talk2ccp: Please help me quote the price for a 2003 Toyota Highlander Brain Boxwhat happened to the original one and also when you get a new it should come with the ignition key other wise your car wont start since the key you would be using is coded to the old ECU aka brainbox |
mrhello: @zim drill. Pls what is double din?1st double din 2nd single din
|
jum33: Thanks Ikenna351,it might be the pistol in the brake caliper when you step the brakes the pistol is pushed by brake fluid and the pistol pushes the brake pads and the car stops and the pistol is supposed to push back to allow free movement, if it doesnt you end up having the wheel binding |
DAY11.:if he is looking for an aftermarket radio it doesnt matter which make is the vehicle the question should be a single or double din radio ? |
mrhello: Pls house, help!!!the vibration stopped but you confuse us when you say WITH D ODD SOUND what do you mean ? |
pukka5050: @ JUO,thank u so much,i never thought of that,i will take it to my car electrician.the car needs a mechanic not an electrician |
okenwa: Change engine seat, simplefrom the way he discribed it, it has nothing to do with a mounting/aka engine seat its the engine vibrating meaning something is not right with the engine needs to check things like plugs, ht leads if it has one etc |
clemmonce: @lex it is not i want my car to speak back to me. i was jus wondering maybe it is smething minor. like oil shortage and so onthere is nothing you can do a code needs to be pulled out from the ECU by an OBDII and that code will tell you what you need to do |
redcliff: is it manual or auto?most likely auto most manuals dont show gear on dashboard except may be sport cars |
dwamunoyoo: my nissan datsun van 1995 model automatic transmision used 20 lts/100km. what could be wrong.engine size is the most important infor missing |
prosper2013: my infinty qx4 od over hheatin am told to get another egine and it uses the v6 3300 engine plz wat shouuld i doso if the new one over heat you will get another engine ? get it checked, water pump, thermostat stuck, radiator leaking etc |
cooldudeng: Hello poster.you are misguiding him 1st is scanning without touching the 3 you mentioned, scanning gets straight to the point without trial and error |
dsa: @Cooldudeng,get your car scanned mind you not all scanners can do ABS and the scan should point to which sensor of the four wheel is faulty |
alldruns1: Tks 4 dis info. Pls if I understand u well. Does it mean scan is 4 a particular aspect of a car? Or does it scan d entire car & tells u d aspect u care 2 know?yes a OBDII can be both specific for one car or for several cars, it all depends with manufacturer normaly sellers and manufacturer will tell you if it specific for a certain make of car and the models that it can not scan |
samir101ng: @ZIM DRILL,a scanner/0BDII comes with a manual and code numbers and there meaning simple scanners can only give you code then you have to look it up in the book that it came with but advanced ones will you show the code and the part/system which is faulty eg code P0034 --- Turbocharger Bypass Valve Control Circuit Low |
Harbb: My power steering developed some problems (not pumping sometimes and making noise). I decided to change it. I have changed it up to five times (both fairly used and new ones) with no solution. The last one am using now is a new one but still making noise when turning the steering. I was advised to change the pipe that transmits the fluid, I did that but the problem is still there. Gurus in the house, what advise do you have? Thanks.1st check if those pipes are leaking, if not try to find a way to check if there are blocked and also check the steering rack |
olybaby50: Dis happened as soon as my ATF was changed and since then it jerks wen I put in reverse. I have changed the oil severally with the gear mountains but to no avail. Some one wit similsr experience to help me out.when you change oil always check whether it is one recommended by the manufacturer and also if it the right amount filled up |
redcliff: cambal bushing= go and scan your carits something which is mechanical it needs visual inspection |
alldruns1: Hi all. Pls pardon my ignorance: I really want to learn more. Ive bn reading good tips on dis forum.a scanner or OBDII is a computer that communicateds with ECU/ECM aka brain box, it can be a portable hand held device, normal computer/laptop a with the OBDII software or even a smart phone with the app to scan this connects via bluetooth the ecu collects data from car sensors eg the air bag, abs, air mass sensor, temperature sensor etc so when a sensor is faulty it sends the signal which is not the same with one that it sends when it working fine the ECU then stores that as code so when you connect the scanner to your car it communicates with ECU and reads codes and the scanner tells you what is wrong that is if any of the faulty you are having are linked to ECU but not all scanners can scan every car, when there are being manufactured there are programmed with infor that the manufacture of the scanner has eg if manufacture has programming data for all car except ferrari, lambo bugatti that mean the scanner wont be able that ferraris, lambos etc becoz the scanner was never programmed to scanner such cars roughly manufacturer had no data to put for those cars thats the basic some scanner are meant for reading code and erase only, meaning they cant reset air bags or abs faults |
