PoliticsRe: Reps Ask ECOWAS To Stop Deportation Of Nigerians From Ghana by 2good(m): 9:14am On Jun 25, 2012
scopusng: WHAT A SHAME. GHANA? CHEI, MOGBE.
Nigeria has never been a great country in Africa so why are you surprise? All we do is brag about our population and oil like having natural resources with no brain to develop them will make a country prosper. We need to start facing reality before anything can work.
CareerRe: The Top 10 Best Companies To Work For In Nigeria by 2good(m): 8:20pm On Jun 24, 2012
Phonon: That list is severely flawed.Anyway, what do I know? This is my personal list of top companies to work for in Nigeria and it is based on career progression, good remuneration(including pension, health benefits etc),brand value and meritocracy. This list is not exhaustive and is in no particular order.

1.Mckinsey & Co.
2.Accenture
3.Citibank
4.Ericsson
5.GE
6.Aviat Networks

I am excluding oil and gas companies because I think the only attractive point is the huge wages.Career progression is slow if not non-existent.
I worked for Citibank in Nigeria and I will say it is a crappy place to work. So much politics and the Nigerian factor at play there and worst of all, salary is crappy. I actually left Citibank for Equitorial Trust Bank back then. The oil and gas sector is still the best place to work in terms of training, renumeration, career advancement etc. There is always politics everywhere but the oil and gas industry is still the best.

ijawkid: Please show me where in d bible that says men shuld dis-respect women.??

Who says we shuldnt respect women??

The african mentality fosters that, but nt d holy scriptures my bro......

Once again I'll ask u 1 simple question

WHO IS D HEAD OF YOUR HOUSE HOLD??
We are partner and work together in making decision on how our life should be while also understanding our limits as human being.
Christianity EtcRe: Should Women Be Silent In Churches? by 2good(m): 7:31pm On Jun 24, 2012
okeyxyz: lwkmd cheesycheesy
so you believe there's an absolute answer for all facets of human/natural phenomenon. of course we cherry pick because each situation requires it's own unique solution. I'm assuming you r a smart person, so you'd know that law court does not apply a particular legal principle to all events, the law has to cherry-pick to suit the occasion. the same applies in mathematics, management & all science for that matter. so why can i not determine where my spiritual life stops & the corporate/academic/etc life begins?
I like your honest response. But unfortunately, during the course of cherry picking, different people come up with different interpretation for thesame bible text, causing confusing and creating more problem for the society. That is why you have different Christian groups interpreting thesame bible you have in different way. Atleast in many western countries, you have women being the head of churches and nobody complains because they were able to interpret the bible to suit themselves. But in Africa, the men mostly are still bent on holding on to the interpretation that favours them so that they can still be in charge of women.
Christianity EtcRe: Should Women Be Silent In Churches? by 2good(m): 7:26pm On Jun 24, 2012
ijawkid: Ur so ignorant because ur comparison doesn't fit what we are talkin about...

This is about arranged headship.....

This is how it has always been......

Ur head to ur wife......

If u still dnt know that then u need a brain check.......

A white man feels his more superior to a black man just because @ one time or the other he was more priviledged, not because from d onset he was created 1st or it was written in d scriptures....
Remember that the early European slave owners also used the bible to justify their superiority over the black race and the reason why black servitude to the white is a thing of natural order. You still ignorant because your having two balls between your legs does not make you better than a woman who is smart.

ijawkid: As for that principle in d bible it applies to everytin......

If u had read 1 corinthians 11:3 I quoted u wuld have understood d whole gist.....

But ur heads are bent on critisizing d scriptures.....
All senseless cock and bull story

ijawkid: And for ya questio::::n.....I .respect women À lot even more than u do.........

Haven't u read d scriptures that talks about how husbaÑds shuld treat there wives??

U want me to quote them??

U dnt jus deliberate on a verse frm d bible and give peurile explanations to them....

