Lol @ living on past glory. Their "past glory" is going to take us more than a century to catch up with. We can't even provide ourselves with 24 hours electric power supply.

By claiming we are moral do you mean by being a country that can only produce corrupt leaders, or a country that sees nothing wrong with lynching "suspects" without a fair trial because we lack faith in our judicial system or a country where the youths are busy stealing IMEI just to browse for free?

Developed countries are by no means less moral than us, they only give everyone the right to live as they choose without fear of discrimination meanwhile Yorubas, Ibos and Hausas can barely live together.

Can you honestly point to one "moral" trait of an average Nigerian? undecided
More than a century is right. We are in the stone ages compared with these folks and I doubt we'll ever really catch up!

Of all the ills you mentioned above name one that isn't committed by the white man.

You misunderstand me. I meant that since it's oyibo, it's not surprising. They capable of very weird things.

What still beats my imagination is that despite the fact that we claim to be "holier" and with "better morals" their country is still better developed than ours
Simply shows that "morality" and "development" don't always go together.
And besides they only lost their morality very recently. Following the sexual revolution as a matter of fact. They are living on past glory.

So she stayed in his house for awhile before going to a hotel? And still the wife wife was not informed that another woman was in her house?

This is not the kind of thing you do without thinking of your spouse even when you have no ulterior motives. First off if my wife is away I will not allow another woman (excepting close family) to stay overnight. Secondly if I am going to receive guests my wife will be informed especially when I will be financially responsible for their stay. Lastly, as much as I want to be a gentleman only an emergency will make me consider being financially responsible for an ex's accommodation. I can drive her to the hotel after picking her up or even take her around town if free however my wife will be duly informed.
Congratulations. Well said. You're a model husband.
Now this guy has done this, should he tell his wife about it or not?

She dropped in unannounced?? How did she Knw the Wifey had traveled/ is not around??

Abeg tell us another lie
If u had followed the story at all instead of going into a paranoid fit you'd realise that she didn't know whether the wife was around or not. She didn't plan to come when the wife was absent it just happened and it's possible she decided to take advantage of it. She came unannounced. The wife was not at home. He entertained her. When it seemed she wanted to stay over he sent her off to a hotel instead of her spending the night. She may indeed have had ulterior motives. He didn't.
Now he's wondering whether to let the wife know what happened or forget about the whole thing.

Why is he paying for her stay? What obligation does he have towards her? If he genuinely want to be of help why didn't he tell his wife from the get go?
Like I said, it was kind of an impromptu visit (she called him out of the blue that she was on her way) It was when she started staying long he suggested a hotel. Of course he will pay na, abi are you not a gentleman, would you let her pay?

To be honest, I wouldnt want to know. I guess I'd start imagining a lot of things. If I found out I would be pained and wished she had told me instead of me finding out however I did grin But at the end of the day I'd have to take her word for it that nothing happened.

Of course the wife should know and they can go visit the so called ex together since the man can't do without seeing her undecided undecided....

Really, what's the visit all about? The ex came solely to see him and he even lodged her in a hotel? Some men eehhh...... Would have been a different thing if the ex came to town for some other business and decided to check up on old friends. ...
Wonder what level their discussion has reached for the man to invite and lodge her in a hotel...... undecided
Don't do stuffs you wouldn't love your wife doing. ...

He had better tell the wife before she finds out herself. They can all go out together. ...
You men eehh undecided huh
On behalf of all men, sorry ma grin

the man didnt invite her. she came impromptu and stayed late and the man decided to lodge her. Perhaps he would have told her to start going when it was getting late. Perhaps her should have stopped her at the door outright. Perhaps...but these things happen. Nobody is 100%perfect all the time.

Ofcourse I'll want to know, but why is he feeling guilty? Could it be he still has a thing for the ex? I would love to think the best thing to do in such an instance, is call wifey the moment the visitor is around and let her know his plans.huh

Anyways, the deed is do, he should just tell his wife and deal with the small interrogation/drama that may follow.grin
Hehehehehe grin

Not sure thats a good idea o.
I think from the explanation the whole thing was an impromptu visit. Its even possible the ex had "ideas" but the guy couldnt forcefully get rid of her. He didnt invite her, she dropped in unannounced. The hotel thing was suggested by him to prevent her from sleeping over in his house. I guess he didnt want to tell wifey immediately so she doesnt start rushing down from wherever she is or worrying or whatever.

I still maintain its cache information. trash to be disposed of without raising brouhaha. I could be wrong.(Or i could be right.)

God says "flee from every appearance of evil.. But u r inviting a situation that would cause evil. if u give the devil a yard, he will take ten.. How would u feel if ur wife invites an ex and lodge him into a hotel?? That's how u guys create problems for ur homes , later, the excuse will be " I didn't mean it to happen, its not what u think, its d devil's handwork, etc etc

Ur precaution for something not to happen again BTW u and ur ex should be staying away from her and facing ur marriage, family and work, NOT inviting her to town and lodging her outside ur home ... In fact , the fact that she is outside ur home, hiding in one hotel were evil easily happen, will enhance the evil to happen whether its in ur mind or not! And that is if the evil has not yet happened sef ... Be wise! Do unto others, what u would have them do to u
Maybe it's me, maybe it isn't wink
The thing is we've advised the guy that what he did was wrong and he gets that. The issue now is whether he should go ahead and mention it to his wife cos he doesn't keep things from her. Frankly I told him it's unnecessary but others feel strongly otherwise. What do you as a lady think?
Family › Re: Ladies Would You Want To Know About This? by 5minsmadness(op): 9:44am On Sep 07, 2015

Keeping secrets is very bad in a marriage especially when it involves an ex. It was stupid of him to even invite the ex close to him. He had better delete her number and ask her NEVER to contact him again. An ex should be treated as exactly what they are, a part of the past that should be forgotten and never revisited.

