Politics / Re: Presidency 2023: Shettima Is Phenomenally Complementary To Tinubu – Keyamo by ZionSpecie(m): 3:38am On Jul 11, 2022
Throwback:
You can say that again.

As a Christian, I fully concur and support this Muslim-Muslim combo, because of the antecedents and capacity of the duo.

If it was El Rufai chosen, I would have had my reservations.

Tinubu himself is my Christian candidate.

How he managed to return Missionary schools to their majority Christian owners in Lagos 2001, is a testament to his administrative capacity.

Till the last set that was in JSS2 left any of those Christian/Muslim/Non-Religious schools by 2006, no single school fees was paid to the new management, as Lagos State had that responsibility covered.

All the teachers who chose to leave those schools so as not to lose their identity of Lagos State public servants, were absorbed easily into other schools that were depopulated by Christian/Muslim teachers who chose to go as private employees into the schools that now had new management.

Despite the objections from Muslims in Lagos that being majorly Christian owned, the new school operators would convert Muslim students, Tinubu was unrelenting in performing his magic.

In the long run, his administrative brilliance has saved Lagos state the funds that would have been devoted to keep operating those schools from 2001 till date.
He even paid our waec fees!

Hi all. I have 2 questions please.
Someone is planning to get a study permit and travel with a year old baby. On the first page of the application, she picks group application (family) and she completed her own study permit application. To add her one year old baby, what application type should she fill for her? Someone suggested visitor but I don't know if that will limit the baby to 6 months stay with her mother. Please advise

Secondly, she tried to continue to payment few days ago after completing her own application but she got an error and since then she has not been able to access that application because it says pending. Does anyone know the cause of that and way forward?
Thanks

With the intention of applying for change of status to F2, no. But you can if you want to build your travel history, which is also a big odds booster at the embassy

Please if I am to come to the US through another means( another type of visa e.g visiting visa) when I get to the US, can I still apply for a student visa in the united states
There's but a very slim chance. You will most likely be advised to return to your country to apply for F1. So it's not a good plan in my opinion

What if the funding only covers me? I don't know how much I will be required to have in the account to cover my wife and kid.
You will have to request for updated I-20 from your school. It will state the required funds for your dependants. Sometimes your funding will stoll cover for most of the required funds(especially PhD funding), with just little deficit

Okay but the problem right now is that I don’t want to mess my application. I feel with a GA, the probability of having your Visa approved is 50% already and I have a better chance than the other school which I already have an extension letter for late resumption.
Right. With GA you have more than 50% chance. But it is not possible to get the new I20 and update your ds 160 now. That's why I said the best case is for you to try to reschedule this appointment. But if you're unable to, you will not lose anything if you still go for the appointment while also accepting this new offer. If you're scared you might not be approved with the former offer, you can always reapply with the new offer (the GA is enough reason to reapply)

Please I need you guys to advice me on this. I just got a graduate assistantship in a school I applied to last year and I have an interview for another school in abuja next week which I was only offered a scholarship of 18k which was splitted into 9k each for the 2years. I’m confused on what to do.
I would check if I can push forward my appointment for a couple of weeks. I will reply that email immediately and let them know why I need my admission letter and GA offer letter asap so I can request for I-20 asap.
But if you're unable to reschedule to a reasonable date, just go for your interview. You can always switch schools later

Hey guys.

I cried all night and still crying after being denied yesterday.

I totally tended up and blanked out.

Last night all my responses kept flowing in my head and sounded like I was muttering gibberish.

I feel so hopeless.

It was like someone else possessed my body as all I heard rehearsed flew out of my head.

I sent an email to my program director and her response brought more tears to my eyes.

She said she will keep the admission open all through next year, hoping I can join them.

I am afraid to book another date and go through another heartbreak.

I am hiding in my office toilet as I type still crying.

I feel so sad
The ability to post this means there's some strength in you. I can understand your disappointment cos I've been there before. Do not to give up at this time. Prepare for your next interview exhaustively and above all, drop it at God's feet (that's the only assurance).

Thanks so much for responding....I tried using that link you sent to check and this is what it brought.............Your case is open and ready for your interview, fingerprints, and required documents. If you have already had your interview, please check your status after two business days. If no interview was required, please check back in two business days for the status of your application.
For more information, please visit U.S. Consulate
This seems unusual to me. I think it wont hurt to call the Lagos office and tell them what you saw on your visa status

Hello House,

Please I need all the bosses opinion on this.

A friend got admitted for a fully funded PhD, she already started online classes. She intends to go with her child. But she wants to apply for visa with the husband as well, so the husband can come when he is ready. Note: The husband has no plans to stay in the US, he intends to be visiting. The husband is the sponsor for the dependents (himself and the baby).

