Really impressive. Quiet achiever she must be!

jimfarayola:
Ijeoma Nwaogwugwu, the Managing Director of Arise TV, has resigned.

Nwaogwugwu, an influential journalist, it was gathered, resigned on Wednesday over some undisclosed issues.

Sources who confirmed her resignation on Thursday did not disclose the reason for her decision.

This is as attempts to speak with her were unsuccessful.

Nwaogwugwu edited all the titles of Thisday Newspapers. She was the Group Business Editor from where she rose to become the Saturday Editor, Sunday Editor and ultimately the Daily Editor.

In all, she was Editor for 11 years.

Ijeoma left Thisday as Daily Editor to become the Managing Director of Arise TV in 2018.

Arise TV and Thisday are owned by Nduka Obaigbena.

Under Ijeoma’s headship, Arise TV came into prominence.

Ijeoma, a graduate of Accounting from the University of Lagos, was listed as one of the Top 25 Most Powerful Women In Nigerian Media in 2020.

The structure of government in Nigeria is not in the people’s interest. It was a terrible mistake made by the military, started by a general (Aguiyi Ironsi) and perpetuated by other military generals (Gowon, Murtala, Obasanjo, Buhari, Babangida etc).

That structure can offer no good to a multiethnic and multi religious country. No man can sit at the centre, arrogate all resources to the federal government, and attempt to know or take care of the diverse peoples’ needs across the nation. Waste, more waste and colossal waste will continue to be the story.

Parliamentary/ Regional government at independence allowed for real people focused development. Let’s end this experiment and go back to it.

You gerrit. Only return to regional system of government will end the colossal waste and ineffectiveness of the current system of government. This current system is not for the people but just for the leaders to continue enjoying themselves.

Like a pastor said in a video I just watched this weekend, only RESTRUCTURING can get this country back on track. We must go back to the constitution that was negotiated with the Bristish before 1966. It will not get better in 2023. You are only about to change bus driver next year and nothing else. The engine of the bus is still bad. I'm sorry Nigerians. This country has cursed itself.

Is that really the type of society or world that we want, where no one is allowed to air his views that can ordinarily be countered with superior argument?

Can you not see that frantic efforts are being made to control all narratives whether in the media or on social media?

The worst happens when counter arguments and viewpoints are completely shut down. Tyranny reigns supreme. That is why a few effeminate men keep trying to project their sentiments, views over the vast majority of the world not minding how offensive they come across.

Let everyone’s voice be heard (including the effeminate men by the way), and let the people be the judge. Let no one’s right to freedom of speech or expression be trampled upon.

Capital NO to oligarchy system of running the world, especially while claiming that it is democracy.

True. But how come there were no protests or widespread social media condemnation by well meaning Igbos?

If this happened elsewhere to let’s say labor party members in another region, would they have been silent?

Very bad political precedents are being set in the southeast, and the leaders and people from the region are not bothered, but turnaround to raise serious concerns when less incidents occur elsewhere.

Not good!

Do you mean to say Governor Soludo is lying and definitely in on the conspiracy to destroy his people and region?

https://www.thecable.ng/all-gunmen-caught-in-anambra-are-igbo-says-soludo/amp

This was how the North emboldened insurgency, when they kept excusing, shielding and giving tacit support to non state actors that exploited the region using tribal and religious indoctrination. This instigated enough crisis repeatedly until they (insurgents) became too strong, and the people too vulnerable to reign in their excesses.

Surprised you guys don’t yet see the pattern of where the southeast region is headed, that is if it is not there already. Non state actors are taking over, and can’t be changed peacefully by the people like it’s done in a democracy, which suggests usually becomes a bigger problem with time.

I agree with your submission about Tinubu and his ability to dig in and solve stubborn problems. Non of the other candidates comes close to be honest.

However, fate may have decided the elections for us already because Tinubu appears to be very ill, and therefore not fit to lead Nigeria tbh.

We are left with either Obi or Atiku or Kwankwaso. Let’s just hope whoever emerges manages to come up with what it takes to lead Nigeria favorably, and without complaining that there’s no money throughout the tenure.

candidtalk:

This is beyond Obi the coward. He fled PDP. Tinubu stood his ground and won the APC ticket because even the kinsmen of Buhari recognise the power and influence of Tinubu and his ethnic group.