Immature minds!!!!!!!!!
I have a wife so I speak from the experience of being married. I don't need to read the bible or any book to know I should love my wife (who by the way is a serious Christian and I give her her religious space) because common sense tells me she is a human being that deserves to be respected irrespective of what I was taught as an African male child that I am superior to girls.

okeyxyz: Again, I say to you: "give to ceasar what belongs to ceasar & to god what belongs to god!"
Why can i not differentiate between spiritual & non-spiritual things?
What you just did is cherry picking. You selectively pick bible verses to favour your immediate need. The number 1 problem with religion is that the holy books are open to interpretation and different people interpret it in different ways to suit their interest and that is what you just did.
Christianity EtcRe: Should Women Be Silent In Churches? by 2good(m): 6:58pm On Jun 24, 2012
ijawkid: We are talking about d christian congregation ur talking about d cooperate world.....

Do they sound alike??

Because of ur mentality women no longer respect men anymore.....

No respect for headship......

Rubbish!!!!!!!!!!
Do you respect women in return? So you think because you have a male organ you are superior to a woman? You are as ignorant as a white racist that believes he is better than a black man because he has a white skin.
Christianity EtcRe: Should Women Be Silent In Churches? by 2good(m): 6:48pm On Jun 24, 2012
okeyxyz: of course! Infact, i'd had two women bosses but the word is corporate, not spiritual, you seem to be mixing the two.
No I am not mixing the two. You said God made woman to be a helper to the man and such she is answerable to a man while the man is answerable to God alone. Helper did not specify whether it is spiritual or physical.
Why then breaking that rule when it comes to your own survival as a man?
Christianity EtcRe: Should Women Be Silent In Churches? by 2good(m): 6:37pm On Jun 24, 2012
okeyxyz: on spiritual principles, god has made woman subject to the man and for the man's "use", as a "helper/companion", likewise, the man is created a "helper/companion" for god's use. Bible says the head of man is christ, and the head of woman is the man, so a woman cannot pass spiritual judgement in a church. I don't mean she can't lead a prayer session, rather she cannot establish the liturgy or patterns or worship of that congregation. she can follow them, but cannot decide them. hope i'm making sense?

let's go back the first lesson in the garden of eden: when eve eat the "forbidden fruit" as far as god was concerned, it did not matter there's no covenant between god & eve. eve was adam's "business", but the moment adam touched that fruit, that's when all hell broke lose.
Africa still have a long way to go with your reasoning. Its really a pity that people will regards you as a leader with a God given authority. Have you ever worked under a woman in a cooperate environment?
Christianity EtcRe: Should Women Be Silent In Churches? by 2good(m): 6:00pm On Jun 24, 2012
okeyxyz: women cannot hold spiritual authority over men!
that's the reason paul gave the commandment.
why?
Christianity EtcRe: Should Women Be Silent In Churches? by 2good(m): 4:33pm On Jun 24, 2012
I am surprised that Christians are this sexist. Why do women still cling on to religion with all these discrimination they experience from the men? Both Christianity, Islam and Judaism all have discrimination against women yet women look for excuse to justify their relegation to a second class status. Really funny

ayobase: My friend, how do u read and pass?
What back up do you want.....go study Corinth's history and come back to share d applications!
See how you are regurgitating what someone else said. Can't you try and have an independent mind and thought? Also what do you know about Corinthian history before telling someone to go and research about the Corinthians? You will still end up quoting what some pastor or fellow Christian have interpreted to be the truth with absolutely no single proof to back up your claims except your words.

yoged: Its not proper and not right for a women to lead in a church.... Those saying 1corinthian13:34 is only applicable to the women in corinthian ? What about the account of 1Timothy 2:11-13. Was Apostle paul refering to the Corinthian women also? Those 2 accounts is there for our purpose too not for only those that lives during the Apostle time. Another point is that the book of 1st Corinthian was written when apostle paul was in Ephesus and he finished writing it in 56c.e( christ era) while 1st Timothy was written by apostle paul in Macedonia, completed time was between 61-64 c.e..... The account of 1corinthians 11:3 says the head of every man is the christ while the head of a woman is a man......
Do you believe in the crap you just wrote?

