Artistree: My christian brother was killed an auto crash caused by the reckless driver in a convoy of the den 1st Lady of Anambra State, who was detained? If u c d manner in which dese animals-turn-governors move on the highway, u would think they're immortals.
How could u be so heartless to have detained a poor man just cos ur car collided wit his? What if he had died, who would he have arrested? And those filthy things in black would be more dan glad licking d feet of their master, shameless faculties!
What if the Governor died?

berem: Thank you Abagworo for clearing the air. Salaries owed by previous government and Okorocha takes the blame? Now i see that the opposition is trying to cause trouble.
They earlier posited that the accident was stage-managed but now that the 3rd party has been revealed, they've resorted to cheap blackmail. Someone rammed into a Governors convoy and he wasn't shot but detained and people are complaining. I'm so sure that if it were most Governors, they would have ordered the person killed at the spot. What we are yet to ascertain is if the man was paid to ram into the Governor.

This report was carried out by opposition and that is why emphasis was laid on unpaid salaries. The truth is that the Doctors have been or strike and have not been able to resolve it with Government. The students even took to the streets earlier this year. What is the reason? Because successive Governments owed them and they are demanding for the present Government to clear the arrears and re-visit old issues and employ more than they can pay. They also don't want the health sector capitalized.

The Imo State University Teaching Hospital Orlu Chapter of the Medical and Health Workers Union of Nigeria (MHWUN) has issued a seven (7) day ultimatum to the executive Governor of Imo state Rochas Okorocha through the Joint Action Committee of Trade Union IMSUTH branch as follow – up of their earlier issue 21 and 14 days date 9/07/2012 and 31/07/2012 respectively. The latest ultimatum of 7 days stated emphatically that by the expiration of the 7 days, theUnioncan not guarantee industrial harmony if their demands were not met.
Their demands include: total rejection of the planned downsizing of IMSUTH workforce from its 934 staff. They are of the view that more staff should be employed in areas of need, payment of monetization arrears of 24 month, implementation of the consolidated tertiary institution salary structure (CONTISS) of 15 month and consolidated health salary structure (CONHESS) of 19 months, release of 2008, 2009 and 2010 IMSUTH promotions, upwards funding of IMSUTH subvention to 152million naira as a proved by the Imo state House of Assembly, and the removal of the Chief Medical Director Dr Alex Emeka Chukwuemeka. The National president Health Institutions Consultations Forum (HICF) Comrd Chinedu Nwobodo, frowned at the non- chalant attitude of the government towards Health Care sector, he challenged health workers to rise against any form of capitalism in the state. Onyegecha: Abagworo:

There's more to it than what you think. But Dede I want to ask you a sincere question as an elder from Imo State. What has Rochas failed to do as a Governor that any other Governor in the history of Nigeria has done? Just give me a sincere answer without allegations.

Abagworo, i challenge you, instead, to show me one single system that Rochas has improved since he took over the administration. Here's what we have on ground-

Health- He ha demobilized all the health facilities he met on ground, putting that sector in disarray.

Education- He has made the standard of education to nose-dive and kiss the dust while mouthing free education. Meanwhile people are paying more now than before for a service that is hardly rendered to Imo youths. SUBEB has been abandoned because its structure did not allow Rochas to wreck it like the other outfits. Imo children are now strangers in their own land as IMSU has denied them admission on the orders of the "commander of free education".
For him one bogus school structure in the centre of the city translates into transformation of Imo schools.

Transport--Nothing new has happened to suggest rescue, EXCEPT THE REPAINTING OF OHAKIM'S BUSES to carry rescue mission slogans and colour. We are still at the mercy of keke operators. ITC is comatose. Workers are lamenting. They regret the change in government.

Hospitality--Rochas has strangulated Concord hotel while his sweet mouth says the hotel has been rescued. A visit will convince any doubter

Industrialization--Zero level

Employment---Zero level. In fact Rochas has sacked so many thousands of Imolites. People keep referring to the 10,000 job abomination, but that was just the beginning for the man. Sometimes i wonder whether he is on a revenge mission over an unnamed offence the people of Imo state committed against him.