Only Tinubu, because of his political sagacity and formidable support base, can implement the fundamental changes Nigeria needs to become a progressive and successful nation.

I was still a student when, during a ride back to school, a taxi driver told me how it took a second wife to reign in the excesses of his first wife who had given him hell only up to the point he took another wife.

Afterwards, the woman (first wife) became very reasonable and humane to his utmost surprise he narrated. He came to the conclusion that most women are only reasonable when in competition with others.

That was when I managed to reduce being overly Judgmental towards all men who took more wives.

Some women (not all) are by themselves incapable of being reasonable with their husbands until they have some form of legitimate (another wife’s) competition in their homes.

Correction.

The hatred is actually towards Yorubas and anything that promotes them or their influence. Check online to see scathing remarks against anything good Yorubas achieve or get recognition for. Everyone online knows that Igbos get triggered anytime Yorubas get accolades/awards/recommendation.

It’s the innate reason they attack Tinubu vehemently. It’s sort of programmed with them, but they won’t take or tolerate Obi being scrutinized objectively, let alone attacked like they attack others.

They say others are tribal bigots but history and online remarks and threads have shown that they are the worst ever tribal bigots in Nigeria. They always dish to others what they can never take, then hope to get away with it. And when caught up with by karma, they cry victimization.

The funny thing is- it is the same open-minded Yorubas (that they are programmed to hate) that gives the most attention and reprieve to their cry of victimization/marginalization. Something they would never do for others.

Thankfully, their attacks on other tribes have reduced a bit because they need support for their indigenous candidate during the presidential election. A good development indeed. Hope it works for them though.

I see your point!

The same people who support the development (and are happy) that their region or people cannot support APC candidates without threat to their lives, want to campaign and participate in elections freely in APC and other states without threat to life or hindrance.

In other words, dishing out what you can’t accept with the hope to get away with it- somehow. History has shown otherwise.

In the past, Nnamdi Azikiwe, Nwafor Orizu & General Aguiyi Ironsi did similar things which unfavorably gave Nigeria:
1. A no-referendum constitution (most significant error, the absence of which would have ensured all constituent parts of Nigeria were treated equitably without the need for any war),
2. The 1st military government of General Aguiyi Ironsi, and
3. A unitary system of government through decree 34 1966.

All of which when added to the Ifeajuna/Nzeogu coup, that became tagged as an igbo coup in retrospect, facilitated the eventual breakout of the civil war.

Today referendum and restructuring are being clamored for the most by Igbos- the same people who either supported or raised no formidable objections while these 3 major problems were being created by their sons.

Why don’t majority of Igbos support developments that favor everyone and region instead of just them?

Tides do turn and the person holding the long end of a stick may have to hold the short end sooner than expected. This was the case with the overthrow of General Aguiyi Ironsi in the revenge/counter coup of 1966. Igbos who were happy to rule Nigeria by military fiat suddenly found themselves at the receiving end of their sons’ unfavorable policies.

People should learn from history rather than repeating it.

He that comes to equity must come with clean hands!

Great news. Congratulations boy!

Fr33born:
Fifteen-year-old England-born Nigerian, Ethan Chidiebere Nwaneri became the youngest player in Premier League history when he came on as a substitute for Arsenal as they returned to the top of the Premier League with a comfortable 3-0 win at Brentford on Sunday.

Nwaneri, who is 15 years and 181 days old, came on in the second minute of stoppage time, the first player under 16 to play in the competition. Harvey Elliott, now at Liverpool, previously held the record at 16 years and 30 days when he played for Fulham in 2019.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said: “He has trained a couple of times with us and I had a feeling yesterday that if the opportunity came I would do it.

“I think it sends a strong message about who we are as a club. I told him yesterday he would be with us and he had to be ready. He is ready. When he went on I said: ‘Congratulations and enjoy it.’

“We want to give opportunities. When there is talent and personality and when players love what they do, and when they have no fear, the doors are open for them to explore where they can go.
