Scholar8200:I like u broda...it Interests me to see som1 come 4ward with an opposing view. It means we both or one of us will surely learn. Erm, so do u mind I dish u spicy piece that supports my "no rapture"(as we think) theory in the bible? It's obvious u only read the bible passage u quoted above, but u dint understand it in context. P.S: if u don't exactly av some patience(at dis time) to read and understand a sort of long, but time-worthy write-up detailing why what we understand as "rapture" aint in the bible. To save ourselves some productive time; Kindly don't Request it from me. Tnx |
Rapmoney:OP....I appreciate ur effort on such a good topic. You need to be corrected in some aspects of ur write-up, not to mislead readers. I'd also help to enlighten the thread readers on other parts. -------------- 1. When respondin to a knock on ur door, "who is it?" is grammatically wrong! "Who is that?" is actually correct. "It" is a personal pronoun used for inanimate subjects or objects. "Who" is an interrogative 'subject' pronoun used for animate subjects only. "Is" is a linking verb that connects the subject(who) to its subject complement(It). Now, u can't complement an animate subject(who) with an inanimate object(It)...it's wrong coz u've contradicted the nature of the subject(animate) with the subject complement(inanimate). U can only use an inanimate "subject complement" for an "inanimate subject" pronoun. E.g What is it? - "what", here, tells us that the subject(what) is inanimate, hence, complemented with an inanimate term "it". Using "who" means u've acknowledged the person at ur door as bein animate, so, u cud use "that" as it's subject complement. "That" is a demonstrative pronoun that applies to animate or inanimate subjects or objects, which is why it can complement "who" However, thr r many phrases u cud use to answer som1 knocking on ur door. Who is that?, who is at the door?, who's knocking at the door?, who is there? etc ------------------ 2. Agreed. 3. Wrong. Refer to starxx comment for evidence. 4. Agreed, but "all the staff in this firm" aint correct. Simply use "the staff in this firm OR of this firm". REASON: "the staff" in itself already covers "all"...if u must use "all", then I'd advice u put it dis way: "all members of staff". This is just to emphasize that none is left out. We can also say "some members of staff" or "a member of staff" to indicate that not all the members of staff are involved. 5. Agreed. 6 Agreed. 7. Agreed. The reason why "paining" is wrong is coz it's a STATIVE VERB. These types of verbs can't be used in the progressive sense by the usual addition of '-ing'. Stative verbs can't be easily imagined in a finite or infinite sense. Azzin, dem juz dey. Now, let's examine "pain". Give it a tot. Is the word short term or long term?..Is it gonna end soon or gonna be continuous?.. We can't even say...that's why it's stative, so, adding '-ing' sef no gel. It's the way u use it in a sentence that tells the reader what to imagine. E.g it pains me, it pained me, I'm in pain. All the examples above tells us more about the pain due to the addition of other words for clarity. Other popular examples of stative verbs are: see, hear, adore, hope etc U can't add the '-ing' suffix to dem to construct a correct sentence. E.g "I am hearing u" is wrong; as well as "I'm hoping for a change" OR "I'll be seeing u tonite" NOTE: "seeing" in some very rare but distinctive cases, however, might defy this rule. ----------------------- I have no addition or objection whatsoever to the rest. Thanks. |
zzzzy:The word doesn't appear anywhere. This does not need a discerning mind to grasp. That's settled as long as u open the nearest bible... Now, the controversial part. Even what rapture is taken for, doesn't appear in the bible, people mistake the 2nd coming of christ for their interpretation of rapture. Where the Good ones are taken up(caught up), while the bad ones are left behind. Nah!! Error404. I can give u detailed proof with scriptural evidences(if u want) to try convince u(if u would be) that "rapture" is a misnomer spread by religious fanatics, we, unfortunately, call christians. P.S: if u don't exactly av some patience(at dis time) to read and understand a sort of long, but time-worthy write-up detailing why what we understand as "rapture" aint in the bible. To save ourselves some productive time; Kindly don't Request it from me. Tnx |
