Investnow2017: How many people have been tested so far, if I may ask pls? Elslim: Thats d problem, did you see any data of people tested daily? Why are the hiding the data? I don’t believe they are hiding it... The NCDC dude discusses it at the daily press briefings. Obviously, the number of daily tests increases... As more labs are added for COVID testing (including staff training). In addition, the labs are undertaking process engineering.... Eg, instead of one 8-hour workday, have three 8-hour shifts (requires hiring/training more staff though). > |

BeLookingIDIOT: Yes,we know PDP and APC are both failures. But I hate all this sort of simpleton reasoning.Whatever economic progress that occurred was not due to Jonathan. It is equally absurd to say buhari brought about a recession. Things would likely have been much worse if Jonathan got re-elected. Buhari may not have “brought” the recession... But he most certainly worsened, deepened and elongated it with his initial inertia and subsequent inept policies. He’s now been in office for 5 years.... Yet (prior to COVID), Nigeria has struggled to rebound from its recession, while our peers (except SA) and neighbors have soared. Again, we can have a rational debate about the economy (hopefully, without the gratuitous insults)... But any rational discourse has to be anchored on factual reality, and the facts are that the economy is much worse off under Buhari. > |

festacman: Congratulations ma, but I would have been happier if in your times as Finance minister, you initiated diversification of Nigerian economy.
Having studied the terrain in your first stint under Pres. Obasanjo, one had expected concrete action on diversification in your second stint as coordinating minister of cabinet/Finance Minister of Finance under Pres. Jonathan. Things could have been a lot better if you did that but all is now history. You are certainly world famous but you have few legacies at home.
Wishing you all the best, still. While I think both PDP and APC are 2 sides of a rotten coin... Things were certainly economically much better under Jonathan than under Buhari. Now, we can have a rational debate as to the reasons why... But NOT about factual reality - from one of world’s fastest growing economies to world capital of extreme poverty! > |

StupidVoters: Pre-Covid era, i dont pay attention to a certain moniker "Hungerbad" here on nairaland because i think he choose a funny name for himself. Na today I know say hunger bad truly. A certain handsome fresh looking guy in my area who has never beg me nor anybody in the neighborhood for assistance as far as I know, came knocking on my door, I was alone inside my apartment Not feeling to see anyone. I got up to check who was at the door through the tiny door camera only to be amazed by my special visitor. I opened the door with enthusiasm only to see the guy postrating begging me that he hasn't eat anything since yesterday morning, I rushed to the kitchen to prepare a meal together with his assistance. When he ate to satisfaction. I told him to wait till afternoon to have lunch. The guy over prayed for me. He just left.
NB. I'm managing myself not that I have big money somewhere but I was delighted to help this younger "brother". My people, don't turn anybody away requesting for your help at the moment because hunger bad. Do anything within your capacity ( if you have) to help. I beg you in the name of God.
I'm sure Covid won't erase us (Africans) because we are fighter, I'm not sure if hunger won't , because no one is immune to it. Thanks for your kindness... But instead of expending his time and resources into looking “fresh”, the dude should have been legit hustling hard and SAVING his coins. Our priorities are so messed up... Because in our culture, there’s almost always be some ‘Uncle’ or ‘Aunty’ or ‘Broda’ to help (inadvertently fueling the Culture of Entitlement). May providence reward your kindness. > |

Heartless and selfish government. Those Chinese healthcare professionals were brought in by CCECC for its own staff... While they will help FG with the new donated equipment, they will not doctor to the Nigerian public. Meanwhile, it is sad to see the skepticism from apparently ‘educated’ folks... Unless we work hard to break the chain of infection, Nigerians will die in the hundreds. Remember Donald Trump thought similarly considered Covid-19 to be some sort of ‘hoax’. > |

slowice: Paying tax to a government that can't be held accountable is like throwing money into the sea. A huge waste. Even the oil money they earn can't be accounted for. They want to reap where they ve not sown. When our government start acting responsibly people will be happy to pay taxes seeing what their money is being used for. Chicken and egg situation... Waiting for the government to do things that most governments do with tax revenue before you pay taxes. Taxes are the obligation of citizenship (or residency). It is what gives you a voice and the moral right to make financial demands on government. In other words, it is the financial part of that vaunted social contract between the government and the governed. Unfortunately, in Nigeria, the oil windfall (that until relatively recently was produced by foreigners) has caused the government to become un-accountable to the citizenry since it does not rely on tax revenue paid by citizens, and has similarly caused the citizens to demand public services without bothering to pay for it. Frankly, tax dodgers and evaders are just as societally “irresponsible” as the government. Furthermore, they are effectively “stealing” from those of us who pay taxes when they enjoy public services (public schools, hospitals, law enforcement) financed by those who bother to pay our taxes. > |

PS, I have seen them ones displayed up there and I am afraid to tell you, they are the non-intrussive ones, won't help with this virus, these are the ones the Italians where using hence death rate soared. Nigeria with over 200 million people God forbids it spreads it would be a total disaster.I know you might be thinking Im digging out the FG too much but be rest assured, if you have seen waht I have seen, you will understand!! So we have gone from 5 patients to 200 million? Dude, not sure what you seem to be having difficulty understanding... If Nigeria has a massive surge of infections, it will overwhelm the system - just like it has in the US, Italy, Spain, etc. NO country in the world was prepared for Covid-19... EVERY country is making it up as they go along, some with relatively more success than others. Accordingly, for seemingly the zillionth time... The smart thing is prepare for the worst but work and hope for the best. > |
