This is the problem with Nigeria. We have, without a modicum of shame, chosen as our representatives a bunch of age cheats. Not only do we not give a damn that our nation is represented by cheats,we revel in the fraud we are committing in Olympic football.

It simply means that men are responding to their primal urge to procreate. No matter how ugly a woman looks, their will always be some men after her.

I remember this mad woman in front of Holy Ghost Cathedral Enugu who was impregnated 3 times while she was a street urchin. Was she good looking? Hell no! Yet some men were still interested in her. grin

Even real male hyenas mate with female hyenas. It still doesn't change how the females look.

You women should get this idea out of your head that men chasing you necessarily mean you are good looking.

Given how obscenely ugly many Nigerian girls are,I thought it would be most apt to pass this SOS message from Australia to Nigerian women.

Apparently, a town in Australia is running desperately short of young women, the male to female ratio is 5:1. This has prompted the Mayor to invite ugly women to his town to relieve the scarcity of damsels. Knowing how ugly our Naija sisters are, they would be of great use to these long suffering Aussies.

Women in an Australian Outback town are rallying against their local mayor after he called for “ugly ducklings” to flock to the city to relieve its drought of women.

John Molony, the mayor of the far north Queensland mining town of Mt Isa, called for “beauty-disadvantaged” women to head to the town because its lack of young, single females meant the local men – predominantly miners and cowboys – were so desperate for female company that they weren't as fussy as they might otherwise be when it came to love.

Between her trying to make a successful career out of modeling and having a ''yahozee'' partner, which is more fraught with moral dangers?

A woman can't make a successful career out of modeling without the extremely high probability of being ''sampled'' by various men.If she was off to work on an oil rig or something, I would have said,"to hell with the boyfriend".

What I would say is that she needs to dump her boyfriend and go and establish a proper career. There isn't much 'ethical' difference between dating a fraudster and being a successful model.

Of course his strides are exceptional, that goes without saying. It's like saying that the reason Ronaldo was the highest goal scorer for Utd last season is because, during matches, he puts the ball in the net more times than any other Utd player.

The real question is why are his strides exceptional. Because the integrity of the sport has been eroded over the past few years,it might be that he has a damn good phamarcist.

But if NATO knows that Russia is willing to attack a country like Georgia over this type of dispute, it will be hesitant in giving Georgia NATO membership to prevent direct confrontation between NATO and Russia. That alone serves as a deterrent to other close by nations joining NATO. In addition, being hostile to Russia alone is not the issue - its seemingly going to the 'other side' as it were.
I don't think there were any illusions that Russia isn't willing to attack the ex-Soviet states who haven't joined NATO. However, the question of hostility towards Russia transcends NATO membership and you don't have to join NATO to become a thorn in Russia's side. Post WWII, the state that has shed the most Russian blood is not a NATO member,China.

If anything, many NATO members, such as Germany, are quite conciliatory towards Russia.
This military action will alienate Russia a bit, but will cause a rethink with regards to NATO's expansion eastwards, which is one of the aims of Russia. Yes the Russians have historic interventionist practices, but you don't see them sabre rattling with Kazakhstan or Uzbekistan, simply because those nations are not angling for a more western tilt and are happy to let things remain as they are.
While relations with Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan have been more cordial of recent, Russia has threatened those 2 on numerous occasions. Things would be more tense if the Govts of the above two were elected, they both have Muslim majority populations with an abiding hatred of Russia. Russian is caught in a situation where it can only enjoy something close to cordial relations with its neighbours provided they are dictatorships.

The fundamental question is whether a state can build alliances or more cordial relations with its neighbours by attacking or threatening them. All the evidence in human history points to the opposite direction.

The reason why many of Russia's neighbors are angling for NATO membership is precisely because of Russian actions exemplified by the Georgia debacle. The reality is that the Georgian crisis will further isolate Russia in the region and deepen animosity.

Foreign AffairsRe: Russia Invades Georgia - Guardian UK by 4Play(op): 11:36pm On Aug 13, 2008
This is an illustration of how military interventions often strengthens hostility and ultimately undermines the interventionist state:

President Victor Yushchenko raised the prospect of revoking an agreement that allows Russia to use the Crimean port until 2017 if Russian commanders defy the new restrictions. The presidential decree requires vessels blockading Georgia to ask Kiev's permission to return to the treaty port.
Reasserting control over its near neighbours is at the heart of Russia's foreign policy. It has ruthlessly cut winter energy supplies to secure compliance from Eastern Europe and used Russian-speaking minorities from the Baltics to Central Asia as leverage against states courting the West.
Mr Yushchenko joined the leaders of Poland and the Baltic states on a solidarity mission by a self-described group of "captive nations" of the USSR, to Tbilisi on Tuesday.
Even before yesterday's decree, Mr Yushchenko had faced domestic criticism for adopting positions that inevitably antagonise Moscow. Ukrainian political analyst James Hydzik said the president had put the country in Moscow's crosshairs. He said: "Protestations of neutrality from the Ukrainian government are not helped by the visit [to Tbilisi], at least from the Russian standpoint."
Russia has used a mixture of bluster and threats to resist efforts by Georgia and Ukraine to join Nato. But even states that are members of the EU are not immune from Kremlin intimidation. "In the Baltic states and Ukraine, independence is still seen as something fragile and not necessarily built to last," said Bartosz Cichocki, an expert at the Polish Institute for International Affairs. "So if it's not defended actively, it can't last."
In the aftermath of the Russian assault on Georgia, many former Soviet citizens doubt that the West can restrain Moscow. Even confidence in Nato's charter guarantee that all states will aid any member attacked from abroad has been shaken. "People are certainly afraid that Russia could attack Lithuania just like Georgia," said Lithuanian political scientist Kestutis Girnius. "And you see that kind of view among politicians," The legacy of Soviet domination still haunts Russia's relations with its former allies. "We came to fight since our old neighbour thinks that it can fight us," Polish President Lech Kaczynski said in Tbilisi. "This country thinks that old times will come back, but that time is over. Everyone knows that the next one could be Ukraine, then Poland."
Poland and the three Baltic countries yesterday raised objections to a French ceasefire plan, criticising it for not explicitly guaranteeing Georgia territorial integrity.