Of course his wife would want to know but it might raise unnecessary suspicion in the wife. The fact that he keeps in touch with the ex is his first problem. He should tell the ex to fvck off!
Good point. Thanks.
The issue I think has to do with exes whom you had a cordial breakup with. How do you tell an ex who is also a friend to fvck off? Thier breakup ended in a friendly way and they've been pals ever since.

A friend of mine is having a guilty conscience. His ex came to visit him over the weekend from another state when his wife was not at home. Even though he took precautions to prevent any untoward advances by lodging her in a hotel away from his home, he is still wondering wether he should let his wife know that she came.

Ladies would you want him to tell you or is it unnecessary information?

Family › Re: DEBATE: Mother And Father Who Is More Important In The Family And Why ? by 5minsmadness: 2:34pm On Sep 06, 2015
A family unit is not complete until you have these three components.

A man
His wife
Children.

Taking this into consideration, the person with the most influence is the wife. The wife is the one who influences the behaviour of both the husband and the children. Her behaviour will determine the man's role as the man of the house whether she will be submissive enough to give him leeway to be the head of the home or whether she will attack and second guess him at every turn leaving him full of doubt, worries and resentment. For deep down no man truly wants to be led by a woman.

The woman also has a great influence on her kids. She is the one who will be most close to them and essentially raise them up when daddy is out at work. Of course daddy will chip in once in a while but the main upbringing and behavior of the children will depend on thier mother. The mother it is who can easily turn the children against the father. The mother it is who will hear of every little knee scrape, be there during bedridden malaria, will find out who bullies the kids at school and what thier favourite toys are.
The mother is the main sculptor of the kids during thier childhood years and she can be be blessing or the undoing of those kids.

So the mother is the one with the most influence.

So what about your ex, the one u were always talking about?

What about her?

Well aren't u going to invite her?

Erm, I don't know, I was thinking I would, that's if you don't mind....

Lol, of course I don't mind! Let her come, it will be an opportunity to see this your first love av heard so much about. Not that she was so perfect else u would have married her abi?

(uncomfortable) it's no biggie, she doesn't need to come...

Nonsense. I INSIST. Make sure u send her an invite. Let her come, let it not be like it's me preventing you two from seeing each other one last time....

(more uncomfortable) em, I really don't think it's necessary to invite her....

Look, there's no problem. Make sure u send her an invite. Deliver it personally even. I insist!

Caveat: The above short discussion is a work of fiction. Any semblance to real occurrences is purely coincidental.

Family › Judge Me, Was I Wrong? by 5minsmadness(op):
I was on my way to Lagos yesterday when I started recieiving facebook alert messages from a long lost friend, lets call him Mark. Now, I and Mark havent communicated in over 12yrs, I'm not even sure when i added him on facebook cos I've been adding a lot of peeps recently. So when I saw his facebook alert I was naturally excited and we immediately started chatting

"Guuuuuuuy! longes time, how far na?
"Fine oh Pabs, e don tay, how things?"
"I dey oh, am on my way to lagos now and network is fluctuating"
"Ok send me your number so I can call make we chat small"

So i sent him my number. he asked where i was, I told him i was in lagos and he told me he was far up north. He kept callin me "Sir", "Oga" etc and i was like "this formality too much, we be padi na"
Next thing he was like he's been going through a rough patch, his wife just delivered another child which was unplanned and things were really rough since he's been in the country.

Then he asked if he could borrow N10k.

I was like ok...he was like n10k isnt much, what is n10k , just n10k so he can give his wife to cater for the baby. I felt a little uncomfortable but I later thought well, its to help a friend in a dire situation and whats n10k that i cant spare anyway. So i said ok I'll send it to him. he said thanks and then cut. A few minutes later I recieved a text message from a number telling me to pay the n10k into a strange account. it was a yoruba name account(am not a tribalist o, just trying to explain things) and this my guy is supposed to be core Urhobo. Also the place he stated he was supposedly in was in the "deep" north (its not as if yorubas are not in the north sha). Also i was like, why send me this odd number, why not send me his own account number or his wifes so I can pay it in? He replied that he had to travel urgently and that person would be the one to send the money to his wife.

All my alarm bells went off instantly

This is someone i havent seen in more than a decade, I'm not sure if he was even the one who really called, also we didnt chat so much for me to ascertain if he knew certain personal stuff or not (I wasnt suspicious at the time).

So I decided to ignore. Coincidentally I got to lag late when the bank had closed and was also extremely busy the next day so much so that I didnt even eat until 3pm. The guy kept calling my line until a colleague answered it and when questioned he dropped instantly, only to resume calling a few minutes later. He later desisted around 4pm.

I've been feeling guilty since, I must confess. Was i being paranoid? Did i do the right thing? But after ten years didnt my friend have a closer person or family member to call for assistance? Was I right or wrong in my decision?
