Health › Re: Nma Strike: The Patients's Perspective by 5minsmadness: 8:32am On Jul 15, 2014
Whether you guys like it or not, the doctor is the gateway into the hospital. The doctor is the one that attends to the patients first and comes up with a diagnosis. The doctor is the one who deciphers which lab investigation will be done for the patient among the hundreds of lab investigations out there( not only malaria and typhoid). The doctor is the one who knows the proper nursing care for the patient and directs the nurses whose work it is to carry out that nursing care to do so. The doctor is the one that knows the right type of drug that will be suitable for the patient, the pharmacist can now dispense the drug or advice the doctor on drug interactions which by the way most of the consultant doctors already know. The doctor is the one who follows the patient throughout until the patient recovers and the doctor is the one who discharges the patient.

What is happened in our country is primarily controlled by greed and petty jealousy no matter how nicely the other specialties want to paint it. If you want to be a consultant then expand your curriculum. If you want to be a medical director then be a medical doctor.

Me, I won't go to pharmacist or nurse if I have an emergency medical problem o, I dont know about you guys. Its the doctor I will trust for my health at the end of the day. This unnecessary and illogical power tussle must stop.

A patient's perspective.

nubian22: i need advice from married people in the house, i and my guy are planning our traditional wedding next month but before i agreed to marry him, he made a promise that no lady will enter his apartment again that is from the day i agreed to marry him and our preparation is in progress.
grin angry
Which kain yeye promise be dat? Is he entering prison cos he's marrying you? Nonsense, instead of you to give him free hand so you will at least see what your competition looks like, now he might be hiding behind your back to receive girls! Women sef.

i was with him yesterday being Sunday in the house when the first lady called and i heard through the phone when she asked him to come and follow her to her sister's place at Lekki, he told her that he can't go with her and ended the call without letting the lady say any thing more maybe because i was around.
He was showing you respect here. Apparently you matter more to him hence his rude behaviour towards his 'friend'/customer.

when i asked him, he said that the lady is his customer, that he was just being nice to the lady and she misunderstood his being nice, well i allowed that one to pass. the next person that called was his ex - girlfriend and this girl is the person that he said left him for another guy but since we started preparing from our wedding she has been calling and sending different kind of text to him,
Now that he is no longer available to her he has become more desirable. It happens a lot grin. Trust me.

she said that she wanted to come and visit him and he told her not to come but she still came with one of her friend. we were inside the house when they came and he went to met them outside and they were like he should invite them inside and give them something to eat and so he invited them in
How many guys can honestly say they have not had this experience when the ex is trying to gatecrash your house angry grin. Even when you say no and they know the new girl is there they wanna come in and prove a point. And the friend she invited was for support. Op come on na,is this your first relationship? You know the drill!

and i had to leave the house from the back door and went to one of the neighbor's flat, there was no fuel in the house, he had to send somebody to get fuel for him because there was no light, he was trying to make them very comfortable knowing that i was not happy with their coming. now everybody including him is saying that i should have stood my ground because am the woman of the house that i shouldn't have left the house because i was in the other flat until they left, the lady i went to her house saw that i was not happy and when she asked me what it was i have already started crying,
shocked shocked shocked
OP this is where I get serious angry
You sure say you ready to marry so? angry
How can you leave the house for those witches to be alone with your husband? How do you know he wasn't inviting them in with the mind you'll be there to serve as a deterrent for next time? No no no no no, you do not leave the house for nobody, if anybody is to leave that house it will be those uninvited guests! angry
Op don't mind these girls who have filled their heads with telemundo and phillipino films of romance, life is a struggle oh! I didn't say you should fight but you should at least have displayed your dominance as the owner of the man at that moment! Welcome them politely, serve them juice then jejely sit on his lap throughout their visit! Laugh at their jokes and make some private ones of your own with your man, jokes only two of you will understand so the two visitors will feel left out. Kiss him once or twice! And wish them safe journey sweetly when then leave in frustration, that's what you should have done.

i was so heart broken and she was like all men are the same, she was telling me about her own husband who bought a lady to the compound inside one other guy's flat and one pastor that lives in the compound that slept with the wife's sister.
so when the girls left, he went to see them off and when he came back he was begging me but i was very angry and since yesterday that i left the house i have not spoken to him and he has not call because my phones are off. right now i don't know what to do because am like would he had done the same thing if he has already married me. pls i need advice from experienced people before talking to him, i don't want to talk to my family and friends about it, pls i need help before i make mistake of a life time.
How will he do the same thing if he is married to you? Will you allow his exes into your matrimonial home?? Stay there and be heartbroken, his ex will soon come and blend the broken pieces and give you to drink.
Yeye, now that you have crossed the hard part of making him leave all his girls for you, even going so far as to do HIV test for you, its now you want to give up. Dey there dey listen to Nairaland baby girls advice instead of taking your life in your hands and being with the man you love!