That was why ApOSTle Paul was giving them His personal openion to corintian Women and duty. GO AND READ BIBLE HISTORY BASIS. Thanks to other pastor around here
Where is the evidence for your allegation against the Corinthian women?

caye: In other words, you are saying that the physical condition of a man may IN CERTAIN SITUATIONS determine his level of happiness? Love that. Hope you talk to the hyper-ventilated self help gurus who believe that they can't be unhappy regardless of what happens to them, which sometimes i'm tempted to believe myself. Only that if one experiences what Nigerian religious and economic refugees experience, one may go totally insane from despair and depression.
If the method used by these self help gurus to find happiness works well for them, then its good for them. We are all unique and should learn now not to make what have been set before us to be our absolute standard in life.
RomanceRe: You Are Responsible For Your Own Happiness by 2good(m): 12:54pm On Jun 24, 2012
caye: But happiness must have some minimum foundation; Dale Carnegie talked about : having the basics of existence (food, clothing, shelter), good relationship with the outside world, sex, laughter and a reasonable religion. Let me throw a challenge to you: when can you say a man is happy?
I can say when I'm happy and not another man because that will result to stereotyping. Basic law of economics states that human want is insatiable. I remember when I was doing my BSc, I saw earning 100k naira salary as a mega salary. But after earning a reasonable multiple of that figure over time, I ask myself what I really need to be satisfy. Everybody have different problem, goals and aspiration depending on their current status. Most EU citizens are not so bothered about saving for retirement because they have good social security, good pension program and on a worst case scenario you'll stay in a government house when you're old. But in Africa and most Asian countries, you are on your own and that sole reason makes people not to work for just today but also the future when their body starts to fail them and they have no where to go for help.
Your current state determines your reasoning and expectations from life.
RomanceRe: You Are Responsible For Your Own Happiness by 2good(m): 12:34pm On Jun 24, 2012
caye: I suspect that the universal goal of mindkind all these centuries has been happiness. When nations go to war; to invade other countries, the end goal is to increase their own happiness; regardless of who gets trodden down, sex is all about happiness, even a terrorist believes that ULTIMATELY he or she would have happiness IN A HEAVENLY BROTHEL after killing or being killed. Everything about humans is to achieve that ultimate goal:HAPPINESS.
You are so on pint except that people think happiness have a universal definition and refuse to accept the fact that what makes them happy might not make others happy, hence they use their authority to impose their believes and ideology on others.

caye: Very true my friend. But don't forget that nairaland is about first and foremost about Nigeria. All other things follow.
I agree with you except that a sane person appears to be insane in a society where majority of the people are insane.
RomanceRe: You Are Responsible For Your Own Happiness by 2good(m): 12:14pm On Jun 24, 2012
caye: except when you don't have the right information, inspiration and environment(never mind the selfhelp gurus). John Nash was lucky because he came from a society almost devoid of they mythical. Imagine if it were to be Africa: the numbers of Pastors that would prophesy that you had a demon, the traditional healers who would see a curse on you, the rejection by your family since you're 'weird' and poverty plus it's cousin, starvation, since the mentally stable are still jobless themselves(don't forget :John Nash still had a job after the crisis and a loving wife), if that happened to you ,HAPPINESS MAY BE IMPOSSIBLE.
Now you are raising a special scenario which is the problem with Nigeria. I try not to discuss Nigerian problem these days because I believe that the Nigerian culture and its societal mentality is the main problem and each time I raise this, people call me anti Nigeria. This is a country where people are celebrated for their wealth without its source queried, parent put pressure on children to be successful and over 80% of the population believe the solution to their problem is God as they have been fed from birth. Infact the problems are so infinitely many that nobody can analyse them as there will always be an unresolved loophole somewhere.
RomanceRe: You Are Responsible For Your Own Happiness by 2good(m): 12:07pm On Jun 24, 2012
BoboYekini: In essence you are advocating conscious delusion(creating one's own world) as a means to being happy all the time? That's madness na.
Not conscious delusion. The society brainwash everybody from birth as to what is happiness and what is sadness and we all try to live within the definition and expectation of the society which however, have been set by people before us. Most of us live a life based on some program written by the society and feel unfulfilled when we deviate from such expectations even when its the best for us.

