Some people sha! How did OP arrive at a Lebanese nationality for the guy? I don't know the guy or watch AIT, but merely looking at the name tells me it's highly unlikely that he is Lebanese. |
Culture / Re: An Open Letter To Middle-class Lagos Parents by seeker(m): 9:23pm On Sep 21, 2010 |
I'm not worried about these people the OP is talking about, one bit. They're not even up to 1% of the population. They are insignificant. The one's that concern me are the millions upon millions who will never get the chance to get a proper education, good health and shelter. Those who can only dream of 200,000 in a year for the whole family. Those for whom being yahoo yahoo, kidnappers, robbers and assorted area boys is a real option. If they're not sorted out, they'll be the ruin of this country. The insignificant band of spoilt brats, I don't care about and they don't count (at least statistically) |

I can't believe it. He posts his photo in his profile, uses his first and last name's in his email and declares to the world that he's a criminal. Am I the only one seeing this? I just have to put my conspiracy theory hat on right now. This chap cannot be so stupid (or maybe he is gan sef). He's setting someone up. My guess is the person he's setting up stole his girlfriend and he has cooked up this cruel scheme to get back at him. You are either very sick, or a dirty criminal. Whatever the case, you are quite stupid and belong behind bars, and that's being kind. |

Ignorance is simply not knowing, and it's more accute when you refuse to check up data, and keep up to date. TI stats are not made by politicians and they as current as last year. I did disagree, and there was nothing to figure out. |

Music/Radio / Re: Why Isn't Nigerian Music Very Popular Internationally? by seeker(m): 11:55pm On Dec 29, 2006 |
As usual, as soon as the debate reaches page 2, it starts to degenerate into insults. The simple answer to the question is promotion. When Fela, KSA and other people of that era where making a name, we had international recording companies in Nigeria, promoting our musicians to the so-called international audience. How can you love music you don't know, have never heard. It's impossible. Of course most of them took off in the 80's after the military coup and our economy nose-dived. Once they left, the music industry simply crashed. The interesting thing is that they will come back, because the buzz around Nigerian music is getting stronger, and the environment is becoming better for them to operate in. Show business is just business (like food business, or auto business). |
TV/Movies / Re: Do Nigerians Appreciate Subtlety In Movies? by seeker(m): 11:22pm On Dec 29, 2006 |
@paddy_lo, The audience may not be stupid, but it is obviously lazy. Are you suggesting that we need to have events we have just watched repeated to us twice in the space of 15 minutes? Your saying that the movie is tailored to the audience simply reinforces the position being put forward. I have travelled to many parts of Africa myself and am pleasantly surprised to see how much people take to those movies. In fact I've seen French dubbed over versions of Nigerian home videos where only one voice is used for all the characters in the whole 1 1/2 hr "blockbuster", from start to finish. Better believe it. And they simply love it. Does the fact that people love them automatically make them top quality work? All we are simply saying is they should just try a little harder to be convincing that's all. With regards to subtlety and our culture, I seem to recall a common Yoruba saying with words to the effect that, you don't have to say some things with "all of your mouth". If that is not a cultural allusion to subtlety, then please tell me what it is. |

European Football (EPL, UEFA, La Liga) / Re: Gunners 4-5-1 by seeker(m): 5:05pm On Nov 23, 2006 |
Don't be fooled. That 4-5-1, is really only 4-5-1 when they lose the ball. It's more like 4-4-1-1. Very few teams have their full backs and even defenders join the attack as readily as the gunners do. |
