If you can afford health insurance in the US,you can afford it in the UK.I prefer BUPA here to the NHS.However,the fact still remains that unlike the US(where a whopping 40m don't have coverage)you are still entitled to free healthcare just in case you can't afford or don't want private coverage.

When Obama is prancing around talking about universal health coverage,look at the applause he gets.No need pretending that Americans are satisfied with their health care situation.Some even have to go to Canada.

You mentioned the atomic bomb.The US only embarked on producing an atomic bomb upon joining the war,had they not joined,Germany was ahead in the race to produce an atomic bomb.If the US and the Soviets never joined the war,Germany would have been the sole nuclear power.

Maybe mushroom clouds in California and New York would have made the point clearer to the Americans that Germany posed a threat to everybody.

As for Liberia,if non-colonised entities like Liberia and Ethiopia are as wretched as they are today,how is the state of Africa today the fault of Britain?

Is there anything like indigene? Indigenes in the US are native Americans while most of the original indigenes in the British Isles are now a minority.Everybody is essentially a migrant except some came earlier than others.

The US primarily won what?The Soviet Union alone was responsible for over 80% of Germany's military casualties.The UK and the US were responsible for roughly 15% of the rest ,with the UK having a fairly higher responsibility for the German war dead than the US.

Without the UK holding back the Germans and the Japs virtually alone for 2 years,the US would have had to face the wrath of the Axis powers alone.At worst they will be defeated,at best they would have been isolated like North Korea.

As for Britain's contribution to Africa,check out other countries.Liberia is officially the poorest country in West Africa,I wonder who colonised it.Are the French and Portguese colonies any better? What about Ethiopia which was not colonised?

But the 2nd World War had a lot to do with Americans,Americans were just too slow witted to realise until they were bombed.Had they intervened earlier,the war would have been more easily won with far less human costs.They are still paying for elements of the war-check out the impasse with North Korea or the Cold war with the Soviets .

Inaction can just be as costly,even costlier,as action.

As a matter of principle,women shouldn't tolerate infidelity.However,from a pragmatic perspective,its always very likely that the next male partner will be a cheat and the next after that,e.t.c.

That's not condoning cheating by any stretch of the imagination but simply acknowledging reality.

I always say the woman should leave her cheating partner not because it guarantees her the fidelity of a future partner-most likely,it won't-but as a matter of principle

Instinctively,when I read this kind of tale,my initial reaction is to say,"dump him".However,infidelity is epidemical amongst men,especially African men.

Probably every single one of the female respondents to this thread has a male partner who is either currently cheating,has cheated or will cheat on her.Short of becoming lesbians,most women will either have to cope with cheating male partners,stay asexual or join the "cheating game".

That is one of the biggest dilemmas in relationships. . . . . .how women can strike a balance between not tolerating infidelity and maintaining a long term relationship.

We blacks have the least population among the races but the whites would have us feel we are overpopulated so we should reduce our population. But if you look at the statistics the number of blacks on the earth surface is less than 600 million, about half the population of india but the white man is not talking about reducing asian population. when small europe became overpopulated, the colonized other continents so today the whites occupy almost every continent in the world with their total population runining into at least 1.5billion. The question of overpopulation is relative.Hong Kong might be said to be overpopulated with a population of 7m while Australia,with a population of 21m,doesn't suffer the same fate.

Africa is "overpopulated" relative to its resources,mainly economic.If you look at the staggering infant mortality stats,there is hardly a case to be made that we are underpopulated.