ADAM & EVE Contrary to popular belief, Adam and Eve were expelled from Eden not because they ate the forbidden fruit of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, but in order to prevent them from eating from the tree of life (both forbidden trees are in Genesis 2:9) which would have made them eternal. God doesn’t like competition! Here is the verse (Genesis 3:22-23): “And he said: Behold Adam is become as one of us, knowing good and evil: now, therefore, lest perhaps he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever. [23] And the Lord God sent him out of the paradise of pleasure, to till the earth from which he was taken.” ---------------------- JONAH WAS NOT SWALLOWED UP BY A WHALE We all know the tale of Jonah and the whale(since we were kids)… but how well do we know it? Well enough to know that he wasn’t eaten by a whale? It was no mammal that ate Jonah – it was a huge fish – though its type is not mentioned. Of course, I am presuming that any smart xtian reading this list would wanna question my assertion. Well, here is the eye opener: the book of jonah recorded it was a fish(tho of an unmentioned type). This confusing "whale" term came from the book of Matthew 12 vs 40 where it was used with reference to that story. The bone of contention here is the translation errors involved. Yet again, I know some religious fanatic reading this( the types that would refuse to fault the bible for anything) would still disagree, in an attempt to debate that both bible references mean the same thing. Just chill, Sir/Ma, A whale is not a fish. #Q.E.D ---------------- THERE's NO SUCH THING AS RAPTURE The “Rapture” is not in the Bible! Despite being believed by a large number of christians (many of whom also believe that only that , which is in the Bible can be true; Yea rite! "Rapture" aint in the bible.) it was actually invented in the 1600s by one Cotton Mather – otherwise famous for murdering women by strangling them to death (by hanging) in the Salem witch trials. The term in the Bible commonly mistranslated to the word “rapture” actually comes from the Greek ἁρπάζω (harpazo) which actually means “caught up” or “taken away” and it refers to one person only (Philip). ---------------- P.S: Opposing views are welcomed. Atleast open your bible and read thoroughly(and understand in context) before coming forward with a debate. |

The sun became earth's primary source of light only when it was created..its creation was for it to function as a subsistent source of light production on its own. *God did not create light*, he commanded it to surface from an unknown but temporary Source, obviously for the purpose of creation. "Let there be light" does not connote creation, God simply commanded it to appear. Interestingly, in the case of the sun, the terms "created" or "made" was used(depends on the bible translation). When he was done with creation, the primary source of light(the sun) was now permanent and self-servicing, which emphasizes the essence of its creation. --------------- I'm not an Atheist, but quite frankly, u've got no case here(atleast an intelligent one) |

Currently, the world record for longest kiss belongs to Thailand’s Ekkachai and Laksana Tiranarat. They made history in 2013 by kissing for 58 hours, 35 minutes, and 58 seconds at a Ripley’s 'Believe It Or Not' Event. They broke the former record, held by Andrea Sarti and Anna Chen, in convincing fashion. Back in 2004, Sarti and Chen kissed for 31 hours and 18 minutes. The two only stopped because they nearly passed out—Chen had to lie down while Sarti actually ended up requiring oxygen. Their story had a happy ending, though, as Sarti used the $12,700 prize money to marry Ms. Chen. Even among non-record holders, the amount of kissing the average person does is amazing. Studies have shown that the average person kisses for two total weeks throughout their lives. Most people burn around 1,560 calories for every hour of kissing, meaning the average person loses 30,240 calories over a lifetime simply by locking lips. Of course, this all depends on what type of kiss you engage in. A quick smooch isn’t going to do much of anything, after all. But if you work hard enough at kissing, leaving you gasping for breath, Hurray!! you’re definitely burning some fat. Do Nigerian guys even kiss long sef?...azzin...before the kissing starts fully, they're alredi looking for the bra hook with one had..the other hand between her thighs...lolz..smh |
EmperorLee:I checked several translation versions, none used "HAD formed" aside NIV and NIRV... All I need is a form of context that proves ur "he had formed"... Kindly paste here, in verbatim, a bible translation that cited that "he HAD formed"..nd don't forget to provide the bible version u culled it from.. Let's keep in mind that "formed" & "had formed" are not the same..they imply different things with respect to the time being referenced. Except u wanna tell me these bible translations disagree in their expressions of what they are meant to agree on. |
the phrase "new boko haram leader" atleast has cemented the fact that Shekau was indeed killed da year, despite their shameful denial of the fact.. |
naijadeyhia:Lolz..u don't av to be bitter..even we, the theists, stil gon bcum manure as with the same atheists u talkin bou..nd the same gospel wil continue.. So watz ur point mahn? |

malvisguy212:I appreciate ur attempt at an explanation, howbeit unsatisfactory.. Lemme hope som1 else amongst various viewers of this thread, Mans Up and attempt a logical explanation for this too |