odume10: Hello house, pls I got an offer I considered good for a 2002 Volvo S40, am coming from Toyota so I would like to knowd d pros and cons of d car.nice car just found out if it has GDI engine, that engine is very senstive to plugs etc the GDI engine is also found on a mitsubishi carisma The 40 Series cars were equipped with four-cylinder engines, such as a 1.9 turbo diesel or 1.6 (1588 cc), 1.8 (1731 cc, later increased to 1783cc), 2.0T (1948 cc), 1.9 T4 (1855 cc, later increased to 1948cc) or 2.0 (1948 cc) fuel-injected gasoline engines all of which are derivatives of the modular whiteblock engine series that started life in the Volvo 960 and carried in both 5 and 6 cyl formats in Volvo's bigger FWD cars. There was also a 1.8 L (1834 cc) Gasoline direct injection engine provided by Mitsubishi as part of the platform sharing between the 40 series and the Carisma. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_S40 |
eaglechild: @ZIMif they cant understand the cooling system of a car then they aint mechanics but dangerous d.i.y people |
eaglechild: I've noticed that once a car thermostat goes bad, mechanics will advise that the car radiator be rewired so that the cooling fans are always blowing once the car is on irrespective of the temperature.they dont how the engines operating especially its operating temperature thats is meant to give the best combustion therefore saving your fuel thermostats dont get fixed but a simple replacement does the trick and also are easy to test with hot water https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aa1yG-fntRk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zlQ4ny51TW4 |
ib4babes: Please, i need good advise, i guess i've got some problems with my Infinity QX4 02'. The gear does not select normally sometimes, but if i allow it steam/warm for a longtime in the morning it moves normally, short of that, it behaves as if it jumps of gear and after sometime it will jump into the next gear after getting the RMP too high. Please what kind be the problems my people?. Try the simple solulation of changing the gearbox oil aka ATF automatic Transimisson fluid/oil |
IbukaDantata: Still confused on what to do..... Another mechanic confirmed the earlier evaluation from the first. Sad!!!!Tell what feel your self when you drive the car eg if the gears are slipping |
gtsystems: Hi,Well 1st check if the mental cover aint touching the disk that is if your has the cover It might be the bearing does the sound also increase with speed ? |
earthrealm: a/c not cooling is not always low gas related o...there could be other causes..A filter wont affect to the point of not having a c as for the sensor both warm and cold wouldnt be working if the sensor is faulty He said it works but no chill so the main culprit is the gas level On some cars if the gas level is low the compressor wont engage after switch on the a/c so switch on a/c listen if the compressor engages if safe feature not burn compresor since the gas level would be low to circulate the system |
kunle75: check this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gX5-D3znf8M he is changing the gasket that is making your car leak dont confuse this gasket with famous head gasket this one is for the valve cover unfortunately am in uk for AC R134a is the gas now used all over the world |
kunle75: Tx u all for your supportif oil is coming from where you mentioned then it simple as well, the cover needs to be taken off and then put new sealant and if there is no chill thats simple it needs a refill |
ZIM DRILL: I think he is trying to con you |
IbukaDantata: So changing the clutch kit involves opening the engine or gear??its not changing the clutch kit but changing the clutch and when you buy the clutch from autoshop they sell it as kit therefore clutch kit which is pressure plate, clutch and the bearing run away from the mechanic if the clutch was gone the car would have problem with slipping gears, will not engage smoothly and also the clutch would mess loosing speed is not a sign of a worn out clutch
|
transmission fluid and radiator water ? these systems are very much separated in some car a transmission oil pipe is just at the base of the radiator for cooling the hot oil from the gearbox but they never connect to one componet such they might end up mixing only the engine oil and water can mix this would be caused by a headgasket being blown |
I think he is trying to con you You dont change the clutch plate on its own only but a full clutch kit that has a pressure plate, clutch and bearing |
