NO, you won't need it as long as you don't plan to leave the airport especially when it's just a few hours for your connection time.

Could anyone pls inform me on the best way to transport my tv to the uk? Is it best to use a courier or just tag along with it to the airport and book extra luggage? If I use the second option, do I have to worry abt duty fees at the airport and I hope tv license ppl would not try tracking me to my house as I'm yet to get accomodation and don't want to be asked to provide one at POE.

You're 50% just about right. Just without the glitter u mentioned. And maybe I should have mentioned it's a 4D upgrade that is necessary for my thesis on Virtual Entertainment.

Ok I see you all got jokes. The tv is important to me, Now are you guys gonna help or am I gonna be alone on this one?
Re: Nigerian Students In The Uk How Do You Survive? by DisGuy: 1:39pm On Sep 22, 2014
sorry madam

you can always use a courier company, make sure you take out extra insurance, you cant trust those rugrats at our airport with such specialised equipment, all you get is 'Mr Akan is not on seat come tomorrow'

have you considered getting the uni to provide you with something similar if you feel its really important, they are usually very accommodating

Ok, so its not ideal to tag along with it and pay for extra luggage? Do you know any Nigerian owned trustworthy courier service? The last time I used one from the States it was hell getting it done.

I was thinking DHL, UPS, Fedex.... if you cant afford to lose it! or
contact BA or Virgin cargos department and ask about their fragile luggage service from Nigeria

I would advise you go with DHL or Fedex.
Note that they might charge extra for insurance.

50 inches. I don't have the actual dimensions.

jamela:

That is quite big and will cost you a lot bringing it here, courier will charge you a lot just to cover the insurance just in case anything happens to it AND custom may also charge you only if you managed to convince them that you did not order it from outside the UK.

TV licence is a matter of when....that will only cost you about £160 a year..

How you checked the price of the same TV and spec here?

You can always bring it in as checked luggage. They will mark it as fragile and u pay for extra luggage.

Make sure its a good airline not Egyptair. grin