But what do I know sha. My head no dey correct sometimes grin If you don't love him walk away. The perfect man may just be out there waiting for you grin

diegs: Yes I love my hubby. I have been his friend for a long time even when he was dating the AS lady. We grew closer after he told me they went for compatibility test as a marriage pre-requisite and they can't marry. We became really close and after two months we started dating and after 6 months of dating he proposed
So you 'married your best friend'.

Be patient with him. It can really be frustrating for a man thinking thinking he has lost out on the love of his life. Prove him wrong. Show him he hasn't lost out on the love of his life. Show him that you are right there.

It will be difficult. But if you love him it is very possible. Follow the bolded advice I previously quoted. It worked for a friend of mine. It will work for you.

egopersonified: Op, I really sympatize with you, its heartbreaking when u love someone more than he loves you. Pls, dont look at this marriage as doomed becos yr parents were against it, let that motivate u to make it work to prove them wrong. Be the best wife u can be, pray and learn about your God. Try to do things he enjoys doing with him, stop complaining to him, rather complain to God and learn to hear from the holy spirit for direction. He chose u becos of yr genotype and is frustrated he cant change it, but let him see u married him becos u love him. Since yr competition is sending messages, u too send messages, dress neatly/sexy when he is around, if he doesnt compliment yr cooking, ask him how d food was or ask if u shd prepare anything special for him, treat him d way u would want him to treat u even when u feel he doesnt deserve it. After sex u can tell him about his r/ship with his ex, calmly explain how u feel. Just forget pride and do more than he deserves, if u feel he is not worth it, then divorce is an option.
Couldn't have said it better.

No mystery here.

Op your husband does not love you. Probably never did.
You knew this so its not like you are a victim. You knew he had an AS woman that he loves but he couldn't marry but you went ahead to be his wife. Why? What was your reason?

If you truly love him you are going to have to wait until he gets used to you. Right now he is rebelling against the idea of having you as his wife instead of the AS lady. Hence his impatience and shouting, etc. But it will get better with time if you can be patient. Someone here said in time the love between them will die. Fortunately for you, that's true. He'll calm down after your first and second baby. You just have to be patient.

This story is incomplete though.
Do you actually love him?
How do you know about his past relationship with the AS girl? Did he tell you or did you find out?
Who introduced you to him? His people or your people or was it a chance meeting?

Pls in the name of all things good and true, nobody should quote efemena's last post, biko! undecided. Just type her name and address her abeg.

My Opinion:

1. The baby has a right to be breas.tfed anywhere and at anytime. Baby first.

2. The woman however should not expose her mammary glands in all its glory for the world to see just because she is bre.a.stfeeding her baby. There is such a thing called decency. It would have cost little or no effort to cover her breast with a handkerchief or the baby's bib. Inasmuch as she is taking care of her baby she should not be so selfish as to disregard the feelings of others around her. Once again decency and responsibility are the keywords here.

3. Op after you saw the first n.IP.ple ...you should have looked away to avoid further discomfort to your person.

Personally, I don't like seeing women expose too much of their breast in public in the name of breastfeeding. Its okay to let the nii.ple and areola show, that should be enough to do the work. Even if you have to expose the main breast(so to speak) surely it won't cost you anything to cover up with a hankie. I respect women that exclusively breastfeed their baby's and will vote for them any day over our 'artificial mothers' but they shouldn't carry things overboard in the process.

krall: I got invited for dedication in a certain (name withheld) church. I sat beside a young light lady who was carrying a baby. During service next thing I know she open her blouse and bring out one breast. The baby was crying and refused to suck. She left that one dangling and exposed and brought out the other one. Mind you I was seeing it out of the corner of my eye. After breastfeeding the child, she proceeded to give him Liquid cereal food before finally cleaning the tip with wipes and finally packaging both packages.

