freshdude99: honestly! But it's unfortunate that he takes the real investments all over Africa excluding nigeria. He only waits to buy the govt has built. So selfish and foolish. As a holder of B.Tech in entrepreneurship, I strongly believe that Wat that dude is doing is far from entrepreneurship... purely monopolistic without fair competition. Even a dumb ass Nigga will surely be a trillion aire if given same environment to exploit why are you hating on him for no reason? All business men world over love monopoly because it means more money for them. calos slim the richest man in the world controls over 75% of Mexican telecom industry, only 5% of American population controls more than 70% of the country wealth. Entrepreneurship is a not a charity philosophy but ability to spot opportunity and make it count. It is now the responsibility of the government to create a level playing ground for all investors operation in a country. In road construction, Julius berger a German company that pays Nigerians peanut dominate you don't complain Consumer goods are dominated by substandard imported Chinese product and you are ok with that..... Why complaining when a Nigerian decided to venture productive industrial ventures, employing thousands of Nigerians etc? |

Mogidi: If Dangote invest a quater of what Abramovic invested he would be broke.
Abramovic is actually a football lover, he also has a team in Russia, can't see Dangote investing huge sums. You don't know much about dangote....The total arsenal balance sheet a year is less than $20m. The problem with you Nigerians is inferiority complex, dangote can afford to invest into arsenal as much as abramovich as done with chelsea. |

daviejay: ok sir...but someone said the precast use to fall off, and that is dangerous when properly connected to the ring beam it is as good as the conventional one.... one we do when we precast is eliminate need for form work and heavy concrete. Since the facial only serve the structural purpose of breaking wind and since your building is a bungalow, the expected wind velocity will be very low. the major problem builders used to make is resting the wooding rafter in the concrete facial, heaven for insitu type, failure will occur if the rafter rest directly on the facial. The rafter should rest on the ring/head beam or head course |

daviejay: Yes, sir. God bless you. you are really wonderful. please what are your suggestions on Concrete fascia? I am thinking of just a simple flat (rectangular) fascia that may reduce cost... please advise. wooden facial is the cheapest... you can protect the surface against adverse weather condition by attaching a light aluminium flasher to the surface.... if you want something beautiful...use precast concrete facial. The precast concrete facial can be done with any type of design and it is cheaper than the conventional insitu type

The steel rods there don't look like 12mm to me oh! Can you please enlighten me. The main bar was 12mm spaced at 200mm center to center while the distribution bar was 10mm spaced at 250mm center to center. The aim of the job is not to allowed vehicle to pass over it but for the side of the wall to resist the overburden soil pressure which may result from moving vehicle adjacent to the wall. |

porka: That's an advanced "theory of everybody and nobody". (Buhari, 2015).
But we are discussing a live situation now Sir.
If your forefathers came from afar and you've settled a near and you chose not to integrate instead prefer an affiliation with your kins from afar why should anyone claim you as part of them?
If Oloye Saraki preferred his ancestral affinity why should it bother anyone?
Why the rush to claim someone who stated clearly that he is not Yoruba?
"Even, not long ago, I had an invitation to join a Malian-Fulani organisation and that I should be its chairman."
No one put up this sort of theory then when The Nation said Obasanjo's father was Igbo and not Yoruba, even with all the Egba tribal marks on his face.
He it was who came out to say he is a bonafide Yoruba man.
Now you find someone who stated plain and clear that he is Fulani and suddenly theories started coming up about Lamurudu, Agboniregun, Oduduwa etc.
Listen, there are Fulani quarters and there are Yoruba quarters in Ilorin.
Pre-independence interactions or not, everyone knows where he comes from.
Everyone knows who he is.
You can't claim someone who said he's Fulani as Yoruba. what is your definition of yoruba? who is a yoruba? tribal identity started some years ago, 200 years ago people were known as ekiti, egba, oyo, akoko, ikoyi etc. All these groups metamorphosed into the presenf yoruba nation. Ilorin started as an outpost of Oyo which is the strongest yoruba nation as of then, the town ilorin had inflow of other tribe like nupes, fulani, and hausas but majority are still yorubas. Ilorin people a pure yoruba without dialect like ekitis, egba, akoko etc. |

scholes0: they still conquered most of northern Nigeria. They were able to politically calculate, and ally with the Hausa whom were the same people they lorded over, after they had defeated them. What else is that is not pure diplomatic skill? As for the Kanuris, the fulanis would have taken that as well, if the Brits hadn't arrive at the time they did.... Infact a lot of what is being argued in this thread is about another of their conquests, that of Ilorin. They completely overran Northern Cameroon. Fulani never conquered ilorin go get your history well. The fulanis were a minority class that use religion to sway people for selfish and political ambitions. Ilorin only fell to muslim oyos and some yorubased fulanis, nupe slave etc. The emir of ilorin is religious symbol and has no power over the majority of Yorubas who are muslim there |

Maybe I can engage you in actualising the project. Once again kudos. I have read all your post and i must say i am impressed with the details and that you actually have a technical backing for your actions.
Regarding the columns, you didn't account for iron rods reenforcement for the column or i am missing something.
Also i would like the height to be at least 6.5 meters which may require that we add more support in the middle.
what do you think? I will share an email offline so we can discuss further. but feel free to update here so it can help others in the future. i intentionally omitted that because the analysis result may required a different type of reinforcement to the one specified above. for height of 6.5m, a steel universal column and beam will be used instead of reinforced concrete structures |

