musKeeto: PS: I'm having a hard time referring to you as CHEERS..very funny at bolded. ![]() |
messiah: The latest bombings can be easily explained. There was some heat on Otedola and his superiors who diverted attention to Faruk Lawan by exposing the corruption in his. Faruk on the otherhand had to solicit the services of BH or some other people under the guise of BH to ease off the heat on him. And thus these bombings. In as much you are trying to display some humour here, also try to be sensitive to serious issues! |
FXKing2012: As a Christian, I do not support violence under any guise. I think what we need do is pray and watch. Think to yourself, what would Jesus do?Is it not obvious your prayers doesn't work? All we need to do is sit down with ourselves on a round table and agree on how we want to live together in peace. Praying till eternity will not solve any problem. |
ayobase: Hmmmm! My religious orientation is not your business so stop all the hating. Do what you want to do, mind your business and look for something good to do with your life. I tire for my fellow black people! |
Ivynwa: @ShymmexI am very impressed to see a Nigerian woman reason like this because most I come across are usually very docile especially when it comes to indoctrination and superstitious believes. The problem with the black race is that we refuse to accept that we have problem and each time I raise this issue issue among my Nigerian friends, they insult me and say I am anti Nigeria. I have almost given hope on the country because educated people that should be the one to bring about change, allow the Nigerian factor to becloud their reasoning. I hope all this little clashes here and there will not lead to an all out civil war. |
FXKing2012: It may also lead to an escalation and thus more violence. This is disturbing; I fear for the unity of my country. Its so funny that thesame you who said Bishop Oyedepo's curse is beginning to work on Boko Haram and that their demise is imminent is thesame person that is afraid of the unity of his country. Can't you see that you are living a life of denial? You have to see that these MOG in Nigeria just take advantage of the gullibility of Nigerians and milk as much as they can from them. Have you heard any of them speak out or give a press conference today? Nigerians need to wake up and kick religion(including Christianity and Islam) out of its boarders. |
Ovaiegbe: I must say, I agree with you here. Its not about religion, its about the God or god that lives in you? Can you truely say which one really lives in you?The Jews don't believe in Jesus Christ so how can Christians be Jewish when the Jews doesn't believe in your god? |
ayobase: As far as Im concerned, marrying an atheist is synonymous to marrying a fool. You seem to be very intolerant and you are as foolish as the Atheist you call fool. Why not marry your church sisters and just shut up. With all the religion and god you people make noise about, what have Nigeria achieved? You Christian brothers are currently involved in a war with the Muslims in Northern Nigeria and you call neutral people fool. You need to have your head examined. |
The only reason I am not happy about this insecurity situation is because both the Christian and the Muslim god does not exist. Why are my country men killing them selves over imaginary foreign gods? Its really a pity! |
Have not been hearing the news of church bombing and shootings by Boko Haram? That is enough for people to start to hate Islam and its components. |
Default01: A friend of mine applied 4 adm at PTI and also FUTMINNA bt his course was changed 4rm elect engg to microbiology at FUTMINNA he decided to go to PTI ND and HND nw he is happy bcus dats wot his heart told him just follow ur heart OAU wont b de one 2 get u a good job u will determine ur own faith.my advice to u is just b wise ma guyYour friend is happy because he's not yet in the labour market. I have seen extremely brilliant people living a life of misery and discrimination just because they have HND. Its an unfortunate situation but that's how Nigeria operates today. The decision you make today determines your progression for your entire working life except you have your own company. |
Goldieluks:Why I agree that it is wrong for me to say the bible is bullshit, I also know it is very wrong for religious people to quote from the bible and call me fool because I refuse to accept their god. If Christianity is practiced without labelling non believers with bad names, people will not be so bothered. But you guys are very much like the muslims except the muslims go way further in making sure that people either accept it or be damned. That is very wrong. I strongly believe that the bible need a strong revision to cope with the way of life of the modern times |
Goldieluks:You call me ignorant for refusing to believe what I was forced to accept as a child? You have brain to reason so i'll advice you to use it. What if I tell you that the Jewish Torah or the Quran is the true book of god and not the bible what would you say? Your parent and family indoctrinated you to believe what you believe so stop talking like you have absolute fact to buttress your believes. |
Sweetlemon: I can see people here avoided the question I asked earlier. And I ask again. For those of us who call God our father, Can you marry someone who does not recognize, respect, or value someone you call your father?? Can you marry someone who disrespects your father so much that he spells his name with small letter "g", calls him a hoax or a nonentity. Will you marry someone who puts your father down in public? Would you?Have you taken time to study other religions to know that your god is just one of the thousands of gods out there? Stop presenting your god like you can prove his existence. And also, I can't prove your god doesn't exist in thesame way I can't prove other gods doesn't exist so don't ask me that question. Furthermore, if you want people to give your god a special place then you must prove he exist. |
Turbocharged: He is an abomination before God. The bible call him a f.oo.l.The bible called him fool because the bible is BULLSHIT!!!!!! |