Why are ppl sorry only when they get caught? Someone sorry enuf to get caught, shud be sincere enuf to admit they knew very well what they doin was pure betrayal and dey stil went ahead wit it anyways. If you're sorry, you wouldn't have done it in the first place. Atimes, "I'm sorry" means "I'll be smarter next time" On the other hand, if u're really sori for the deed, why not turn urself in by confessing upfront? What makes the Forgiving stage so annoying is the fact that u keep askin urself "if he/she is really sori, why wait til getting caught?"... I sometimes don't blame unforgivin people It's almost impossible to knw if their apology is sincere with many "what ifs" going thru ur mind. At the end, it all boils down to "lemme just forgive anyways".. FORGIVING indeed takes a special kinda courage.... #thinkingaloud |
Genesis 1 vs 20 - 25 narrates the creation of all animals on earth before Man was eventually created in 'vs 26 - 27' Genesis 2 vs 18 - 19 tells us otherwise, that Man was created 1st before all the animals on earth, with an emphasis on the fact that Adam actually named all the animals himself. Is Moses, the acclaimed writer of Genesis(as they'd like us to bliv), confused? OR Is this an indication that the book of Genesis was crafted by more than 1 author? Cc: malvisguy212 |
SpeedndAccuracy:I'm not interested in what u fink, but what u can prove, CONVINCINGLY. |
malvisguy212:Hmmn..unfortunately, thrz no citation to buttress urs..but that doesn't give u room to disprove mine..lemme help u..sinx u said u cudnt get a reference From the search.. U were looking for a text that specifically calls Abel the 2nd born..lolz...u seem to 4get no text specifically calls Cain the Firstborn either..but somehow, we both, unconsciously agree that he is the 1st born..for 2 reasons.. 1. The bible recorded his birth first, but dint specifically state him contextually as the 1st born. Yet u agree he is..so, goin by ur theory on Abel, A daughter might have been born b4 cain also(sinx no text specifically mentions him as the Firstborn. 2. We followed the events of their birth in progression(with common sense) that he was mentioned 1st as bein birthed, wherein we av to take as him bein the 1st, sinx no other text contradicted this assumption. ---------------- Genesis 4 vs 1-2 King James Version (KJV) 1. And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain(1stborn), and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. 2. And she AGAIN bare his brother Abel(i2nd born). And Abel was a keeper of sheep, but Cain was a tiller of the ground. --------------------------------- It dint say " and she again bare a second son or second male child" Lemme put it in layman terms.. Mrs. Maxwell conceived and bore Malvis(1st born), and again bore his brother, Ben(this is a direct implication that I'm the 2nd born nd I apun to be male, which is why "brother" was used)..so, if the writer wants to imply Abel as the 2nd son and not 2nd born, he/she would av made a clause somwhr else to indicate such. This clause(in citation or direct implication) is what I asked of u dat u av refused to present. This is an argument of the contextual citation OR direct implication of a statement...as evidence that Abel was/wasn't the 2nd born. I'm not interested in what you think shud be(it doesn't improve the quality of ur perspective), I'm concerned with what is, which is implied by the writer in the composition of his/her writing. I made do with what I av from my presentation of citations and references; not what I fink shud be. Mornin..aw's ur nite? |
malvisguy212:I get ur point, u're only going around in circles while I sit here waitin for u to cite a biblical reference that succinctly implies Abel as not being the second born.. Therein, the debates bcums more interesting whereby I try disprove the semantics of whateva citation u present..that way, we both learn from new angles to dis.. I'd like to drop this debate with u, if we wanna proceed into illogically hypothetical perspectives of this issue. It would appear to defeat reason rather than improve it. |
malvisguy212:Lolz..the only prob here is that you're trying to make sense for the person who wrote that Genesis(claiming it was moses)..More like u are afraid to question indiscrepancies and reason...coz it's the bible...??...bro, I'm a xtian too but a thinking one. U said "This only make sense when his brothers and sister are upset that cain had kill their brother"...but what if the writer actually made unintended errors(as it semantically appears) that there are no brothers and sisters(as u tried to invent via provisional reason) involved anywhere..?? Calling a spade a spade aint that hard u knw...? I actually love ur reasoning pattern..despite the fact that it refuses to satisfy the dying answers this topic TRUTHFULLY needs. I av a more controversial thread to open tomoro, I'll mention u thr.. P.S: I don't argue to be right, but to learn and see angles to an issue I might av missed |
