At 35 years with no experience beside entrepreneurial, I'm sorry to say but you are out of luck! The only way for you to get a good job is to use connection if you have any but I'm guessing no. It might be beneficial for you to tell us how much you have left in savings, this will allow people to offer you a more concrete solution. |
I actually expected more facts and figures from the OP to booster his points about Entrepreneurship not being the solution but what I found is quite disappointing. In a system like Nigeria's, we are always going to have more graduates than jobs, it only makes sense that entrepreneurship comes up as an avenue to combat unemployment. Most people think entrepreneurship is about starting big but in reality it's not. The true sufferers of unemployment in Nigeria are those without education, those who are not necessarily exposed and for such people an investment of 50,000 Naira can work wonders. I know a guy that served his master for 3 years so as to learn how to build shoes, after 3 years he invested 35,000 Naira in materials and started making shoes. At first it was friends and family patronizing him and later those people started recommending their friends. This 35,000 Naira investment has grown to the stage where he can afford a shop and 2 workers. He is now making enough to pay his own rent and pay workers. Imagine if he had waited for government's help? There's another woman that went into fish business with only a 50,000 Naira investment, she made use of her friendly nature and started a pepper soup joint within 2 years business was booming that she added a TV viewing center to the business and that place is very popular in the Badagry area right now. My point is entrepreneurship is the perfect solution for Nigeria, it will not only give unemployed citizens a way out but also reduce the demand for employment in private sectors which would result in an easier labor market. |
I have a strict limit of never going above $800 for a phone no matter how much I make. These phones operate behind the same mechanism, every six months a new one comes out with one or two modification and the world goes crazy, it's all the same poo! |
I always chuckle at the dark contrast between the way newly weds feel and couples married 5 years or more. This marriage thing definitely opens one's eyes to reality, ask the same groom how he feels after 5 years and 90% of them would say it's not easy being a man ![]() |
daretodiffer:You made reference to someone's character or personality based on just one picture, that to me is being too judgmental. Now if you had previous knowledge of her background or you were friends with her then you might have a point but I don't think one picture is enough to judge someone. |
daretodiffer:That's saying a lot especially since you know nothing about her except for one picture. Aren't we being a tad bit too judgmental here? |
daretodiffer:It has a lot to do with it, especially if she's spoiled! She might not be as religiously inclined as people think. The mere fact that she puts on an Hijab does not make her a good Muslim. I know many Muslims and Christians that are not religious freaks, to crucify such people publicly only pushes them more towards rebellion and giving up on the religion. |
I doubt if the girl in question gives a sh*t about all the comments, it's evident from the pix that she's well taken care of and not a religious psycho like most Nigerians. We turn ourselves into lawyer, judge and executioner not knowing judgment is for Allah alone, those who truly wanted to help the young lady would have done so privately instead of making a spectacle on social media....Shame! |
Want to know the reason why there's high unemployment rate in Nigeria apart from corruption? It's because of the foolish pride of graduates! If such jobs existed in Nigeria and they were paying as much as those abroad, I can confidently say that most graduates would still refuse because of their ego. When I first landed abroad, I looked for all type of jobs but the economy was so bad even cleaner job was hard. My first job was a store greeter followed by a security guard followed by a floor technician(cleaner), all these jobs paid around minimum wage or a dollar above per hour but I was so happy because I was no longer a liability. It was through the cleaning job the administrator of the company recommended me for a position in the business office, fast forward a couple of years, a couple of degrees and the rest is history. Humble beginnings are only annoying to those who live on the island of delusion! |
Buhari should work more on fulfilling recent promises than one from 31 years ago. He is not going to be judged based on little gimmicks like this but on the credibility of his promises during the elections. Fulfill just 2 of your major campaign promises and watch Nigerians vote for you again in 2019! |
tpiar:Why should he remember? we talking about the 1980s here! |
RandomVic:It's one thing to support Assad, it's another thing to downplay the power of the U.S military. Perhaps you don't know American history or world history so I won't hold it against you! No other military in the world can come close to the U.S armed forces and to think otherwise is to be completely delusional. I see that you referenced Vietnam but did you know that the America of the 1960s is different from the America of 2000 and beyond, do you also realize the Vietnam war ended because the American people wanted it to end? Educate yourself man! Furthermore, can you name other wars Americans fought and lost? No you can't but I can name over 20 they won without any allies, to name a few: War of 1812, the Spanish-American War, the Gulf War and so on. See I'm not even going to dignify your ranting by continuing to argue with you, it's obvious you are a joker. Assad a legitimate leader in a country torn by civil war.....pure comedy ![]() |
RandomVic:From the rubbish you wrote above it is easy to see that you know nothing about counter terrorism or the efforts of the US led coalition against ISIS. We are talking about terrorism and you are here speaking jargon about international law. This is the f*cking US, we don't need any permission to fish out terrorists and annihilate those blood sucking demons! You have refused to answer my question, how come Russia is only interested in Syria? Do you have any proof that they requested permission to enter Iran, Yemen, Pakistan or Afghanistan and were refused? Maybe you are deliberately trying to cover the fact that Assad one of the most violent dictators of our time sought Russia's help to combat rebels who are mistakenly being targeted as ISIS in Syria? Before you speak about international laws and human rights you might want to look at the two countries Syria and Russia and their history! |
RandomVic:Russia is bombing one country, Syria! What happens to the rest of the territories controlled by ISIS? If you are as smart as I think, you would ask yourself how come they only operate in Syria? Could it be to protect Assad rather than fighting terrorism? Knowledge is power my friend! |