Is that how breastfeeding is done in public? Because I realized after the whole ordeal that no one was concerned or bothered about the unnecessary display.
She bring out one breast...you dey look.
She bring out the other breast... You still dey look.
She wipe her nipples...you STILL dey look!

I gave a girl a rose once. It was her birthday and I wanted to profess my love. It was an even more difficulttask since iI had the rose flower ordered from the UK and then preserved it for a year, just so I could present it at that perfect moment.

She took the rose from my hands, stared at it, then burst into laughter. All her friends at the party followed suit. When she saw the hurt look in my eyes she stopped laughing, held the rose to her heart and said thanks, then put it on the table. She then went on to open her other gifts, clothes, wristwatches, etc.
The next day when I came to visit her the rose was nowhere to be seen. Her roommate told me she had thrown it out with the morning trash.

That was the first and last time I gave a lady anything remotely resembling a flower.

Yes, thanks. The heresy of 'once saved'.
Christianity Etc › Re: Catholics: Come In Let's Discuss. by 5minsmadness: 8:14pm On Jul 12, 2014
@pr0ton: these are some of the scriptures that refute the erring belief of 'once saved:

Heb. 6:4-6 –”It is impossible for those who have… shared in the Holy Spirit… if they fall away, to be brought back to repentance…”  One can’t share in the Holy Spirit, if one doesn’t have Him.  This speaks of those who have Him, then fall away.

**2 Peter 3:17 –”Be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of lawless men and fall from your secure position.”  It’s secure only as one remains in Christ –obedient to the truth, shunning error and lawlessness (sin).

**1 Tim. 4:16 –”Watch your life and doctrine closely.  Persevere in them, because IF you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.”  If you don’t, you will not save yourself and your hearers.

Now let’s look at some verses concerning sin in the life of a believer:  (I do not necessarily equate the word “believer” with a person who “overcomes and thus inherits eternal life”; because remember, “even the demons believe…”)

*2 Tim. 2:19 –”Everyone who confesses the name of the Lord must turn away from wickedness.”  Is not all sin wickedness?  And the context speaks of those whose ungodly teachings are causing them to “wander away from the truth.”  (v. 18)

*Titus 1:16 –”They claim to know God, but by their actions they deny him.”  Here it is actions, not the claiming of belief, that matters.

*Rev. 3:16 –”Because you are lukewarm –neither hot nor cold– [this whole context implies there is already belief] I am about to spit you out of My mouth.”  “Spit out” does not equal eternal life.

*1 Peter 3:12 –”The Lord is against those who do evil.”  Actions again.

*John 14:15 –”If you love Me, you will obey what I command.”  What Jesus says here does not support the attitude, “I have faith (loyalty to Christ) but gotta keep disobeying Him daily cuz I can’t help it.”

*1 John 2:4 –”The man who says, ‘I know Him,’ but does not do what He commands is a liar, and the truth [Jesus] is not in him.”

Pr0ton: 5minsmadness ..
Your answers aint helping to convince my points.
That's because you are not interested in being convinced. Not really. You are just trying to battle out your points.

I also realize some erroneous points about your view of sin..
I believe that once a person become a believer(during his first confession) he not only receives the forgiveness of sin, he also receieves the righteousness of Jesus..
Its this righteousness that makes the person worthy before God and acceptable to Him.
This righteousness is a gift Rom5:17-19 and it is received by faith alone Rom4:5.

When a person becomes a believer the sacrifice of Jesus perfects him and make him holy once for all Heb10:10,14 i.e he's holy forever..

When a person becomes a believer he no longer sins because its no longer his works that's being manifested before God but the righteousness of Jesus.

A believer is no longer a slave to sin Rom6:14 because Christ has end the source of sin Rom10:4 which is the Law 1Cor15:56 And "where there is no law there is no sin." Rom4:15

Therefore its not necessary 4 a believer 2 keep asking 4 d 4giveness of sins Bcoz. of ROM 8:1
Your belief is wrong.

If your belief was right then all those who say "Lord, Lord,..." will enter into the kingdom of God.

The person who hears the word of God, follows it, and then turns around won't have to worry about receiving a worse judgment.