crackhouse: first of all, Mark Zuckerberg is not worth up to $4b let alone $15b. So mind ur figure. Secondly, Mark is not an aetheist, i don't know where u guys get such stupid facts. U just coined a baseless fact and start selling it to people that care to buy. Is" Mark" not a christian name? And why did he do wedding if he's an atheist, because with the wedding, it shows he believe in God's words.Do you do general reading at all? Try to be do some research before you type anything on your keyboard. For the financial worth of Mark Zuckerberg, click this link http://www.forbes.com/profile/mark-zuckerberg/ He was born a Jew but dropped his Jewish religion to be an Atheist. If you watch the roots where 'Kunta kinte's' name was forcefully change to Tobi, you will understand that your name is not always a true reflection of what it means. Is like most of you religious people only read the bible. The world is a bigger, more complex and interesting place than you all think. The internet is a place to learn new things so use it wisely. |
all4naija: You are talking to an Atheist! I am a free thinker. So, I don't think God exist in any form depicted by Theists nor anything unproven about nature should be equated or pointed to a god or God.ok good.So we're on thesame page! |
all4naija: Maybe, it would be better to say that certain things take time to find out or to be known.Proof to me that God exist and don't quote from the bible please |
401kk: As an agnostic, I absolutely see nothing wrong in marrying a reasonable and matured-minded christian or atheist. Beliefs shouldn't cause acrimony in a relationship.Thought you are a religious freak!! |
SNCOQ3: Speaking of narrow mindedness, do you truly have an idea what happens when atheists gain complete control of any society or institution? What you just did is Cherry Picking. I watched the video completely. Science and Religion don't mix you have to understand that. You documentary was basically about science rejecting the creationist theories. What do you think will happen if I send a Darwinian write up to a Christian organisation for publication? Do you think they will accept it? The problem is that there are more Christians in the world than any other religious groups no thanks to the acceptance of the faith by Emperor Constantine who ruled the Roman Empire from 306 to 337 and was able to use his power to replace the Roman gods with the Christian God from where the religion spread out to its current state. Mere mention of Atheism in Nigeria raises irritation from people because they have been indoctrinated and brainwashed from birth to believe that a non believe in god is bad. I also have alot of Muslim friend mainly from Iran and trust me, they believe Christians are lost and not worshipping the true god. We can go back and forth on this and at the end, your belief is most likely the believe you inherited from your parent which tells you that religion is nothing different from culture which people try to keep to preserve their identity. What about the Bhuddist and those those practicing Hinduism? I have these guys as friends and sometime I wonder how people from different part of the world get deeply influenced by their cultural/religious upbringing. They all believe that they worship the right god, and the only reason why Christians and Muslim dominate Nairaland is because Nairaland is a Nigerian website and Christianity and Islam are the 2 dominant religion in Nigeria. The non Christian societies in the Middle East and Asia have their own definition of morility. |
401kk: Morality has always been based on religion. Where do you think morals come from? You are completely narrow minded for thinking morality is a product of religion. I wouldn't continue this argument because religion blanks the mind and prevent one from thinking outside a restricted space so no matter what I say, you will not budge, so continue to believe what you want to while allowing others to have freedom to live their life the way they want irrespective of whether it contradicts your ideology. |
Martian: that's the irony when christians claim that Jesus' teachings and the doctrines of their faith are the epitome of morality. But the thing is, the virtuos aspects of christian doctrines are not exclusive to christianity; and history, as much as we can be sure of, shows us that peaceable societies predated christianity. On the other hand, the other things christians argue to be moral are looked upon as bigotry on that part of almost everyone else that doens't belong to their faith or share their "current" prejudices.............it used to be "niggers", now the "niggers" have joined the "ofay crackas" in hating the "f@ggots"Its so narrow minded of people to confidently say that their religion is the only way to objective morality. Some of my best friends are Indians practising Hinduism and these guys don't drink, smoke, party, chase girls all in the name of their religion and deep cultural orientation. They are better than the average religiously bigot Nigerian I come across yet people will want me to believe they are immoral just because they are not Christians. I remember being taught as a Christian child that Indians worship demon bla bla bla. Being an adult that have seen different part of the world and witness how religion and culture influence the way of life of people, I feel sad at how deluded and narrow minded by country men are. |
401kk: Anybody who believes that morality is totally subjective is not sound. If morality is subjective, that also means that the holocaust and other crimes against humanity can be justified?Anyone who think morality is based on Christianity or Jesus Christ is also not sound. |
frosbel: Appears to be the case in my opinion. If I was a Muslim bashing Christianity would you be bothered? |
401kk: In some cultures/societies. YesCan you give me an example of such culture? |
SNCOQ3: ^^^Actually, their is a universal moral law called the Golden Rule - credited to Jesus Christ. Is Atheism/ Agnosticism immoral? |
