are several ways of getting into Nnewi. Where they all blocked? This news is just another Lagos-Ibadan-Expressway-media report |
Ojukwu was the son of the richest man in Nigeria at the time. If Ojukwu had wanted, he would have just followed his father into business and enjoyed the rest of his life no caring anything about his people. But Ojukwu rejected his fathers money and joined the Nigerian Army as a lowly recruit! It was only after a few weeks that the British officers started wondering what an Oxford graduate like Ojukwu should be doing with army recruits, many of who could not write their own names, and sent him on an officers course to England. Like him or loath him, it would be hard for anyone to be dancing the song of 'one Nigeria' while over 50,000 of his own people were being slaughtered in broad daylight. Ojukwu did what he had to do, if I had been him, I would have done the same. |
Just look at the names of all the people that were slaughtered just so that a chief of Army staff will not be late for his appointment with an Emir. Chei! Nigeria I hail thee! |
People are asking the question why Nigeria has not worked as a nation but the answer is staring us in the face. We are running the wrong system of Government. It is impossible to bring the Yoruba/Hausa/Igbo man under a unitary system and expect any sort of progress. It's like bringing a Wolf,a Fox and a coyote together and locking them up in a house and expecting everything will be fine simply because they all belong to the Dog family, not a chance. You will come back to that house to find out that everything has been torn to pieces as all 3 animals have their own mode of operating. The best way to keep those Dogs is to section them in different parts of the house and give their areas of influence so that they can do their thing without bringing the house down. We must return to regionalism. As an Igbo man, I don't want Abuja controlling me. It is not for Abuja to develope me or fight own corruption battles for me. I want control my destiny, I want to control my coal in Enugu, I want to control my oil in Anambra, Imo,Abia and Ebonyi. I want to administer my own affairs. I want enact laws in the eastern region that reflect My aspirations as an Igbo man. I want Abuja to be a very weak centre with a ceremonial president who is commander in chief and a prime minister who is head of Government. I want Abuja to seek the permission of my region and other regions before it embarks on a detrimental economic policy that will affect me. It is only when we go back to regionalism and forget this 'unity based on oil' that things will move foward. When a region knows that there is no oil money coming and no money to steal, that's when you will see people exploring options and working hard. That's why we did well when there was no oil. When I have my region, any Igbo public holder who steals money had better leave Igboland for China because we're going to come for him big time. So, as long as we run this oppressive unitary system were we are all puppets of Abuja, were an all powerful president holds sway, were autonomy has been taken away from the people, we will have a Nigeria that will never work. We will have disenchantment, resentment, monumental corruption, lack of patriotism and even outright calls for secession. The people own the land, the land never owns the people. |
Excuzeme:But it is the Yorubas who are begging to be in 'one Nigeria' with Igbos. |
Excuzeme:A lot of people would call it cowardice for a person to be hiding behind dialogue instead of fighting for your God given right to freedom. An Igbo man is no coward. The millions that died did not die because of the stubborness of the Igbos, the died because the oppressive Nigerian state wanted force everyone to be 'one Nigeria' because of oil money. To create Nigeria, Lugard had to kill many people, to keep Nigeria one Gowon had to kill millions. The unity of Nigeria is something that has always been killing people since Lugard came and it will carry on that way until the people finally get their freedom and Nigeria is no more |
Putting him in handcuffs changes nothing. It's just a standard procedure. I think that Nnamdis arrest, detention, arraignment and handcuffing were all necessary to establish him as an authentic freedom fighter. Same way a true street guy needs street cred, Nnamdi needed authenticity. For those who think that pictures or videos of Kanu in cuffs would dampen the spirit of his supporters, it will even make it stronger. Even Olisa Metuh got more support amongst his people after pictures of him in handcuffs surfaced. I'm not worried about the charges. Awolowo was once in handcuffs, tried and convicted for treason. He later got out. Uwazuruike has been charged with treason more times than I can remember, he is a free man today and still pursuing his agenda. Nnamdi Kanu will triumph and come out stronger than when he went in. |
Ikpeazu should stop wasting his time at the Supreme Court and start looking for a good trailer that will remove his belongings from Government House. |
omnisali:Of course! If you ask him how to get to his fathers village in the east, he will not be able to tell you. |
It may interest some of you to know that present day England and indeed the English are decendants of Germanic people who migrated from the Engles and Saxony areas of Germany 5000 years ago. That's why the English are sometimes known as the 'Anglo-Saxons'. Infact, 'England' actually means 'land of the Engles'. However, the English rarely ever aknowledge their German heritage |
In my life time, I know I will never see an 'Nnamdi Kanu' come out of the SW. Men who stick by what they believe in and are prepared suffer and die for that belief don't exist in that part of Nigeria. |
UrennaNkoli:Your beloved country? You mean the one Lord Lugard gave you? |
