Sagamite:Forget all the tales that come out of post-hostage situations. Even where ransom is paid, you will always hear wonderful tales about dare-devil rescue operations to save face. |
Russia was once aptly described as ''Burkina Faso with nuclear weapons''. Not too long ago,it was going cap in hand to beg the West for money. Now,with oil prices at over a $100 p/b,it has sought to reassert itself by bombing ''Mickey Mouse' nationalities like Georgians and Chechens. In the long term, unless it does something about its demographic(its non-Muslim population is shrinking at the same time that its Muslim population is increasing),it's still a nation in terminal decline. |
RichyBlacK:Your reasoning is as warped as usual. For as long as human civilisation, conflicts and ''bold-faced atrocities'' have been common place. Take the places you mentioned. Conflicts between 'Arabs' and 'Africans' in the Sudan go back centuries. Sunni/Shia/Kurd rivalry in Iraq is centuries old. Did the Palestinian conflict start recently or are atrocities there a modern day occurrence? As far back as the Katanga secession bid,the modern state of the DRC Congo has been bedeviled with endless conflicts and atrocities. For anyone to suggest that there is something contemporary about todays' atrocities smacks of historical illiteracy. The problem is that many people seem to think that history began when they started showing keen interest. Again, how the suffering of people can be explained by always invoking the US verges on the idiotic. This is where you and McKren miss the point. If the US didn't even exist, does any sane person think Russia won't be bombing its neighbors or that Arabs won't be fighting Africans in Sudan? |
McKren:See how this clueless man reasons. Whenever he is debating any international issue,he can't help but launch glib jabs at the US without much causal relevance to the issue.250,000 civilians dead in Darfur? Yes,but America is evil. Mugabe starving people in his homeland?Yes, but America is evil You have to wonder whether this standard response will arise if his village is razed by the Government. ''Yes,I understand that my relatives have been killed but America shouldn't say a word.'' Logically, how does Georgia's actions in an isolated and barren region which Russia recognises as part of Georgia actually undermine Russia? |
Ibime:Stop being a naif. This has nothing to do with self-determination and the South Ossetians are not going to come out of this whole debacle any better off in the long term. The day your clueless Ijaw militants will want to try anything in Nigeria, your ''beloved'' Russia will be at the frontline in supplying weapons and even military personnel no matter the level of atrocities committed against civilians. |
newdeal:We know that historically,Ossetians have never wanted to be part of Georgia but Ossetia is merely a distraction. Even Russia, officially regards South Ossetia as legitimately part of Georgia. The conflict is not about self-determination. There are innumerable provinces in the South of Russia, especially in the Muslim regions of Russia, that have similarly been seeking to escape from Russia but Russia has responded with nothing but brute force. |
RichyBlacK:Look at this one's rank hypocrisy. If this was Israel or the US,he would be howling with rage about territorial sovereignty. Only people who think that history started when they began watching CNN would think that US foreign policy is somewhat behind Russia's belligerence towards its neighbours. Long before the mythical demon,Bush, came into power,Russia has been attacking and slaughtering its neighbors whether in Ukraine, Belarus,Georgia,Hungary,Czechoslavakia,Tajikistan,Afghanistan;to name but a few. For people who are talking about 'self-determination',the mother of all red-herrings;this conflict has nothing to do with Russia's regard for that concept. What did Russia do when Chechens wanted a free state? |
Mukina, can you please delete these Arsenal rodents form our sacred thread. Spurs are destined for greater things this season but I can't see them upstaging Arsenal yet, perhaps in 2 to 3 years. Can someone please remove Adebayor's cock from Kit's mouth? This guy's obssesion with Ade is frankly disturbing Fergie has promised to sign a striker before the start of the season.I will prefer either Benzema or Hunterlaar,no need for Berbatov who is grumpy and ageing. |
RichyBlacK:Why won't you "hiss"? If it was the US launching "peacekeeping" operations in a neighboring country, you will be steaming with rage. |
Georgia and Russia were today on the brink of full-scale war after Russian tanks rolled across the border to back separatists in the breakaway South Ossetia region.http://www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/aug/08/georgia.russia2 |
Men of the Nigerian Army yesterday invaded Agge Community in Ekere-mor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State and razed the entire town in rage over the seizure on Sunday of a military gunboat and killing of two soldiers by militants along the Forcados River in Bomadi Area of the state.http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=118828 |
