FamilyRe: Dear Nigerian Men That Don't Help With Housework, by ZIMDRILL(m): 1:45pm On Feb 13, 2013
[CHocolaTE:
]How are you and yours? Hope everyone is fine. If so, thanks be to God.
My purpose of writing this letter is to inform you that you guys really need to start pitying your wives when it comes to the issue of housework.
Ejor, we understand that you are kings and monarchs and are very powerful and wonderful.
But abeg, try to pity your wives when it comes to the issue of housework.
I have seen different threads on Nairaland where men stated that they can not help with the housework because that is a woman's work or because if they help their wives she will start expecting them to always assist.
One thing you should realize is that you should help out if your wife contributes financially even if the responsibility of taking care of the house is expected to be that of the woman in the society we live in.
It is not easy for women, you have to understand this, having to run jobs and take care of kids and take care of the house all at once is not a piece of cake so please help out.

How would you feel if your wife refused to contribute money to help you with something you have dire need of money for, maybe your business? Or if she refused to contribute money for medical care that you might need for an illness someday in future? What if your wife refused to help you in such times because she believes that contributing financially to the house is something only the husband should do?
Kindly start assisting in the house, thank you. It doesn't make you less of a man.

Yours Faithfully,
Chocolate.
its not complicated as people want to put it, you need to understand how it began, then you will understand were we are. long back the husbans went to work while wives stayed home, that time money from the husband salary was enough for family (average family) so there was no need for women to go to work, wives would do house chores etc and needed no help becoz they had nothing else do, they would manage by themselves

now things have change money from husband is not enough and also women have been enpowered to go all the way like a man going to work etc , this is were our problem starts, men are forgetting that she has been to work like you and she is tired like you and at the same time she is supposed to do the house chores so since you are all working for the family you need to help each other with chores as well, if she is clean yam you will be cutting the vegetables, if you get home early take out meat from the deep frooze and boil it for her, than her coming at 8pm and start from zero to cook

when you could have boil it while you even watching your fav tv programm or even supervising the kids to do home and taking bath etc

thats how simple it is

Elsafema: Pls Auto guru in house i discover my acura 3.5 is overheating, fan is blowing normarly, i hav wash the radiator i even had coolant but i notice that whenever my leg is much on break may b in the holdup teprature wil rise but if am on high speed and march break ocationaly temprature will not rise. Pls what could b wrong with my car?
when you say overheat what temperature does it read ? when you say too much on break what do you mean ?

in hold up traffic temperature will rise a bit thats where the fan kicks in from theory a fan wont kick in while you are driving why ? becoz the motion of the car is forcing air in the radiator grill therefore cooling cooliant in the radiator

at stand still no air is being forced into grill therefore temperature will rise a bit then the thermo open and fan kicks in

so for the mean time give us the readings and we work from there

Car TalkRe: Is This A Filler Point For The Gearbox by ZIMDRILL(m): 3:52pm On Jan 29, 2013
Siena: That looks more like a transmission breather valve, not a filler port.

One of the reasons you need to read your owner's manual from beginning to end. Most errors with regards to automobile use and maintenance stem from ignorance. Like some folk running 60 psi in a 195/50x15 tyre, because they fail to read their Owner's Manuals.
depending on car's gearbox design some can be used for topping up

the photo is just for an example

Car TalkRe: Vibration In Honda Eod 2004 by ZIMDRILL(m): 2:31pm On Jan 29, 2013
Tnoni: I GOT AN EOD 2004 NOVEMBER, I ACTUALLY BOUGHT IT WITH THE VIBRATION AND THE SELLER TOLD ME IT IS ONLY THE ENGINE SIT, THAT I SHOULD CHANGE IT, IMMEDIATELY I TOOK THE CAR HOME THE NEXT DAY I PAID A MECHANIC TO GET IT FIXED ONLY FOR THE VIBRATION TO CONTINUE. NOW THE MECHANIC IS SAYING IT HAS TO BE THE OTHER TWO ENGINE SITS, THAT HE DID NOT CHANGE, I DONT KNO WAT TO DO, AND THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT HAS BEEN ON FOR MORE THAN 3 WEEKS NOW.
HOW DO I CLEAR THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT AND IF I CHANGE THE OTHER ENGINE SITS WILL THE VIBRATION STOP? PLUS WHICH ONE IS BETTER FAIRLY USED ENGINE SITS OR BRAND NEW ONES.
engine mounting (sitting) doesnt cause vibrating there are made to position the engine and also to cushion the engine from bumps and to absorb little vibration from the engine, there are rubbers how can they cause a vibration

check engine means the car needs scanning after scanning a code will come out and that code points to what is wrong