Foreign AffairsRe: Russia Invades Georgia - Guardian UK by 4Play(op): 11:18pm On Aug 13, 2008
The nation may be in terminal decline, but no reasonable power will want to be encircled by foes in their own backyard. I hope Saakashvili now knows that sending troops to Iraq will get you little more than harsh words from Bush. . . . people are too concerned about their own hides to stick their neck out too far for you.
The absurdity of the bolded statement should be apparent. You can't curtail the emergence of foes in your own backyard by bombing your neighbors. Does Russian bombing of Georgia make Georgia and Georgians any less likely to be hostile towards Russia?

The reason why Russia is surrounded by nations that despise it is precisely because of historic Russian interventionist policies towards these neighboring states.

An unstable country like Russia has no business indulging in delusions of grandeur. We had this same problem with the Soviet Union and look where that ended up.

As for Sakashvilli,my view is that the ultimate interest of a politician is to stay in power and short of a war resulting in regime change, nothing benefits a politician more than his country being under attack.
Foreign AffairsRe: Stop Raising Funds For Obama Jo! by 4Play(m): 6:38pm On Aug 13, 2008
Prof. Ndi Okereke-Onyiuke, Director-General of the Nigerian Stock Exchange, and Chairman, ‘Africans for Obama 2008’, yesterday, raised over N100 million at an expensive dinner for Senator Barack Obama, the US Democratic presidential candidate, at the MUSON centre, Onikan, Lagos.

Okereke explained that her group organised the dinner in which over N100 million was contributed by influential members of the group as a way of booking for a buffet table, to create awareness that, for the first time in history, an African-American is on the brink of becoming the president of the United States of America.

She explained that there are over 5 million Africans living in the US with the right to vote, and advised them to rally support for Obama at the presidential election slated for November, this year.

PM.News observed that there were 56 buffet tables, each of them, it was learnt, cost the donors N2.5 million. On each table, there were champagne, red wine, beer, and various types of drinks. The tables were for influential and rich people in the society.

At the entrance of the Shell Hall, where the dinner took place, the floor was covered by a 25-metre-long rug with the inscription YES WE CAN, Obama’s campaign slogan. There were also very large posters of Obama at the entrance and the stage. The decoration inside was splendid with the roof covered with various colours. At the dinner, a documentary by celebrity presenter, Bisi Olatilo, was aired.

But not everybody had access to the hall. It was invitation for the influential people in the country and Africa. Okereke lashed out at journalist, saying that some of them have been writing ‘rubbish and nonsense‘ about her concerning Obama campaign. “ Some sceptical people have been writing nonsense and rubbish in the newspapers that what is my business with Obama. But they are free to continue to write petitions. It is not their money that we are spending. Ask them is it your money that we are spending?”

Okereke explained that ‘Africans for Obama’ is simply telling Africans in the Diaspora to vote for Obama because he is their brother. She also said that whoever becomes the American president is also the president of the world.

Foreign AffairsRe: Georgia Vs Russia: Why The Apathy On Nairaland?! by 4Play(m): 9:12pm On Aug 12, 2008
RichyBlacK:
As usual, still employing the use of dead-end logic.

Most historians would agree that the aggression of tyrants, in the modern era, climaxed in WW II, when Hitler and the axis powers destabilized the planet. After that, the United States pushed for the creation of the United Nations to forestall major man-made and deliberate calamities. However, in time, the US became blinded by her obsession with Communism resulting in the Cold War, and lost her moral compass. US aggression in the Korean Peninsula and in Vietnam began the weakening of a laudable vision (the United Nations and similar institutions). That decline continued with the US support of Iraq to wage war with Iran due to fears of a domino effect of the Iranian Revolution against the corrupt, US-supported Shah monarchy. The US did not stop there in her bid to kill her own baby (the United Nations and all institutions in that light), they continued by supporting Israel's aggression against Palestinians and invading Iraq because of her oil reserves. All these actions have emboldened tyrants everywhere, and the US has lost the moral authority it once commanded after the fall of the axis powers.
You seem to be incapable of lucidity. How does the supposed loss of US moral authority explain why people of warped minds seem to invoke the US's 'evils' in every major atrocity on the planet?

Responding to your tour de force of irrelevance, I'm ''delighted'' to hear that the US had ''moral authority'' during the era of segregation/Jim Crow laws which they have lost recently. Presumably, the US was at its height of moral authority merely because it fought back against 2 nations-Germany and Japan-who declared war on the US.

That the world isn't menaced by the "aggression of tyrants",which presumably means the sort of imperialist land grab embarked upon by Hitler on a global scale,is not merely down to the UN but to the advent of a nuclear age with major powers adhering to the principle of MAD(Mutually Assured Destruction).

The reality is that while you mourn the modern political reality, the world is more prosperous and peaceful than at any time in human history. There are effectively 200+ states on the planet of which the US is only but one, nothing stops the rest of humanity from taking up the mantle and dealing with issues like Darfur and the DRC Congo without invoking the US
