The seems to have forgotten the brutality of the civil war.
They refuse to tell themselves the truth.
They think UN, EU, et al will support them at war time? They are so so wrong. Ask Syria.
Infact these people are looking for ways to de populate the world through zika, ebola etc. Sef.
The should be ready to make huge sacrifices and pay good price with plenty of lives and properties for their ambitions tho.
I wish them whatever they invite upon themselves.
Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria! The people who don't learn are Nigerians who think that they can have a nation through "unity by enforcement". A referendum is long overdue so that the indigenous people who Lord Lugard stole their lands to create Nigeria can finally reclaim what is rightfully theirs. |

Politics › Untold Story Of How Ojukwu Saved Murtala Mohammed's Military Career by zendy(op): 4:22pm On Feb 04, 2016 |
[b]In 1961, Murtala Ramat Mohammed graduated from the prestigious Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, England and returned to Nigeria where he was commissioned into the Nigerian Army as a second Lieutenant. However, Murtala was not happy with the Nigerian Army he met and felt the level of professionalism was below what was required. At the time Murtala was on a Military tactics course in NMTC Kaduna and Major Ojukwu ( as he then was at the time) was his chief instructor. Murtala approached Ojukwu and told him that he had made up his mind to resign from the Army. Ojukwu talked Murtala out of resigning and even suggested to him to join the newly created signals corps. Shortly after this, Ojukwu was redeployed to Lagos where he became the first indigenous quarter-master general of the Nigerian Army while Murtala, who had heeded Ojukwus advice, joined the signals corps and was sent on a signals course to Catterik, England.
As history would have it,General Ironsi would later make Murtala head of the signals corps, a position Murtala used to organise the Nothern counter coup that would kill Ironsi and over 300 Igbo officers which precipitated the northern pogroms that killed a further 50,000 Easterners and led to the declaration of Biafra and the civil war that followed.

However, when a person speaks Igbo as his ancestral language and has an Igbo name, that person had better tell me what they are because Anioma is not an ethnic group in Nigeria. |

If you wait for the moneybags and burgeoise to lead a popular revolution against oppresion that they reap from, you will waste.
An Onitsha man is an Anioma man, Onitsha is in the SE. Political talk will always be political talk but everyone knows better. Of course. How will a Governor who is enjoying power in Nigeria openly support Biafra? Not possible. It is laughable how Okowa called Anioma and SE 'ethnic nationalities' even though these words did not exist 30 years ago. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Midwest,SE,SS,Bendel, Delta state were all things that were created after independence. what was the name of your ancestors before Nigeria was created? The man is just talking nonsense. That is if Ifeanyi Okowa actually said any of these things as we all know what the Yoruba media are capable of. |
Politics › Re: 3 Reasons Why BIAFRA Can't Work by zendy: 7:22am On Feb 04, 2016 |
Oblongata: The agitation for the actualization of the Sovereign State of BIAFRA is quite inline with the right of nations to self determination which has now come to stand as cardinal principle in modern international law. as a point of reference, the law states that nations; based on respect for the principle of equal rights and fair equality of opportunity, have the right to freely choose their sovereignty and international political status with no external compulsion or interference. so as far as the world is concerned, BIAFRA movement is an exercise of right to self-determination. however, one is compelled above the din, to critically analyse the possibility of the secessionist movement's success(if there is to be any). 3 reasons why the movement will be frustrated and might fail is as thus: 1) Politically motivated: the international community appreciates the rule of law with regards to self-determination. this will help to stamp out tyrants and ensure people are governed by their consent. however, the international community are not deaf and dumb, neither are they stupid. questions would be raised and most prominent being 'why now'? what is the trigger? has there truly been a marginalization? as a country Nigeria, how involved are the igbos in the country politically? what posts have they occupied? etc. and they will understand that there are some few that feels politically irrelevant now, and BIAFRA itself; before its most recent movement, at the barest mention of it provokes many of the igbo tribes (especially the youths) due to the BIAFRAN war which has ensured we remain united at the evil expense of many lives. BIAFRA itself is no longer a genuine movement, it reeks of ibo politicians who has turned the pains of memory of the BIAFRA war to their personal gain. 2)self-determination is confusing: the principle of self determination has not stated what constitute a nation, neither has it stated the type of group which may legitimately claim right to self-determination. its really difficult for a group of people to make use of self determination, (then again, what can we really classify as group of people, 3? 10?) because the law itself is not well stated out, my take? self determination itself was promulgated to discourage bad leadership and also one of the many weapons that has been reserved to be used by strong world leaders to hack down bad leadership and destroy threatening increase in strength (economically, population wise, etc) of other nations through the use of united nations. (winston and roosevelt, i doff my hat). what am i saying? self-determination to a large extent is determined or can be used only when these leaders want it to be used (trust me, they know how to incite such) and only when the country poises a threat. Nigeria is best left alone (so they will think) because there is little or no gain to them from BIAFRA's break away. it might have interested these leaders if it were a south south breakaway. in a nutshell, self-determination has been cleverly coined only as as a means to an end for these UN cabals, hence, its confused definition and unclear principle which has made them as the ultimate judge as no judge in the world can rule on it in clear terms. so BIAFRA is not determined by self-determination, it is determined by selfish interests. 3)Many of igbo descendant do not even believe in the so called BIAFRA movement and even see it as a probable downfall in their business. take scotland (for instance), there had been agitation for full independence time immemorial, most recent is the independence referendum (sept 18 2014) in which (not surprisingly), majority still voted NO towards the agitation. this can be largely attributed to stakes which is at all time high as well as common interest. one would have thought that the whole scottish nation supported independence due to the noise about it but when it was time to act towards it, majority carried the vote (which was a NO to independence). dont be surprised if more igbo people don't want to be part of the smaller zoo (BIAFRA), they just want to remain in the big zoo where there is still much space and less aggression.
generally, BIAFRA is not a movement. it is a tool by few pot bellied politifcians fast running out of relevance. at the mention of BIAFRA, what comes mostly to mind is the struggle, death of innocent souls, and naturally; Anger. anger of the occurrences of the Ojukwu led war. the movement, in itself, is not purged of ethnic sentiments neither does it have clarified terms on why they want to leave except for recent political fallout largely due to miscalculation. i doubt if many ibos will obey the BIAFRAN clarion call when we now have a segun Arinze, Emeka Balogun, etc. let truth be told, if there were ever going to be a BIAFRA, it wont be anytime soon.
Long live Nigeria
United we are stronger