Is it okay for the husband to be the sponsor in this case?
And is it fine for them to apply together?
I'll advise you apply with your child for now. Since your hubby is the sponsor, it "might" raise some questions in the VO's mind if he is also applying to go with you. He can always apply for F2 after you've gone. He has the right to miss his wife and child, so going on a visit shouldn't be a problem to the VO. This is just to be safe though

Good morning everyone. Please, I'm still waiting for a response, thanks.
You just have to use what is available for you. A very strong reason why the person is spending almost all his money on you will do. If it's your parent, that will be easy. Otherwise the person must be so indebted to you either because of how your parentsvgor him to where he is, or he has been the one footing your school bills from time.
There could be many more reasons though

Yes it makes you appear as a potential immigrant but you can overcome with some other home ties, like you spouse and/or children (if you are married), a good job waiting for you to come back (maybe with promotion), a business you run and so on.
In short, there's no law that says you cant use your bro based in the US, you just need to prove home ties

Bro I legit remember all this conversation with the VO. Immediately, you told him only one school gave you admission and he said, I see the reason you chose the school. I was right behind you praying for you. Cos your shalaye about why you chose the school was not making sense to him. Remember, you thought he was asking what he can find on the website and then you started with off with the school was founded in....he quickly cut you and said. What he cannot find on the website.

Immediately, I started thinking of what I’d say if was asked that question. I particularly paid attention to people’s interview that when it was my turn someone had to even tap me cos it was more like learning from their conversation.

I saw that the VO was returning everybody’s passport I was first perplexed cos I thought if your visa was approved, he’ll keep the passport.
But I saw that most people were issued the white paper.

Then I heard him say, I intend to approve your visa but you’ll have to bla bla...I was like Ogbeni Intend bawo?

It was all good!

I was particularly impressed with the lady who’d be studying applied mathematics. Her interview was superb in my opinion. Then another lady who was going to study geology and her employer would be sponsoring. (I could even share their own transcript )

My visa was approved too. I’ll share my transcript later

Please the lady going for applied mathematics, do you remember he conversation with the VO?

I had the interview on the 16th October, 2020.

I booked a room at a hotel about 2.7km from the consulate. I also was fortunate to meet a driver who agreed to drive me to the consulate at 5am sharp...amd he kept his word... I almost felt goosebumps when he called me 4:59am.
Anyways, I arrived few minutes afterwards with some 5 interviewees waiting. We weren't attended to until few minutes past 6am.

Heads-up... please get all your documents and reciprocity fee ready. Some who came quite early had to fall out of the line to get their stuffs set... And trust the "boys" waiting to overbill you for your unpreparedness.
Shortly, we were ushered in and checked thoroughly and I began to fall back from my 2nd position in line to abt 5th (apparently, a razor was detected in my wallet which I had no premonition about)
Well, I entered sha...verifications and all. My ds160 was for Abuja and upon knowing, I was asked to wait so it can be retrieved to lagos' database. At this time, I was no 17th.
Gladly the consular official (I think he's the infamous Chinese) was just issuing visa o... Abt 14 plus... Only 1 got a yellow slip. I guess he took a break and another dude took over. And fast forward to me... Here it went thus..

Me: good morning
VO: yea, morning, your documents please
Me: hands over

VO: why are you going to US?
Me: I'm going to pursue a Masters degree in Engineering with concentration in petr....

VO: Why this school?
Me: well, besides the fact that it's among the top 10, the....

VO: I know, but why this particular one and not the other 9?
Me: OK, the works of prof... Quite aligns with mine interest and...

VO: so, who's sponsoring you?
Me: I was offered a research assistantship position which caters for the tuition and comes with stipends for my living expenses..

VO: are you married
Me: no

VO: do you have children
Me: no

... VO muted the microphone and started speaking with his colleague saying somethings like.. Yeah he's genuine and all and he's into a research program blah blah... Las Las...
VO : I intend to issue you a visa, go pay at counter 22 ensure your i-20 is with you blah blah...

Me: thank you.. God bless.

I'm profoundly grateful to my friend Prosper for the mockup interviews.. I don't know how to thank my God enough really.
Congratulations bro...

Visa Approved!!

I had a very concise interview. Before I proceed into proper details, permit to use this medium to thank Samuel (Sammy like I fondly call), Fortune, Fairheart, Mathew, Francis, Acers family, and a host of others I am yet to mention; these amazing lads gave me the mock interview and confidence (some deadly guts) to face my fears.

Sunday (4th Oct, 2020) is just like every other day where I casually mailed Lagos consulate with a view of booking an expedited appointment with no much expectations. I barely recall sending a mail that Sunday! On Monday morning, I got a mail from lagos consulate slating an appointment by Friday! FRIDAY? that must be a huge joke! How could I possibly pay sevis fee, fill my DS-160 form, get an updated I-20 to spring, going through the hassles of documents printing in just 4 days?! Hell no... I'm skipping this appointment. I was so damn sure about this on Monday but by Tuesday morning, I reflect on my thoughts and realized how golden this opportunity is. I presented my case before these great guys, Samuel and fortune who offered to help with documents printing errands and transcript drafting respectively, while I take care of other tasks.

