KenOne:You understand this forum well. Only if they were from the north, you will hear nepotism, favoritism, quota system and what not from the same people congratulating them. I hate hypocrisy |
It is quite astonishing how these people have refused to take their extremism to China. They rather franternize with china or turn a blind eye to the many persecutions and atrocities committed by the Chinese government against Muslims there. In contrast they make attempts to kill the westerners who allow them access to good life. The Talibans are closest to the Chinese now and don't give a damn about anything. What an irony |
MartinCorridon:Your Mkpuru is very strong. Who do you? |
MartinCorridon:who said the approach is right? Hope you are not high on Mkpuru? Read the story very well |
MartinCorridon:Link of what? I am narrating my first hand experience with my next door neighbor and you are asking of link. I didn't pick what I said from a news outlet |
MartinCorridon:This is no Nollywood, it is something as real as you typed above. And please stop watching too much Nollywood, it is making you think everything that happen in life is Nollywood |
Compliments of the season Nairalanders. This evening I was reading a piece somewhere, of how a brother to a kidnapped victim asked the kidnappers to kill the brother after they demanded 100 million naira and he could raise only 1 million. Then, I remembered a similar case sometime ago. I had a neighbor from one of the North central states married to a woman from the north west. The woman had a grown up daughter from her previous marriage with someone else. The daughter also got married and lived in Abuja with her husband and two kids. On this fateful day, a family member was having a wedding in Kaduna and the lady left Abuja with her two kids for the wedding in a family friend's car. After the wedding ended, they were coming back to Abuja and the unthinkable happened, all of them were kidnapped on Abuja-kaduna highway. Then, the negotiations began. A call was put through to the woman's husband in Abuja demanding ransom. The man explicitly told the bandits how he was grateful to them for kidnapping his family, that as a matter of fact it is a favor for him. He lamented the pains he goes through to finding food for the family and what not. He finally told them to never call his number again with serious warning. The lady's mum here in Lagos (my neighbor) was informed and the woman was in serious distress, just crying. The woman's husband said he did not have such amount of money for ransom, that afterall the husband of the kidnapped lady does not care too. The kidnappers called again and the lady's husband warned them once more and blocked them. After some days, the kidnappers released the woman and her children to go. They asked her the kind of useless husband she married, that she should go and meet her useless husband. The lady now refused to go, that she doesn't know her way, they must release the man that was taking her to Abuja or she is not going anywhere with her children. The kidnappers now released the man too to take them away. Funny enough, the woman returned to her husband's house and is still there with him. I am not sure if this kind of approach will discourage kidnappers. Some have already resorted to dismembering and selling victims body parts to ritualists if money is not paid. It may work for others while it may not work in some cases. |
TheDemola:It is quite unfortunate, I don't know what people gain from saying things they know next to nothing about. The guy has an opportunity now, if he likes he should let ignorant people ruin it for him. |
flyinnizam:OP, disregard any fears that people are instilling in you here, prepare very well and come for your test. You have an opportunity now, try your best to grab it. The test venue is genuine and exist physically on Oba-Akran, it is one of the biggest factories in Ikeja industrial layout. I live close to the layout and knows it very well. As a matter of fact, I passed their gate some 20 minutes ago. |
bobo65:Why do some of you talk quick like this? The address given is very genuine and is a big company on Oba-Akran. I live close to it and is my daily route so I know the area very well. OP, prepare and attend your test without any fear |
Curious345:Our emergency services are very poor, however, some fires even in a building, not wild fire o, can burn for that long with best equipment and capacity to fight it. I still remember Notre Dame in France like yesterday |
Omihanifa:You people just take your experience and generalize. Mention your tribe here and someone can say his experience with them which maybe worse than what you are narrating here |
BITTEREX:Your assertion is a reflection of the society generally. You can encounter such with any tribe in Nigeria. For your information, anywhere you want to marry, do due delligence, not only from Benue |
ThiagoKid:Well, what suits you. It is not as if you are the first person that will do it neither will you be the last, it doesn't make you the best or the worst person on earth, you will not receive award or recognition for it either. There are also many people doing the opposite of your opinion and the world has not stopped for anybody. I am saying this so that you will not feel you are the chairman or the real deal . It is just one of the lifestyles some people out of the billions of people we have on earth live So, we move. |
Naija147:Haha, it is just an illusion, experience has taught us especially in this country that, we will yearn for them to be back after the next people come in |
Hashabiah:unfortunately, if all of them die we will not still have peace. Infact if everyone in Nigeria die and leave only you, you will not still have peace. Their death is no source of peace |
OfeAchi:Na wao for you o, you should have just told her not to go. Why on earth are you manufacturing percentages? Your percentages are utterly false as far as the city of Maiduguri is concerned. Haba, she was not going to a place like chibok na. Many of you don't even know that Maiduguri as a city is safer than many other cities in Nigeria, the Concentration of forces there is second to non. When last did your hear security breaches in Maiduguri? I hate when people speak without adequate knowledge of what they are saying |