cc: tonyebarcanista obinoscopy Tallesty Truckpusher mynd44 lalasticlala So this whole write up of yours is to defend how Lord Lugard came from Britain to beat up, shoot, kill and rape your ancestors in other to make them Nigerians? You think you would be a Nigerian if Lugard had not come? Or maybe you would have gone to Britain with a placard saying "Lugard come and give me my country!". Any group of people are entitled to go their way any time they want and for whatever reason especially when they were forced into the country against their will. Wether they fail in their new country is not your business. You were not with this people before, now you claim to be one with them just because Lugard told you so. The Nigerian question must be answered by a referendum. A referendum must be conducted so that the indigenous ethnic groups that make up the geographical expression called NIgeria can finally decide who they are. We cannot keep carrying this "British identity" called Nigeria that was forced on us all. This is not just about Biafra, this is about the right of a person or people to choose. A person who had no right to choose is a prisoner, doesn't matter if you call that person a Nigerian or not. Personally, I would prefare a much smaller Biafra that is working than a big Nigeria which has turned out to be a 55 year old disaster. |
Politics › Re: How Long Can Nigeria Hold Out? by zendy: 7:59pm On Feb 03, 2016 |
Nigeri was just a "British experiment" to see if some indigenous West African ethnic groups could live together under one roof. 55 years later, one civil war, millions dead, massive corruption, nepotism, tribalism and the fact that most of the countries we started off with have left us behind, we have proved that the experiment was a big mistake. It is now time for us all to revert to how we were before Lugard started the disasterous experiment. |

A 6 regional structure is good but it is not enough. The office of executive president must also be abolished and in its place two offices will replace it. The office of the ceremonial president who will be commander in chief and a prime minister who will be head of a Government. Also, there must be a referendum to determin the make up of the regions. As an Anambra man, I want the entire Anioma in the Igbo region including the Igbos of the lower Benue and all Igbo elements in Rivers. I also want any minority of southern Nigeria (with the exception of Edo, but not Igbanke) who feel that they are better off in the Igbo region to say so in a referendum. However, I have to warn Nigerians about something. Should we get our region, we Igbos are most likely to pull out of Nigeria in less than 10 years. The Northerners know this, that's why they are against a regional system of Government. |

thekingisback: Oil has been the main source of income in this country. The discovery of oil has brought about wealth and poverty to this country. It's so shameful that the revenue generated from oil sales over the years that should have put this country amongst developed countries cannot be accounted. It ought not to be so.
Let's stop deceiving ourselves there's no unity in this country. The only time I've noticed a little unity is during football matches. Also, let it be known that there's no difference between the Hausas/Fulanis, Yorubas and Igbos. The three of them only care about themselves. Let no Niger Deltan be deceived by the sugar-coated tongue or by allowed to be cajoled by any group promising us heaven and earth.
This is a question I have for every Niger Deltan. What is the guarantee joining biafra won't amount to another mini Nigeria? What's the tendency they won't wipe out our identities by internal colonization? Why do you guys feel they badly want South South in their pipe dream? My brothers from the Niger Deltans open your eyes and read in between the lines. Our leaders whom ought to be representing us have failed us. They're part of our problems. Nothing good can come out from the likes of EK Clark, Tompolo, Ayiri, Osho Baba, Akpabio and co. The time have come for us to take our destinies into our own hands and stop depending on our leaders.
By Niger Delta I mean Edo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Cross River and Akwa Ibom.
Mods front page. Edo state is not part of Biafra (except the Igbanke people). Are the Igbo people of Asaba people part of this SS? Are Anioma people in this SS? Are the Igbo Rivers in this SS? Who exactly is SS? Let nobody decieve themselves. There are only two choices for the minority tribes of Southern Nigeria. Join the majority Igbos in leaving Nigeria or take your chances and stay with the Northerners and Yorubas in NigeriaThat is why it is important that this SS nonsense must stop. The tribes have to decide for themselves in a referendum what they want. Some people are using this SS to speak for other tribes and this is not good. The choice is out there, stay or leave. It is that simple. |