davidylan:If your interpretation of the passage cited in this thread is how you arrive at your "proof" of Catholicism's position, it is hardly surprising. Given that the church makes similar "ecumenical" comments about Hinduism,Buddhism, Judaism,e.t.c, one won't be surprised to see a thread titled "Catholic Church knows that Hindus are paradise bound". A very quick glance at the Catholic doctrine on salvation will dispel such guff. |
I know the English language is not our native language but only a poor grasp of grammar coupled with willful mischief will lead anyone to conclude that the Catholic Church's position is that Muslims are ''paradise bound''. |
White people are susceptible to sub-Saharan Africa's pathogens . I recall what happened to US Marines who landed in Liberia CBS/AP) The number of malaria cases among U.S. Marines serving in Liberia rose again Thursday, with 51 showing symptoms of the illness, defense officials said.http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2003/09/08/health/main572116.shtml |
lucabrasi: ![]() This must be one of the most hilarious posts I have read on Nairaland. The irresistible sight of a shameless ignoramus making a fool of himself. |
In any civilized country, a picture of a pre-teen child of the head of state posing with automatic rifles and wads of cash will prompt a media frenzy. |
@HNIC Why are you blabbering about like a girlish slowpoke? This thread must be sanitized of vermins and half-wits like you Only Gaynners like Loyika, Debosky and the Alausa epicene(Kit) have special permits to post here. Even they have posting quotas to limit the inevitable Gaynner tendency to produce drivel. I don't even know where to start with a retard like you. Is your problem congenital or what? |
debosky:Now that you have started the 'Fergie v AW nonsense' ,lets set the record straight. Fergie joined Utd in Nov 1986. Wenger joined Arsenal in Sept 1996. By the 95/96 season(on his way to his 3rd league title), United's key players were the likes of Beckham,Scholes, Giggs, P.Neville, G.Neville, Nicky Butt,(all youth products) . What were Arsenal's youths achieving at the equivalent period(2005/2006 season)? Within a similar time frame compared to Arsenal, Fergie's youths had won 2 league titles, including a domestic double, and were well on their way to a treble. What have Arsenal's youths won? All Wenger's league titles were won with a relatively experienced starting 11- Remember Pires,Viera, Campbell,Keown, Seaman,e.t.c - that won the 03/04. The problem with Wenger's youth policy is that you haven't actually won anything so there is no basis for comparison with United. |
@Kit Are you denying that you are an official butt licker? Anyway, even the ashawos that hang around politicians will defend what they do with pride. Come, you still dey chase those little girls about? Old menstruating tit,go and spread eagle for Fashola to stick it up yours, you know that is what you do for a living. ![]() |
Juju is a refuge for retards. |
@Kit You know you are a confirmed cretin yourself. If you were particularly bright, you won't be at Alausa engaged in the ancient and noble art of butt licking Naija politicians. @presido1 £8.5m? Sunderland are worse mugs than I ever imagined. I can't believe anyone will pay £8.5m for a corpse. |
@Kit One Gaynner cretin at a time. Gone are the days when I had time for MC Obo or Menstrual Kit. This particular Gaynner vermin has caught my attention with his dumb attempts at sarcasm. I won't let up till the evil spirit disturbing him is cast out. |
@Kit You came here to give your underling some moral support, abi? Why is that tit such a vermin? Try and discipline your ward. |
Dr Kitaun's strange love affair with Adebayor continues. |
The only positive aspect of this hysterical Sinophobia is that it spares us of hysterical anti-Americanism. |
Abeg, why is this guy called HNIC such an uber-slowpoke? The sad thing is that this cretin thinks he is funny. If he didn't indicate his gender,I would have assumed it's a woman. |
Complete with fake crotch! |
Proof that men are funny! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JDh_TsHKfJU |
Are these private universities any worse than some of the Govt universities in the far north? @Viante You sef,you are a poster child for private universities. ![]() |
@KarmaMod You are an exception ![]() |
lucabrasi:With all due respect, your reasoning is appalling. An illegal contract does not create an obligation. Such an agreement which purports to deprive one of his fundamental human rights is null and void. Also,it is one thing to want to crackdown on sexual immorality,it is quite another to seek to attain this goal through absurd measures such as expelling HIV+ and pregnant students. I raised a series of questions which you obviously don't have an answer to. And what in the name of whatever deity you worship are you talking about when referring to teenage Americans wearing silver rings to signify their virginity? Does anyone compel them to wear them? |
I think the important question is why the heck are women not funny? Of all the really funny comedians, how many of them are female? There is no more agonising sight in a social context than a woman trying to tell a joke.where is the emoticon for throwing up? Women can bore you to death with their conversation(this doesn't obviously include any woman who I chat with off NL) I think the most stupid thing is how easy it is to get them to laugh. The dumbest jokes are enough to launch them into a fit of giggles. |