Civil Service---No improvement whatsoever, except decreeing a change of dress code that is not based on any principle. Corruption is still waxing strong and those connected to the government get their due while others are left out. This government is highly inefficient in managing the civil service. Civil service is based on due process while this government is known for disregard for due process, so you can imagine the rest.

Infrastructure--- He specializes in building big structures that mean nothing to the people.
Bongo square, Heroes square, Freedom square, Government house chapel, centenary tower, roundabouts without roads, roads with red mud and a sprinkling of asphalt.

Local Government system--- Comatose

Community Government Council---Dead on arrival. ALL the communities in the state are enmeshed in confusion because even the proponent of this bizarre system has no idea on how it should run.

Water supply---Big Zero. No water from the public taps since he took office.
Retirees--- Their condition is worse under the rescue mission than ever before.

Privatization of para-statals without due process and sacking the workers is a crime he must be ready to answer to. Meanwhile not one of these privatized outfits is functioning well now. So tell me, which system ha Rochas improved?

I wish him quick recovery, but above all, i wish him soberness and a presence of mind that will enable him to get a grip of the meaning of governance. For now, he sees it as only an avenue to harvest praise from people by saying what he knows they will like to hear.
I'm not a politician but I visit my State and in terms of infrastructure, there has been a miraculous improvement at least in roads. Infact Imo looks brand new in terms of housing because houses are springing up at an unprecedented rate while there has been a high influx of people into Owerri and Orlu. Adapalm has become functional and is employing hundreds of people while Government has withdrawn subsidy from ITC and Concorde hotel by concession to private firms . They are meant to be self sufficient and not to be subsidized by Government. Do you know that successive Imo Governments were owing Concorde billions of unpaid subsidy?

As for Ohakim's 10,000 jobs scam, tell me what they were employed as. You can't just put 10,000 people under Government payroll and call that employment. Those employed in road constructions, farming at Adapalm and building of the various housing projects far exceeds the 10,000 and they actually do work for their money. Rochas Government is providing the enabling environment and that is why there's influx of people. I've noticed several ongoing construction of what looks like mid-sized factories along Owerri-Orlu highway. I believe they could be pharmaceutical industries or so but let's keep our lips sealed for now. IMHO the most significant things achieved by Rochas Government is the transformation of Orlu from a town to a city(by Nigerian standards). Imo used to be a one-city State but we can boast of 2 large and livable cities today with stadia, commercial banks, relaxation parks and several dual carriage ways almost complete with streetlights.

Below are pictures of roads almost completed in Orlu. Not Owerri. I'm sure Rochas does not want them displayed till complete with covered drainage and road markings but people like you need to be shut up.

Nuzo':
Before all ya sentimental bigots jump in to yarn rubbish as usual, I want to quickly remind you that this thread has nothing to do with the ongoing GEJ and Amechi brouhaha. angry tongue

I lived in portharcourt city for about three years before relocating to my present place of residence.

While living in PHC, I was opportune to witness first hand the governmental strides of Amechi of which a few are Greater PH City, constructions of major and dilapidated roads like airport road Rukpoku. I also witness some of his shortcomings/scams like the monorail project.

Before I left PH last year, I placed a bet with my friends that okporo road would've been completed before easter this year and they all laughed. To my greatest surprise, I was in PH last 2 weeks for a friend's wedding and noticed that the road was still in that sorry state.

We are fast approaching the rainy season which was the same reason the govt gave for not completing the road last year.
What actually is the problem as over 70 percent of the project which is the underground sewage system has been completed about a year ago.

Did the white contractors scam the Rivers state government as I heard?
The road is 90% completed but I hate everything about the road. The design looks very much like what Ohakim did at Orlu road in Owerri. The road should have been left as a single lane.

PoliticsJonathan's Fangs On Amaechi And Verdict Of History by abagoro(op): 7:34am On Apr 30, 2013
Few hours back, I stumbled on a publication by a very respected online medium [Premium Times] containing excerpts of what is said to be Nigerian government's White Paper on the origin of the ongoing deadly terrorism spearheaded by the armed Islamic extremists known in popular Hausa parlance as Boko Haram which when translated means that education is sinful.