you wont be suprise that it is a misfire causing the vibration dont waste your money on engine mountings
Car TalkRe: Help, My Car Moves Itself... by ZIMDRILL(m): 2:15pm On Jan 29, 2013
Supzyy: I drive a 2008 toyota camry, automatic transmission. Anytime i engage the gear, either in reverse or drive, the car starts moving even without any pressure on the throttle. i assume this to be normal with all automatic cars. However, a few days ago, i noticed that after engaging the gear, the car not only started moving but also shifted up itself. i had to turn off the engine and restarted the car. should i be worried about this? i love being in control of my car at any given time
anything showing up on the dashboard ? if not start by trying cheap methods, buy transmission flash fluid, pour some into the transmission drive for 20 minutes and comes back and empty the transimission, put fresh transmission fluid

this you can do it yourself at home all you need is the spanner for the draining plug, i assume you got a your jack

Car TalkRe: Toyota Sienna, P0136 Code Refers To Second Oxygen Sensor On Bank 1 by ZIMDRILL(m): 8:28pm On Jan 28, 2013
chikasin4: thank u, I will try and clean it by the weekend.
Also, I will like to know if it is safe to put mobile 1 synthetic engine oil (0W- 40) at the car dat travels more than 170,000miles. If yes how long or miles does it cover b4 changing. Thank u
most people in uk dont wait for manufacturer recommended mileage interval to change oil, we do it every year

so if it is cheap to you to do it every year do it or any time before the recommended mileage interval

as for the oil if only i knew the climate there then i would say yes or no

since oil type for engines is also determined by region climate
Car TalkRe: Honda-accord 2005: O2 Sensor/fuel Issues by ZIMDRILL(m): 8:19pm On Jan 28, 2013
nissparts: Here is some knowledge for you, the oxygen sensor you are referring to, which is the lower one, has ABSOLUTELY NO BEARING on fuel consumption.
The one on top (air/fuel ratio sensor) is the one that controls inputs to your injectors and can affect fuel economy.
You have proven what I have said countless times on this site and elsewhere, the absence/presence of a catalyst also has no bearing on fuel economy. They are placed there to regulate exhaust emissions into the atmosphere, nothing more, nothing less.
Whatever solution you come up with to take off the CEL will not affect your "perceived poor fuel economy".
I am not sure I read anywhere in this thread that you have ACTUALLY replaced the sensor in question. If that is so, I would wonder why. Also note that it may not be the sensor at fault but the connection at the socket of the sensor.
you are wrong

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oxygen_sensor

Automotive oxygen sensors, colloquially known as O2 sensors, make modern electronic fuel injection and emission control possible. They help determine, in real time, if the air–fuel ratio of a combustion engine is rich or lean. Since oxygen sensors are located in the exhaust stream, they do not directly measure the air or the fuel entering the engine. But when information from oxygen sensors is coupled with information from other sources, it can be used to indirectly determine the air-fuel ratio. Closed loop feedback-controlled fuel injection varies the fuel injector output according to real-time sensor data rather than operating with a predetermined (open-loop) fuel map. In addition to enabling electronic fuel injection to work efficiently, this emissions control technique can reduce the amounts of both unburnt fuel and oxides of nitrogen entering the atmosphere. Unburnt fuel is pollution in the form of air-borne hydrocarbons, while oxides of nitrogen (NOx gases) are a result of combustion chamber temperatures exceeding 1,300 kelvin due to excess air in the fuel mixture and contribute to smog and acid rain. Volvo was the first automobile manufacturer to employ this technology in the late 1970s, along with the three-way catalyst used in the catalytic converter.
Car TalkRe: Honda-accord 2005: O2 Sensor/fuel Issues by ZIMDRILL(m): 8:11pm On Jan 28, 2013
speed001: @ michs its all city driving o and @ times I use the airconditioner but nt all d time. I've changed the sensor but the code refused to go. I bought d sensor new and changed it but it did nt work m the electrician tested tone stuff wit tester and said no current dere or sumfin. Inputs needed
the code doesnt go by putting the new part, 1st clear the code from the ECU memory aka scanning and erasing the code then put the new part, some people put the part 1st then scan and erase code

when the car runs the ECU it will get correcr readings signals from the part and no code will register aka Check Engine since correct signals are be recieved by the ECU aka brain box

so your can only need erasing the code aka scan and erase if the same code comes back then the new part is faulty

chikasin4: but d u know d location of it in d engine? So that I can clean it before thinkin about hw to replace it.
just follow the exhuast pipe starting from outlet manifold you will see sensors on the pipe on different positions

its a simple job you can do it if you have the right spanner

on the photo the car as two oxygen sensor and the one at the bottom of the photo is the bank 1 and the one labelled is bank 2