Judolisco: exactly we have d same views...bt if power can be rotated each governor will be able to bring some changes to it area..bt i still believe d state should be divided creating more states increases over head cost and more dependent on niger delta oil. I see no reason why ekiti and ondo state should be a different state or how bayelsa and rivers are different states or how so many tiny states in the east are no matched to be and so many northern states marge up. Development is a product of careful utilization of materials available including natural occurring one like minerals, arable land for farming, human capital and trade. what do you make of a state like kogi that get less than 6billion naira from the federation account to do after the salaries and allowance of the corrupt and ineffective civil service. how many road can they build, how many water work can they build, how many school and height care centers can they equipped etc... Nigeria should be a country with six states and true federalism |

WIZGUY69: Dude, I know what you are trying to do, trying to defend your region, its a good thing.
but let's be honest, at least once in a while.
if you check my comment, my state is there, am not from osun state though. and am not trying to defend any state. its just the fact. let's take Niger for example, apart from Minna, which place can one call city bida? suleja? those places are still small town with farms in it. Niger is just big for nothing. there's no way you can compare it with Osun. same care as kogi. the only developed place is Okene & Lokoja. there G.R.A is nothing to write home about.
hope u get me brother i am yoruba man from suleja... i was born there and still live there, i have relative from bida as well. suleja is a big town owing to her closeness to abuja, the only problem is lack of good dual double carriage road through central part of the town. suleja is bigger than ado ekiti, lokoja and so many other state capital of states in Nigeria. Infact suleja is the most populous town in Niger state. i have been to Kogi several time, the only good settlement there is ajaokuta still complex staff quarters. |
Politics › Re: Images: Three Most Backward And Poorly Governed Nigerian States by abdulwastecx(m): 10:25am On Jun 08, 2015 |
WIZGUY69: it's shocking and ridiculous to put Osun on the list, on the basis of salary payment. 18 states of the federation are owing their civil servants salary too, even though its not a good thing, but using it to judge on backwardness of a state is trash and void.
one reason I hate nairaland, where someone have not been to, he/she will be talking about it(by googling it) and yuh think you know it all. D.
osun is still better and well governed than : ebonyi, kogi, Benue & ekiti + nassarawa & zamfara & Niger state.
NOTE : I have been to all the aforementioned state & osun is developed than those state.
am not bias! abia, kogi and ekiti are the three worst state i have been to... abia is the dirtiest state in Nigeria while kogi and ekiti are the joint most backward state in Nigeria |

BackDatAssUp: Birth of A monster
Mohamed Yusuf is widely accepted to be the original leader of the proscribed militant Islamic group commonly referred to as Boko Haram.
What most of you are not aware of is the original composition of Yusuf's inner circle which were drawn not from the vast population of poor ignorant masses in the north but from very educated young men of privileged background.
What most of you also are not aware of is that the radicalization of these young men did not begin with Yusuf or in some rundown Madrasah that dots northern Nigeria but in lecture halls in universities across northern Nigeria. They came to Yusuf because they could identify with his own very radical message.
The group gots it's nick name Boko Haram for its opposition of western styled education and mainly because the group was composed of young privileged and highly educated young men who turned their back on the world preferring a return to classical medieval Islamic society. Public destruction of certificates was done to woo more young men into their fold.
The group unsurprisingly continued to enjoy wide spread support among young northerners because of the energetic, vibrant and new perspective they offered. Within a short time, the group started to draw negative critism fom the old established clerics who not only frowned about their radical views but saw their own popularity wane in the midst of younger Muslims who preferred what Yusuf had to offer.
This critism will lead to both false and truthful allegations by the clerics to the authorities on the extent of the radicalization Yusuf was offering the youth. The security apparatus then swung in to investigate the activities of Yusuf and his group and severally he was "invited" to the police station to clarify issues. This only made Yusuf more popular among the youth and gave him an air of fighting the established order. The north was witnessing its first ever revolutionary character.
Yusuf sensing the new twist to his personality and movement will capitalize on his new found fame and status by pumping up the rhetoric even further. This is when the crooked politicians got to notice this young charismatic man. His popularity they (politicians) thought, could be used to their advantage and before long Yusuf added another feather to his influence and ego. With Politicians patronizing Yusuf and soliciting for his support base, things were bound to get to his head.
Here was this young man of humble background and limited education surrounded by children of the elite and the poor masses at his beck and call now getting visits from prominent local, state, regional and national political figures.
Before long the politicians began to use Yusuf's supporters to carry out violent attacks on their opponents for a fee paid to Yusuf off course. This only made Yusuf more notorious with the security agents. But anytime he or any of his members were picked up both their highly placed political associates and the influential relatives of his Lieutenants swung into action to spring him out of custody.
Before long Yusuf built an air of impunity for himself and his members since they were always let go Scott free after any of their violent skirmishes within Borno. It didn't take long for concerned individuals to petition the DSS about Yusuf and before long he was picked up during the second tenure of Obasanjo and was held for a long period by the DSS. This was the time Yusuf met Asari in detention.
But eventually, Yusuf was released back into society and his aura had taken up legendary status. This is a man that even the federal government could not convict. From here on, grand delusions of grandeur began to set in and Yusuf thought he had everything at is disposal to take out the Nigerian state.
We thus, cannot exclude the influences of Yusuf's inner circle and their connections to the corridor of power in our polity in incubating the monster boko haram.
This goes to show that the Boko Haram insurgency has its roots in the northern oligarchy.
Abdulmutalab is a good example of how a young privileged and educated northern youth can become radicalized.
This is were the maitassine movement differs completely with that of Boko Haram.
The maitassine movement was drawn from the poor dredges of northern Nigeria. The maitassine movement was effectively dealt with because the northern oligarchy saw it as a revolutionary movement ( which it was) challenging their authority and dominance and as such this was why the group was completely isolated and summarily destroyed.
The case with Boko Haram is different as the group is intertwined with the northern oligarchy. the most compressive analysis about bokoharam |