From what I read, it is the thinking of the current Federal Government, which set up a presidential panel made up of local experts who investigated the upsurge in the deadly attacks of the armed insurgents, that politicians were the masterminds of the armed bandits that are now ravaging most parts of Northern Nigeria in the guise of waging war against selected government institutions, the Nigerian security agencies, Christians and some moderate Muslims. At the last count, over 5000 persons have been slaughtered by these murderous gangs of Islamic religious extremists.

In the government's White Paper sighted by the online medium, the Nigerian government blamed some powerful politicians in the North East for setting up well -armed and fortified gangs of political thugs whom they used to rig the 2003 and 2007 governorship and national elections in their respective states but soon abandoned these armed gangs with their guns and other sophisticated weapons intact which led them to align themselves with the then radical Islamic preacher, Sheikh Mohammed Yusuf, whose sermons opposed the validity of the secular constitution operational in Nigeria.

These armed youth later metamorphosed into hardline terrorists after undergoing unspecified foreign terrorism trainings in Chad. The government's White Paper, now gazetted, was said to be silent on how to deal decisively with these identified political kingpins who set up these armed political thugs that now transformed into the biggest terrorists organization in the West African region.

The White Paper on the Boko Haram insurgency in my thinking is severely deficient in the sense that it never mentioned the widely held suspicion which was even leaked by the immediate past National Security Adviser to President Jonathan, General Patrick Azazi, that the internal crisis within the ruling Peoples Democratic Party [PDP] on the insistence of the current President to run for election in the 2011 Presidential election rather than allow a Northerner complete the second term of the late Alhaji Umar Musa Yar'adua two-terms in accordance with the so-called zoning arrangement, was instrumental to the upsurge in the terror attacks by the armed insurgents.

The above narratives bring us to the all-important question of why the contemporary Nigerian politicians never learn from mistakes of their predecessors which is the fundamental cause of the seemingly unprogressive and stunted growth of Nigeria's democracy.

While his foot -soldiers outside of the highly partisan executive council of the federation are positioning themselves to ensure that the current President, who might face one of the toughest opposition from Northern Politicians, gets soft-landing in the contest for who would fly the Peoples Democratic Party's flag for the 2015 Presidential election, his supporters, who are holding some of the juiciest offices in the Federal Cabinet, are busy exercising arbitrary powers aimed at undermining the lawful activities of some persons in government at the state levels considered as rivals to the President's 2015 Presidential ambition.

It is strongly rumored that the River state Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, who is serving out his second four-year tenure, is interested in running for the prestigious office of the Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and that he will run with a Northern candidate who will likely be the Niger State Governor. Aliyu Babangida [PhD] or Sule Lamido of Jigawa state.

And since this rumor has refused to die even with several denials by the Rivers State Governor, the President, whose position in 2015 may be challenged if this widely held political rumour turns out realistic, has started a well -coordinated hostile activities aimed at undermining the authority of the Rivers state governor.

CultureRe: The Igbos Of Bonny- Igbodefender.com by abagoro(m): 11:51pm On Apr 29, 2013
ijaw citizen: Come on guy! these claims are evident in the title of the thread, everywhere here in nairaland and all over the internet, don't force me to root out threads & cites where the claims that all Eastern Ijaw clans down to Nembe were founded by Igbos and claims that the entire south-east and south-south was once populated by Igbos before Ijaws & other Niger Deltans came to live amongst them.

If that is not the claim made here, why aren't there other threads where you write about the igbos in Kaduna, Lagos, Abuja, Kano etcwho also intermarried there. Guy pls be coherent for once, how can someone be an INDIGENE of Bonny and come from Igboland at the same time? how many of such Igbo groups have shared history with Bonny apart from Ndoki people who are in fact Ijaw people Igbonized over a period of time?

You write as if they just migrated there innocently, as if not thru' slavery imposed on them by fellow Igbos.