If it's a younger sibling, there's a little room to caution the husband. If it's an older sibling, one must be careful not to out step one's boundaries! Most of you shouting that you would confront the husband probably are reasoning like little children, marital matters involve a lot of maturity skills and one of the most crucial is knowing how to relate with the spouse of your sibling. |
Isn't this just plain stupidity? Obama's residence is the White House and there is no such protest! Who or whatever is spreading this foolish propaganda must realize that this will only make the whole Biafran movement look more ridiculous! I'm all for peaceful protest and exercising one's rights but it should not be done by false claims. P.S. The U.S and the E.U or the U.N does not give a sh*t about Africans, whether you are Nigerian or Biafran they could care less! |
afroxyz:A little education goes a long way, I suggest you do your own research instead of beating around the bush. The U.S bombings of ISIS targets is almost 2 years now, it has resulted in many casualties including American citizens being held hostage. We are speaking about ISIS and you are talking about Syria, what is it that makes you people think ISIS is only in Syria? Read my friend, read! |
mach7:Would you keep quiet! Even the most ignorant of people realize that the U.S is fighting more of an economic war than a physical one. ISIS has lost 4 different cash sanctuaries in the last 2 months, these sanctuaries were bombed by U.S drones destroying funds totaling more than a billion. The Russians have only been fighting ISIS in Syria, I hope you realize that ISIS controls more than just Syria? |
jashar:Morality and legality are secondary to survival! For example if an armed robber points a gun to your head and asked you to sleep with your neighbor, would you refuse on the grounds of morality or would you obey the last order? If you had a child with an illness and the hospital are asking for 1 million Naira for the operation with the only way of getting such money is to sell a land that belongs to your junior sister, would you sell it knowing you can always ask for forgiveness or would you let your child die? Forget this morality crap, real people do whatever it takes totake care of those they love! |
Bunch of jokers! The problem with this world is that humans are trying to tell other humans what God will or will not do. If there's one thing all the Holy books agree with,it is the fact that God is mysterious and his ways are unknown to any man. You might be surprised that the person you are secretly judging because of a tattoo or bleached body might actually turn out to be the person who gives alms to the poor or donates to the orphanage. Many of you hypocrites would pay tithe to the church but ignore your hungry neighbor's children or the man on the street running around homeless. Come to think of it, if Jesus could pardon a prostitute and promise a robber a place in heaven, how hard will it be for him to allow those with a pure heart but few blemishes such as tattoos or jewelries? A lot of you attend church service but you still don't get it, well let me shout it out to all of you: WE HAVE ALL SINNED AND WE BE JUDGED NOT BY OUR APPEARANCE OR AFFILIATION BUT BY OUR DEEDS HERE ON EARTH! |
Ajusshi:If as a nation we are going to crucify a president for typographical error then we obviously have a serious problem! |
Shame of the nation for a simple typographical error? What is wrong with all these useless PDP agents! If the letter was hand-written we could have blamed the president but a letter typed by another human being probably being transcribed from audio or another written source is bound to an error or two. The only concern here is the fact that the president needs a better secretary! |

People raising alarm where it is not needed. In case most of you don't know, most of the oil producing countries are facing huge economic downfall, even if Albert Einstein was their finance minister these countries cannot escape the wrath brought on by the drastic reduction in oil prices caused by over production of oil. If the previous administration acted wisely when oil price was higher, this disaster could have been averted. There's nothing Buhari can do than to try and recover stolen funds and curb the excesses of government officials. Even China is facing huge economic decline not to talk of a country like Nigeria where funds are embezzled easily. The true economist know exactly what's going on, it's only those with low I.Q. that are busy shouting on social media. |
esere826:Donald Trump ke.....he's a joker! Yes no knowledge is ever wasted, my ultimate goal is to be able to settle down in 9ja while increasing my wealth portfolio. There's no place like 9ja, all these foreign countries are just good for expanding knowledge and building wealth ![]() |
esere826:USA but the company I work for makes me travel over the world. |
esere826:It's obvious you know the English language but you are not well versed in the art of interpretation or suggestive criticism! When someone issues a statement like this: have you traveled to abroad before? It shows the person has a preformed idea about his or her audience and this preformed sentiment allowed him to write in a condescending tone. If only he knew that the person he was replying was not only abroad but doing quite well, I'm absolutely sure he would have revised the statement! |
EgunMogaji:Nope, he can't even remember her name. Omo Lasgidi we bad like that ![]() |
Adaobi12:Yes but life is for those willing to take risks. Choose your glory! |
Adaobi12:It's not as easy as you think, only successful business people and shady crooks can travel 3 times a year from abroad to 9ja, the financial cost alone is humongous! A well thinking wife will be contented if he comes home once or twice in 2 years, most can't even come home at all within the first 3 years because they traveled on visiting visa and must hustle before they can get working papers. |
Billygee2u:I've been living in Atlanta since 2010 so spare me the lecture! My father came to the USA in the 1980s living behind my mom and 2 children. Before he left 9ja, we were all living in a face me and face you house struggling to survive, he just lost his job with NEPA and things were very difficult, imagine what would have happened if he had refused to use his Oluwole visa and chose to stay back in Nigeria? Yes, he suffered a great deal abroad including marrying an obese woman just to get his papers but it all worked out in the end. It took 6 to 7 years for him to fully get himself and in the 10th year he brought my mom to the USA. Looking at their net worth today, I would say they are valued at over 1/2 a billion naira collectively and all was through hard work. My brother and I had to live without both parents for some time but in the end, we are all successful living life to the fullest. What would have happened if dad chose comfort instead of hustling? Be careful how you to talk to people on the internet, some people have been through more than you can ever imagine! |
