gugus1: when a tempreture raise occurs the pointer is at red position or almost ...... i already stated what i mean by ac switch burns .it just does not work when you press the button.have repaired thrice
your head gasket might be gone, check even your thermo if it is not stuck then your AC what was fixed at 1st was the gas refilled ? does the ac light come on when pressed, was the fuse and relay checked, when the switch pressed does the car increase the revs abit

nissparts: Okay then.
Let's hope it's a minor transmission fault
thats not my worry but how much those small parts inside cost there are not things you get from average auto shop if it is a stuck valve thats easy you clean up the edges oil rings you put new one

those one played around with the key without knowing the effects to the transponder the 1st thing first with a remote start is to find the best way to permanately make the read the chip, lots of those boxes on ebay, myself i dont use those i take off reader from ignition barrel and put the key in the middle secure them and put them somewhere in the dashboard but you must have a second key cut to use this key does not need to be coded

when inserted the car will read the key that is hidden not the one in barrel after that look for your start accesories wires etc

i even install such system on manual cars and putting a safety switch not to start in gear
Car TalkRe: '98 Honda CRV Auto tranny issue by ZIMDRILL(op): 1:06pm On Jul 05, 2013
nissparts: No it's not.
What you have just described is limp mode.
It resets after you turn off the engine for a while.
Hmm, remote start. I have seen cars develop issues from installing remote starts.
limp mode always gives a code when scanned, meaning that the ecu has detected a faulty sensor and to protect the car it get into limp mode and a code is stored

as for remote start thats my playing ground, its a problem if it gets installed by fake auto electrician
Car TalkRe: '98 Honda CRV Auto tranny issue by ZIMDRILL(op): 12:38pm On Jul 05, 2013
nissparts: If you dont have a code then this is a mechanical issue and not the transmission.
Something like the rubber connecting the airbox to the throttle body being loose.
Examine the engine bay thoroughly and look for something which may be missing or loose.
Also, you can be put in limp mode from abs issues. Is the abs/tcs/slip light still on?
you are missing the facts the car drives fine when oil ATF temp is low once it reaches normal operating temperature thats when i lose gears, when it loses gears and switch off let it cool down it will drive fine untill temperature raise to normal then i lose the gears

so the problem is inside the gearbox

what makes me feel lazy is that i have done so much on the car sorted the bushes front o/s then front drops links (MOT)then pimping it with a remote start, was looking forward to put tints at the rear windows then a window auto close module

Car TalkRe: '98 Honda CRV Auto tranny issue by ZIMDRILL(op): 12:19pm On Jul 05, 2013
Costee: In the 6th gen Maxima (2004-06) world that is the classic symptom of a dysfunctional valve body. And even then it's a gradual process. I don't know whether CRVs of your model have vb issues, and if that were so the problem you describe occurred too suddenly to be the case. I still think some sensor is responsible, and if indeed you've lost a gear then your friend certainly did more than test drove the car.
i suspect a stuck valve,if clutches were worn the car would slip while shifting up or down but it does not, he drove the car while i was the passenger nothing he did that was out of the normal driving

the idea of opening it is making me feel lazy to start the job
Car TalkRe: '98 Honda CRV Auto tranny issue by ZIMDRILL(op): 12:08pm On Jul 05, 2013
Ikenna351: Maybe, the car has been charmed. Just kidding!

The thing is, not all codes stored in the ECUs will lite MIL. In such situation, the univeral or generic scanner wont see such codes. It will report "no error code found" even though the codes will be though. Only a special scan tool designed and produced specifically for Honda or Acura can pull such hiddrn codes. For example, i do find intermittent and permanent fault each time i scan my Lion with PP2000 (Peugeot Planet 2000), a special scan tool for only Peugeot & Citroen. Yet, the check engine light wont be on. But when i scan with universal scanner, I will get "No error code found". I want to believe that Honda may have such scan tool. Find it and scan the car with it, you will be surprised other codes you will pull out, other than codes relating to the auto trans issue.

But i could be wrong, though. There could no auto trans error code stored. And if that is the case and if the culprit is not engine related or sensors, then am afraid, the transmission may have been saying "bye-bye" to you all these while.

Ikenna
i did not scan with a universal tool but with the actual procedure from honda service manual book (paper clip trick )thats the same method i used pull out the abs code so am sure that there are no stored codes i even used the honda method to erase codes then drove it till it lost gears then scan again still there was no code

sultaan: wrong trans fluid, use the right one and make sure its up to full level
the problem started before even changing the ATF after changing with new and filled the right amount still the problem is there
Car TalkRe: '98 Honda CRV Auto tranny issue by ZIMDRILL(op): 10:39am On Jul 05, 2013
nissparts: Surely, a car displaying such symptoms would have a code stored in its computer. What you are experiencing is limp mode
limp mode allows you to drive at limited revs and a light will show on dashboard on mine only the ABS which i scanned to know which sensor to change
Car TalkRe: '98 Honda CRV Auto tranny issue by ZIMDRILL(op): 10:36am On Jul 05, 2013
Costee: Even though the MIL is not on, I still think you should scan. It seems to me that the car has entered fail-safe mode. The sudden thrust on the throttle probably snapped on a sensor in order to prevent damage to the engine or tranny. If it were a Nissan I would have suggested you look over the camshaft sensor. I know little of the CR V (Honda). Yet I doubt if it's a tranny issue.
there is no code or MIL light

cam sensor does affect transmission but starting the car, of which mine starts and drive only lose gear after reaching average operating temperature

Ikenna351: ZIM DRILL,

Unfortunately, am the wrong person to offer suggestions to auto transmission issues. I have no interest in what goes on in those boxes. For that, i know little about them. How i wished i could help.

