At that point, he was highly-infectious but because he lied, the doctors at First Consultants did not take the precautions for an Ebola case.

His Ebola was only discovered after several other tests, and Dr. Adedavoh then suggested an Ebola test on a hunch...
Nonetheless, it was a SINGLE index case. If Covid-19 had been limited to the single index Italian patient, there would probably be no lockdown.

We are not talking about deadly, but rate of infection...
Covid-19 so far has infected at a much faster rate than any other virus.

It is not surprising because it can be transmitted by asymptomatic persons...
Ebola, on the other hand, can only be transmitted to other after the patient develops symptoms.

The concern with the rapid infection rate....
Is a large number of cases at the same time will overwhelm the healthcare system (see NYC, Italy, Spain, etc).

The lockdown and social distancing helps to slow down the infection rate (so-called ‘flatten the curve’)...
So that instead of having (eg) 2000 cases in 2 days, you may have 2000 in 2 weeks, which would be more manageable.

In Nigeria, discharges have been delayed because a positive followed a negative test...
Because of the sensitivity of molecular testing, even inactive viral traces are picked up.

Accordingly, the NCDC will over discharge patients with 2 consecutive negative tests over 48 hours.

A patient recovers and is discharged when his/her system develops enough antibodies to rid itself of the virus...
Accordingly, though news discoveries are being made wrt Covid-19, evidence so far is recovered patients are immune for the immediate-term.

The unknown is - for how long are they immune?
Unfortunately, that will only come from long-term studies.

Most US citizens have had to pay for their tickets to return to the US.

Saw the Minister on TV asking NASS for possible funds for this...

For example, if a US citizen is stranded abroad (not necessarily for Covid)...
The US State Dept will buy a ticket, but void his passport upon return and only issue a new one after he repays.