Wasn't really thinking of the mock interview preparations until Thursday afternoon after arriving at my lodge close to the Lagos consulate at VI. It was a tedious experience filled with funny memories.

Thanks to the virtual mock interview organized by Mathew, Sam, Francis et al where I was given a friendly but yet, rigorous drilling, critiquing my transcripts which helped in boosting my confidence. Studied through the night with an open but yet prayerful mind...

By morning, I headed straight to the consulate; tho a walkable distance but I booked a cab. Upon my arrival, I focused my gaze on the scanty applicants (about 35 in total) contrary to the usual expectations. I shaped my mind and blended with the cue while I await my faith. Waited for about half an hour before the rain started (that's a story for another day). The CGFI official instructed us on the document arrangements while we align on a single line heading straight to the interview unit..............

The VO is in window 9, probably in his mid 30s. A very wonderful and yet witty conversationalist. He denied about 4 applicants ahead of me and issued 3 approvals. I won’t lie, my morale was dampened but I kept a straight face. A lady just ahead of me was literally begging the VO to reconsider his denial and almost not leaving the spot! (In my head I was like, hey pretty! Leave that spot before you annoy the VO.. don’t implicate me pls........)

Here goes my interview with the VO

VO: Good morning, pass me your passport and I-20.

Me: I obliged.

VO: What are you going to do in the US ?

me: I am going for a Master’s degree in Political science with Concentration in International Relations and Public Policy, in Texas Tech University, Lubbock.

VO: not a single word from him as he kept typing......(I wasn’t sure if he heard me but I kept my cool).. So who is sponsoring your studies?

Me- Well, I was offered a Graduate teaching assistantships with full tuition waiver and some monthly stipends to help offset my living expenses and my uncle will help with the deficits.

VO: ...keeps typing for a couple of seconds, this time around a bit longer than usual. So what does your uncle do?

Me- He works as a Real estate Developer and owns a wholesale supermarket.

VO: where does he work at?

Me: Lagos

VO: okay. ...keeps typing.... So where did you graduate from ?

Me- The University of Ibadan in May, 2018

VO: Have you ever travelled out of the country ?

Me- No sir, I had no reason to.

VO- Are you married ?

Me- No sir.

VO: What is your program start date?

Me: 04 January, 2021

VO: Oh! You said you graduated from University of Ilorin?

Me: No sir, I graduated from the University of Ibadan.

VO: I see... Okay. I will be approving your Visa. have your reciprocity fee paid at window 23 and make sure you make travel plans not more than 30 days before your program start date.. you will need your I-20 at the POE ...........blah blah blah... I smiled as he utter the golden words!!!

From what I observed, the interview lasted less than 2 minutes! No other documents requested. Financial statement was handy but he never asked.
Big congrats bro. This is a case of grace.
Please how can I take advantage of the mock interview? It will really help
Thanks

It's not possible. You ought to have booked for an appointment with SEVIS fee paid before an expedition could be granted.

Some of those that got date today haven't paid the for SEVIS. So, It nullifies the impression that the dates were reserved for some group of persons.
But then at the time when some are getting dates, some are seeing no dates available. There must be a reason for this

There is no option for self fund and other.

I think that question is who is paying for your trip to the US, not who is sponsoring your education

Politics / "80% Of Covid-19 Donations Still Untouched" - PTF by ZionSpecie(m): 10:07am On Sep 15, 2020
Sani Aliyu, national coordinator of the presidential task force (PTF) on COVID-19, says about 80 percent of the N22 billion received to fight the COVID-19 pandemic has not been spent.

Aliyu, at a media briefing on Monday, gave a brief explanation of how the N3 billion spent so far by the PTF was disbursed.
He said security agencies, the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), and the ministry of foreign affairs have received funds from the PTF.

“N22 billion was given to the PTF as the first tranche. Of that N22 billion, we paid N1.2 billion to the security agencies; N250 million to the federal ministry of foreign affairs for the evacuees; we had operational cost to some of the MDAs, but in total we’ve spent nearly N3 billion.
“We still have about N19 billion, of which N8.4 million was given out as procurement by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC); that was approved by Federal Executive Council (FEC).

“Hopefully we will not have to go back to government for a huge tranche of money going into the next six months. And as you are aware, we’ve had tremendous support from the private sector, from the UN single basket, etc.”
Aliyu noted that information would also be provided on the PTF’s expenses “from week to week or month to month”.
“We still have a lot of funds that we hope to reprogramme over the next three months to make sure that they are spent diligently. So, I wouldn’t worry too much if it is money,” he added