caye: Have you ever heard of a disease called' schizophrenia', whose line of attack is the mind; rendering it useless by means of delusions, and voices which limit a man's happiness and joy. If u watched the film 'A Beautiful Mind 'concerning a man called John Nash, you will understand; that happiness has physical, environmental and genetic dimensions which can be difficult; if not outrightly impossible for some people to achieve at a point in time.
Almost Every deformity, disease or infection can be managed. Prof. John Nash (Starring Russel Crowe) was still able to control his schizophrenic disease later in life by learning how to manage those illusions. Stevie wonder has been blind for 62 years but have tried to create his own world for himself and not allow society to dictate what is happiness. People choose the way they want to live their life within the confine of the constraints of nature.
Christianity EtcRe: The Argument Against Atheism In Nigeria? by 2good(m): 10:27am On Jun 24, 2012
Mr_Anony: Nonsense, Venezuela is a communist state and yet it is More than 90% catholic. Communism by definition is not necessarily atheist

A secular government is neutral on the issue of religion An atheist state will try to enforce it's "no-God" Ideology much like an islamic state will be biased towards islam.

atheism is much closer by definition to anti-religion than it is to secularism
Do you think Hugo Chavez will be this tolerant if Venezuela have close to the number of Nukes the Russians have? Aggression has a linear relationship with military strength and not just ideaology. The Russians almost single handedly defeated the Nazi in WW II as 8 in every 10 German soldier killed in WW II died in the hand of a red army soldier. They even launch the last battle against Hitler in Berlin and hoisted the Russian flag at the German Reichstag in Berlin at the end of the war. They also occupied all of Eastern Europe after WW II without facing an opposition. Such was the strength of the Russians when Joseph Stalin was alive that anything was possible without the Americans and other Western European powers combined opposing them.

fluid26: It is not totally true. People, events and circumstances have strong effects on your happiness.

The mind is an amazing thing. However, it does not stand alone. It feeds off a myriad of variables.
No matter the circumstance you find yourself, you are still the one responsible for any possible happiness you might get in life based on what you fix as your priorities

FXKing2012: These atheists and unbelievers act like children clamoring for instant gratification; they want to see changes from the very moment spiritual pronouncements are made. Think of it this way: when a spiritual pronouncement is made, the door has been opened for something to pass through. Now, it may take a while for the thing to pass through but it will definitely pass through as long as the door is left open.
Will you just shut up and stop making reason demeaning post.

Someone posted this on her facebook wall and I taught I share because its Interesting.

"Even a successful atheist is a religious atheist! because he must continue 2 maintain certain strict tenents of belief or belief systems, which is wat regious is all abt. D only difference between anatheist & monotheist is dat d latter believes in his God,while d former believes in himself.”Bt a self-made man is self-destroyed man“D. O.Oyedepo"
Oyedepo is a fraud star using people's gullibility to gain popularity. Stop this nonsense of making him look like a role model just because many Nigerians refuse to use their brain to think for themselves but instead prefer to be spoon fed by people who are not better than they are.
Atheism is not a religion but a lack of belief in religion!

FXKing2012: The U.S. government has listed leaders of BH on their list of terrorists, this means the whole world is coming down on the organisation. This is no coincidence coming just weeks after Bishop Oyedepo's curse. I've always said a curse does not have to take effect immediately, sometimes it takes a while.

Christianity EtcRe: The Argument Against Atheism In Nigeria? by 2good(m): 6:10am On Jun 22, 2012
Mr_Anony: if all Nigerians were one religion, there will also be less division
This is not true. Within Christendom, you have alot of denominations(Catholic, Pentecostal, Jehovah's witness, 7th days Adventist, Mormon, etc) that are competing for superiority. A friends wife (who is a Jehovah's witness) was sacked from her job because she refused to attend a religious program organised by her boss because of her religion. Even in Islam, you have the Shia, Sunni, Wahhabi etc. Religion will always divide people