I would adviced that you widen the search to your auto trans issue by not limiting the search to only 2 forum members. You never know who may know what truly is wrong with your transmission. Goodluck.

Ikenna
i have done my research and nothing is matching my problem and thats annoying me becoz when i go blind when i take off the transmission

Car Talk'98 Honda CRV Auto tranny issue by ZIMDRILL(op): 9:02pm On Jul 04, 2013
My new project honda cr v 1998

Am not a novice when it comes to car but my main speciality is electronics but this is one is starting to give me headace after making the car ready for the road, from nowhere auto transmission is playing up

it has developed a problem with automatic transmission, when you start the from cold it would drive fine and changing but the moment the temperature reaches normal operatives levels that when it loses the drive the car has 140000 miles on the dash

it started when a friend slammed on the accelelator when testing the brakes after bleeding the brakes. After 15 mins of driving around the car lost drive, in D the car would behave as if it is in neutral at one point the revs and speedo would record a reading revs at 2500 speedo 20mph but the car would not move , tried all gears still nothing. Changed fluid still the same problem nothing is flashing on the dashboard

i want ideas before i open the transmission (a friends specialise in auto gearbox)tomorrow am adding transmission stop to see what happen

infolekan: And here goes the so called "reasonable" comment of the average Nigerian.
Dangote should be sued for what please?manslaughter? Murder?
Majority of the times.....the bikemen are usually at fault with their death defying & award winning riding but the situation changes when they're hit as everyone starts blaming the richer man in the car.
It is painful that a life should be lost so needlessly and that's the what to be expected when the roads are bad and the highway patrols & traffic wardens don't see the need to their work.
Dangote has more truck on the road than any individual it shouldn't be strange that is trucks ar involvd in accidents from time to time considering the numbr of accidents that occur daily on our roads.
am not a nigerian but i want to comment on driving

the problem is people dont know hot to drive around big trucks, the question is, did these light vehicle ever read the high code ? when you are around these trucks you leave a safe gap bewteen you and them and also be in a position that s/he can see you not those (blind spots), final always remember that in a accident involving such vehicles the light one is the one which get crushed
as for the lady we dont know what really happen

Car TalkRe: Toyota Hilux Manual/automatic Which One Is Better? by ZIMDRILL(m): 10:31pm On Jul 01, 2013
Ogojohn: A friend of mine want to buy this ride at a Toyota dealership at Asaba.Delta state capital and he is torn between his choice the automatic and the choices of people around him since they have been confusing him telling him that this particular vehicle is problematic when it comes to its auto trains. All his fleet are automatic and he wouldn't want to change now.
He therefore asked for my opinion and this is why i brought this to the experts in the house to do justice to this. The vehicle i am talking about is a brand new Toyota hilux automatic .
personally i prefer a 4x4 on a manual transmission

Car TalkRe: Is It Possible For A Car To Be Charmed? by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:19pm On Jun 30, 2013
Siena: Zim's analogy's very valid. Sure it's impossible for an engine to run without fuel. The same way it's impossible for an automobile to be "charmed". If you believe an automobile can be "charmed" (impossible) then you might as well believe a similar charm can make an automobile run without fuel (another impossibility).

Now, do you see the relationship between Zim's analogy and the OP's belief?
people can be blinkered in reasoning

just like someone who believes in god but says dont believe in satan

what they forget is that if believe in god it means you believe in what god is fighting, satan though you dont worship satan but god

start by checking the fuse for the fan then move to the relay and lastly the temperature sender though i think the temperature sender should be picked by the ECU aka brainbox
Car TalkRe: Do You 'central Lock' Your Car Doors While Travelling A Long Distance? by ZIMDRILL(m): 11:26pm On Jun 12, 2013
double08: Lets say you are travelling a long distance like from Lagos to Benin,is it advisable to 'central lock' the car doors?because in case there is an accident(God forbid)the doors might stay locked and cannot be opened thereby leaving the accident victim trapped inside.

That's why when am travelling I unlock the car doors once am on the interstate (express road) and when I am inside the city/town I pin the doors for security reasons. whats your take on this? OP will appreciate if this makes front page for people to air their views
generally it doesnt matter becoz you will never know whether the doors would have open or not if you had locked or unlocked
thats the reason the fire brigade have those cutters

so i would say whatever makes you feel comfortable