The christian that became born again yesterday now has freedom to fornicate and adulterate and commit all sorts of atrocities because after all, it is the righteousness of Jesus that lives in him, etc etc. No wonder we have so many Christians and churches in Nigeria and yet their impact cannot be felt. They still collect bribes and steal and cheat etc after all, they have the righteousness of Jesus. I weep for them on the last day.

This your belief in 'once forgiven' is actually an erroneous teaching that rose up years ago and was rebuked before it reared its ugly head again in the late 19th century. It has a name but I cannot remember it now. Perhaps francistony or some other bible scholar can give us the name. Its a false teaching.

Pr0ton: In case your about to requote James 5:16.. That verse only says we should admit/confess our faults/sins to another.. Yeah, but it doesnt say we should make them how mediator.. The second part says we should pray for one another.. Yeah, but it doesnt say that they may be forgiven. Rather, that they maybe healed..

Isnt it that easy to go on my knees and confess my sins to Jesus by faith for me to be forgiven?
I'm sure its easier to do this but unfortunately that's not what Christ said:

John 20:23- Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them,
and whose sins you retain are retained
.
Christ wouldn't have said this if he wanted the new convert or anybody for that matter to just go on his knees and ask for forgiveness by faith. That's new age thinking. And as far as I know it hasn't worked. People sin more easily now because they have no one to report to. You can commit fornication today and just go on your knees in faith and in secret and ask Jesus for forgiveness...then do the same again tomorrow. Its more difficult to do so if you know you are going to face the same priest again after you were counselled not to sin again.
Its like having a support person like in alcoholics anonymous. They found you kick the habit easier if you have someone to discuss your failed attempts with instead of trying to break the habit alone.

You putting your trust in any other thing/person(absolution/priest) is moving away from God because going straight to Jesus only is the only way to God.
Everyday I turn on the TV and see multitudes of non-catholics putting their trust in their pastors, kneeling for their pastors to pray for them, deliver them, break the chains of poverty. It has gone so far that they now label God- God of tb Joshua, God of oyedepo etc. In fact the interesting thing is most of them are no even interested in asking for their sins to be forgiven, its breakthrough from poverty to wealth they are looking for. Is that what Christ preached?

I guess their putting their trust on thier pastors will move them away from God too, just like you said.

Again, you nulify Christ's position by your tradition and your twisting the Bible.
Funny statement. You have forgotten that it was the catholic church that released the Bible to the masses with a universal interpretation before the new age churches started interpreting it the way they wanted. Now every church has its own interpretation. Who is doing the twisting?

Christianity Etc › Re: Catholics: Come In Let's Discuss. by 5minsmadness: 11:37am On Jul 12, 2014
Pr0ton: That still doesnt mean we must confess to mere human beings and receive forgiveness..

The greek word used for confess there also means "to admit" We admit/confess our fault to one another.. We pray for one another to get healed.. All these are the right relationship and fellowship that ought to be among believers..

It was in d OT that people have to see the priest(high) who would thn go to the second tabernacle to offer sacrifice for himself, and for the errors of the people

But when the veil of the temple rent, we all have the boldness to enter into the holiest by His blood.
The priest doesn't forgive. God forgives. The priest offers absolution.

For second bolded...it ought to be but it isn't.
The bible clearly states to confess your sins to one another and this was mentioned in the new testament not the old one. I believe the advice of the bible here is what we should follow as Christians.
Also it would be more practical to confess your sins to someone who is disposed to listen to you and offer sound advice without broadcasting your sins over the family dinner table. Hence the priest.

urheme: "Holy communion class" is this Biblical?

We now go to classes to obtain certification for the bread that was initially shared from house to house!!

So what is the entrance exam like? or do you also obtain form for that?
Holy communion classes are classes in which catholics learn more about the body and blood of Christ, its significance and importance in our christian faith. There are classes for every sacrament of the church, whether baptism or marriage etc.
It is not unlike the classes pentecostals have when welcoming new converts to their church. The same wayother churches have beginners classes and pastoral classes.

And no, they don't obtain certificates of any kind. Except the marriage certificate.

I'm sure even in your church you are taught about certain things in certain classes as well, not everything is done in the general congregation, right? Well its the same principle.

James 5:16, Therefore confess your sins to one another and pray for one another that you may be healed.

Combine that with Francis Tony's previous quotes.

Of course back then it was better to confess your sins to a priest as they were and still are sworn to secrecy and will not broadcast your sins to anyone else no matter the situation. Hence confidentiality was maintained.