Scholar8200:The length of time from when abel was killed to the time after the 5th generation of cain's descendants is not a definition of FRESH...these are years..not days I alredi acknowledged the birth of seth in my prior comments..so that's a drawback. Kindly note that we're stil goin in circles...there's stil no evidence from our citations and references in this debate that someone worthy to be a threat to cain was in existence as at when he made the "whoever finds me will kill me" statement(as the bible puts it) In the original post of this thread.. |
malvisguy212:You don't invent people who play no roles. Even if they would be invented, there shud be evidential trails on how they came to the picture. You mentioned some figures, strangely, no1(not even u) cud give a plausible explanation for where dey came from..rather, u gave hypothetical views to answer these questions on the probability of being descendants. This issues raises more curiosity. U say Abel was the second son and not the. 2nd born, the bible dint state anywhere that it gave preference to the mention of Abel's name because it was a SON...nah.. The bible simply put that, Cain's brother was conceived, who apund to be Abel. Not "another SON was concieved". Even in cain's case, it was the same. Kindly abate that perception which has to do with the Sex of the children being Male that Made the bible deem them worthy of mention. |
Scholar8200:Kindly note that cain was a bachelor when the curse was placed upon him for the murder of his brother, Abel. There was no other person around(according to the bible) aside his parents.. Any descendant of Adam dint come until cain married a wife and bore children(where this strange lady came from is a story for anoda day). Lamech aint cain's sibling, as this is the only condition by which he would have been around as at when cain was cursed. After the curse incident was when cain went to get settled down somewhere else and probably get married thereafter. ---------------- Genesis 4: 16 16. Then Cain went out from the presence of the LORD, and settled in the land of Nod, east of Eden. -------------------------------- Lamech is a 5th generation descendant of Cain. ------------------------ Genesis 4: 17-18 17 And Cain knew his wife; and she conceived, and bare Enoch(1st generation): and he builded a city, and called the name of the city, after the name of his son, Enoch. 18 And unto Enoch was born Irad(2nd generation): and Irad begat Mehujael(3rd generation): and Mehujael begat Methusael(4th generation): and Methusael begat Lamech(5th generation). ------------------ As at the time Lamech was born, Abel was long gone. Now, according to genesis, as at the time of lamech, Adam and Eve had no other child aside Cain. Not until Genesis 4: 25 wherein Seth was conceived and it was emphasized therein that the arrival of seth soothed their hurt over Abel's death which is a strong indication that no other child had come until seth. --------------- Genesis 4: 25 25 And Adam knew his wife AGAIN; and she bare a son, and called his name Seth: For God, said she, hath appointed me ANOTHER SEED INSTEAD OF ABEL, whom Cain slew. --------------------- The child that came after abel's death was seth, none other, which is why the importance of his birth was well reiterated in verse 25 above. Eve actually gave him that name. The first time Adam had carnal knowledge of Eve was in Genesis 4: 1, the second time was in Genesis 4: 2, while the 3rd time was in Genesis 4: 25 Lamech was not present when cain was cursed..tnx Cc: malvisguy212 |
HardMirror:Too bad u wasted all this equations to no end.. A mountain's height(peak is a berra term tho) is not a constant factor..two things however nullifies your apt theory.. 1. Mount Everest might not be the highest peak in the world as at then, it might not even exist as at this said time, you don't know that for sure and no evidence so far, points to that. 2. Quite funny it is that the ascertained age of mt. Everest is a lot more than the age of mankind sinx creation(according to the bible)..everest is over 60millions years old, but the time of Noah's ark to present(according to biblical chronology) is not even up to quarter of everest's age. It's either science or the bible is lying and confused. Unfortunately, we, again, don't knw for sure which to trust. |
Scholar8200:Hmmn...I get 2 msgs from ur comment..but I don't wanna gv a reply that might derail the matter at hand..so I'd rather hold that thought for now.. How does lamech come in here plz..kindly clarify.. Coz lamech himself was a murderer, to suffer the same fate as cain's whereby God ensures their staying alive to suffer a barren life. By dat time, for some strange reason, God punishment for murder Wasn't death but to stay alive and experience a sort of fruitless life. So he marks them for compulsory existence to suffer the consequence of deeds, hence, any1 who kiils them is marked for castigation in greater folds. This was the essence of the verses u emboldened above in the case of lamech who knows the consequences of the murder he committed and is the one speaking to his wives on his fate. |
Drabeey:Atleast u've admitted the obvious..#CaseSettled.. I also tender my apology for pointing out ur cluelessness. I really dint mean to imply ur stupidity..It neva occurred to me that u alredi knew. |