Ekealterego:Well, I respect your opinion. However, I do not buy into these conspiracy theories. The emergency services in this country both on government and private levels are very poor. Maybe only Lagos has put up something a beat reasonable, though not enough due to the population here. As big as that place is, it may not have an internal fire Fighting mechanism such as a hydrant line, the entire structural design may not incorporate any fire proof materials. Same applies to Ebeano. We all saw how the fire started. Was there a political or ethnic conspiracy that made that child to start the fire? For all I care, the child was just having fun. The management on the other hand did not put adequate control measures in place, leaving an active gas system in place, well connected without adequate supervision of the area. By and large, very poor management of these local businesses is the cause of these. Again, for a store like that with a lot of combustibles, once you don't start fighting the fire at the insipient stage, forget it. This can only be done when you have internal fire Fighting mechanism, considering how ineffective our emergency services are. |
ppogba:Very right, insurance is not a go to thing in this part of the world. People consider it a waste of money |
GuyfawkesAB:This is it. People build multi million businesses in this country with zero safety and emergency procedures in place. You may not see a single hydrant line there, knowing fully well that public disaster management is a total mess in Nigeria, maybe apart from Lagos. Some urchins here are busy playing ethno polical card. The worst is most of this Nigerian owned businesses will simply prefer to bribe corrupt government officials when cutting corners. |
Ekealterego:You don't even know what caused the fire but here you are doing propaganda of politics. Why are you people like this? Do you know how many businesses owned by people who are not politicians that have been burnt down? Must it be politics and ethnicity? It is a pity to have such a disaster but the some of you comments here are pathetic to say the least. |
YorubaLord:he bought a bus for the public people like you with public money and you are are still complaining? What do you want him to do with the public money? Spend on private things? Supporting sports in his state should be commended, it is a way of empowering the youths |
chloride6:I wouldn't tag it nonsense because I am not in full knowledge of what necessitated that rule. However, it is a standard practice and students are well oriented on it before starting school fully. Once you are pregnant, you go home until after delivery which means you have lost a session automatically |
chloride6:Funny enough, that is the rule in all school of nursing and midwifery through out the country. I am sure they have a reason for that |
airsaylongcome:Yes, I never doubted that. Just like any group of people, there are bad eggs in LASTMA too. However, side by side, their usefulness still outweigh the the lows. People complain of high-handedness of these officials which is true. We on our part cannot exonerate ourselves from the blame entirely due to our I'll mannered behaviors majorly of not obeying simple instructions. |
airsaylongcome:Very strange and wondering how they benefit from such. Logically, it should be more beneficial for them head or tail when the light is one. The stress of controlling traffic manually reduced and also advantage of arresting/extorting impatient drivers running red lights is there. In my opinion, the advantages of having them on Lagos roads far outweigh the disadvantages |
airsaylongcome:Please dont argue what he said. He is spot on. The suffering I endured a few days after endsars mayhem when LASTMA was withdrawn for safety purposes is still fresh in my mind |
The man is only increasing his troubles and level of punishment con extortion he will get with this act of foolishness |
And people no get money, na so them go the talk o |
Mftivi:Look the name very well o, PAKISTAN you wrote. If you wrote PALESTINE I will understand. It means you don't even know what you are accusing Israel of in the first place |
Upworkwriter007:Israel abusing human rights in Pakistan? This news is new to me |
I didn't often fight growing up. The only two I remember are 1. in JSS3. My troublesome friends were found of giving classmates insulting nicknames and making jest of them, of course they were bullies in their rights but I wasn't despite their efforts to make me one, including giving me fetish amulets for fighting. One day they gave a boy a name and the village peoplel just asked me to call the boy the name. That is how we fought and not surprising, the boy beat me up. I think my friends weren't around as they went on their usual womanizing during break. My only consolation was I was well liked by my teachers as a brilliant young chap then. The matter came to an English teacher teaching the seniors and he insisted we explain the issue in English instead of vernacular, men, that is where Wahala burst. The boy did not know how to speak as I explained mine without trouble. He was just mixing English and vernacular haphazardly. The teacher gave him some serious lashes and set me free, though telling me I was wrong but my English was good enough to save me. 2. This happened to my friend when we were in university. He was a hustler with his bike off study time. It happens our school was located in area with a military barrack. On this unfortunate day, my friend went hustling after classes and came back with an accidented like face. I thought he had a terrible accident. Alas it was a terrible encounter with some rogue military guys. My friend took a passenger and on the way, two guys in a hiace bus recklessly push then off road with them scrambling in a nearby bush. They came out and confronted the guys while they were casually talking to some people not minding what they have just done. When one of then would give attention to my friend who was angry with them, it was with a dirty slap to the face, my friend returned it with immediate alacrity as it is his custom with anyone that dare slaps him. The two came down and my friend passenger was willing to take on one while he takes the other. The men brought out their IDs as military personnel and my friend's passenger disappeared like magic, leaving him to face the two. They beat him madly and to worsen the situation, some of their colleagues were coming back from God knows where in a full truck and immediately join in the beating without asking a question. After further beatings, one of them asked them to pause for a moment and asked my friend what happened, he managed to explain to them and they asked him to take his bike and go while apologizing that, their colleague usually misbehaves when he smokes. That was when another round of war started, the man he initially slapped said over his dead body that my friend must come to the barracks with them. The other military guys forcefully held their colleague back and asked my friend to take his bike and run. I can never forget the pains my friend went through that day. |