Car TalkRe: How Do You Know That Your Radiator Is ''expired''? by ZIMDRILL(m): 4:54pm On Jan 28, 2013
Stallion77: I recently experience over heating with my Honda babyboy 1999 and along the line, i was told my gasket was burnt as the water from the radiator was oozing out wen the engine was running... i had that fixed only to discover that the temperature went up again and water was leaking from a pipe, the mechanics said its the AC pipe and i dont use the AC. I had that fixed and just a little drive of less than 2km,the car temperature goes nearly above the middle. I was then told that my single cell radiator has expired and does not work as efficiently as it should and that i need to change it to a double cell radiator and things will normalize...here lies my question, is that really the problem?

Your candid responses would be highly appreciated.
Thanks!
on most cars the middle is the car's operating temperature arranging from car to car 82 - 89 degress celsius and the thermo opens at 90 degress celsius no need to change your radiator and it doesnt expire but they get blocked or leak thats when you change one

your water pump should also be checked it was supposed to be changed when they did the head gasket and also i dont see how AC pipe is linked to car's cooling except if s/he meant the pipes that go into the heater matric (a small radiator thats make the car's cabin warm)

I wish the mods will help push it to front page.

Thanks a lot. He uses a repair manual which he also used during the diagnosis and also a nice mech but this brain box issue is strange to me to be honest. Thanks once more!
repair manual on most cases tell you which spanners to use and how to take off the part but some guide you on testing voltage or resistance but if s/he is not good with electronic reading voltage, resistance etc then that guide wont be any use to him/her, s/he ends up blaming the ECU instead of replacing he sensor which is being said to be faulty
Car TalkRe: Honda-accord 2005: O2 Sensor/fuel Issues by ZIMDRILL(m): 1:14pm On Jan 27, 2013
speed001: Have d same issue. Mine is a toyoota camry with code P1135 meaning aair fuel sensor malfunction bank1 sensor 1. The mechanic said the brain box is faulty dat I should change it. Buut if d brain box is fualty won't d car begin to mibehave. Well mine still gets good gas mileage as I get 323 miles on a full tank aas opposed to 416 miles. Any suggestionm
if a code if pulled out and it points to something it means the pointed sensor is faulty, why say it is the ECU when the ECU has told you that this sensor is faulty. get your sensor changed and clear the code you will get good mileage

but let me inform if your car manual says you do 416 miles it means at certain speed and certain driving patterns, eg the load of the car your driving chnaging gear at the right time etc
Car TalkRe: Honda-accord 2005: O2 Sensor/fuel Issues by ZIMDRILL(m): 1:03pm On Jan 27, 2013
mich2012: Thanks a lot! The guy said he tested the sensor in the car, that it is good but my concern is if it is good, why then did the car return a code that has to do with the sensor?

The guy said the sensor is ok that even if we change it that the code will still be there and the fuel issue will persist. He says changing the brain box will correct everything. While I do not want to doubt this, I have to be very careful of changing the brain box of a very sound car I have barely even used and which did not return any brain box code when scanned. The mech says that the brain box will not return codes since it is not ok but then why did it return the P0141 code?
run away from the mechanic s/he is not good it is hard to test the sensor if you are not good with electronics all you need is to change the sensor which is being said is faulty by the ECU. just know that ECUs very rarely mafunction after changing the ECU will get the proper signal from the sensor and the ECU will do proper adjustment and your car's fuel consumption will improve thats sensor is for reading whether the fuel is to rich or not and correct adjustment will be done by the ECU the reason for that is for saving the planet from carbon monoxides etc and saving the world fuel by not wasting

Car TalkRe: "Servicing The Injector Nozzles" - Meaning In Nigerian Context? by ZIMDRILL(m): 4:10pm On Jan 23, 2013
my conclusion

1 it seems that people might be buying fake unregulated fuel there for clogging the injectors though i wonder how a pressurised fuel rail would make a injector just clog like that with pressure it has anyway we might not know the chemicals added to fake fuel

2 mechanics are cheating car owner in servicing the so called nozzle injector, actual name INJECTORS there are not meant for servicing if it is bad just change, it is like trying to service fuel rail regulator

3 stick to one approved fuel brand eg TOTAL RON 98 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Octane_rating#Effects_of_octane_rating also you must know the recommended RON rating for your car in doing so you dont just buy fuel from these cheap backyard fuel you wont be saving anything but creating a problem in the future

dont touch the connection to the ECU if the connection were bad then the ECU would show on the dash and it would not pick signal from the sensors hence amd engine check light would show, for the mean time scan your car and see if any codes comes up