SNCOQ3: @2good, if your above list are vices, why did you make that conclusion? what standard did you use? Is the standard objective or relative? If i say: 'your catalog of vices' are not immoral, they're just your opinion; would you consider me to be sensible or not?ok, I know where you are coming from which I quite agree in part. What I am trying to say, is that there is no universal definition of moral standard but common natural laws makes us to classify habits as moral and immoral but the society have generally influenced what is moral and immoral. I was irritated when I first saw women smoking cigarette in the public in Europe because as a Nigeria, it an immoral act for men to smoke let alone women, but in Europe it is very normal for women to smoke cigarette. There is no way the Nigerian factor will not affect your reasoning, you just have to define what your limits are and you might end up being labelled by Nigerians for not living your life by their rules. I get insulted by Nigerians for example for an being Agnostic to the extent that they tell me that I am trying to be white for refusing to accept their believes. |
SNCOQ3: Wrong. You're confusing morality with national legal systems. There is a difference between what is moral and what is legal. what is legal could be immoral, amoral or moral. Haven't heared of the word "immoral law" before? No morality is subjective and based on culture and religious inclination. Who defines the general standard of morality? When a Nigerian go to western countries, all they complain about are irrelevant things like how the women dress during summer, lack of respect for elders, etc. but in Nigeria, you have the following problems nobody is looking at: 1. Extreme curruption of the highest order which is the reason why poverty and suffering is rife. 2. Level of female prostitution both officially and unofficially is to the extreme because of lack of jobs. 3. The police and military personnel are Lord of the general public. 4. Street urchins popularly called area boys are part of the normal process of living in major cities and they make like unbearable for people. 5. Extortion by government officials when you deal with them e.g Police, Customs, immigration, local government offices etc. 6. Children are abused by parent in the name of training. 7. Extreme tribalism and hatred for people of other tribes. 8. Extreme discrimation in the name of religious bigotry. People refuse to live together and even marry just because Mr/Mrs A is a Christian while Mr/Mrs B is a Muslim, etc. 9. You pay estimated bill to PHCN when you dont get light for the whole month otherwise they will disconnect your wire from the electric source. 10.Pastors taking advantage of gullibility of people. 11.Women refusing to divorce their husband despite being regularly battered by her husbands because of cultural pressure against divorce. 12.Women forced to marry the brother of their late husband because of culture. 13.Girls in the villages and rural areas taken advantage of by old men and nothing is done because it is a normal cultural practice with no one to fight for them . The list goes on and on Nigeria is generally a sick country. The problem Nigerians have is using outdated religious and cultural teachings and indoctrination to define what is moral forgetting that every human being want to have some level of freedom in life(without causing harm to others at thesame time) |
mimifonwon: these jobless fools. As an American Nigerian we learn integrity, we learn that we are accountable for our acts as young as grade school when you can be sent to detention for being bad.We learn not to use religion as a crutch, we learn that nothing comes easy and that you must work hard to achieve your dreams-especially the american dream, and also you must follow all societal rules or be imprisoned- and as our african parents tell us-they will not bail you out. So in my opinion i will rather raise my kids in america with its ethics and with african mentality. See people with logs in their eyes trying to remove the tint in others.Do you have to call people jobless fool to pass your message across? |
Dambudzo: At a certain level morality is objective. They are certain moral principles which l think all societies must abide with. The problem is your are already being subjective by defining a basic standard. A Christian nation will definitely say it is wrong to be gay. A Muslim nation will say it is punishable by death to insult Allah. While a secular society will say you are free to do anything provided you don't affect other people with your actions. Where do you draw the line? Hitler thought there are some moral principle which his Nazi regime must abide with part of which is the extermination of the Jews. When people start to impose their believes on others, you will always get a disaster and revolt at some point in time. |
aneldaking: hey dnt fool ur sef d more well thak God u knw u guy r bad news because i bliv dere is no God but God d creator nt d orther way round hahahahah no God but allah just xposing ur religion d more hahahahaDid Jesus christ teach you to insult infidels? You are part of the problem with your religion. bring up concrete points and stop insulting people because you have nothing to say. |
Mr_Anony: If morality truly differs from one man to another as you say, how can we have any meaningful objective laws i.e how can there be any justice? What is the validity of any legal system?Do you know that thesame legal system you talk about varies from country to country? I'll give you some examples here: 1. In Iran it is punishable by death to say there is no God. 2. Its is also a crime punishable by death for a Muslim to convert to Christianity. 3. In the Netherlands, prostitution is legal. 4. Smoking of marijuana is also legal in the Netherlands. 5. Homosexuality is Legal in many European countries including the Netherlands while it's a punishable offence in Nigeria. 6. In the US, some states allows homosexuality while some-others don't. 7. In Saudi Arabia women are not allowed to drive a car. 8. In Saudi Arabia a woman must always cover her hair in the public whether she's a Muslim, an Arab or a Westerner. it is the law. 9. In Oman, boys and girls are not allowed to talk and socialize in the public. It is strictly against the law but that is not a problem in Nigeria. You can see that the cultural and religious believes of a people, influences their law in so many ways. So morality is subjective. |