I have never said Igbos imposed their language on us, but the aspect of Igbo imperialism is real. What the fcck is Umu Ubani, Igwe Nga, Igwe Ocha, Odurogwu and all the renaming of Ijaw towns. They even go as far as creating an Igbo origin for all Ijaw groups.

Opobo is barely over a hundred years old yet you claimed they've been Igbonized "hundreds of years ago". I don't wanna sound like all Igbos are this Stu.pid, all people are welcome to Ijawland and live in peace with us but we will not tolerate this overbearing attitude of Igbo e-Warriors and their internet campaign of public deception and the justification of their land grabbing agenda
To address you. Umu Ubani is used in Opobo by Opobo people as I have witnessed personally and was not created by South-easterners. They greet "Ubani maranma" and no Southeasterner does that. I never used the word "Igbonized" as you are stupidly trying to claim. I rather wrote that a preference for use of Igbo language ahead of Ibani was a spontaneous phenomenum and was not imposed by Igbos or colonial masters as some people have been trying to claim.
CultureRe: Who Are The Ancient Igbo People? by abagoro(m): 10:43pm On Apr 29, 2013
ezeagu: Just to be clear, Ika, as a fringe 'Igbo' community, does not claim descent from Benin. We've given too much time to random internet claims and objections. It's time we start to find out the truth.

The slave trade, starting from the 16th century, hit the Igbo people hardest in the 18th century, which led to the break down of societies. This was also around the time guns were introduced. I know, for example, that there was a lot of infighting in Igbo groups of the south after the introduction of guns.
All these history still boils down to that same period. My question is why is it that majority of our communities cannot trace their lineage beyond that era? I opened a thread earlier on origin of various Igbo clans and did my research based on the history of the towns as written from their respective oral tradition and they mostly still seem to point towards that 16th to 18th century era. This includes Arochuku and Onitsha.
CultureRe: Who Are The Ancient Igbo People? by abagoro(m): 9:45pm On Apr 29, 2013
I usually like to respect peoples views of themselves without imposing my impression even though I have mine. Igbos to me belong to same group as Yoruba, Idoma, Edo and Igala in terms of migration but some people were living in all these area and were mixed with the migrants. Most Igbos on the fringe usually have a story of migrating from else where outside the Isuama/Nri/Awka area which is considered by many as the Igbo core. We usually say we migrated from Idu, Obiama, Itu etc but many of these stories are quite doubtful to me.

Another thing I've noticed about Igbos is that the oral history of majority of communities dates back to around 16th to 18th century and nothing more is remembered beyond those dates. Something must have happened that caused the sudden emergence of several Igbo communities around that period.

You don't get what I meant. NAUTH and Calabar were still under rehabilitation while the completed ones like UNTH were barely ok. The issue is that we lack confidence in our health care system and would always prefer UK, Europe or US once we can afford it. The less buoyant would try India. It pains me most that Nigerians don't realize that it is our duty to protect our country and not only Jonathan or IGP. Boko Haram consists mostly of foreigners- Nigeriens, Chadians, Sudanese, Malians etc who have physical similarity with Northern Nigerians. This thread has been idle. Its time for us to list the prominent men from these States and compare. We already know that Umuahia is more developed than Awka and Aba is bigger and more industrialized than Onitsha and the entire Anambra State.

I've been reading where many people claim Anambra has produced more great people in Igboland so let us compare. To Start with both have produced President and vice Viz Azikiwe-Ironsi and Ekwueme-Ukiwe. Both have also produced Eastern region Premier. So Anambrians list your so-called great men let me list that of Abia.

NB Onitsha people are not Anambra people in ideology and life style. They are more like other Igbos as they believe in education and good life. I therefore subtract Zik and Ukpabi Asika to start with.

You are taking things personal instead of being objective. I wrote clearly that Akpabio only achieved roads and to me it is nothing compared with the amount given to him. Amaechi achieved Health,re-orientation, education/schools, agriculture and resuscitation of some industries like PABOD and Rivers feeds. Amaechi equally achieved roads but not up to Akpabio. I also wrote that Amaechi wasted funds on monorail.
