frosbel: The Churches in Nigeria today that are under the banner of modernization or pentecostalism have all become heavily money minded and totally materialistic. Christianity to many Nigerians is the primary way to become quickly rich or wealthy in all ramifications. Churches are now specialists and financial consultants on how to make their members rich through the deceptive message of taking their tithes and offerings and giving them the false hope of wealth or riches in return for their sacrificial givings.

The so called prosperity gospel that entered Nigeria in the early 1980s has produced two very distinct and mixed results in that country since its introduction to the Nigerian Christian community by the visting America's prosperity pioneers and teachers as well as their Nigerian trained and mentored prosperity gospel pastors. The primary beneficiaries from this prosperity gospel or the greed message of religious exploitation are the prosperity teachers who are now super-rich. The tens of millions of their gullible, vulnerable, exploited, deceived followers and givers continue to live day in and day out in midst of hopelessness, abject or chronic poverty that prevents them from enjoying the most basic needs of life, such as a decent shelter, regular nutritional meals, transportation, health care, education, personal savings and decent clothes on their bodies.

BIBLICAL REFERENCES:
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver - 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV Translation).

He that oppresses the poor to increase his riches, and he that gives to the rich, shall surely come to want - Proverbs 22:16.

For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ - 2 Corinthians 11:13.

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself . But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out . And having food and raiment let us be therewith content . But they that will be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and hurtful lusts, which drown men in destruction and perdition. For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after , they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows - 2 Timothy 6:5-10.

Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver - 2 Corinthians 9:7 (NIV Translation)

what a shame! That you can try to deny what you retreated from. Holding to your belief in spite of the scriptures. A big shame!

Look no matter how much concrete examples, illustrations, you give, these poverty stricken, gullible Nigerians won't learn. They tell you that giving is receiving, but you must give rightly. America, despite all the sins in the sight of God is being blessed, to me because of their givings; to many causes, Israel, Egypt, Africa etc . Anytime there is disaster ordinary Americans rose to the occasions and give generously to common cause. I doubt if Bill Gate were to be a Nigerian or black man, he would give to the cause of fighting malaria ravishing his own people.

Good talk, so your church is now a den of robbers, like Gbenga Daniel, Dimeji Bankole and co, since you're making that comparison. At least the Nigerian politicians are sincere ardent sinners,we know them as thieves,so do God.

Unfortunately people like you will never understand the parables, no matter how we explained it. No wonder, the bible says: my people die because they lack knowledge/wisdom/understanding.

Sorry, you will never understand.......lol

I dont want to attack his person. I dont do it. But if he truly is a pastor, he needs to learn how to talk. He does have to use crude words to make his points clear.
I have come to realise that he must be wretched (atleast is thinking is like that of a poor man). When it comes to issue of money especially when we are talking about millions and billions of dollars he seems to have a big issue with it. He seems to think it's demonic to be rich and higly spiritual to be poor.

Pastor Kun:

If the camp ground is always so overcrowded
Why then do they advertise so much for more people to come to their charades anytime they are forming activity there.
Christianity is a choice, people are not forced to attend certain churches.....
The last time I checked, this year's convention publicity is remarkably low because Daddy G.O specifically told us not everybody is invited. The gathering was for "Bone Crackers" and not baby christians - JESUS!.
The overwhelming attendance resulted from the public holiday (muslims), ASUU strike and school holidays for primary and secondary schools.
If everybody is not invited and the convention witnessed such attendance, then common sense should dictate that there is a need for expansion!
Come next year we shall be examining the HOLY SPIRIT under a new auditorium (Amen!)... If Jesus tarries

The question should have been this?.

Did any of the Mog made it compulsory for the members to donate?.

Even if the MOg's are exploiting their gullibility, then let the aggrieved members cry out or better still sensitize them rather than attack the Mog.

I work with my hands, while your pastors steal money from the needy to fulfil lives of luxury and opulence , that's the difference.

Your MOG should go and get real Jobs.

Luke
Mattew, peter, james and john etc all left their jobs....oya ask me aw they fed! Remember Judas was holding the treasury (money) bag...also ask me whose monies was in that bag, also ask me how they got the monies since they left their jobs.

Olodo tongue trust you to come out and defend all the wrong practises going on in churches. If they were just planning an expansion the outrage won't be this much rather they are planning to build a brand new auditorium at a ridiculous cost so that they can accommodate more people in their annual convention. A once a year unnecessary activity
it may be an unnecessary event 2 u but through this event you call unnecessary, great miracles are happening

NOBODY IS AGAINST BUILDING A CHURCH, BUT DOES THE BIBLE ALSO SAY YOU SHOULD SPECIFY WHAT SHOULD BE DONATED AM JUST ASKING A HONEST QUESTION.

Cent 1.
Not speaking for Pastor Adeboye in anyway, but could we consider the perspective that the reason large amounts should go through the personal Secretary is so the donors can be "screened" in case the money is not clean and perhaps be respectfully rejected if so?

Cent 2.
9Km2 isn't too.big, in fact it may help handle the traffic situation on the Expressway; I'm also concerned that some people may unconsciously have the mindset that they can buy their way into heaven with fundraisers like this...but ultimately EVERYONE ANSWERS TO GOD PERSONALLY!
